Well, one possible hope for bulls is that the really big investors are forcing the price drop so that they can claim massive capital losses to the IRS. In that case, the price should shot up again after april 15.

No. You're not allowed. The taxes you pay on April 15 are locked in after Dec 31 2013. However those with BTC who were waiting for a rise to cover taxes in 2013 could be in trouble. |

The fact that holders of a coin "value" it in an affectionate sense is no substitute for such an economic role. There are plenty of POS coins out there that can substitute for Blackcoin. So at the moment I'm thinking that this coin's value is based on the multipool effect and some strong promotion. I'm not saying thats bad, I'm just saying it's *it*.
I couldn't find any decent PoS substitutes for BlackCoin. Peercoin - Don't like fixed 0.01 fee. NXT - Don't like fixed 1.0 fee. Faircoin and Mintcoin - You are penalized for sending and receiving coins as your coins have to be in your wallet for 21 days before you accumulate interest. MNT - Lose 20% the first year. FAC - Lose 6% the first year. Why can't there just be a normal PoS coin? There is one right now. It's Blackcoin. Low reward POS coins suffer the same than low reward POW, are less resilient to an attack. So FairCoin and Mint have something in favour. interes also make people hold LONGER, and this is desirable. I don't understand your first statement. PoW/PoS hybrid less resilient to attack? About Faircoin & Mint - sure there will be holders. I, on the other hand, will be swearing everytime I move my coins to an exchange and reseting my 21 day coin age on top of losing withdrawal fees. Those coins aren't for me, but if the price gets low enough I might look into investing them.  Already sold all my MNT. Eyeing Faircoin. But doesn't that also bring up the point if you had fiat, BC, MNT, & FAC. What would you spend? BC or fiat of course The question after that is that good or bad?  |

Don't feel bad I had 50k BC from mining and sold them at 2500 satoshi. At the time it was a genius play as it crashed to the 300-500 range, then the multipool entered.  Don't feel bad I sold BTC at $180. At the time it was a genius play as it crashed to $60, then BTC rose to $1200. I've been there too.  |

Iconic, as far as I'm concerned you've been a success. BC has reached 10K on every exchange, except for Mintpal where it hit ~9900. No need to go overboard now or throw some claims around if it doesn't get there today. Look at this positive : ~1000 BTC worth of BC has been exchanged at this price level over the past 36 hours. This is actually good, because when we finally do break 10K, this price level we are at now is going to become a very strong support level.  Thank you...However, this is not about it going over 10,000. I want to know why is someone pushing the price down artificially. Everything I said I would do was done. But...A lot of BTC has been spent trying to keep BC from going below 9000 and it should be well above 10,000 now. PS: I am not "using this as an excuse"...it is fact. I totally agree with you. Why some still seem to disbelieve manipulation is beyond me. Pure denial. If your really don't believe him, go to mintpal and watch it yourself, it's right there in your face to watch. It is not real because there is no intent of actually using it to buy. It is only being placed there to influence other people into buying in front of it.. People are willing to buy at that price because they are tricked into thinking that is the real current price. You are right; it is a very common market manipulation tactic. One to be vary wary of because it indicates there isn’t enough real support to maintain the current level..
The idea that this is better for the market is ludicrous. It is only better for the short-term benefits of those who are already heavily invested in BC. But this makes it a very bad time for new, big, investors to join in if they are smart enough to see what is going on.
you can't make the claim.. you don't know. it hasn't even been tested yet. you have completely discredited your own argument. now yes.. of course it could be fake, but you asserting that you "know", when in fact, nothing has been proven yet. Wouldn't a "smart" investor look at our graphs and see "Hey that's good. Price has gone up. Anything under 10K is good." Then look at charts and see "Massive buy and no slippage!" We issued that press release so new whales would come in so let's wait for one. |

I would love if people used other exchanges... maybe these speculations would clear up then, you never know what's going on behind the scenes on some exchanges. I refuse to use Cryptsy after a lot of things that are shady on there and I somehow see a 2nd Mt. Gox happening with them. Prelude is freaking awesome and my new favourite but it has almost no volume because it's new and hasn't established a userbase. c-cex is okay.
I'm a fan of Mintpal cos they donated towards the Coinkite campaign Does prelude.io accept USD deposits? That would give it an edge over Mintpal and compensate for their lower volume. They do, they even confirm you for FIAT exchange really fast. I guess all they lack is a userbase, really. But I guess that is normal because they are new. I just hope they won't have to shut down before they got a chance to grow because people are not willing to switch and give them a try. How much fees for trade and withdrawal? |

The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent. If I wasn't so tired this morning I would have recorded my screen and uploaded to YouTube. The sell orders were at 9600+ and there was a buy order for a 9550. Someone did a sell order for 9300 and it sent the price down very fast. From what I understand that is not suppose to happen but it did a few times. Many of you were still sleeping when this all was going on. Someone push BC down to nearly 9000 before a push was made to prop it up. Because regardless of everything you've done, there are still people out there who don't believe. Bitcoin had to jump through the same hurdles to get to $1000+. also BTC is down from yesterday. |

It's all fair game. We don't know for sure whether that 36 BTC Wall is even real. We have a 33 BTC Wall down to 9300 ourselves. I still think this is a win if we stay above 9000. And if BC is worth 11K as you predicted, then an investor should see the 36 BTC 9900 Wall as a no slippage buy and munch it right up.

Poor poor mintcoin and ultra coin believers... Oh man, you mentioning ultracoin, a grief strucks me down whenever I see this name. I genuinely hate myself and my god damn luck... I sold my xbox 360 for 0.25btc to try to make some profit on that in crypto. First I was playing a little bit with UTC at crypto-trade, just before it got hacked. Funds frozen for over one week as I can remember. When I got my btc back, I've run away from there, searching for some other exchange where I could invest. At this time UTC was down to 800sat? Something around that... I was considering buying back in at mintpal, but hell no... That would make me a decent profit the very next day, but with my luck that obviously couldn't happen (being sarcastic here). Instead I used my not-pro trader insight, and went full in auroracoin during the $100 pump at Cryptsy, hoping to ride on the wave if it goes even further. It turned out I bought in at the peak, and didn't sold in time to cut my looses. I've lost 9/10 of my btc on that. Over one night, the same night I could have get x4 profit in UTC. Then I made a pact with the devil and acquired additional 0.5btc and went all in UTC once again, at 21k sat, a day before it went live on Cryptsy. Pump was expected to happen, but there was none. However I became a ultracoin believer anyway. I even made a UTC video called Odyssey. I was holding for couple of weeks, being glad that the price was quite stable and at least I wasn't losing anything. Then i found myself here, reading this thread, when BC was still at 3-4k sat. I fell into the hype, and said to myself "f*** it, to hell with utc..." and sold all of them at 1.9k to put my 0,5btc in to BC. That was my first wise decision so far! I did it just in time! The next day utc started crashing hard! We all can see where it is today... Now I hold 10k BC which is worth almost 1btc. That's good. If it gets x10-20, I will buy myself a house  And I believe more than I did in UTC, that BC can accomplish it easily long term! But the real shame on me is this - When BC was still at 500sat, and I did not yet bought my utc before it went on Cryptsy, I did came across this thread. I found the name BlackCoin quite cool, but... I didn't like the old logo. To me it looked cheap and I was thinking probably another shitcoin. So I went away, not even reading the op what this coin really is  Sorry guys for the off topic, but I had to put out my frustration somewhere... Moving along now. Actually, I've just worked out that the pool revenue from blackcoinpool alone should be between 30-50 btc if their hashrates are right (and if I've got my terra's and giga's the right number of zeroes). In fact, if it's pointed at Zedcoin right now, they're looking at the best part of a whopping 50 btc per day. I think I need to check my sums: 21,000 GH/s SHA256 and 3,000,000 (3 million) KH/s scrypt. Anyone disagree ? If it's correct, say goodbye to all known sellwalls on Mintpal as from tonight. My math says about 20 BTC per day at the current mining levels. Like others have pointed out this is far over the amount of BTC required to maintain price due to 1% inflation. count one more 2048 new BC day... * 0.000095 = 0,19 BTC !!! WTF price can be 100x higher I dont understand this? Explain Mining Pool is buying 20 BTC per day. 2048 new BC per day based on 1% inflation at current price of 9500 sats is 0.19 BTC needed to maintain price assuming 0.19 BTC is sold on MintPal. Is that the explanation you wanted? Or something else? |

Slightly offtopic. But someone hit the wrong button on MintPal Faircoin and ended up doing a 50 BTC market order just now. Wish they'd do the same for us. Jesus, we are dumping faster than a tonne of bricks here! Monumental sells. Question is, why are they pumping up Faircoin? Others have said it already but that is up there in the top 3 scamcoins in my book. Iconic - Any word on the actions of your 'wall street associates' and what they intend to do? Because Faircoin started multipooling today and price went from 6 to 18. So some people want a piece of the action since they have a lower market cap and cheaper. At this point I think it's really going to depend on the better community rather then our coin fundamentals. :/ |
