Dont get yourself to tears yet, with the pricing of burnin's bitfury boards now announced a lot of people are looking at buying bitburnerXX boards instead, so you might find some buyers for your chips Smiley

Sorry you lost me.  You mean people are keen on burnin's other products and my preorder /place in queue may be worth something?

He means that the new burnin boards (bitfury based) are so expensive that people don't want them...
182  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - now for sale on: September 15, 2013, 08:44:56 PM
Putting this here too since it will be lost in the 144 pages burnin thread otherwise:

It makes more sense to keep buying H-boards from bitfurystrikesback (unless burnin can really get 80 GH/s out of these).

The cheapest option at Bitfurystrikesback is 6500€ for 400 GH/s

We offer 512 Gh/s for 5499€

Where is proof of this? Is that hash speed guaranteed? Do you include extra boards in the deal if the unit you deliver hashes at less than 512, like punin does?

edit: You don't offer that speed at your site, you offer 320 GH/s – 640 GH/s. Where is the guarantee that the unit hashes at 512 at least?

edit 2: If your unit actually hashes at only 320, the Bitfurystrikesback unit is _better_ than this deal. 320/400 = 0,8. 0,8 x 6500 = 5200.

edit 3: What is the warranty on these boards/units, and do we void the warranty if we overclock?

edit 4: Why the hell is that heatsink 10 euros extra on these boards? That probably is a mandatory item, and a basic heatsink costs what, 3 euros?

Maybe that's what they're counting on. Squeeze just so much as to make most people think "oh well, this loss is easier to swallow than going to the courts".

First 30% loss at least, now overpriced boards...

Yes but i find that a very very bad decision from a business point of view. He will have less new clients and old clients will buy the minimum that they can so they will sell just a few boards instead of selling in bigger numbers.

Looks like greed took over. Besides, burnin hasn't said a thing about these new developments even though he's been reading the forum.

I don't think that we should be too hard on burnin for this. If you use a distributor then they will want to take their cut, which may be the problem here.

There is "reasonable cut", and then there is this. 200 euros per board? ROFL.

Quote from: zulover
where is the proof (demonstrated ) they mention on the site and we need to be convinced more as to how much hashing can be squeazed out of the bitburner fury boards, i mean how likely is 80ghs really? if it can be pulled off that would make it bearable.

Even with 80 Ghash/s ROI is iffy. At 64 it starts to look zero sum at best. At 40, it's always a loss. Better count on the pessimistic side...

Besides, there's no mention of overclocking versus warranty. Do we even _get_ a warranty?

Besides 2: the heatsink costs 10 euros extra per board...
185  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - now for sale on: September 15, 2013, 08:15:01 PM
I decided to buy just one board to use up my discount.  I'm VAT registered, so I figure I should just about ROI if delivered before KNC ship.
I had planned to buy at least 4, if not more.

Actually after a bit of thinking i will order 1-2 boards with my discount too. I planned to buy at least 10 boards for the price stated by burnin, but not anymore.

Do note it's not a discount. It's money you've already given them... of which 30% they get to keep.
186  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - now for sale on: September 15, 2013, 08:12:03 PM
Heh, I just noticed the boards don't even include a heatsink in the base price. That's +10 euros.

And the pictures on the site are of Bitburners, not of the new board.

More questions: what is the warranty on these boards? Does overclocking void the warranty? Why such a large spread on the advertised hashrate? If you've only managed 64 GHash/s _best_ from a board, why advertise a max of 80?
187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: September 15, 2013, 07:52:35 PM
700 EUR is really hardcore...
hopefully those of us (including me) who requested a refund will get the 70%+X instead of 50%... would be really nice.
we'll see..
Yes, I also want 70% refund but I'm afraid all we can to get from cryptx is 50% (in mid october).
In truth I do not believe that 50% is the part that burnin lost from avalon orders.
I am totally disappointed.

You will get 70% if you ask for a voucher for a BitFury board. The 50% is only if you want cash.

Well, since they're price gouging on the new boards, I don't feel much loyalty towards burnin anymore. As I said, it's starting to look like it's time for courts and 100% refund...

I don't like it either. My take on this is buy 1-2 boards from the voucher money and get out of this mess. I'm not defending burnin but i think going in court for 400 EUR is a bit useless and it might take a while to solve it while keeping all your funds stuck. If you buy the minimum amount of boards with the voucher money you won't have money stuck and you won't have to spend lots of money in court. A lot less headache with minimum losses. Remember that BitSyncom is guilty for this mess, not burnin. He is just a collateral victim.

Maybe that's what they're counting on. Squeeze just so much as to make most people think "oh well, this loss is easier to swallow than going to the courts".

So, if mining is consolidating into a few big players, maybe anybody can tell me why BTCGUILD is still so strong.

Just wait when the big operations come online this and the next month...
189  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Poll] Burnins BitFury miner on: September 15, 2013, 07:22:44 PM
Far too expensive, I even considered it with the discount amount from my old Bitburners but will now be changing my choice to "refund"

Think I would rather save my BTC up for a few months then buy at this price.

€470 was such a good price, shame that we got our hopes up!

They probably thought "what the heck, let's charge as much as we dare".

The pricing is set so high these things won't make much profit if they manage to ROI at all. Asicminer v2. What the heck is wrong with people these days? :/

Differences between €699 is and original price of €470 is probably distributor's margin mostly.
Those who think they will get their boards before early November, I suggest to think twice.
To those wanting to support burnin, you guys could always donate.
I am out and deleting my vote as conditions were changed.

I waited for long to buy a product from burnin and now seeing what was done, I can just feel sorry for the energy, time, effort and money of all people involved (including myself).

@burnin,
I do appreciate your work and effort, and if I may say; you shouldn't allow this to happen.
If distributor is to be blamed, get rid of them and do business with someone having more realistic view on market and with one willing to work with less margin.
If you can't find anyone, do it yourself or you will loose all these people waiting for your boards.
I am speaking this as a friend, and this is just a hobby for me to support network and get involved. Having said that and, I don't want to overpay what ever product I am buying and this one is too expensive for me and probably bad investment with price set way too high.

Well said. This is just like Asicminer. I spoke against their pricing months ago, and this is turning into yet another price gouge.

Bloody sad.
192  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC manufacturers " thinking outloud" on: September 15, 2013, 06:56:28 PM
Things are starting to look bleak for the small/medium sized miners for sure.

Burnin was my last hope of seeing a reasonably priced product for the small guys. Sad to see greed took over there too Sad

So much potential, so much wasted...
193  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: September 15, 2013, 06:52:42 PM
By the way, could you elaborate on the pricing a bit, please.

Burnin stated earlier the price point would be around 470 euros per board. Does this still hold, or has there been much adjustment upwards in pricing?

Seeing as the chips are 22,5 euros each (per a reel of 3000), the chips would cost 360 euros for one board. 110 euros for manufacturing, parts, design etc doesn't sound too bad tbh.

Prices and Hashrate will be made public at the moment of the launch.

In other words, you're gonna price gouge? Sigh...

Don't make the same mistake the other ASIC vendors are making. We have a base price of 360 euros per board from chips. Another vendor is offering a board for 720 euros which does maybe 40 Gh/s (and won't ever even ROI at that price). I still have hope for burnin (and by extension, you) to make a reasonably priced product in this cutthroat market.

I quote myself, but...

Your pricing is insane. I already lost at least 470 euros to the 70% scheme. Now I'm starting to think that you (burnin, cryptx) are trying to cheat even more out of me. Well, since this is the EU, consumer protection laws are pretty stringent. Maybe I should just get my money back (in full) through courts.
194  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - now for sale on: September 15, 2013, 06:45:58 PM
No wonder you didn't want to comment on the pricing _or_ timing questions I asked of you earlier. These prices are ridiculous. Moreover, I haven't even received notice of the site opening, so your promises of letting us earlier buyers get ahead of "the public" starts to sound hollow.

I already lost 474 euros to this 70% scheme, and now you want to charge exorbitant prices. Fucking shameless. The greed of people knows no bounds.
195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Poll] Burnins BitFury miner on: September 15, 2013, 06:28:22 PM
Many people asked (and obtained) Avalon chips refunded because of clear issues with the ROI, and we all know how good is http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/ to understand the current situation in term of difficulty increase (sadly...).

If we consider the costs and the mining potential of the new burning project and we stick them in the genesis block this is what comes out...is this correct?

http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/d5f045682e

This is not a critic, I think this a realistic view of the current situation. I genuinely think that burnin and Cryptx are doing their best in reducing the costs, but delivering a competitive product at this stage is very very difficult if you don't produce the chips!!

Can you clarify the use of 9 BTC as "Cost of Hardware"?

he is right, the cost of hardware without shipping is 8.5 BTC at the moment, add shipping and you get 9.25BTC

Including VAT this is correct.

Are you insane, or just greedy? burnin stated the expected price was around 470 euros per board. This is almost twice as expensive. Cost breakdown, please.

Fascinating! Thank you both for your cultural insights and contributions to what's turned into a deep and meaningful discussion.

Cheers mates!

What is this I dont even...

A post with historical references, logical argumenting, linguistics, good grammar, even some humour. You even managed to tie in a larger reference with WW2, free world and how we stand on the shoulders of giants.

I must ask that the mods ban you for a week or so for daring to put so much sense in a single post Wink Tongue

Are there any developers or hardware manufacturers already committed to making boards or devices for these chips?

Yay, another failed opportunity Sad

This brave new cryptocoin world sure looks curiously like a Fallout wasteland...

http://asic-hardware.com/ is prompting for user/pass right now..
Does it mean that the site is on and we can login with our credentials from bitburner's site?

Nah, that's the generic webserver directory password dialog. They're probably in the process of implementing stuff at the moment.

Btw, if you tried to enter your account details there already, be advised you just broadcasted your login/pass in the clear over an insecure connection (no SSL).
