As a shareholder I feel really screwed by you Ethan!

Quote
As a result of recent changes in the virtual currency regulatory environment, the btct.co and litecoinglobal.com virtual stock market websites will be closing down.
What recent changes? You knew it all the time that it is illegal to operate an exchange like this.
Did you spend 50k for lawyers to learn that. Good job wasting money.
What will happen to the legal retainer?
Will you buyback shares?
Why don't you sell the site?

Sell the site, its a great site.  Preferably to someone that is trusted and not in the US. Tongue

or open source it.

183  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 23, 2013, 03:14:23 AM
I'm new to the thread. I was invested in AM in the past and made a nice profit but sold when I saw their network % dropping. I've kept my eye on them. What is the reason they hold such a small % of the network? Shouldn't they be keeping at least 20%. I thought they had the capabilities to do this and if they do, why don't they do it?

As someone once said, perhaps it was more profitable to sell off the hardware instead of mining it.  The fact that most of the money is still sitting there is better than if he paid it all out to shareholders IMHO.  Sucks being in the dark but we don't know if he has the new chips ready next week or in a couple of months.  Question is when, not if, so I think we're still in a great position even if we are slightly behind for the beginning of round 2.

I'm confused.. is there going to be another blade auction or something?
185  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 19, 2013, 04:27:28 AM
AM should join a pool for the next month or so

+1 let's see the BTCGuild at 50+ TH/s constant and then maybe throw some more at solo.

If there is a huge variance in solo mining to begin with, and then add in the added loveliness of the poorly-peered Chinese networks (causing AM to have the highest orphan rate ever), we have a bigger potential to lose than the potential gains.
186  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 18, 2013, 07:28:21 PM
User 67117 showed up on rankings of BTCguild. If I remember corectly this is AM user account. Back to pool mining?

Yes it is.

What hashrate did it get up to?

188  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Delivered and Mining BitForce 500 GH/s Mini Rig SC on: September 07, 2013, 07:41:44 PM
Price should be 150 BTC per 500 GH/s BFL to make it on par with AM's pricing..
189  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTCR] New in stock 13-port USB hubs: the ultimate for Block Erupters! on: September 06, 2013, 08:41:56 PM
mclovin, may I suggest on-board DC-DC converter for 12v to 5v? Having that many USB miners might be dangerous. Most ATX power supplies only have 16-24 amps on the 5v rail, which is 32-48 miners, minus whatever the computer is actually using on the 5v rail.

Most modern ATX power supplies are really a large 12v power supply that downconverts the 12v to 5v and 3.3v on an internal daughterboard that usually maxes out around 80-120 watts. I think it would be more prudent to convert that massive source of 12v to 5v instead of relying on the much smaller 5v rail on the ATX PSU.

I had considered a DC-DC converter, but I instead purchased one of these for the stacker:

A 60A @ 5v PSU for $47.  We will probably carry these at WTCR soon.

The Stacker 810 supports two power supplies, so I have that added flexibility, and if you have a string of 3 molex's on one wire, that's still only one wire that can carry 5v.  So my secondary power supply has two strings on it so that's running two of the 13-port hubs, and the Corsair I'm using as a primary PSU only has one molex string so that isn't enough, I'm using a sata-molex adapter to give power to one of the hubs, but I am still short on being able to power up all the ports just yet.  I still have a whole bunch of D-Link hubs so I am using them for some of my USBs until my big 60A PSU arrives then I will be able to power up hopefully 12 of these 13-port hubs.  Even that isn't enough power for all 12, but I have two of the 60A PSUs on order, I will get 156 USBs in a Stacker 810 if it's last thing I do!  Smiley

They can power all 13 miners easily using your PC's power supply.

Works with Pi?

I don't see why not.  You would just need a 4 pin header USB adapter, I have one of those can I could try this out for you.  The computer sees it as a generic USB hub, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on the pi.  You could probably use a root hub connected to the pi and hook a dozen of these to that root hub!

do you ship to the uk ?

Yes we ship worldwide Smiley

over .5BTC to ship 1 here to the uk lol

International shipping could get pricey.  I'm assuming that was Xpresspost?  There are probably cheaper shipping methods offered by Canada Post but they have a tendency to be really slow and unreliable.

193  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: September 05, 2013, 09:42:30 PM
I think there is a hub missing in the list, only the ultimate hub!

Here is a copy of my post:

195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 03, 2013, 04:20:05 AM
The thing I like about these is I don't see those little voltage adjustment knobs!  Just plug and play, no tuning at all (although that extra 3 GH/s a board will be missed) I could see these being very quick to deploy.
196  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Group Buy #12 NEW Blade Miners 4 BTC or less! on: August 29, 2013, 07:55:29 AM
Do these have ethernet connections like the last ones?  Considering purchasing, just need some additional details on the hardware.

I as well would love to know this.. LOVE how the old blades run on their own, it would be cumbersome to have to string raspberry pi's all over the place for USB Smiley

Pretty much no one is going to make a profit on most other miners either. If/when they get it.

So you're saying that if you had $39 in your pocket, and you converted it into BTC and purchased a miner with it.. you mine it for a year or two, and you will never get your $39 back?  What if a BTC suddenly climbs to $10,000 in a couple of years.. and this only generated 0.2 BTC at that time (a net BTC loss), you would still have $2000?  If these can make 0.01 BTC in 3-4 days, who's to say that 0.01 BTC isn't worth >$40 soon?

People purchase these for different reasons.  I have many of these purring away right now and I have already earned over 20-30% of their cost.  If at the end of the year they have only earned 60% that's okay with me.  It's better than pre-ordering a BFL and a year later it hasn't arrived, at least with these you can do your profit calculations knowing that it will be in your hand in a day or so.

These make an excellent choice for first-timers of Bitcoin particularly, even though holding BTC is an even better way to guarantee profits.

There is also the PPCoin angle.  If you point yours at PP, there is a chance that by the end of the year the PPCoin hashrate skyrockets and block reward plummets, and you could convert your PP into BTC at a profit.

*Who knows* what will happen in this crypto world, and what the best choices are, but don't hate on the USB miner because they are "outrageously" priced at 0.39 BTC!  I remember paying 40 BTC for a 5870 not long ago.  If you want a miner, buy one, if not, keep it to yourself! Smiley
