Please add new pool for Managed Profit Switcher : phi-phi-pool.com  Cry Cry Cry

You could add the individual pools available on this site as a pool group and set profit-switching to the pool group.

Any chance in a future update there could be a feature that caps the amount of time Awesome Miner will remain on a single algo when profit switching? For example, if PHI (or any algo) remains most profitable and is mined for say 10 minutes straight (or through 5 consecutive 2min Switching Interval checks) have a setting that would cause AM to switch to the next most profitable algo and put PHI on timeout/cooldown for a configurable amount of time after which the profit switching profile would take it back into consideration. Perhaps per algo in Options -> Online Services a setting like "Max Continuous Mining Duration Before Forced Switch" or "Max Time Active" paired with that a setting that could remove the algo from profit switching consideration for a configurable amount of time if it triggers the previous setting so it doesn't just immediately switch back next Switching Interval check. Either that if per algo is too much to implement, the 2 settings could just apply to all algos and be configured under Options --> Profit Switching right were Switching Interval and Profit switch Threshold are configured

My thinking is that with tuning these settings could help AM from getting stuck on a single algo for too long with a high ttf that isn't finding blocks. Anyway, thanks for the Awesome software and the continuous updates!

I'm confused by this, but I'm sure you have a good reason for wanting this.  This behavior runs counter to what profit-switching is for.  I think Patrike has said he would look into adding profit-switching triggers and actions, so maybe this could be set in a future version.

Hi,

Using version 4.5.0, I am trying to develop a script which is supposed to turn off and turn on a smart plug if certain miner goes offline. To do so, I have defined a custom rule which uses "Detect offline, 180 seconds" as a trigger and as an action, I use "Run executable" which takes an .exe file which looks up smart plug IP based on miner hostname and restarts the smart plug. It all runs fine, if script manages to execute well and restart the plug, however, if there is an error, like plug is offline for any reason or the farm which is offline isn't equipped with the plug, AwesomeMiner keeps triggering my executable every couple of seconds. So the question is: is there a functionality when choosing "Run executable" action to perform it only fixed number of times? For example, if miner went offline, I would try to restart associated smart plug 3 times, if there is one, and, if it doesn't work for any reason (plug lost network or no plug is installed on that miner), I don't want executable to be called anymore.

Thanks a lot for help in advance!

You probably need some waits in the actions to allow the rig to power back on.  Otherwise, the rule will get triggered again.

Check out my version of what you are trying to do with Awesome Miner and Smart Plugs.  I use IFTTT to integrate the Smart Plugs and Awesome Miner.

184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Patience is a virtue... and the key to mining on: February 27, 2018, 05:24:29 AM
Just some friendly advice for new miners...

There are lots of threads where people are worried about "current mining profits".  There are lots of threads where people are searching for the "next big coin".  There are lots of threads where folks get kicks predicting the doom and gloom coming.  You are a miner, and just like real-life miners... there are periods of boom and bust.  I actually work for a company that produces mining equipment, so I'm familiar with these cycles.  The parallels are uncanny.

One of the lessons learned in the mining industry is that you have to be able to position yourself to be successful in the lean times.  You reduce spending where you can, you work on efficiency, and you prepare for the next boom.  This requires patience.  As a cryptocurrency miner, you are already familiar with certain types of patience.  You purchased mining equipment rather than a coin, so you are hedging your costs with the potential resale of the equipment.  Mining a coin and purchasing a coin have the same amount of risk.

Another type of patience you may have already, is watching a slow dribble of coins or "profits" come in over time.  It can be hard to watch this during the boom and bust cycles.  My suggestion for the bust cycles is stop trying to chase the hottest coin, and mine a solid coin.  Or, you can cycle through days or weeks of mining promising coins.

I'm not a fan of profit-switching... I can state my reasons if you haven't read those in other threads.  Chasing the hot coin will drive you crazy.

;TLDR - Patience grasshopper... there are no shortcuts in mining in real life or in cryptocurrencies.

Lol... 6 months later... did you buy one of the cards?  Which one?  How does it perform?  What are you mining?

Is anyone else having issues with the new 2.0 wallet being extremely slow?  For me, it's slow to respond to clicks and constantly goes into "not responding" mode on Windows.

What kind of help are you looking for?  You’ve setup the JSON file, I’m assuming you’ve connected the relays to the matching GPIO pins in the JSON file.  From there you just follow the install instructions from the Github page and run it.  I would suggest you not connect the relays to your rigs until you know that it’s working.

Thanks, have switching working now, can you please advise which if i have the outputs connected correctly (going to power on/off)

It's pretty easy to test.  Just unplug your ethernet cable on your rig.  When the time is up, this program should initiate the hard-reboot sequence.

If you don't control the keys, you don't own shit.

If you don't have experience/infrastructure/whole amount coins for mn, you don't have mn's reward  Wink

And delegating that to some annoynymous noob that can just run off with the funds is a good way to lose the coins you are dumb enough to send. 99.99999% of the masternode coins started in the last months are just scams.

If the masternode wallet supports multisignature, it could be fine.  But, the newbie status would definitely turn me away, that point is granted.

Am I missing something here?  Why are we replying to a thread that was started 6+ months ago?  The OP never posted again.  I suppose they never started mining.
190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC's of any flavor? Any that make sense to ROI now? Or is it lost cause? on: February 22, 2018, 03:52:07 PM
The problem is that there are a lot more miners now than before so difficulty becomes a thing to calculate before any ASIC purchase.  ASIC producers don’t even have to advertise that much any more.  They get sold out in hours.  There really isn’t any incentive to have anyone test it here and setup group buys.

I generally like the Baikals because they can do more than one algo, so they tend to have a longer life span than most single algo ASICs.

Has anyone heard anything about co-operative masternodes for DNR? 5000 coins is beyond my means, and I'm sure there are a number of people that don't have 5000 coins but would be able to contribute 500, 1000, 2000 etc for a masternode.

Does DNR have multisignature ability for wallets?  I think that would be the only way to handle a cooperative masternode.  I'd be interested in hosting or joining one.

Hi, can someone help to config awesome miner in nanopool? please ... in the Pool section - Desc- OK, Server URL -ok , Worker -? pass - ? wallet - ?
on this pool there is specific wallet address like examp <wallet/worker/e-mail > so where to wright this option in awesome miner ? cast_xmr miner and cryptopia - on cryptopia there is wallet+ID , i tried to put wallet.ID on wallet space for the pool but nothing happens , miner working but where ? i don't know . nothing showing in nanopool statistic

I posted this back a month ago in this thread in reply... maybe this will help again?

What are you trying to mine at nanopool?  I'm assuming it's either Monero or Electroneum since you are asking about XMR Cast Vega.

Cast XMR is built into AM, so I would try with this mining software first.  When you setup your pool information in AM for nanopool, the server URL should be:

xmr-us-east1.nanopool.org:14444

Change the "us-east1" part to your region's server URL.  See here for the other region server names:  https://xmr.nanopool.org/help

If you are mining ETN, then lookup the server and port name here:  https://etn.nanopool.org/help

The worker name that you put into the pool definition for AM is going to be different depending on what kind of wallet you are mining to.  The easiest to setup looks to be to your local wallet.  It has the format of ADDRESS.WORKER so your worker name would be your Monero or ETN address only.  On the Managed Miner is where you tick the box to append the worker name to the pool worker name.  So if your worker name in the pool definition is ABC123, and the appended worker name in the Managed Miner is RIG1 then AM will put those two together to be ABC123.RIG1 which is the format that nanopool is expecting for mining to your local wallet.

If you are mining to an exchange or a local wallet that requires the payment ID, then you append that to your wallet address in the pool definition.  So, the pool definition worker name  would look like:  ABC123.PayID  And then you still append the worker name from the Managed Miner of RIG1 so that AM will put it all together to be ABC123.PayID.RIG1

If you need to add an email address, then you put that in the Managed Miner worker name appending.  So if you had the pool definition worker name of ABC123.PayID  and then your Managed Miner worker name was RIG1/emailaddress@mail.com then AM will put that all together as ABC123.PayID.RIG1/emailaddress@mail.com

The pool password doesn't seem to matter so you can put an x.

I frequently use the JSON from WTM for pulling statistics. However, I have found quite a few new coins that do not show up in WTM. I'd like to still pull in the difficulty data for these coins, is there a way to actively do this? I understand how to create a coin, but that just statically sets the difficultly.

There was reference to be able to do this in 4.4 changelog. Havent investigated further yet:

- Awesome Miner API method to set coin properties, for setting profitability of custom coins from external applications
Yes it works well. I wrote a program to update custom coins.

I have writen a python script to get stats from whattomine.  They have data for 206 coins, but only has details for about 70, and use only about 50-55 in their calculator.  I still miss some coins, such as those listed on crypto-coinz.net.  Are you getting coin difficulty, block-time, global-hashrate, from any other source?

Are you able to share your python script?  I'd be interested in what you are doing.

Can someone help/guide me to set this up on raspberry pi3, i have purchased the relay switch and have connected it to the appropriate gpio pins as shown in the diagram.

The raspberry pi3 running raspbian

Look at the config.json file.  In this file is where you setup the IP address and the GPIO pin that it's connected to.  Find a pin-out of your pi3, select some GPIO pins and match them up in your JSON file.

196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Awesome Miner rules on: February 21, 2018, 05:16:28 AM
First, you need to have your pools setup in Awesome Miner.  Then for the rules in Awesome Miner, you set a trigger, in your case the Time trigger.  Specify the time of day you want to change pools.  Then in the Actions section, choose Miner Command.  In the command drop down select Change Pool.  In the Pool drop down... select the pool you want to change to at that time.  Then clone the rule, and adjust the time and pool.  Clone it again to set a third... and the 4th time to change the time and pool for the 4th.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Awesome miner auto switch vs mining one coin on: February 21, 2018, 04:49:23 AM
It's totally up to you to decide, it really depends on your own mining strategy.  Some people will say you should mine the current hottest coin, as you stand to gain the most if you can get it exchanged fast enough.  If you have a very large amount of hashrate, then this may work.  But if you think about it... it's probably not going to work.

Let's say you switch to mine a coin that has a 2 minute block time on say Zpool.  You mine your share, and you get a percentage of the reward for that block.  But now, you have to wait for say 10 confirmations to mature before it's sent to the exchange.  That's now 20 minutes you are waiting for the coin to mature before it gets sent to the exchange.  Now, let's say it's a mildly popular coin, and it's gets sent to the exchange... minimum 2 minutes of that coin's block time if Zpool has enough of that coin built up to make it worth their while to send to the exchange.  We are up to 22 minutes.  That transaction is going to take another 10 confirmations before the exchange makes it available to trade.  We are now up to 42 minutes.

What are the chances that your coin is worth the same amount when you started mining it until it reaches the point where it can be traded on the exchange 42 minutes later?  Not very likely.  There are thousands and thousands of miners that use auto-switching algorithms and were mining the same coin you thought was hot in that moment.  That shoots up the difficulty, and the massive dump on the exchange(s) sends the value of the coin down.

A 24 hour profitability evens out those nuances, and I would even argue that a longer period is necessary.  You want to be mining a coin that is consistently in the top spot... not in the moment.

But, this is my opinion... there are other perspectives.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New merit give away thread. For alt coin mining. on: February 21, 2018, 04:40:09 AM
I really hate asking for this, but I think I'm one of those 'inbetweeners" that got hosed by the new merit system.  My activity broke over 480 in the last month or so... so I should have been upgraded to Hero.  When I checked to see why that didn't happen, I noticed the Merit link in my profile.  After reading a bit about, I understand why the merit system exists, but now I have to generate 250+ merit to get to Hero status.

I'm most active on the Altcoin miner subforums as I'm a miner, and I love to pay any advice or tips forward.  Here's some of my more recent decent posts if you want to peruse:

I have 1 rig with 6 gpus at the moment.  I use awesome miner for it.  I plan on building a 2nd rig soon.  How can I mange the 2nd one without a 2nd monitor and another awesome miner running?  Is there a way to use the same awesome miner on the 1st rig?

Just install the Awesome Miner Remote Service on the second rig.  Then your AM on the first rig can monitor and control the second rig.

not sure if this has already been asked, couldn't find anything via search, but is there any way to pull a log of all the coins that were ever mined via awesome miner?

Awesome miner doesn't keep track of the coins you mine, but the possibility exists with the API to dump the hashrates to a database.  I'm looking at building this as an add-on.
