181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling: Modern entertainment or highly addictive game? on: April 29, 2024, 11:08:49 AM
~
So, you are right that it depends on what games someone is involved in. Most people who play gambling games overdo it, they won't stop once start gambling until they have all their money lost and have no other option than stopping, and some wouldn't stop even then and try to get more money from here and there only to feed their addiction.

It's a common misconception that most people who gamble are having problems with that, or that they so-called "problem gamblers". In fact, there are about 5% of such people depending of the area. See, 5% is far from what can be called "the most". Actually, it's a dangerous mistake made by many gamblers. It gives them an excuse for becoming addicted, because like there's nothing unusual about it, everyone is addicted who's involved with gambling.

Please sir, there is a typographically error in your spelling of name on the Bitcointalk Username below please check and correct it.

Good eye.
What's funny is that most applicants (including myself  Grin) have used the wrong spellings while applying because we didn't notice. And those who noticed the mistake and rectified it while submitting their applications didn't report the mistake.

I just edited and corrected mine in my application post.  Grin

183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 29, 2024, 09:40:54 AM
Even if you set a dice game at 98% chance of win there's still 2 % that you will lose your bet, and that's not zero, my friends.

What happens is that the OP talks about bad streaks and if you have a 98% chance of winning a game a bad streak will not last long. ~

It's a dangerous assumption, my friend. Let's imagine someone stakes $1,000 to have a "sure win" of $10 betting with 98% win chance. A bad luck strikes and he loses his bet, $1,000. Then he thinks? "I can't lose two times in a row with 98% win chance, right?" So, he stakes $100,000 this time to"surely" win his $1,000 back. And bad luck strikes again and he loses his $100k. Now, to recover $100k he needs to bet $10 million with 98% win chance. Would you, being in his place, borrow $10,000,000 somewhere and make that bet? I wouldn't advise doing that.
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: April 29, 2024, 09:09:24 AM
I will just contribute in the short way children learn a lot from us. In fact, they just repeat what we are doing. Anything you are doing in the presence means you are teaching them how to do it and they will just repeat exactly what you are doing gambling in front of the kids is very dangerous because they will repeat that and not even letting you know unless you find out yourself so I wouldn’t advise anyone to proceeded and gambling in front of the kid, if you are doing it please just stop it’s not a good thing

Actually, I can imagine how to gamble in front of your kids and make of that something useful for them. First off, they should be of age above 14. Secondly, it shouldn't be a gambling session where you are excited hoping for a big win. On the contrary, it should be a cold-blooded session, and you should be explaining to your kids that it's stupid to count on earning money through gambling, and exemplify that with your game. This way you could teach a good lesson to your kids while losing just $10. But it also could be a terrible lesson if you won big accidentally. So, I'd say it's better not to risk and never gamble in front of your kids.
185  Economy / Gambling / Re: What are your expectations for Casino coins in this coming bull run? on: April 29, 2024, 08:36:23 AM
~
Investors associate the success of the casino to their token since that give them confidence that the casino can able to support their token.

Right. Although I personally think that no "support" is needed, but I think you are right, that's what warms up hopes of most investors. In reality, if the casino is doing well then its tokens(coins) have a great utility and they don't need any support to be able to rise in price with time or retain their price if it's already high.

~It didn't meet the expectation of people that's why those people experience the worst like they are bag holding those token for many months or it reached for years they didn't want to engage on any of these type of token anymore since they get afraid if same situation will happen to them knowing that this tokens will only be good at first but once they exist for many months the value and volume declines.

Yes, there are exceptions, of course, to what I said above. If the initial price of casino token was artificially inflated at first, then, even if it'a popular casino and prosperous joint, the price of their coin might decline in the future.
186  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do you think there are craters on the moon? on: April 26, 2024, 06:27:48 PM
Why do I think there are craters on the moon?

I'll tell you why. What we see in our telescopes is not the moon today, it's the moon 100 years from now. And Bitcoin has been reaching the moon so many times already that it has created all those craters.

No, that's only your telescope... because you have pasted some of your nonsense over the lens.

I know that it's difficult to think. I don't do it properly, and neither do most other people. But we all see the difference between science and sci-fi... if we look, that is.

Cool

It was a sci-fi joke, man, jeez, relax.
187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we help beginners not to get addicted on: April 26, 2024, 12:11:28 PM
~

Hm, interesting perspective. To me it almost sounds like "Gamble away, folks, and don't think about the possibility of getting addicted!"

In my ten years' long gambling adventures, the main thing that keeps me from falling into addiction is that I always remember the possibility of it. I would suggest to the beginners in the world of gambling to never forget about this possibility and keep checking periodically whether they are not there.
You are right, as long as you gamble with full awareness when doing so, I think you will avoid addiction. Because only we ourselves know or recognize our gambling situation and everything will be related to awareness so as not to get carried away by the atmosphere of the game and being able to control ourselves when there are signs of excessive gambling activity. Or stop immediately when you experience several defeats, and awareness will help in anything related to negative impacts or addiction.
So in my opinion, beginners must instill and practice to get used to playing with full awareness before getting involved in gambling so that they are the ones who have the ability to master the game, not you who are controlled by the game.
~

Good words. Indeed, do not let the game control you if you don't don't want to get addicted to it. Gambling is our entertainment, so, it's reasonable to not be controlled by entertainment, isn't it? It's always a bad thing to want more and more entertainment in your life. You become like some bad character in fairy tales then. Smiley

~
Yes, it's true that it's a perspective that I think is quite confusing, because the advice is still within the gambling circle - instead of banning it altogether ~

I wouldn't suggest banning it altogether, but thinking that focusing on not becoming addicted to it will lead to addiction is absurd in my opinion.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you achieved anything from gambling on: April 26, 2024, 11:23:49 AM
Op your friends are not far from the truth and you said, you have achieved things from gambling online please can you share some of your achievements so other gamblers will be motivated. Because really I have not seen a gambler build house with gambling or sponsored himself or children in school with gambling money. I have not heard of that part of the gambling story. Although I have heard gamblers won big amount of money but I have not heard of them using it to do tangible things.foe themselves.

That's what I'd like to see too. I think if you win anything good making a screenshot confirming that isn't a big deal to do.

Regarding using your money won from gambling for something useful ... C'mon, guys, there are many millions of gamblers in the world, don't you think at least some of them have used the won money properly? I'm sure there are many of such cases, it's just hard to google them because the results are always littered with some unrelated garbage. But I've found the replies to the question "Has anyone ever won a large amount of money gambling and managed to walk away and spend it on something meaningful rather than gambling it away again?" on Quora:

https://www.quora.com/Has-anyone-ever-won-a-large-amount-of-money-gambling-and-managed-to-walk-away-and-spend-it-on-something-meaningful-rather-than-gambling-it-away-again

you can check it out. And if you'll find another place where I can read about won money spent wisely, please throw here a link.
189  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: April 26, 2024, 10:49:33 AM
I don't know why it's taking so long to update the info. It's interesting for all of us to know who is the winner and how many tickets he had, isn't it?
11 days have passed and the winner hasn't been determined yet. They haven't even published the tickets list on their twitter.
First, they should publish the tickets list on their twitter and the winner will be determined after 12 bitcoin blocks are mined after the list being published.

It's 18 days today and here's a screenshot I made on the site today:

I checked their twitter - no info regarding the real latest round of "Win a Lambo" there either.

After scrolling through their latest tweets, what I know for sure now is that the latest round was indeed number 10

and they announced that "9 Days Left to Win a Lamborghini" in their tweet from Mar 29, 2024. So, it looks like it's 19 days today since the winner was determined. And no word about it neither from TheQuin, nor from freebitco.in PR. Not cool.
190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: April 26, 2024, 09:04:08 AM
I will say it again, I'm confident that for those who are in desperate need of money gambling can't provide entertainment.  Rather, it will cause troubles for them. Betting limits have never worked, we all know that. But providing financial education, like you suggested, is a good idea in my opinion. And to make the process of learning more interesting and enjoyable, maybe, hooking it up with gambling is a good idea too.
And I strongly agree with that. Desperation makes us cloud our decision-making in life and that's when we keep on betting without any rest because we just want our money back if ever a losing spree happens. ~

Thank you. The thing is that @FortuneFollower suggested providing "entertainment options" like gambling in poorer neighborhoods, and my reply was to that suggestion. I think overall it will do no good to poor people. I'm not trying to say that gambling is for rich people only, but it's definitely a bad idea, trying to "entertain" poor uneducated people with gambling. That would create even more cases with crazy acts of gambling addicts like in the OP. I hope you agree with that too.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does the game of luck in gambling really works? on: April 26, 2024, 07:48:43 AM
Literally speaking luck is something you can't predict , in fact that is why such activity is termed luck. When it comes to things like this , if you go through the perspective of mathematics probability is more like a way to try predicting outcomes of a particular event. Take a normal die for example , when tossed , mathematical probability suggests that the probability of getting a particular number is 1/6 meaning you should get that number at least once for every six toss. However in terms of luck, it is very possible to toss that die 10 Times and not arrive at that particular number Iin any of the tosses. Same way it is also very possible to get the same particular number consecutively in all 10 tosses. However the chances in both cases is very thin.
Same way luck in gambling can't really be predicted although before the results, every gambler usually hope that their bet was the jackpot.

I don't think it's mathematically suggested that you should get a particular side of a die at least once for every six tosses. Rather, it is said that each time, regardless of how many tosses were made before, the probability of rolling a particular side is 1/6, or roughly 16.7%. Same with the coin toss. It's always 50/50, each time. That's why sometimes you can get a result like I got yesterday:

See, eleven wrong rolls in a row with 50% chance winning each.

192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Claw Machines: a category of gambling? on: April 26, 2024, 07:00:58 AM
~
Exactly. I personally don't think that the grip strength can be tweaked in real time, but I'm sure the thing is designed the way that the grip is very weak and can easily lose the prize at any moment.
I had asked one of the puppet claw machine technicians I had met,
they said that the claw force would be strong enough when it reached the specified number of coins.

So it will be quite strong when many coins are inserted, but it will only happen in 1 chance.

Everything has been arranged in such a way that it is not easy to pinch a doll or other types of claw machines.

I think there are at least several different types of claw machines, and maybe that particular one in that particular place was designed like they told you, but I'm sure there are many others, much simpler than that. They are just designed to hold the prize(if they caught it) with pretty weak grip, weak enough to lose most of the prizes right away or along the road. It's all mechanical, no sophisticated programming involved.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: April 25, 2024, 12:03:58 PM

Very true, when you begin your session and everything goes against you, it is very easy to just think about it as a terrible day for you and stop gambling immediately, however when a gambler notices that things are going according to their plan, they will refuse to stop gambling even when they reach the amount of money they wanted to win during their session, as the sensation of beating the casino can be intoxicating, however nothing lasts forever and if a person keeps gambling for long enough, then it will not be long until a reversal of their good fortune appears and they start losing the money they have accumulated so far.

Well, it's possible, but the opposite is possible too. I mean, you can reach the amount of money you wanted to win during your session, but instead of stopping you keep playing and then you win even a bigger amount. It's not like it's guaranteed that a "reversal of your good fortune" will appear soon after after your winning, right? Your every spin is unrelated to the previous ones. I'm not advocating for more playing after you won something good. I, for instance, always stop after winning something good. I'm just saying a big win after a big win is possible. One day I was hunting for 100x on dice and accidentally didn't stop after hitting it, and, you know what, I won another 100x right away. It were two 100x in a row. Happened only once during my 10 years' long gambling journey, but it happened and so I know it's possible.

Why do I think there are craters on the moon?

I'll tell you why. What we see in our telescopes is not the moon today, it's the moon 100 years from now. And Bitcoin has been reaching the moon so many times already that it has created all those craters.

For further context, it's about the SCP Foundation.

Now that I think about it @betwrojg, off topic seems to be the best candidate since it technically isn't about real bitcoin stuff.

Yes, put it there and throw me a link.(Oh, I found it, never mind. Will comment of it later).

196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When you are not to gamble. on: April 25, 2024, 10:12:08 AM
It is not difficult for gamblers who have good motives, those who try to pay off the borrowed money after taking it. Moreover, if the gambler has the ability to repay his loan, then there is no exception. But nowadays no one trusts gambler because they mostly lie or cannot follow through on their words. No one wants to pay such people because no one wants to lose their own hard earned money. I don't trust gambler because the kind of promise they make to me is not possible for anyone else. I personally don't trust Gambler to lend money because they can deny it at any time. However, it is not possible to say that everyone is entitled to the same type of personality. There are many who try to match words with deeds. It is not bad for them to lend.

You are right, no one should lend money to a gambler for gambling. If you lend them money you might make their situation even more miserable. There is a good possibility for them to lose the money and then being in debt to seek another person they could lend money from and gamble again struggling to win and return the debt to you. It could turn into a vicious circle for them. No one wants that.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in and losing the bet on: April 25, 2024, 09:41:29 AM

That hope that keeps you engage with the house, thinking that luck might be there somewhere and help us to cash out decent amount from the casino, though even how hard we try most of the time the outcome is not favoring our side, but, gambler always a gambler to the point that they will Yolo all in and try that luck whenever they've got that chance.

The outcome may always be depends from how lucky you are after that spin, though there are times that it's also being wreck by the decision making that we take, as if the chance to win was there but you choose to push forward instead of quitting after the result, ending it up losing it back to the house.

I'd say, if you keep playing after winning a good amount, it's similar to going all-in in a way. I mean, you put all your balance at risk then and else should we call that? I usually stop for the day after a good win. I never think something like "It's my lucky day! I should keep playing!", never. Rather I think "I was lucky this time and let's not test our luck further."

I would love to visit Vegas and its casinos not for the sense of luxury or non luxury, but to get that unbelievable experience of being in such place. Any place in the world with casinos of such level would do (like Macau, Monte Carlo or Amsterdam casinos), but Vegas is one of my dreams. I would go there just for the shows, cuisine, entertainment, shopping, services, general atmosphere there.

I'm with you there, brother, that's one of my dreams too.  Actually I'm afraid it would be a disappointing experience for me, but I would love to go to one of those places one day. To be honest, I didn't know there were casinos in Amsterdam. I've been there 5 times and it never occurred to me that I could visit one of the places similar to those in Macau, Monte Carlo and Vegas. I'm still not sure whether the casinos in Amsterdam are of that high level. What do you think?
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 25, 2024, 08:21:06 AM

Times are getting crazier, because it's hard to get money nowadays, lots of people do crazy things, a few days ago my neighbor was cheated by his "future" wife out of hundreds of millions of rupiah, the woman hijacked the man's smartphone and withdrew all of the man's savings, i wonder if this guy has Bitcoin on his smartphone, it's definitely not safe, however, fraudsters can come in any form and usually in the form of friends and close people, so be careful with people close to you, it's not a problem if you invest suspicious of them.

Incredible story. I'm so sorry for your neighbour. Returning to the OP's title, do we really need to blame fraudsters, I think fraudsters are fraudsters and they will always be with us, unfortunately. We can't be on guard all the time, sometimes we need to rest and relax, and in those times we may become victims of the mean and dishonest people like that "future" wife of your neighbour. I'm afraid there's nothing we can do about it, sometimes we will be deceived, but we should do everything possible to reduce the number of times.
200  Economy / Gambling / Re: [SOLVED] Betnomi | Project status & Refund Plan! on: April 25, 2024, 06:56:40 AM
Well, I've read your post and the more I think of it, the more complicated it seems. I mean, let's take a look at your list of refunded/non-refunded people. Among the 2 refunded ones are myself and @AHOYBRAUSE. I know myself, obviously, and I know AHOYBRAUSE. He joined this forum on February 02, 2022, and has managed to collect 661 merits since then. Pretty impressive, huh? In the list of non-refunded users, on the other hand, there are only newbies I've heard nothing about until this day.
Does it really matter whether the complaints are from newbie user or higher ranked user of Bitcointalk forum? How many high rollers have an account on Bitcointalk? There are thousands of people wagering millions of dollars in different crypto casino regularly. Are they required a higher ranked account to make their complaints reliable here in the forum (if they ever create any accusation)? Evidences are the most important thing here. Sorsis hasn't refunded the funds of those users who had big amount.

Evidences, right. By the way, do you have any solid evidence that someone wasn't refunded? Have those people, higher ranked  or not, provided evidences of them depositing their money on the site or just having it there? If yes, show them to me and I will change my mind if they are convincing.

Quote
So, what would you think about this Betnomi situation being in my place?
Betnomi is still a scam. I wouldn't defend them if I were in your place. Because everything they did was scammish. They have only refunded $400 to you, and a small amount to AHOYBRAUSE. The confirmed refund amount is quite small.

Are you sure about this? Maybe read at least Trusted feedback on Betnomi on this forum. They've got positive trust from such known and respected people of this forum as: GazetaBitcoin, TopTort777, cygan, willi9974, bitbollo, aoluain, famososMuertos, icopress, jayce. And those respected members who have given them negative trust just don't know that the issue has actually been solved.

...

I think I must tell my personal story of relations with Betnomi here. Back in 2021 they sponsored Bitcointalk Poker Series which I won

and together with some other my winnings it was more than $700

which I withdrew from the site without any problems. Then I'd been playing on their new site for some time, and at the time they had disappeared I had around $350 in BTC and ETH on their platform. It took some time and I admit it was worrisome for me after months had passed, but I believed in them(see my posts in this thread) and they have refunded me everything(more than $400 in BTC and ETH because the currencies had risen in value at the time).

Now, that's what I think you should do for those who were kind to you (more than once) when mountains of unfounded accusations arise against them: you should defend them. That's what I think.
