That one was deleted by DiabloD3.

Really? The whole thread? Any reason given?

This was the reason for it being reported:

"This thread is beyond out of the bounds for the mining forum"

I can't remember exactly what the thread said, only glanced at it once as I was a little busy with work when I saw the email.  It was already gone when I went to look back over it some more.
1802  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: safebtc.com - escrow service on: August 30, 2011, 10:35:56 AM
Hello all,

I was asked to promote one trusted escrow and here it is:

http://safebtc.com/

First of all, there are no transaction fees until November 1st.
It works like usual escrow model. First you setup your transaction with inspection period and with/without charity donation after unsuccesfull transaction.  When you get your goods or services, you release the coins to the seller.  If the seller rips you off, you don't release the coins and you need to wait for inspection time and after that you can choose to claim seller or not.  This way the seller must deliver to get the coins, and the buyer has no incentive to withhold payment since they can't get their coins back.

I have made one transaction and everything was good with it.

Willie Betts

Who are you?
Who asked you to promote one "trusted" escrow? and why?
The link won't even load.

Terms and Conditions

Accounts may be frozen or terminated at any time by Seals with Clubs, with or without notice or explanation. Similarly, there is no guarantee express or implied that funds deposited at Seals with Clubs or winnings accumulated shall be paid out to users.

The system will be purged periodically, and accounts with over 3 months of inactivity will be removed, and all funds in those accounts will be forfeit.

Huh

To OP:

The Terms and Conditions makes it sound like a huge scam, please let us know why it's not.
1804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Search Bitcoin will be down for 5 minutes on: August 30, 2011, 08:00:53 AM
5 minutes is not bad.

Why reply to a 5 day old thread about a 5 minute down time?  Seems like someone is just trying to up their post count...
1805  Economy / Gambling / Re: THE Bitcoinduit games thread on: August 30, 2011, 07:38:31 AM
Well, I agree that is *seems* like the new rules killed ponzi.  However, Bitcoinduit already had a double bad day that day before, so I think the rule change was just the very last straw.

Also, just before the change, there was the post about how bitcat.ch was "a fucking scam" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=39246.msg483028#msg483028  so I think enthusiasm for that site was already on the down swing.

What good can come of this?

As a result of easy game creation, ponzi was over saturated.  Remember when we would all wait for bitcat.ch to start a round every friday? Or the few weeks King Of The Mountain rules Saturdays?  (until myBitcoin folded)

I hope regular, trusted rounds can make a comeback.  I'd be happy to play 1 or 2 *good* games a week instead of 8 or 10 marginal games a week.

That said, The Forever Game is still going strong Smiley see my sig.

I think you're right, it was pretty much game over saturation that killed it.  Perhaps I'll start another one up in the future, spreadsheet method and all.  The first one I did went for a long time and had 147.2 BTC played in it.

Stickied posts are hard to read
1807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty Decrease! on: August 30, 2011, 07:11:57 AM
Okay, so it's decreased for 4 weeks instead of 2.  I still wouldn't worry too much about it, to be honest.

In other terms (via your avatar), it took how many years before the Vince Lombardi Trophy came back to Green Bay?  You can't let the temporary downturns distort your ultimate goal of success.

(...go Pack go...) >_>

I never said I was worried!  Just trying to spark some discussion is all.
1808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty Decrease! on: August 30, 2011, 06:07:01 AM
The difficulty level *has* decreased in the past, ya know.  This time, it's most likely due to the Irene storm.  It will probably go back up in the next 2 weeks, don't you worry.

Kinda makes me wonder what would have happened if Bitcoin started out with the GPU miners that Namecoin/ixcoin/iocoin/WHATEVER already had to begin with.  Methinks it wouldn't have worked out nearly as smoothly.

I know it's decreased before, but not many times and this is the first time it's decreased twice in a row.
1809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty Decrease! on: August 30, 2011, 05:38:21 AM
The above was just a guess from somewhere; The actual difficulty is in: 1,777,774.482001

http://blockexplorer.com/b/143136

Good call, it had showed the new block number so I assumed it was the correct difficulty.  I edited my first post to be correct.
1810  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get -s flag to work on: August 30, 2011, 05:21:57 AM
What miner are you using?  It may be a different flag that you need to use.
1811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Difficulty Decrease! on: August 30, 2011, 05:17:44 AM
From 1806098.30 -> 1777774.48 making it the second decrease in a row!  Sure is nice to know I can still mine at a decent rate.
1812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you hiding? on: August 30, 2011, 05:12:55 AM
I can't tell if I'm being fucked with or not Huh

What exactly did you mean by the original question?

If it was a general question to people if they are using TOR or not, then I don't understand this post.
If it was meant as is the site setup to automatically use TOR for everyone, then the answer is no.
1813  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Newegg sapphire 5830's for $100! on: August 30, 2011, 04:57:26 AM
Still available on newegg.ca.  Just picked up two Smiley

Not anymore, only XFX 5830s.... for $150.
1814  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you hiding? on: August 30, 2011, 04:45:35 AM
so whats the best way to be secure? buy a laptop? hook it up to smartphone via rooted device on hotspot and use vpn? is that a good idea? all device purchases and services being purchased anonymously of course?
Buy VPN (1), use that VPN (1) to buy another VPN (2).
Connect to TOR (1), then connection to VPN (2).
Once you're good, connect to VPN (1) and buy and connect to VPN (3).
If you want to go further, force SSL and use incognito.

1815  Economy / Gambling / Re: [One shot] last man wins on: August 30, 2011, 01:17:29 AM
I like the idea of getting people to donate to a charity, but it's not really a good gambling type thing..... you just arbitrarily deciding when to end it, and also having people "claim" donations is not a good way to run something.
1816  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 29, 2011, 10:05:38 AM
I'm curious, how many pools is everyone hopping?

I've got 6 total counting my backup PPS pool.  Probably wouldn't hurt if I found some more good ones to add.  Here's my list:

Triple Mining
Mt Red
BitClockers
Slush
Deepbit
Arsbitcoin

BTCGuild just won't hop for some reason (I've got it set as mine_deepbit and I'm using p2pLP).

Any suggestions for other pools to hop?  I'd also be curious to see the lists of other people.

Hooray for less spam!
1818  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitCoin Mining / JackUp on: August 26, 2011, 07:32:27 AM
The poll doesn't even make sense.
1819  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi Sub-Forum????????? on: August 26, 2011, 06:40:07 AM
Bitcoinduit is so popular because it works. I would feel much better about playing a ponzi game hosted with Bitcoinduit than one put together by an individual, the only documentation a Google Spreadsheet.

Bitcoinduit should be treated no worse than any other ponzi schemes.

You can play all of the games on bitcoinduit that you want, but we don't need a new post every time someone "creates" their "game".  There are so many being made all the time and all it does is spam the forums.

Go create a new forum for advertising bitcoinduit games if you want.
1820  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi Sub-Forum????????? on: August 26, 2011, 06:30:32 AM
No more ponzi games. Sad

Ponzi games are fine (I even have one in my signature). But it's annoying when people post topics announcing games that are almost identical to other games, especially when they've put almost no work into creating the game.

It would be OK for Bitcoinduit games to be advertised in replies to a single topic.
I would feel much more comfortable if there were clear rules. Perhaps restrict the number of ponzi topics a user can post per week, or necessitate "twists" in the game. Better yet, allow anybody to post any ponzi game in a designated ponzi subforum.

No matter what it done, "automated" ponzi games should not be treated any worse than those put on by an individual.

He's saying no more bidcoinduit posts from what I read.... we don't need a new post every time someone is able to post outside of the noob den.
