Why are people mentioning making wafers and stuff regarding the Jupiter sales? They said they would ship from stock.
ANd they may, but you cant ship from stock without first producing the machines and chips. Chip production simply takes a long time, so the question is: do KnCalready have a stockpile of unused chips (or wafers) or did they already place the order with the fab? If the question is no to both, then it seems unlikely these machines will be in stock before mid February. If they do have a stock, that seems pretty wasteful. If they have placed the order some weeks ago, then the decision, which some claim hadnt been taken yet, has already been taken and its only a question of when they will ship those in miners. They said from stock. Whether it's from the 763 they have on the shelf, or they buy more parts.. either way, they're shipping from stock in January.

@vesperwillow - if that's true then I have wasted a pile of money on 15 motherboards...
There's likely a way around it. I just speak from my limited experience with a few motherboards. Others may be able to offer tips/solutions. Definitely explore some other drivers. I got one gigabyte motherboard working with xubuntu but i remember it being super tricky, took me about 4 attempts. Once I found a combo which worked "off the shelf" (bamt / asrock) I stuck with it.

Wow, way off topic...
That describes the last few pages of this thread. This thread has been off topic for about 1,251 pages.

It may also be a motherboard/bios related issue. I've seen my bamt sticks work perfect on the ASRock motherboards, but put on a Gigabyte/Asus motherboard, and they throw the exact errors you're talking about.
Buddy of mine had to buy a whole new motherboard just to mine with. It didn't matter what driver version or OS he used, he kept getting the same errors.
Food for thought.
12x drivers have historically been the fastest in BAMT. I saw 720kh+ out of my 7950's with them. But, hardware varies, so anything is possible.

igorr, igorr... wait, wait, take a breath and listen read.
His staunch disbelief reminds me of the conservative Christian folk who dispel polygny as sin. Have you read your Bible? God even claimed to support it, and took credit for giving David his wives, and was willing to provide more. Nowhere in other Scriptures is it prohibited. They'll sit there, look you square in the eye and say that you're wrong and it's a sin. Regardless of how much proof is plastered on their face.

My 2 centz... The larger the Hash-cloud grows, the more difficult it will be for a vendor to make the same impact. The effect will be a smaller and smaller rise in difficulty as the cloud grows. As the chip technology reaches its high-point(Maybe a year?) it will be even harder & harder for asic companies to make the same % increase. Endgame scenario... TH/s per watt will be the deciding factor in the end. Mining will also quickly become a commercial affair imho Those with the most efficient machines will be at the top, while older, less efficient machines will operate at a loss, and continue to do so because Junior isn't footing the bill, and Momma & Poppa are clueless... I also think that mining(with the finest machines) will always be profitable, even beyond 2040, depending on your electrical situation. The number of block transactions will be very large by then, and contain enough transaction fees to pay the "winning" miners, with the most efficient machines, just fine.
and then one day, the electric company doubles their rate... done. That's when we find out our government has developed a new, cheap, clean power source, stolen from the patent office, and they bought up all the old miners.... Bam, re-centralized.
+1 Yup. Honestly if cryptocurrency technology grows and takes off like I hope, there are many uses for it. I could picture a future where a lot of houses have subsidized heating based on machines which are in the house hashing, keeping whatever networks, alive and safe. Think about it. The possibilities are amazing.

It's always been known that mining is only temporarily profitable/worthwhile for most folks. This hasn't changed. Whether it's this year or next year or tomorrow, eventually it'll have to move toward a more industrial-only network provision.
So what's your point?

Just did a quick peek at all known tag pools, and congrats fuse, this one is the biggest of all the ones reporting data:
210MH - Tagmining.com 91 MH - tag.botpool.net 83 MH - tag.hashfaster.com 36 MH - tag.cryptopools.com n/a - miner.coinedup.com/tag n/a - tag.cryptopool.it 31 MH - tag.scryptmining.com n/a - coinex.pw
Loving this low difficulty rate too.. in the low 20's.

still isn't getting anywhere close to 1000 billion.
do you know maths?
Dogespeak: wow difficulty, very maths, much numbers. Though his exact difficulty estimate isn't what I would hold to, the difficulty is going to kill most at-home miners in 2014 if things continue. Ultimately for bitcoin to remain useful beyond 2014, it will rely on industrial-scale mining efforts.

thats cusious - i didn't set the addnodes in my config file and fully downloaded the blockchain yesterday - without any problem.
Yeah I know. I've tried it with/without. Sometimes it gets close to completion and then stops, and won't ever try again--keeps saying checkpoint too old. One time it did complete the download, and showed synced, but seconds later showed out of date again and refused to download the chain. I've seen others mention the issue. This is the *only* client which I have issues with. Even dogecoin works fine, despite it being retarded. Even bitcoin blockchain is far easier to download, I can usually get the whole thing down in under 2 hours. Not starcoin though.. 24 hours later it's still only like 90% complete, and then it dies.

If I'm not mistaken, this is part of the Proof of Stake of TAG. If a wallet is online and synced and not doing anything, it proves to the network that the coins are yours and do exist by setting some aside for proof, and you get some small interest amount back. That's what it sounds like is happening, but it's strange to me to see such a high amount for Stake.

Link is now showing. Also provided the general outline of what I do to get newer cgminer in place, along with some other stuff.
Not an exhaustive tutorial but should get you going. I don't mind helping out if you have questions.

Still working on BAMT...tried the LTC rabbits version of it since that was reported to be good with these cards, but that gives an error "Failed to load X server", or if I use the VGA to connect, it says no GPUs detected... cannot find a download for BAMT 1.1... I think I should give up and go wakeboarding for the day..come back fresh again tonight..lol
Utility for Windows to write image files to USB stick: http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/I'm uploading the bamt 1.1 image to a filehost. Link will show up when done: Link: http://goatpc.com/litecoinbamt1.1.zipI uploaded the stock 1.1 image without any changes, so it's pure and clean. Should work out of the box for you. However, here's what I do to bring it online for my systems, with some tweaks. Comments in brackets, commands in bold. Should work cut/pasted. I might have a sudo out of place here or there, this is off some scribbled notes, but you get the gist. These steps upgrade you to 3.4.3 cgminer, modifies the BAMT script to use the new cgminer, and sets you up with a handy alias shortcut to see cgminer anytime via ssh. This is all done either via SSH or through Root Terminal. I find SSH easiest. First: bootup BAMT, setup graphics cards/pools as needed, then proceed: (1. change the user password) passwd(2. new/set root password) sudo passwd(3. gogo gadget superuser) su(4. new folder for upgraded cgminer) mkdir /opt/miners/cgminernew(5. gitclone cgminer) cd /opt/miners/cgminernew git clone https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer.git cd cgminer(note: 3.5.0 would segfault on me, so i have been using 3.4.3. the following command pulls 3.4.3 source) git checkout 891c279(6. move cgminer files to their new home) cd.. cp -r cgminer/* /opt/miners/cgminernew rm -rf cgminer(7. dependancies, might need these, install if so, upgrade if already exist) sudo apt-get install libudev-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev pkg-config libtool libncurses5-dev (8. get adl for cgminer scrypt) cd /opt/miners/cgminernew/ADL_SDK wget http://goatpc.com/ADL_SDK_5.0.zip unzip ADL_SDK_5.0.zip cp include/* /opt/miners/cgminernew/ADL_SDK(9. compile cgminer) cd /opt/miners/cgminernew ./autogen.sh --enable-scrypt CFLAGS="-O2 -Wall -march=native" ./configure --enable-scrypt make
(9b. exit superuser) exit(10. cgminer should work, but bamt needs to know how to run it. modify common file for new cgminer) sudo nano /opt/bamt/common.pl(11. find startCG procuedre, the 2nd instance. comment out the "my $cmd" by putting a hashtag in front of it. below it, use this new command line below. save/exit when done.) my $cmd = "cd /opt/miners/cgminernew;/usr/bin/screen -d -m -S cgminer /opt/miners/cgminernew/cgminer $args";(12. create bash profile script to contain handy shortcuts) sudo nano /home/user/.bash_profile(13. paste this inside. add any other shortcuts. save/exit when done.) alias cgm='sudo screen -x cgminer'(14. install a more tuned-up tahiti scrypt for 79xx/R9 cards) cd /opt/miners/cgminernew sudo rm -rf scrypt130511Tahitiglg2tc24000w256l4.bin sudo wget http://goatpc.com/scrypt130511Tahitiglg2tc24000w256l4.binNow, with this done (presuming no errors), and with your cards/pools and bamt setup (/opt/bamt/bamt.conf & /opt/bamt/cgminer.conf), you should be able to fire up cgminer by using: sudo mine startand then, if all goes well, latch onto the cgminer instance by using this command: cgm------/fin Updated BAMT:Link to BAMT 1.2 which has cgminer 3.7.2: http://www.goatpc.com/litecoinbamt1.2.zip

Grabbed a couple of these to give them a shot: Prolimatech Ultra Sleek Vortex 14. They're 140mm, but only 15mm thick, so very slim. According to the specs, they're 0.1db quieter (18db) than the other ones I'm running, and they push 10CFM more air per fan. I've got a couple of cards which, despite all efforts, just want to act silly and run hotter than the rest. I popped a pair of these on and moved the GPU more into the cold-air path, and dropped 5*C. Not bad. I'm sure part of that is being closer to the cold air, but I'd say the combined 20CFM of extra airflow definitely helps. Cost twice as much as the Blue Vortex series, and the standard fan clips don't work (have to modify them a bit), so I can't see using them as the primary fan for my setup--but they certainly have a use. I'll get a few more just to have on hand. Figured I'd share my experience.

I have an MSI R9 280x which, despite whatever I change, refuses to go above 714-718kh. Makes me wonder if there's a batch of them which are odd this way. Reminded me of it when I saw yours.

the website is backup http://starcoin.info/Starcoin.zipwith a diff of 0.01 there is some easy mining of this coin Because ther is no issues with the coin, there was no reason for cryptsy to delist it. If everyone can be asking him to relist it, perhaps he will, when he sees there is still big interest in this coin. I made a support ticket about Starcoin under their "Coin Suggestions" tab and they just closed the ticket without ever responding. I know Cryptsy has been cutting coins that they think don't have active devs. Maybe if you could give them a shout and tell them that's everything is all good with the coin they will be more willing to add it back. Idk, it's worth a shot. Thanks for everything nzdude! I sent you a PM btw It doesn't help that there are issues. The new client fails to fully download the blockchain for me, and I'm apparently not alone. Even with the addnodes in my config.

Just one card is showing up on bamt in cgminer? Hrm. You cuold try the fglrx trick.
Also, I haven't tried 1.2, I'm using 1.1. Wonder if that makes a difference.

I'm borderline physically disabled, Wait, you're borderline physically disabled but you installed mains wiring and circuitry at your house? I'm guessing not physicall-bound-disabled. More power to your enthusiasm either way.
