Is there any chat service that is 100% secure, and encrypted chat that no government can track? I have nothing really to hide, but I like the fact that there is something out there that the government cant control. Cheesy

I haven't tried it, but there's TORchat: http://lifehacker.com/5919523/torchat-is-an-easy-to-use-anonymous-and-encrypted-chat-client

Haha, not those kind of women.

If you want to  get more women involved in Bitcoin, just simply tell more women about Bitcoin.
18343  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Predict the Date: When will Amazon accept Bitcoin ? on: December 29, 2013, 10:55:20 AM
Amazon may accept BTC in the future, but it wont be for a while yet. I think if the currency gains more mainstream traction with other merchants getting on board, then I think Amazon will too, but they wont be the first big retailer to adopt it.

i agree with that too, but then again i/we could be wrong. jeff bezos is a libertarian after all.

Is he? He seems just like another greedy tax-avoiding capitalist to me.

18345  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyway to instantly buy btc? on: December 29, 2013, 10:40:28 AM
Got a link? I've looked on ebay before but all i've seen are mining equipment or .01btc? nothing like 1 actual btc?

Just put a search reminder on. There was a lot of people selling 1BTC, but I guess most wont want to take the risk now.
18346  Other / Off-topic / Re: When Bitcoin reach $200,000 I want to get one of this. on: December 28, 2013, 02:26:06 PM
I can see Bitcoin being worth about 10K within a couple of years, but 200k is a bit extreme. Maybe if BTC becomes fully mainstream adopted, sure, but not otherwise.

18347  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tax refunds are a bad thing on: December 28, 2013, 02:10:11 PM
Remember people, tax refunds are a bad thing. It means you gave the government a free loan all year.

When your friends brag about their refund, laugh on the inside knowing those idiots don't realize it's their own money they lent out and watch them spend it frivolously.

While you had yours all year earning you interest and not the government.

I always got excited when  I got tax rebates in the past - now I'm sad because I've given them a free loan Sad

At least you are wiser now. People think it's free money, it's not, it's your money.

Obviously it's not free money, but it will feel like it, or at least like you've won some free prize raffle.
18348  Other / Off-topic / Re: Signature Advertising on: December 28, 2013, 02:08:16 PM
I think people tend to tip a lot more in different alt coins. I've seen a few people overjoyed at their mysterious doge and sexcoin tips haha.

Don't know much about those coins. There was a Litecoin giveaway here, as late as this September. Even I got a few coins (I think he was giving 0.1 each).  Grin

Yeah, doubt you'd get any Litecoins now. They can be profitable and that's what a lot of people hope for, but more often than not they're still practically worthless or at the most worth very little.
18349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin conspiracy theories on: December 28, 2013, 01:59:27 PM
Sorry if this destroys your world view OP, but there is no "backdoor" in SHA256, its a public known and tested algorithm.  One might be able to put a backdoor into an implementation or application based on it, or in a random number generator seeding the algorithm, but the algo itself is sound.  Also, China isn't going to become gold backed, their currency and entire economy is export driven and backed by sales of goods to the west, so they wind up owning lots of our currency (and assets).

OH... REALLY :-)...

http://www.vdschagt.com/bitcoin-surprisingly-dodges-cryptographic-bullet/

Even thought its not connected to bitcoin directly, (it doesnr affect him), its nice to see that all your crypto encryption fate isnt that strong (or rather correct)...

EDIT: Alex Jones is probably a CIA asset or in other words "fake" (and also has a nice business ripping people of), if you didnt realize it yet, you are doomed.

I haven't seen any evidence supporting that he's a CIA asset, but he does seem to be making a decnt living off peddling his paranoia products.

18350  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why the difference in exchange rate for USD between Mt Gox and BitStamp? on: December 28, 2013, 01:49:04 PM
OK, I'm proud to be a Newbie and you can probably tell my status from subject question...

Seems there is an opportunity to buy BTC in USD at BitStamp and sell at Mt Gox for arbitrage. Of course if it were that simple everyone would be doing it - but with a couple of quick searches I have not found this issue addressed on the forum. I look forward to a good answer from an Oldie.

Current rates:

Thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=387627.msg4173808#msg4173808

People do do it, but Gox is a bastard for getting funds in and out. I'd look for different exchanges if you're going to arbitrage.

While you had yours all year earning you interest and not the government.

Banks are paying interest again?
Didn't you notice bitcoin went from 100 to 1000 in a year?

Umm... yes I noticed, then it went back down again.
18353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: newbies *have* to post here first? on: December 28, 2013, 12:06:23 PM
thank-you for the clarification (4 hours of browsing the forums, eh? nearly there then...)
hopefully future newbies will find this thread useful.  Wink

Yeah, and all the other threads  Cheesy.
18354  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BountyCoin alive? on: December 28, 2013, 12:05:22 PM
^^^ And what is your problem?

I think he's just copying and pasting posts.

Lols I realized that.
My question was why was he doing that and I was a bit curios about the symptoms because I saw this illness spreading around in the newbie area.

I've seen it a few times. I reckon they're just trying to bolster their post-count to get out of newbie jail.

1% baby

Fiat to the moon!

I think I'd rather just keep my near 1000% Bitcoin interest.

18357  Other / Off-topic / Re: BTC as Presents??? on: December 28, 2013, 11:32:36 AM
Well it would be weird to give someone 0.05 BTC or so if you ask me. On the other hand 1 BTC looks too much.

What's weird about it? I'd be happy if I got 0.05 BTC. Is it any different to getting £20/25? Plus, hopefully they'll realise the investment potential.

Cheques to be paid in via smartphones

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25495962

Wow, what a revolution. NOT!

Lol, who actually uses cheques any more?

Very few, even in the UK.

Just read the article:

Quote
The government believes a change in the law in the UK would also promote the continuing use of cheques.

The UK Payments Council was originally planning to abolish all cheque payments by 2018, but was forced to change its mind after public opposition.

They really should've just killed them off. Hopefully Bitcoin can help with that.

Don't forget the UK has a very ageing population. They are scared of change. Many still get their pensions that way. I don't think bitcoins would do it for them .... give it a few years ... or 10 Smiley

People get their pensions in cheques? Surely it's all bank transfers now?
18359  Other / Meta / Re: Cannot Watch topics. on: December 28, 2013, 10:45:25 AM
The unwatch feature doesn't seem to work either.

Do you have posts in the thread you want to unwatch or not?

Yeah. Is there a way around unwatching these?

Deleting your posts? =)))
No , I don't have any idea , at least not one working.

There's no way I'm deleting my precious posts haha.
