1841  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [0 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); Temporary closed on: October 20, 2011, 01:44:51 AM
a) to the person that coined the Bitcoin term "asspenny" I hate you.

b) It's ridiculous to think one pool owner is responsible for all of these attacks

c) Slush, I love you man. You were the first pool I ever mined on way back when dont give up brother!

d) I honestly think that these denial of service attacks are coming from people that hate Bitcoin and consider this to be an opportune time to destroy it, the values are so low they think they can make wipe us out completely by doing this. I do not believe its an angry botnet owner who's only motivation is revenge, as a psychologist this does not make since to me, someone who owns a Bitcoin mining botnet is motivated by money and he is losing money like everyone else right now. Also the person that is holding down all these pools has tremendous bandwidth at his disposal. It's almost as if this is a sponsored attack by someone that has some serious (legit?) FIRE POWER. If it were a hacker -  This kind of attack would require a great deal of rooted *nix boxes to accomplish this.

well I hate to be right in this situation but I predicted that we would get attacked when Luke-JR goes on vacation Sad

this sucks , eligius, slush, btcguild, my 3 favs all getting attacked

deepbit is alive but I refuse to go down that road

I am mining at GuildMiners.com just because no one else is, I am basically solo mining if anyone wants to join me

where are you guys mining right now?
1843  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service [GLBSE] on: October 20, 2011, 12:16:17 AM
is there a download manager that anyone recommends?
1844  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service [GLBSE] on: October 19, 2011, 11:15:49 PM
@cablepair: the server does not limit the speed of downloads. It will upload as fast as is possible over your connection, up to a maximum of 100mbit. It is only limited by your broadband speed and your location (i.e. the route the traffic takes). You could try using a download manager such as FDM (free download manager) that opens multiple connections to the server. This often helps improve the download speed if your ISP throttles traffic over single connections or your connectivity to the server is not the best. I max out my download speed (30mbit) pulling files from this server.

Link sharing isn't something that I would be too keen to approve of, simply because of the fact that the links may end up anywhere. But I can't really stop you. All I can do is ask you not to share the links in a public forum where people will redistribute them ad-infinitum.

So basically, go ahead - but don't abuse it.

Dude I have a 20/5 cable connection and I get 2.0+mbps download speeds all the time, this is crawling at 90-200kbps Sad maybe I will try a download manager thanks
1845  Economy / Services / [NOMINATION] on: October 19, 2011, 11:13:50 PM
I would like to nominate nextshare. He has a proven and documented track record for being honest while doing business online (   gpg_identity=http://www.bitshift.io/forum.asc)

I can also speak for at least 5 or 6 transactions I conducted with him myself. In every transaction I purchased something off of him worth $150-$200 and in every transaction I paid him Bitcoins up front and he shipped the items as promised - the items were always honestly portrayed and he always conducted himself in an honest and trust worthy fashion. I have been on these forums for 6 months and completed many business deals - I consider nextshare to be among the most trustworthy people I have dealt with. He also has some medical problems that may prevent him from working so making a little income as an escrow middle man would be a good opportunity for him. He is a honest and moral person and For these reasons I feel that he would be an ideal person for this escrow league.

1846  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service [GLBSE] on: October 19, 2011, 09:35:05 PM
its a cool service and very slick but I dont think I would use it again simply because although the download speed your service got while downloading the torrent for me was very very good (3.5mbps) the speed from you to me is not so good (250kbps) I have no problem downloading torrents but I was using your service to download this 10 gb torrent faster, and it simply is not. In any case I really like everything else about it and I wish you allowed faster download speeds from you to me! This would definitely have me coming back as a customer.

One last question ? Do you mind if I share this link with others?

thank you

groovy man Tongue

I actually wrote a dos program in C  back in the day - in the wild west days of efnet, but those days are long behind me, oh well thanks for the info :0

haha, u and me both, brother.    Tongue

mine was called Thc.420 (yes I was a teenager at the time)
it was a major improvement on smurf
and paved the way for slice which came out a year or so afterwards

I remember the administrator from Hawaii.edu calling me on the phone at my parents house one night at 3 Am and politely asked me to stop holding his network down, (he found my nick in the greets in my code somewhere on a hacked shell account some where on his network and looked up cablepair.org which I owned at the time) and assumed it was me who hacked his network

definitely put a scare in me. Smiley

yikes your right, damn if I wasnt at work I would be solo mining to see if I could get lucky!

btw: I'm kind of old when it comes to the internet, when I was a youngin hanging around hackers, irc and packet kiddies (way back in the 90s) we just called it dos for denial of service attack, I noticed in modern internet lingo everyone calls it ddos now, so whats the extra d for?

Cool, I knew Luke-jr, was a Christian (so am I) so I figured it was something like that.

thanks for the info!
1853  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service [GLBSE] on: October 19, 2011, 12:48:34 PM
using your service to download battlefield 3... pretty cool man, thanks Smiley

edit: really fast too 3.5+mb

question: how long do I have to download it from you, after you have completed the download?
1854  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 GH/s] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: October 19, 2011, 10:45:58 AM
Interesting...

Well thank you for taking the time to explain everything to me, now I understand what the "Luke-Jr Method is" I really dont mind waiting, I have mined extensively at every other pool out there, and this one is my preference. One more thing I am curious about where does the name come from?

p.s. have a great vacation Luke-Jr - see ya when you get back Smiley
1855  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 GH/s] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: October 19, 2011, 01:58:36 AM
Luke-JR is a smart man, if you were to calculate a ratio of pool owner profitability against pool speed his pool is probably the most profitable one out there without charging any kind of up front fee. Genius.
1856  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 GH/s] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: October 19, 2011, 01:52:00 AM
I understand now. Smiley Thank you. I guess I never took the time to really understand how this thing works, and every day since I started mining I have been getting paid everyday. It seemed odd to me that when we have a really quick round we only get paid a little but when we have a long round we get paid a lot, I guess its the way everything evens out, on every other pool I've ever mined on the exact opposite is true, or its the exactly the same every round no matter the length.

1857  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 GH/s] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: October 19, 2011, 01:18:27 AM
very cool piece of code you got here, and I already understand how his payment system works. But you must admit it seems like things are not moving as quickly as they usually do....

Ever since I started mining at this pool I would receive at least 1 payout per day, today I have not received any. It looks to me like things are backed up and thats why I asked Luke-Jr the question I did.
1858  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 GH/s] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: October 18, 2011, 10:25:21 PM
has anyone else not seen a payout at all today?

My unpaid reward is at almost 5 BTC now...

Luke-Jr: Any thoughts?

ahahha Smiley I actually laughed out loud on that one.
1860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Dont Get Discouraged My Brothers. on: October 18, 2011, 12:13:29 AM
I just want to post a positive note to my brothers and sisters in Bitcoin land. The price drop is hurting a lot of people right now, and a lot of people are getting discouraged. I just saw a local guy put his 3.5 ghash mining operation for sale on craigslist including 9 GPU's - his asking price $1000 or best offer! In July that rig could of sold for $3000, times are getting tough my friends but don't let it discourage you. It can only go up from here and believe me it will. Miners... I have not sold any mined Bitcoins since they were at $11, you know why? Because I truly believe that they are worth more than a couple of bucks a piece and I am not going to panic and sell the wallet off because I am afraid of losing. Keep your coins - or better yet INVEST them in a Bitcoin business.

I remember late last winter when the price went from $0.85 to $2.00 - you know how freakin ecstatic I was?? I remember that feeling and I remember selling 50 coins when they were at $30 a pop and thinking aint life grand and all that happy horse sh1t, but damn look at us now. I will not be discouraged and don't let it discourage you. This is a growing pain and we will come out of it stronger. I know for myself I am in this for the long run and if you truly love Bitcoin and want to see this thing work you need to take on a similar attitude.

Still pissed about the price drop? Go tell everyone you know that Bitcoin is the best currency that ever existed and explain to them why. Then set your ask offer at MTGox to $10.00 log out and leave it.

STAY STRONG BRO'S I LUV YOU ALL Smiley
