ive been looking for the same thing

shallot is awesome but its cpu only

so it takes like a month + to generate 8 characters of vanity

any longer than 8 is basically impossible (well implausible time wise)

again this is for generating vanity .onion addresses for the tor network not for bitcoin addresses

Well ... have BFL created a thread anywhere yet?
dont think so

where are you located?
are you licensed to business there?
are you incorporated, llc, self employed ?
Seriously? If you signed up for emails, it's right at the bottom. I believe it has been mentioned on the forums as well.

For everyone's convenience, I'll answer this again:

1. We're located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

2. We're incorporated federally, and here's our incorporation information page:

https://www.ic.gc.ca/app/scr/cc/CorporationsCanada/fdrlCrpDtls.html?corpId=7952988&V_TOKEN=1331589171870&crpNm=largecoin&crpNmbr=&bsNmbr=

In Canada, there is only one kind of corporation - we don't have the concept of LLCs, C-corps, etc..
I actually looked for this answer and could not find it

what methods of payment are you accepting?

i just want to comment here as someone who actually ran a decent size mining operation all summer long last year

unless you live in the arctic circle or some damn place your going to need a powerful and high quality air conditioner to cool the immediate space around your rigs - there's just no way around it

i had about 6ghash over the summer and i had a brand new Frigidaire 12.5k btu ac and on real hot days it struggled to keep up and the only area it was cooling was my mining room - and this is upstate ny, if you live in arizona or something similar your going to need some real cooling power

946  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: LargeCoin Announces 50% Coupon, FAQ on: March 12, 2012, 09:44:18 PM
ttul, you have ignored my previous question regarding selling your chips to OEMs who will then include them in smaller products targeted at the private individual. I have a feeling that the number of people willing to invest $500-$1000 in Bitcoin (through such a small device) can bring in a larger sum in total than the number individuals willing to invest $30,000. Can I get you to make a comment on this?

Okay, everyone. We've read the forums, and have carefully considered the ROI calculations that have been submitted by various of you. We have also talked to many of you by telephone. After much research and contemplation, we have decided to offer the first 25 customers who order a C200 unit by April 15 a 50% discount on our initial price of $30,000 per unit to ensure that we can establish trust with an initial group of customers. This means the deposit amount is reduced to $2,250 per unit, and the unit cost is reduced to just $15,000.

This is a fantastic offer, and since sending out an announcement to our list less than an hour ago, we have received

If you wish to make an order, please visit our order form: http://bit.ly/A53ShJ

Q&A

1. What will happen if my order is #26? Will I still get a discount?

No, we are only offering this discount on first first 25 orders received by April 15, 2012. If your order is not in the first 25, or if we receive it after April 15, then you will be placed on a waiting list, which we will fill if someone from the first 25 orders fails to provide their deposit in a timely manner.

2. Will the price be reduced after April 15?

Probably not. We still believe that $30,000 per unit represents good value when you consider the long term growth of Bitcoin and the potential of a difficulty increase to quickly erase any ROI difference with FPGA-based offerings.

3. Will you offer a smaller unit that costs less?

Not until at lease late 2012. For now, we need to focus on shipping to a small number of eager customers who can validate that our technology works, and help to evangelize LargeCoin to a larger audience of smaller customers in future.

4. Can I order more than one unit at this price?

Yes, you can order multiple units. We have placed an arbitrary cap of 5 units per customer; however, if you have a strong interest in ordering more than 5 units at this time, please contact us. We will consider larger orders on a case by case basis.

5. Who will the escrow agent be?

We are still working this out. When we have the escrow details ready, everyone who has filled in our order form will receive an email from us with a copy of the escrow agreement and full details of the escrow agent. Everyone will have plenty of time to do their own diligence on the escrow agent and the agreement before sending any deposit funds.

6. Why should I trust you guys?

You don't have to trust us. Your money will be escrowed, and we won't use any of it until the devices have been validated by an independent third party as ready for shipping. We won't even take your final payment until you have received the product. This is the reason behind our DRM mechanism, which allows you to try the device for 30 days after receiving it, without giving us any money.

PM me or make a post if you have any additional questions not answered here.

that means its not connecting to bitcoind

is this happening all the time or just temporarily when you first start up?

because if its not happening all the time I would not worry about it

Cool! Nice to see this information in one place. A couple clarifications about the X6500.

First of all, it's not my X6500. It's the FPGA Mining X6500. We are made up of fpgaminer, li_gangyi, and myself. Also, Cablesaurus.com is our distributor, so that we can focus on working with FPGAs instead of USPS. Smiley

Our forum thread is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40058

Our website is: fpgamining.com

The X6000 has been discontinued, due to lack of demand. Dual FPGAs really makes much more sense anyways.

I've been doing a lot of careful power measurements over the last few days. At 200 MHz (400 MH/s total), I'm seeing 16.36 W, measured at the board directly. It would be nice to get power measurements of each of the FPGA miners under the same conditions for a proper comparison. I'll be posting the results of my tests (power consumption measured at a range of clock speeds) in our thread and on our website soon. I'll also do the same tests on several different boards to see how much it varies from FPGA to FPGA.

Finally, we're about to start shipping the latest incarnation of X6500, the rev 3. This one has some nice new features, most notable of which is probably the on board temperature sensors. I believe that none of the other FPGAs have this. I think it is a crucial feature to protecting your FPGA miners when something goes wrong (e.g., fan failure). Here's a glamour shot:  Tongue

Updated Cheesy

nice to see those improvements on ztex but jut want to note

not true

the BFL BitFORCE Single has temp sensors - it automatically throttles itself down if it gets too hot - also the latest compile of cgminer shows accurate temps for BFL.

Anybody with a Bitforce Single feel like trading for a 7970 and a few BTC?  PM me.
Ohhh,  now that is tempting. Must weigh it over for a while.  Undecided

tempting really? shit they cost about the same amount of money I will buy you a brand new 7970 if you want to trade lol

The 7970 I have is brand new in an unopened box.  I would also be willing to throw in some BTC.  If someone were interested...

Yeah but is yours autographed by Dirk Benedict ?

It may be profitable as a CPU miner on Litecoin especially if the LTC price rises a bit?

lol I think there's a better chance of Satoshi Nakamoto trying out for American Idol (and winning)

Dude, I remember using a fucking tape for the first time. Rocking it old school.

Oh yea?

I remember using punch cards for the first time.

I ordered two of them (two separate vendors), one is going to be a part of my 8 year old sons science project , and the second is going to become our new digital media player for our living room entertainment system Smiley

In terms of mining, I cant see the value in actually using it to mine - or how long the ARM processor would even last under 24/7 mining conditions but it would be a neat host for a set of BitFORCE singles Smiley Smiley Smiley

Indeed, wouldn't prob last that long, but it's nice to see that a "lowly ARM CPU" can pack even that much of a punch.

Where did you find them? I've been wanting to order one but can't find anywhere for sale :/
When I first heard about them I went to a couple sites I found on google and then registered "interest" about a week ago they emailed me and allowed me to place my order and pay for them

edit: just checked on my order (newark), my order is scheduled to ship on 04/03 so about 3 more weeks

I remember that too, I was in the second grade - The Beastie Boys - Find for your right to party / I felt like the coolest kid in the world at that moment Smiley

but im talking about that wow factor, cds did not even have the wow factor like when MP3 was introduced (Except when i got my first cd-rom drive - that was REALLY cool), not for guys like us that been around for awhile, im sure the guys who are here in there early 20s dont even care cause they grew up with them

Yeah, I do... I threw up a little in my mouth, but I was in public, so I had to swallow it.  It was gross.

how about this do you remember using an mp3 player for the first time? (for me it was the year 2000 and maybe im too much of a geek but I was in love)

Guys, how many of you received their equipment? Is this company reliable or is this another scam? I would like to order few basic platforms, but I do not know if they can be trusted.

Guess it depends on your definition of scam, they seem to be trying to run a legit company.
The question comes down to "How much risk are you willing to take?"

My concern is that they are selling a one-trick pony.  From what I've read they use an encrypted bitstream and, if I understand that correctly, that means only BFL can provide another bitstream that would work. Also there's the issue of the unknown hardware that they use. It seems that they bought the chips (stratix?) at some reduced price which suggests that they have some number of chips but can get no more. So 6 months from now when yours has an issue you're out of luck if it's the FPGA.  That's too much risk for me, 6 month warranty doesn't inspire my confidence.

I was originally one of their strictest critics and now (after receiving my first BitForce Single) I believe know that they are completely legit.

Hi Cablepair. I'm glad to hear that they're legit and that you've received your single, but I'm curious how long did it take from the moment you pre-ordered to the moment it arrived at your door. I'd like to buy one for shitz and giggles (although I prefer Icarus and X6500 due to their greater power efficiency) but I have doubts that it will be worthwhile to wait 6 weeks to get one.

hi allinvain Smiley

Let me clarify, the one BitFORCE single that I have - I did not purchase from BFL, I also did not could not wait six weeks to get one (I just had to have it!) so I was able to make a deal with one of the lucky individuals that got one on the very first shipment and when it got here a couple days later (thank you priority mail) I was very very impressed with it, its a remarkable piece of equipment - it is engineered extremely well and I love the fact that it just works! It runs full blast mining away 24/7 with no software changes or overclocking, if it starts to get too warm it throttles it self down and corrects itself. Its very impressive and I love it. I added it to a machine that has two 6990s in it just for comparison and its very impressive.

So I start opening up a conversation with Sonny from BFL - he seems to be the guy who wears the P.R./C.S. hat, and I start emailing back and forth , probing for information - feeling them out, and now I feel a lot better about this. I was able to place an order for two more of the BitFORCE singles and pay via dwolla, they sent me an invoice and I paid the invoice it all feels very legit to me now. I could be wrong but I have a good feeling about BFL that I did not have before, mostly the product itself won me over. Theres a little bit of genius - magic there that always wins me over when I experience it and why I work in the technology field (remember the first time you used an iPhone?)

As BFL is not really a part of this community coming into this I don't think they realized how exciting and demanding we would be about their product and how critical we would be of them. Although their customer service was incredibly poor and they made some mistakes that set off a lot of red flags for a lot of people (myself included) I think we were over critical of them and I think they are getting it together. I also think a lot of their delayed shipping times have to do with the amount of liquid cash they have and the amount of chips they can have made at one time. It seems to me that once we get to the 3rd and 4th shipments it will be a lot quicker because of these reasons.
