Congrats on the increased hash power guys Smiley

For me, finding a 280x isn't an issue. Finding it for a price I like, is the issue. I refuse to pay $100..$200 over MSRP. $15, maybe $50 over if it's my precious MSI series. But nowhere beyond that..

Newegg and Tigerdirect seem to be on the 'well screw it, we will charge $100..$200..$300 over msrp' bandwagon. So I just keep refreshing Amazon's in-stock, and hitting 1-click-buy LOL

I agree with you 100% on the price thing.  I cringed ordering those 280xs from Newegg, but my pops wanted to move on a rig ASAP.  We'll make ROI no problem, but it will haunt me lol.

I emailed a distributor on Alibaba on those pre-branding GPUs... I'll see what they say about price and quantity.  If I can buy them direct, I'm just going to start going that route.  I don't need them to say Sapphire on the shroud.  I just need them to mine.  I'll let you know what they say.

Yeah definitely. Hell I don't even need them to have coolers on them if it saves money haha

@Dabs - Not going to sell rigs at a future price of PHP...that's the price I will be selling it for, not buying at..lol... but perhaps we can do a deal so you can pay me back in TAG while you mine it - ..Smiley - Let me get BAMT working to get the cards up to 750khs.

I'd be interested. Can you post specs, like what mobo, memory, cpu, psu?

Mark, see if you can get these on the cheap: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1021325751/1x_to_1X_4x_8x_16x.html.  I've been eyeing this style for a few days now.  I just got a regular 1x to 1x powered riser and it ended up being bad.  I'll scoop up a half dozen or so of these via a tag transaction if you can get them cheap.

Intriguing! I'd love to try 3 of those out.

Installed and booted BAMT 1.2 on 8GB stick...but no networking, tried to add from right hand menu, tried to set manually via /etc/network and resolv.conf but no luck. Does BAMT need configuring of network cards?

I tested the cards, seems 1.2 needs updating of drivers, will try the v12 drivers before beta 13...

UPDATE: seems the mobo needs an update of the lan driver..
http://rumorscity.com/2013/12/14/bamt-why-gigabyte-intel-z87-chipset-could-not-connect-to-the-internet/
will try that later and see if it works..

Keep us up to date Smiley

Regarding settings, I don't specify the gpu threads flag in my config--I can't recall what it defaults to. Here's a rough breakdown of what I do have:

Intensity: 20
Worksize: 256
Kernel: Scrypt
Threadconcurrency: 24000
Expiry: 120
Engine: 1080
Memory: 1500
Powertune: 20
Queue: 1
Scantime: 60

I think the steepest increase will be the first two or three months of 2014. After that I expect we will begin to approach a more linear growth. Anyway, thats for the mining speculation subforum I guess.

^- Agree.
1845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: STAR COIN [STR] - The coin with bonus STAR blocks on: December 19, 2013, 03:38:11 PM
Running the new client, it still has issues with checkpoint too old, randomly stops downloading blocks even though it's connected to the network. What gives? This is half the reason the coin died.
1846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 19, 2013, 01:14:34 PM
Instead of flat we've added about 3 PH in 9 days. Thats is a big surprise to me. Is there any chance part of this is KnC private mining operation that they now may or may not sell off?

Not sure why this should surprise anyone. It's been discussed that the network rate would be inreasing a lot, in lumps, over the next few months. Who it comes from, to me, isn't that important, because there's lots of vendors out there working on their gear, getting it out the door, and not all of them are as public about it. My projections from a few months back are a little off because 2 of the vendors I've talked to are a little behind.

Still, the hashrate is going to skyrocket this quarter as long as the other chips fall into place. Q2 will be worse if my longterm predictions are close.

tagbond, post back your results or if you need help. I can post up what I do to bamt if you need.

...try 1080/1500 i-20 powertune-20 on the MSI 280x's, it's what I'm running. I tried variations on engine clock from 950-1100 with 1080 being about the best so far. Everytime I twiddled with memoryclock it funked out. I get some variation in the hash, I'm not sure if it's cgminer or driver related (using old 12x drivers)...

How are you getting intensity of 20? I can nothing over 13 to work... the hardware errors just go through the roof.

It's probably OS and/or driver related. You're running 13x drivers. I heard horror stories about folks under linux trying to use those with the 79xx series cards, so I never updated BAMT from the 12x drivers. I would say to start there, go back to whatever the latest 12x drivers were.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd say it might be Windows, but that's just a maybe. I'm thinking more driver related.

I'm using BAMT 1.1 modified (a debian OS) with 12x drivers on cgminer 3.4.2/3.

24kilo & tagbond, try 1080/1500 i-20 powertune-20 on the MSI 280x's, it's what I'm running. I tried variations on engine clock from 950-1100 with 1080 being about the best so far. I'm on cgminer 3.4.3, will try a newer version when I get a chance. Maybe tonight.

Here's a quick snapshot of the rig with the R9's. GPU0 needs to be spaced out more:

And one of several rigs using MSI 7950's, this is the the one with the normal hottest temps. GPU1 is too close to GPU0:

1849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin on: December 18, 2013, 07:51:02 PM
OK..will try that out..spent quite a bit of time getting the xubuntu to work, so might as well do something with this..I take it you updated it manually since the current version needs latest drivers etc.. Once i Have it up and running, then I can sell individual mining rigs to people here to mine TAG (or whatever else they want, but TAG will be the primary one I will push..)

I took the bamt1.1 litecoin image, burned it to USB, and the updating I did was to cgminer, the scrypt kernel and some scripts to my liking. Didn't touch the AMD drivers, since 7950/7970 drivers work for the R9 series (270/280/290).

Out of the box bamt1.1 will run the cards, just not as fast as I'm at right now (3.4.3). I'm about to move to a newer version of cgminer to see how it does.

If mining this coin could get me a day with Alessandra Torresani and/or Genevieve Buechner.. i'd mine this coin very much. Haha.
1851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin on: December 18, 2013, 06:36:03 PM
What OS are you using to get 750 khs? I can get that using Windows 8, but not with xubuntu..max i get after tweaking is around 550 to 600...

I'm getting 740ish, using BAMT 1.1 with some tweaks. It's based off of Debian I believe. No undervolting, just stock.
1852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin on: December 18, 2013, 03:54:49 PM
As for those rigs, PHP35k is a 2 MH/s miner? Reserve me a couple of units, I'm buying after Christmas (when I get my bonus).

I think 2 x 280x would be more lik 1.5-1.6MH.  But 35k PHP is like 800 USD, and a steal on a full rig.  You'd get killed in international shipping and taxes if you had one shipped to the US.

Damn stupid taxes  Angry

Yeah I'd love to grab the GPU's and/or the rigs for a good rate, but shipping it here makes me wonder if it'll take too much of a hit. Sapphire 280x's are getting 740-780 depending on which model it is. To reach 3mh you'd need 4 of them. Unless it's a 290, which can do close to 1mh per gpu.

My MSI R9 280X rig is 2.2mh, 3 @ 740kh. $300USD per GPU to my doorstep, or $240 if I'm using amazon giftcards.

Humorous prediction: Chinese govt & people will wait until the value is absolutely tanked, and then corner the market by buying the majority of bitcoin. Sometime later, they will announce bitcoin is the best thing ever. Value shoots back up, and they now control the market.

This has been asked before but I can't recall the answer--is there an explorer which can search for transactions/final balance based on wallet address?
1855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 18, 2013, 02:48:53 PM
When I enter my account thru the reseller portal it looks like my regular account.  All my orders are there too ...Do the machines I buy normally count towards the ten required for a free jupier??

Sam told me that yes, if you make purchases using your reseller link, it's no different than using someone else's--that particular reseller ID is credited with each sale. So if you bought 10 whatevers with your reseller ID, you will receive 1 bonus whatever.

I was reading that the Chinese govt has told the exchanges they can no longer convert to fiat or deal (trade/move/etc) with fiat at all, rendering them no longer an exchange.

Anyone else confirm this?

Wonder if they're doing this to cause a drop on purpose. To what end would be the question.
1858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin on: December 18, 2013, 05:33:47 AM
Newegg had stock on Sapphire 280Xs earlier today.  I got all excited until I remembered that I don't have any fiat lol.

If Newegg only took Tagcoin... oh man.

I know right? One day.

@Dabs - Sapphire R9 280X (same as 7970's I think) - I can do the whole rig of mobo, 2 x Sapphire 280X cards, 2GB RAM, 1050 PSU, 8GB USB with Xubuntu, latest catalyst drivers, cgminer with scripts ready to go, working (no case)...just plug in and mobo will startup automatically, then can remotely administer via ssh or hook up a monitor. Change one line in your mine_tag.sh script for the pool to connect to..obviously you can mine anything you want..Wink - Price is 35,000 Pesos (or equivalent in BTC, TAG)

How much for just the GPUs shipped to America? lol

Damnit, Vesper... let me catch up to your hashpower first lol.

You're safe for now, more MSI's became available on Amazon but before I could finish checking out, they were sold. Stupid mobile internet connection died on me lol.

Back to refreshing the inventory pages every few moments.. lol

Cool beans I'll check it out Smiley

I took my new R9 280x's offline a few hours ago to put the new coolers on, and then I got sidetracked. Just got them back online. Silence is golden.

Do you control what MPOS puts in the Miner's API? Right now it has hashrate, share rate, worker info, etc. Wondering if 'confirmed/unconfirmed' balance could be added..
