yes but if you take into consideration what the price was like a decade ago then you can see the the price is still pretty high.  I believe the price will soar but you shouldn't expect something like that over night.  I for one suspect manipulation in that market and would be cautious is what I'm getting at.

I really think that an unexpected event can happen --- gold crashing down to its intrinsic value.

As technology advances, the intrinsic value of gold may go up but I don't think it can go that much up. Ancient aliens were into gold for some reason, but it is highly speculative to think that man kind starts building pyramids with their tips made of pure gold any time soon.

Maybe buying land / houses and apartments would be a better alternative?

I'm bearish for conventional energy production too because the suppressed technology of Nikolai Tesla may soon find its way to the main stream. If energy becomes a free resource then you wouldn't want to be in the same boat with fossil fuels companies and its best friends.

Thanks for the great ideas. However, does anyone deem it reasonable to buy gold instead/also?

My current opinion is that gold is just a shiny metal uncomfortable to transport and store and when crypto currencies really succeed gold is determined to lose most of its value. Yet, buying gold is probably still a smart move for the sake of diversification.
1843  Economy / Speculation / Re: Making my first prediction for 4/30/14 - 5/13/14 based on a dream I had on: April 17, 2014, 01:46:08 PM
the Universe has ways of teaching him lessons until a severe enough lesson is dealt out that he finally feels compelled to cease his misguided and unsuitable activities.

Elaborating on that. One should always choose the path with heart. A path that has a heart is always joyful and pleasant while a path without heart is full of misery. What is more, by the time you realize it, the path without heart is ready to kill you. Everyone would know if a certain path has a heart or not. The problem is, no one asks the question.

You might want to leave your prediction at http://cryptograffiti.info/

Anyway, I think 350 was the ultimate bottom and now that people start to realize it, the price starts climbing towards 666 again.

How do I know 380 350 was the ultimate bottom? Here's the proof:

According to the 1. law of life -- conservation of irony -- and the fact that I was forced to sell 500 euros worth of bitcoins last Friday at market price while knowing that it was really bad time to sell, we can deduce that it had to be the worst time to sell. Thus, ~350$ was the ultimate bottom. I was actually lucky enough to sell at 400 instead of 350, so it could have been worse, I shouldn't complain.
1845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Right now - The single most important Breakout on: April 17, 2014, 05:37:12 AM

If we hit 900 or something soon then the weekly pSar will flip. That would mean something serious.
1846  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC stay above 500 for now? on: April 15, 2014, 10:41:30 PM
Looking at the last dead cat bounces, if we don't drop hard soon the last 4 month downtrend might be over.
1847  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC stay above 500 for now? on: April 15, 2014, 10:05:36 PM
Holy shit, it's coming on again. 507 and rising
1848  Economy / Speculation / Re: So.. what the hell happened today? on: April 15, 2014, 09:31:08 PM
I could lose by suffering from terrible market exit and entry timing which can only be down to some psychological flaw that I suffer from but can't recognise what it is.

It is greed. Once you realize you can't have it all, and be content with just having 1000% per year, you will never lose again Wink

I am not a greedy person. Greed isn't my problem.

My problem probably lies somewhere in my overly emotional, impulsive and reactionary nature. Trading is a game for cool headed, precarious, and patient types....and that aint me and it never will be so I may as well just admit it to myself.

When/if I take another position in Bitcoin, it will be long, holding Bitcoins long term in an actual cold store wallet with no attempts to trade. My buy-in point will also  be lower than the $340 low of last week.......and the last I heard from the little elves in my head, it is going to happen at some point.

Every single time I have attempted short term trading, I have lost money Cheesy luckily I have only lost some pocket money that way, big gains sit in long term holdings. I'd still say it's greed whether you admit it or not. If you're not greedy, take that beer money profit Cheesy and you'd be always a winner. But who wants beer money? That's not exciting at all. So short term trading becomes gambling.
1849  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT, Bitcoin is on the verge of collapse !!! on: April 15, 2014, 09:02:56 PM
So, did it collapse?
1850  Economy / Speculation / Re: So the 15th Is Here on: April 15, 2014, 03:34:09 PM
What was supposed to happen anyway? I never got the essence of 15th's FUD.
1851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Spring Rally! on: April 15, 2014, 08:58:08 AM
It's going up faster than it came down.. Soon 666$ thread will pop up again.
1852  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are there any bulls left? on: April 14, 2014, 10:05:30 PM
I'm sperma bull .. ehm, I mean perma-bull.
1853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greatest Pump'n'Dump Ever on: April 11, 2014, 09:42:34 AM
I already feel indifference. I think it's one of the last phases of difficult psychological suffering. My dreams are giving me random noise, mixed with the writing of my master's thesis and Bitcoin price movements. About the latter, tonight I saw that price went to 500$ in a single surge. I was amazed but then took a closer look and saw that this was in some newly created exchange and Bitstamp remained 350ish.
1854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core (Bitcoin-Qt) 0.9.1 released - update required on: April 11, 2014, 09:34:43 AM
Maybe that's how all the darkweb marketplaces and forums got shut down? Utopia was butchered at birth, Black Market Reloaded Forum was also shut down by police.
1855  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will this stupid bear market end? on: April 10, 2014, 07:38:28 PM
stupid stupid bear market, stupid.

At the end of last year many cool new projects were pre announced. I have always had the feeling that behind the curtains hard core bitcoin infrastructure development is taking place, soon these projects should be complete and we will see a wave of good news. I remember these hardware wallets for example. Also, I suspect that soon some big company will announce that they accept bitcoin because it has been a while since something like that happened. if I remember correctly, overstock was the latest.
1856  Economy / Speculation / Greatest Pump'n'Dump Ever on: April 10, 2014, 04:00:47 PM
Tinfoil hat --- checked.
Safety goggles --- checked.

I suspect a giant pump and dump is going on. Chinese officials know that they drive the market so they are now manipulating it. Once the price is tanked they allow bitcoin trading again, pumping up the price. Then they will ban bitcoin AGAIN to make it crash as it does right now. They repeat the cycle until it is profitable. At least I'd do that if I was a corrupt slant eyed politician.
1857  Economy / Speculation / Re: VICTORY. We finally broke $400 on: April 10, 2014, 03:40:04 PM
parabolic downfall is forming, be prepared for anti crash.
1858  Economy / Speculation / Re: RELAX DONT PANIC.. HUOBI DID NOT BAN ALL BANKS! on: April 10, 2014, 05:47:43 AM
I wonder if we get these china posts the whole year or will it die off eventually Cheesy.
1859  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has mining ever been profitable "at current rates"? on: April 10, 2014, 05:38:00 AM
The sad thing is that historically you would always make a better investment by buying and holding bitcoins than buying mining hardware.

That is false. I bought my mining gear at the end of May 2011. It has made me many more Bitcoins than I could otherwise buy at the price then with the amount I spent.
The GPUs are still working to this day.

That's not when my history begins. Also, during rallies, mining may become temporarily profitable, depending whether you hold your coins or sell them immediately and maybe buy them back after a crash has occurred. Either way your tales of mining are of primordial times and somewhat irrelevant. Thanks for pointing it out though, it's good to know how the things were once upon a time Cheesy
1860  Economy / Speculation / Re: THE REAL FUTURE OF BITCOIN on: April 10, 2014, 05:27:57 AM
... and the real reason bitcoin took off: you can buy drugs with it.

Maybe we're in depression because something bad is going on in the onion land right now?
