1881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates wasn’t joking when he said Bitcoin was better than Fiat Currency on: January 10, 2018, 02:08:43 PM
Better? What does it mean?

Reading your post, I understand it means that bitcoin is more convenient than fiat currencies. Thank you but we didn't need Bill Gates to tell us so..

Bitcoin is not "better", it is completely different. It holds lots of hope and opportunities as thanks to the blockchain, you are no longer dependent on large institutions that actually control the market. Of course, "large" bitcoin owners may influence rates... But nothing comparable with the manipulations that can currently be made by traditionnal banks!

I don't know how much Billy knows about bitcoin but... He is just a rich man. Him saying that bitcoin is great does not make bitcoin great. Bitcoin is great in itself and don't need recognition from billionnaires. I am quite fed up with all these posts about "famous people" endorsing bitcoin. We don't need it. If you believe in bitcoin, your actions are far more important than statement from Billy or Marcky! Wink
1882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook & Google creating its own Cryptocurrency! on: January 10, 2018, 01:59:57 PM
I don't know... Personnally, if Microsoft or facebook release ther own crypto, I won't buy it. Just because bitcoin has been designed in order to allow to anyone to get rid of large banking institutons currently controlling prices... So what would be the point of buying crypto designed as a product?

Buying Fb cryoto would mean buying marketing, ad, and so on... This is not the point!

I hope that if they release a crypto it will change nothing... Just because it should be ignored. But, I understand that the power of the "brand" may be blinding...

Let's wait and see Wink
1883  Economy / Economics / Re: Which crypto-currency do you prefer? on: January 10, 2018, 01:49:36 PM
Sorry to say that but...

For me, bitcoin remains the best. I understand what you want to do, which is divesting in order to curb risks.. Ethereum can be a good bet!

If you are looking for a small, unknown, crypto that may rise, allowing you to win large... Well sorry to say that nobody can tell you that! Wink
1884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin Down? on: January 10, 2018, 01:42:02 PM
The price is down then up and so on...

There are moves and as the bitcoin is volatile, it is almost impossible to make accurate forecasts. However, some big trends are well-known: there are rising trends by the end of the year, that get compensated as the new year begin. Here is what is currently happening.

Nothing to worry about! Wink
1885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in Bitcoin? on: January 10, 2018, 01:25:48 PM
Hi,

It depends on what you want to do with it..

Do you want to invest for short-term profits? Then gambling can be quite interesting too..

Do you want to invest to develop your own business? Then the first thing to do is gather a community around that may be more helpful than the money they bring

Do you want to invest because "people say it is amazing"? Then get some information and try to understand the idea behind the currency...

See, the answer may vary depending on your goal... Should you invest? I would say absolutely yes but the amount and way of investing depends largely on your objective.
1886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How far can Bitcoin go? on: January 10, 2018, 01:18:49 PM
The price can rise forever. There is not technical limit or anything in the code that prevents bitcoin from doubling, tripling, ... its value.

BUT it won't. It is the same idea as traditionnal fiat currencies. At the beginning, the value of a currency was defined according to the amount of gold the corresponding country/entity had. This has changed as gold was not exaclty very convenient to convey...

Today, the value of fiat currencies are... Quite made up in fact. But it is convenient to have exchange rates, so government, people and so on, prefer ignoring that such value relies on nothing. In the same idea, the value of bitcoin can change, the fact that it is highly volatile is well-known.

Why then putting a limit?
1887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Business pressing Bitcoin? on: January 10, 2018, 01:05:33 PM
Yeah, everyone is acting against bitcoin...  Grin

I think you should not worry that much! Indeed, I guess that some institutions (such as large corporate banks for example) do not see the rise of bitcoin as a good news... But, for the moment I think they don't care that much.

So, indeed, deleting such payment method from Microsoft or Visa offer can be part of a banking strategy in order to limit the influence of bitcoin and growth of the corresponding community.

But regarding traffic, rates? Definitely, not a strategy. Just the effects of what bitcoin is currently for many people: a mere tradng tool.

For the moment, banks don't have to stop the bitcoin... Because actually bitcoin users themselves prevent it from becoming what it may become! Wink
1888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Zuckerberg is looking into cryptocurrency ::) ::) ::) on: January 10, 2018, 12:56:15 PM
Hi,

And?

Actually you know it is not important as a piece of news. There are many people around the world "looking into" crypto.. Zuckerberg has invented something... But it is rather a marketing tool than a new technology. Him talking about BTC just means that some "new" people may look into it because he talked about it.

But you know, he is just one guy. And as long as I know, you don't pay for FB. So you don't need BTC Wink
1889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ethereum be beat Bitcoin on: January 10, 2018, 12:41:58 PM
It is actually possible.

No one can tell you that for sure ETH will supplant BTC but.. it is indeed possible.

BTC has been created long ago and will remain as the "historical" crypto money. But truth is that currently there are many people facing huge issues regarding their use of bitcoin. Transfers can be slow, very expensive... So maybe the solution is to switch to another crypto.

Yet, I don't think so. Because what we lack for the moment, are the technical means. So let's invest in the necessary technology and physical support instead of switching to any other crypto. ETH will face the same issues if people choose it instead of BTC...
1890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft Removes Bitcoin on: January 10, 2018, 12:32:39 PM
Hi,

I guess there are several reasons for that.

First of all, maybe their banks has refused to take this form of payment in charge. For technical reasons for example.

Then,  I guess that the rate of change in price is way too high. Remember the story of bitcoin and the sandwich? It is still true nowadays...

Last, I think that this new form of payment was rather here to make people talk about it than to last as paymenr method. There were not ready but wanted all to think they were up-to-date with the "latest" technology.

Just another "announcement effect"...
1891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin used by criminals ? on: January 05, 2018, 03:18:34 PM
Indeed, bitcoin can be used by "bad guys" as you say it..

In fact, the principle of development of the crypto-currency itself make it really suitable for illegal transactions...

And then? Dollars, euros, yens and so on are also used by criminal organizations. Does it make such currencies unacceptable? I don't think so! A tool, generally speaking is completely neutral in itself. It is up to the users to use it for "good" or "bad" purpose! Wink
1892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: should i buy ripple? on: January 05, 2018, 02:54:18 PM
Hi,

This all depends on the purpose of your investment! Ripple is realtively new and seems quite promising but no one can grant you anything about, just like with other crypto-currencies!

Do you want to invest for trading and short-term profit or do you want to bet on the opportunities presented by a crypto-money?

Good luck making the good decision, no one can tell what the future hold! Wink
1893  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holding will be a risk or not?? on: January 05, 2018, 02:44:34 PM
Hi,

What do you expect exactly as an answer? If you are not planning to sell in the near future then, of course, you should hold your btc! Risks are quite low... As selling now would mean losing money, then just wait until you are ensured to make a profit!

And, as you say, it was possible to expect such downward moves after the ups of the end of 2017... So let's wait until it rises again! Wink
1894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: USA To tax Exchanges? on: January 04, 2018, 04:40:59 PM
How does it work?

Do you have any article explaining this?

I mean, if the government is taxing operation occurring on traditionnal bank account.. Well it changes nothing. If their will is to tax online operations... I guess that more people are going to invest in VPN. Still, no big deal.

Then, there is the option of tracking operations. If this is the idea, I am curious to know more about how they can do it! Wink
1895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is BTC doing? on: January 04, 2018, 04:32:36 PM
Hi,

Actually, part of the community is freaking out for... nothing. Bitcoin has chaotic moves, so what has happened since november, is just a "normal chaos".

There are ups and downs, no one can forecast what will actually happen. What is true, though, is that with time, more and more people join the community.

Maybe, this will be enough to trigger off a societal change. Maybe not. Who knows? Wink
1896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When the transaction fee problem will be solved? on: January 04, 2018, 04:24:01 PM
Hi,

The main issue actually is that the system is lacking technical support. I mean, there are many transactions being issued at each second, but the system can only take a fixed number per period.

In order to artificially "solve" this problem, websites allow users to chose their transaction fee: the idea is that the most you pay, the quicker the transaction will happen.

So, actually, the only way to solve the issue, is to enhance the technical system to allow for more transactions simultaneously. :-/
1897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto is real? on: January 04, 2018, 04:15:05 PM
Hi,

Actually, no one can tell. The link you share is merely a thread... No one can tell if this has been started by the "real" Satoshi or just someone willing to start some big talks!

Satoshi is a pseudonym that had turned famous when he shared an article about the theoretical principles and development of the bitcoin. But no one knows much more than that. Is this really that important? Does it change anything for you?

Not for me. What matters is the bresult: the bitcoin and the hope it represents. Not people behind it! Wink
1898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future is crypto currency on: January 04, 2018, 04:04:55 PM
Hi,

Most people... Still don't know about bitcoin actually. Well, they only have the vision that is shared by mass media, that is to say, completely different from what it really is.

Then, indeed, awareness is raising. And I really hope that one day, it will be possible to use crypto-currencies on a daily basis. However, for the moment it is far from being true. Cheesy
1899  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 04, 2018, 01:43:28 PM
Were all traders here though.

I'm not sure you can even consider this market "trading", more like attempting to analyze which way the scam is going:

Yup. You've got an everage fluctuation of btc around the double digit. And that's just the bitcoin, most alts can get a +/- 30% in a matter of hours.
Anyone saying they trade on a market like that is just fooling themselves.
Which doesn't mean they can't make profit of course, but just that they aren't really in control.
1900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NO ETH AND NO BTC WHAT'S YOUR CHOICE? on: January 03, 2018, 06:51:58 PM
Hi,

First, mind your capital letters, please. Wink

Then, ETH and BTC can indeed considered as ambassadors, just because they are well-known, even further than just in the community. However, all the crypto-currencies do not exist for the purpose of becoming widely used. Some, were only created as trading tools, others as betting tools...

So actually, your choice depends on what is your goal!
