1901  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: https://www.cex.io/ anybody used? on: October 29, 2013, 06:18:21 PM
I'm using it - I've got 3.75GH bought, and another 3GH from referrals which are mining on ghash.io pool.  I'm also mining with my hardware to the same pool, so in total I've got about 35GH.  The pool seems pretty stable.

If their charges start going up, I'll be leaving and going back to Eligius.
1902  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC Miner Blades on: October 29, 2013, 06:15:54 PM
Stupid blades don't have DHCP far as I can tell. If your subnet isn't 192.168.1.x you probably won't be able to connect. I had to change from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.1.x.

They don't.  My post above explains how to set them up.

With Windows you can add an additional IP address, so you can have both a 192.168.1.x address as well as whatever your router gives out (like 192.168.5.x).

Thinking I might just sell mine, with difficulty as it is, I'm not sure it's even worth plugging them in...
let me know if you go that way - how many do you have coming to you?
Thanks

You need to set them up inidividually.  If you plug them all in at the same time before setting them up, they have an IP address conflict.

Short version of doing it is:

1. Find out your computer's IP address - usually 192.168.x.something - it'll likely be DHCP from your router.
2. Change your IP to 192.168.1.10
3. Plug in your first Blade to your switch
4. Browse to 192.168.1.254:8000 and you should see the pink management page
5. Change the IP address to something sensible (say 192.168.x.200), fill in your pool details, then hit the Save/Restart button.  You now won't be able to access the Blade until you perform Step 7 later.
6. Do steps 3 to 5 for each Blade
7. Change your computers IP address back to what it was before

Obviously, if your router's IP addresses are 192.168.10.something them use that in your Blades.

If you're pointing the Blades to a stratum proxy, or using BFGMiner's proxy, then you need to point the Blades to the IP of your PC.  I tend to leave my Blades pointing to BFG as the primary server, and backup server is a pool with a getwork interface (I use Eligius).
1905  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: WHICH pool is USA POOL and which is EUROPE POOL on: October 29, 2013, 08:11:13 AM
To be fair most pools have servers in EU and US.  If that's even what Gibberish in the first post was asking...

Besides, geographical location can have little to no effect on ping rates, latency or whatever.  It's not 2002 any more, there's lots of bandwidth between Europe and the US now.

Alright...alright...I'm getting over it...relax.  Just excited about it and wanted to share it.  It's so smart!  Wondering why don't all the companies do it.

Get over it quicker, please.

27A at 5V?  Good luck finding a PSU to run that...  Tongue

No USB miner will break even let alone earn you a BTC over its lifetime.  Don't waste your time and money on novelties.

Pretty much this.

I've got 11 Block Erupters and 2 BlueFurys on their way.  None will make back their price.  The ASICMiner Blades are just about going to ROI.

Perfectly possible.

I used to run a 5870, 6970, 7850 and 7950 all in one machine.
1910  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to become an authorised reseller for ASICMiner Erupters? on: October 28, 2013, 09:40:37 PM
Howdy all!

I am wondering how can I become an authorised reseller for block erupters.

OutCask3k does a very good job, and I don't think we need anyone else.  He's a trusted seller with excellent service.

Honestly, I think you'd be wasting your time, because most people will continue to deal with OC3k.
1911  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BFGMiner 3.3.0 Win 7, can't get vid cards, Icarus too slow on: October 28, 2013, 09:37:01 PM
Something wrong with your USB drivers - you should be able to run all those together no problems.

Well you payed threw paypal, you should follow the instructions in this post to get a refund and forget about the bfl nightmare...

Refunds through Paypal haven't worked in weeks.  Believe me, I tried.  Paypal are having none of it.
1913  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: WHICH pool is USA POOL and which is EUROPE POOL on: October 28, 2013, 09:31:47 PM

Please check and make sure the pool you're connecting to isn't causing the problem.
What problem?  I don't have a problem.  Huh

If you're in the US and connecting to an EU pool, the latency will cause you to lose some hashrate. Same if you're in the EU and connecting to a US pool.

too large a fuse and there is no sense in having a fuse. Fuses are protection against bad things happening. Tongue

Being conservative 49 BE's will pull around 27 Amps so I doubt a 10 Amp auto fuse will hold.  Plus modern P/S's have over current protection as well.  I guess I'll wait for Eleuthria to chime in before loading the thing full.

27A at 5V.  10A fuse at 12V power supply might just about run it OK, assuming near 100% power conversion efficiency.   15A on the 12V would certainly work.
1915  Other / Off-topic / Re: My cousin's house burned. Donation for her in bitcoins accepted. on: October 28, 2013, 03:00:19 PM
Insurance also covers personal items. If she has proper insurance everything will be paid for. No need for donations.

Heh, you've obviously never tried to claim off insurance, have you?

1917  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How can I overclock the new blade ? on: October 28, 2013, 01:15:38 PM
I know it is not easy. But with the high diff I want to try. I can solder, change the resistor but which one ? Thanks.

When you say new blade please be more specific in term of brand and model..

I'm guessing it's probably the ASICMiner Blade V2, which isn't overclockable by default like the old V1.  The V2 needs electronic components changed to allow overclocking, where the old Blade just needed some voltage tweaking and a button on the management page pushed.
