1961  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do I have cheap coins? on: October 15, 2014, 07:07:04 AM
I bought 10btc at 470 dollars , are those 'dem cheap coinz' ?
Will I be a millionaire one day?
Kind regards.

You will never have 1 million bitcoins, unless you are really rich guy.

He is asking will he be a millionaire in USD not in Bitcoins  Wink

If that is the goal of using Bitcoin, then you will be poor your whole life.

"How do I use this BitTorrent thing to transfer my Amazon movies I paid for from one computer to another?"

"When this automobile thing takes off will we be able to travel further to buy better horses?"

"If these aeroplane things work, we can use it to oversea the train track construction from above."

As long as products aren't all priced in BTC your analogies are fun but useless.

- When BitTorrent started you couldn't find all movies there so you had to buy movies at Amazon.
- When Henry Ford made the automobile the roads were crap and the mileage too so you could go farther with a horse.
- When the Wright brothers took off they could fly for seconds. Let alone intercontinental flight. We still don't fly every day.

Looking at more recent inventions like the electric car. It's a great invention and the technology and infrastructure is now available making it usable.

As long as the infrastructure isn't big enough, Bitcoin will not be the major payment system.
Don't take me wrong we will get there but it will take quite a long time Smiley.
1962  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will you do when BTC is 1M each on: October 15, 2014, 06:54:43 AM
Buy a $1,000 latte at Starbucks with bitcoins.

Every bubble has hit an unimaginable ATH so $1000 is a good point to start the poll Tongue

You guys do realize that mining is coupled with the price, right?

Difficulty always lags behind the price.
Mining profitability always trends towards barely profitable.

Just a rough estimate, if the current network was made up of all S3's, it would be valued at about $100million. I would consider us currently in the tad too profitable range. We should be at around $300 or even less. Since price is up, you can expect the difficulty to continue gradually rising. But it can't rise instantly overnight. Miners have to be built, bought, shipped, setup, and turned on. Let's say our current difficulty supports the current price of $400. If we saw an increase to $800, expect another $100mil in mining equip to be added. If price stays up and no new equipment is added, expect miners to start selling everything they make since mining would be too profitable. It's a rubber band effect that always leads to mining being barely profitable. There are too many variables to really go over them all. If price goes up, just remember we need a network to support it.

True

Miners mostly sell directly to the market. If the price bubbles it means more people will attempt to make a profit through mining.
Miners will get pissed because they can't mine fast enough to feed the market. Cloudminers will be understocked.
The market will shoot up since nobody can supply the coins, only those willing to sell.
Price will go to an ATH before people realize the price is insane. Then we go back into a bear phase to blow off.

Price therefore can go to 5 digits if it wants too.
1965  Economy / Speculation / Re: buying bitcoins is like buying shares in a new startup on: October 14, 2014, 07:27:50 AM
Yeah, only the shares are of a somalian company who will use the first half to bribe some local goverment officials and the second half to buy a small boat to go pirate some oil tankers that are headed your way. They then get shelled by a french navy ship and you never see any of your investments back. Wink

LOL love this post Cheesy

It feels like a long pregnancy that takes some birth pains to deliver. Wink  I know, that is an analogy men can't fully understand.

I've seen an elephant give birth after a two-year-long pregnancy and it looked easy Smiley Much easier than it is for you female humans. Now I've lost the analogy completely thinking about baby elephant in a birth goo...

BearWhale probably cashed out to live his/her/its life of luxury  Smiley

Maybe falllling was BearWhale and cut his loose before the final capitulation Cheesy
1968  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 14, 2014, 06:56:47 AM
12hr head & shoulders completed on heavy volume. Trend reversal confirmed. Time to go long. Major resistance at $440-$450.

Major resistence is at $420. Don't look to the past. Look at the here and now( order book)!

1. order book can change instantly, not a reliable indicator
2. the past indicates support/resistance levels and their respective volumes, or how many players traded and will remember that particular price. support becomes resistance and vice-versa.

Hope we break $666 soon. Religion can be a bitch!!
1969  Economy / Speculation / Re: We will break 400 for good within the next 8 hours on: October 14, 2014, 06:53:27 AM
Bitcoin looking good hopefully we get over 400 and stay above it. Grin now we just need litecoin to wake up.

Currently shorting on LTC/BTC so LTC may wake up a little late like usual Wink
The faster Bitcoin rises the better  Cool
1970  Economy / Speculation / Re: Breaking 400 in the next 48 hours is a possibility! on: October 13, 2014, 10:05:25 PM
We will hit $400 soon. OP wasn't that wrong. Too bad you just missed.
1971  Economy / Speculation / Re: BUY NOW! on: October 13, 2014, 08:26:34 PM
The only thing about Bitcoin though is that it is not 100% predictable unfortunately. Wink

More like, 0% predictable. I am still surprised after 4 years, with only two options the price actually has (up or down) how many unexpected combinations bitcoin comes up with Smiley

Since now all rallies are analyzed and we know how long they last and approximately how high they go, I am quite sure that next rally bitcoin is going to pull a stunt to leave everyone scratching their heads.

PS everyone go and watch Rise and Rise of Bitcoin, for some nostalgia about how earlier rallies unfolded and some key people of the bitcoin world, including a smug silly monkey Karpeles. Like, now, really great movie.

I hope that doesn't mean... have no rally, or a tiny rally that doesn't fit the nature of the previous rallys

Or a super huge rally or a slow non-accelerating growth for several months or a small rally followed by a dip to 200 and a huge rally. We'll know when it's over Smiley

I think some people honestly believe the days of Bitcoin rallies are over.  I seem to remember reading things like that before the rally last November as well though.  I think the odds of having another one are far greater than not having one though.

Every bitcoin rally happens when bitcoin price needs to grow by an order of magnitude. So theoretically next one should be to five digits or thereabouts, that's why preparation is taking so long Smiley

5 digits .... W000t!!!!  Cool

As long as Bitcoin has potential it will rally. Hopefully ATH will be 5k ;-)

Bitcoin usually reaches ATH after a 30 day moon-phase.
Unless we start to moon now I don't see an ATH this year.
Probably Q1 2015 will be the ATH but then again It's my gut feeling.

1977  Economy / Speculation / Re: The financial markets are starting to crash, abandon the fiat titanic on: October 13, 2014, 07:43:07 AM

The beloved dollar, on the other hand, has gone from a monetary base of around $850 billion to $2800 billion in the space of 5 years. Thats more than a 300% expansion of the monetary base. If you don't think that is a recipe for some major economic upheaval in its own right then you don't understand money.

Your chart is old. It's gotten much worse..

Doesn't look too bad Tongue  Cheesy

HEY WAIT THIS IS WHEN BUSH BECAME PRESIDENT !!!!
1978  Economy / Speculation / Re: Urgent Update: Bottom is in. Time to Buy! on: October 12, 2014, 10:59:20 PM
We're in the depression phase going up to hope.
Some of us are already getting to relief Smiley
1979  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nice bounce on: October 12, 2014, 10:56:50 PM
So how low the price can go, what do you think ?

Everybody is saying they will buy at $200.  Grin

Look at the trend. Only chance at $200 is either

- Bull trap (short and steep)
- Whalefault (Whale making a typo, got to have your order in)

Other than that, the days of $2xx are ending.
