1961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hold ETH or Exchange with LTC on: May 29, 2019, 09:44:57 AM
I'm holding BTC and ETH for couple of months. I already have gotten great profit from ETH, should I hold more? Or I shouls have moved to LTC which also looks like a good investment for now. Please share your opinion, why or why not?

Instead of converting your Eth to LTC, why not just add more funds for LTC? I can sense that Eth is going to move forward higher soon especially once the big bull run of Bitcoin will happen. This is the time to hoard Bitcoin, Eth and some more top altcoins. LTC too has a good potential for more growth soon.
1962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] Church of Holy Ether - Roleplay is welcome on: May 29, 2019, 09:24:47 AM
Welcome Brothers and Sisters in Faith. Time has come to join our forces in combatting all the evil of this wicked cryptocurrency world and direct our efforts at strengthening of the Holy Ether. Every member counts. Let us join, pray and demonstrate the true devotion to our salvation in the Holy Kingdom of Heaven!

I just joined the Church of Holy Ether and I am hoping to be officially baptized soon by the high priest of the religious order. I am looking forward for a nice experience with this group and hopefully I can learn something there or maybe just be entertained...that would be enough for me! Thanks @Nikita for entertaining me.
1963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LiveStars Bankrupt / Exit Scam (?) on: May 29, 2019, 09:08:35 AM

Sad to see another ICO project biting the dust. I am not very familiar with the LiveStars project because I never supported the ICO period of this as I was not then convinced of the viability of it. There had been similar projects but not one of them made big inroads into the market...as to the reasons why maybe because they are not really ready to compete in a highly competitive market and just because one project is using the blockchain technology is no guarantee of success. In other words, the project must have set up for the purpose of attracting money nothing more nothing less.

This is an update from their Twitter account: "Even though we succeeded in releasing a fully functional, stable product, we have no more funds for marketing campaign for the platform nor we have funds for new exchange listing which is required now that cryptopia announced their bankrupcy."

1964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: STO vs ICO - security on: May 29, 2019, 08:46:19 AM
Hi,

I've compared a few ICOs and STOs.

In my opinion, they are nothing different when it comes to security.

What do you think?

I would disagree a little. That is if we are talking here of real and vetted STOs and not the fake ones because anybody can just claim that his/her project is STO but in fact is just another ICO. When we talk of STO, we are talking here of a project which is legally recognized and under the regulations and laws of the land. Now, of course, there is no guarantee here that the project can succeed. But what are the main advantages here? One, the people behind the STO are all real and has legal personalities which means cases can easily be filed against them if ever they run with the money they generated with the crowdfunding -- with the ICO platform running after fake names can be so difficult. STO should be registered within the country it is headquartered...something that ICO may not do. STO is putting more responsibility on the hands of the projects' proponents and making things more transparent.
1965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook shitty coin. Facebook selling information of their customers on: May 29, 2019, 08:33:42 AM
I think we will feel positive changes in the privacy policy, if they do not just create their cryptocurrency but also try to use blockchain technology to improve data security.
To transfer such an old and huge social network like facebook to the blockchain will be very difficult. I do not think that they will decide to radically change their policies and produce innovations. But perhaps this will be easier to create on their mobile application. It will be interesting to observe the development of this story.

No, I don't think there is the proposal actually of transferring Facebook to the blockchain. Facebook's GlobalCoin is technically a standalone project. I am sure this cryptocurrency will be utilized within the platforms under the control of Facebook but beyond that fact we still do not know how this project will finally be that's why I prefer to wait before making any conclusion. I am sure that Facebook or the team behind this project will be addressing the many concerns we have especially on this forum at the right time and forum. On the brighter side, what we are witnessing is actually the recognition of the technology behind cryptocurrency and I am sure that there will be more big names who will join this bandwagon.
1966  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Here It Is - Bitcoin Trading Guide You Guys Asked For on: May 29, 2019, 08:07:25 AM

I just read your published guide. Honestly speaking, I am not a good trader and I still have a hard time understanding many technical terms related to this enterprise especially with cryptocurrency. And I think I am not alone that is why there are more 'hodlers' in this space than traders. However, I am not starting to educate myself with the ins and outs of this business because I know that more money can be made with trading compared to just hiding one's digital assets. Thanks for this easy-to-understand material.
1967  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for scammers, yea right! on: May 29, 2019, 07:40:47 AM
Quote
So, next time when someone tells you that Crypto currencies are used for scams, please highlight the fact that most scams are still being done under the nose of the regulated financial industry.  Wink
The number of scam happening in real-life which is not crypto related is still tremendous. As mentioned by OP, boiler scammers, ponzi scheme investment, and a lot more.

We can't deny the fact that people who are saying that btc is just some kind of scam is actually those who don't want to take a risk and easily believing in some fake fuds. Scams and Fraudsters are everywhere so why do they need to emphasize that bitcoin is just a ponzi scheme where in fact they never know about blockchain technology.

On the other hand, there is actually ponzi scheme happening in real life related to bitcoin. Some of them are using bitcoin to get some money with pyramid scheme.
Here are some of it:
-Xian Gaza expose btc pyramid scam
-another pyramid scheme

Just like the fiat money, scammers -- big and small, unknown and famous -- are using bitcoin as the "money" in their transactions. The problem is that since bitcoin is relatively new when a scam can broke out and there is the mention of bitcoin people who are still uneducated on bitcoin can easily conclude that the scam is "bitcoin scam" a term which is unfortunate and false. Anyway, as many marketing strategists would tell us even bad publicity is still a publicity. This is the reason why if there is an opportunity to explain to people around us the truth then we should take some time to explain to them why there is no such thing as bitcoin scam.

1968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Which Bitcoin Is Not? on: May 29, 2019, 07:29:42 AM
As Bitcoin is once again at the $8,000+ level, there is a raging excitement and a big buzz in the marketplace on the King of Crypto. People are asking if this can be the start of the big bull run -- the big one to push Bitcoin beyond the $20,000 zone almost achieved in 2017.

With all the hypes and speculations surrounding Bitcoin, here are some bitcoin FACTS and why bitcoin enthusiast like myself love it, trust it, and just could not wait of what can be...

1. Bitcoin is money
2. Bitcoin is an asset
3. Bitcoin is a commodity
4. Bitcoin is a utility
5. Bitcoin is more valuable than gold and USD.
6. Bitcoin is the cheapest way to transfer money
7. Bitcoin is on it's way to being the world currency
8. Bitcoin provides solutions for people worldwide without bank accounts, who can't get bank accounts, or don't have access to banks in their region.
9. Bitcoin can be traded.
10. Bitcoin has IRA's, Futures, Mutual Funds, Credit, Loans
11. Bitcoin has a limited supply of only 21 million giving it serious value whereas 17,674,400 has already been mined.
12. Bitcoin has to be mined, the source of all bitcoin, and will go on for the next 120 years to 2140.
13. Bitcoin is the FIRST and leader of all the 2116 cryptocurrencies on the market as of 4/30/19 dominating at 54.6% of the market cap of $172.6 billion!
14. Bitcoin is accepted worldwide at hundreds of thousands of retailers to pay for goods and services from coffee and pizza to paying taxes, luxury vacations, cars, homes, boats, and more!
15. Bitcoin is predicted to be worth $100,000 per coin within the next 3 years and $250,000 within the next 5 years.

Now, among this list, which do you think is not true or will not come true?

1969  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will hit $1M on 2020 - John McAfee on: May 29, 2019, 05:52:44 AM
I respect this man for a good antivirus, but his constant speculation about the price of bitcoin does not inspire confidence, tired of hearing from him new predictions.

We in the bitcoin community do welcome people who are very positive about the growth prospect of the coin and we have many respected people already in our midst. Now, in the case of John McAfee, I think that he is becoming too much. He is too much that digesting his views, opinions, predictions and ideas is getting harder for our stomach to tackle. Though, of course, I would not have any problem if his latest prediction can come true...who knows that Crypto Time Traveler can be telling us that truth, right? I am then wondering, is he not that time traveler he is talking about?
1970  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternatives to erc20 tokens with a transaction cost on: May 29, 2019, 05:40:16 AM
Is there any alternatives to erc20 tokens?
That have a very low or no transaction cost on another blockchain? We are thinking mainly for the use case of tokenizing services.
Waves has also a platform but it's not very famous. I don't know exactly, but Stellar is also supporting a similar use case. Finally, I would decide for ETH as platform for tokenizing services. It's far best one, working well and offering an interface easy to use.

So far, nothing can beat the Ethereum platform for this purpose and that is why many projects are using it and more can be coming as days goes on. There are, of course, competitors like TRON which is also attracting new players into its platform. Wave is another alternative though admittedly it is not gaining much traction on the marketplace. There can be shifting dynamics here though it is still Ethereum that is leading the way and it can take time for its main competitors to catch up.
1971  Other / Off-topic / AI & Blockchain: Together Much Better on: May 29, 2019, 05:16:31 AM

Two of the biggest innovations of this generation is the coming in of the blockchain technology and artificial intelligence. AI has been the fodder of the mainstream media for the past many months as there seems to be a big fascination of the potential things it can contribute to mankind. Blockchain is the underlying technology for the bitcoin network and is defined as the  "system in which a record of transactions made in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency are maintained across several computers that are linked in a peer-to-peer network."

Now, when we combined these two big trends, a new vista of opportunities and higher innovations are opened bringing along many changes to different industries, organizations and people. I am seeing that soon we shall experience many good benefits from these two emerging technologies.

"Clearly, blockchain and AI are two technological trends which, while ground-breaking in their own rights, have the potential to become even more revolutionary when put together. Both serve to enhance the capabilities of the other, while also offering opportunities for better oversight and accountability."

1972  Other / Off-topic / Re: How can we incentivize the spread of IoT? on: May 29, 2019, 05:04:40 AM
How can we incentivize the spread of IoT? I feel like it's a critical technology if blockchain ever wants to be truly anchored into the real world.
Are VR & AR games the best way? We've already got cell phones & cars, but that's not enough. What other kinds of devices can we even have out there? Upgrading things street lights, sure. CCTV cameras, yikes. But what else? maybe we don't need it everywhere, but it will be good to have IoT dense areas somewhere.

We already live in interconnected world but with the coming of Internet of Things we realized that we need to extend this connectivity to many things we are using everyday and even extend to animals and we the people. Per definition, "The internet of things, or IoT, is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers ( UIDs ) and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction."

Coupled with the rise of Artificial Intelligence, IoT is adding a new vista to explore and more excitement to our modern world. I am imagining a house where all the appliances, devices and even parts are all connected to each other as if an organism that one can program and command. Isn't that super amazing with so many potentialities?
1973  Other / Off-topic / Re: Moments in life on: May 29, 2019, 04:52:36 AM

The best thing that ever happened to my life, I guess, is the day I was born (many years ago since I am now old) because that was the beginning of everything for me. Of course, there are also many other good things that transpired later. Now, the worst thing is when I was scammed in 2017 due to phishing of my MEW wallet...that was the baptism of fire for me on the dark side of cryptocurrency.
1974  Other / Off-topic / Re: A GIFT FOR MY PARENTS on: May 29, 2019, 04:36:39 AM
I know the intention is good, but don't ever give bitcoin to anyone who doesn't understand it.  The chances of it never being touched are high.   My advice is, you hold the .3 for them, being someone who understands this technology and in the future when bitcoin and cryptos are more widely accepted you can show them then, how to spend it.   No need to lead them into an investment mentality with this, investments are not spendable, bitcoin is.

I am recommending this same idea as this can more practical as we know that older people can have a hard time understanding cryptocurrency (though there are exemptions, of course). The same thing goes to parents who desire to gift their young ones with bitcoin...it would be better if they themselves are the ones holding the coin so it is safe and secured. The idea of gifting our loved ones with bitcoin or any crypto for that matter is something I do appreciate.
1975  Other / Off-topic / Re: Finding a co-founder on: May 29, 2019, 04:24:47 AM
So I'm not sure if this is the right category this goes in, but anyways...long story short, I guess from your end perspective you could say I'm just another guy with some mediocre idea trying to start a business. However, on an egotistical level i could say "but THIS idea is genius and something more." and i don't have a big ego by any means, yet i do truly feel it's got major potential. On an entrepreneurial level, with the right resourcing and proper tactics, there is a big enough market for this to generate massive income. What am I even talking about? Lets just say a very unique and innovative p2p lending platform. Yes i know it sounds unoriginal, but i say unique and innovative with extreme emphasis.
To be brief, i don't have the best credit, or resources to go through any technical loan processes. Im looking for anyone looking to possibly be a co-founder and get this thing taken off together. I can realize how saying that right after talking about an issue of finding may seem off, but that is what's been my main conflict. I need a partner that even ASIDE from figuring out the funding situation together, that can make this happen. Serious and dedicated to put our ideas together and promote, market, create, etc. I feel I've gone on for too long. So that's sort of the jest of it.

You have an idea of a P2P lending platform and you are looking for someone to be the source of money for the project? I hope I am correct in that assumption. Now, getting someone who has the money to partner with you may not be that easy because there must be that important TRUST factor and you can develop that easily...much more here in this forum. Now, I am suggesting that you make a feasibility studies of your project and learn to package your idea well. Who knows there can be a millionaire here willing to gamble with you...
1976  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merits for all Rank Members - Conditions Apply - 6 merits available. on: May 29, 2019, 04:13:07 AM
Hello everyone I'm giving few merits to all rank members, cause I feel everyone should have a shot at ranking up. Also I'm tired of reading good posts do not get rewarded, and every rank holder needs merits hence this is open for all.

I'll keep the conditions simple and short for all:

1) Post only ONE post link here you feel deserves a merit, do not pm me.

2) Do not put words like beg or I deserve, only thread link.

3) One merit per one account shall be given, and my decision shall be final.

4) Posts have to be in English, they should not be one liners and should not be in bounty section, it has to be an informative constructive post.

5) To all members who usually collect a lot of merits, kindly do not participate let others benefit from this and if possible see if you find any good post to merit or give them some tips to improve.

So start posting your link here, and whichever post is deserving I'll be happy to leave a merit for you'll after all sharing is caring.

I am interested of this offer. I would also love to receive a merit from you. In my case, I have been giving merits too...so here is my post which maybe worth of your time:

Thanks a lot for this opportunity. And may your tribe increase...
1977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When Do you realize a Crypto project is scam or Fraud? on: May 29, 2019, 03:43:30 AM
At a point the team start given excuses to abide by what they promised to do or stop communicating with the community then I can sense the project is scam. How do you determine a project is gone bad and won't fulfill it promise? What criteria do you use ? Or you wait for years thinking all will be well?

When accusations of frauds are starting to leak into forums and social media...that can mean to me that there can be something wrong. Now, a good project can still be accused of being fake but how the people behind it will respond can be telling us about its real intent. Usually, if there is smoke there is fire - may not be in all cases but most are. When a project is using fake profiles of its leaders then most likely it is a big scam. When the project is just plagiarizing content from other projects most likely the project is just another scam. In other words, when the project is not honest and is making so many shortcuts then mostly likely it will just fly with the money when the crowdfunding is over.
1978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel about Ripple? on: May 29, 2019, 03:26:04 AM
Underrated? Worth buying right now? Or do you feel its better to purchase more BTC/ETH? Just wanted to get some opinions from you guys.

I actually have some XRP but honestly compared to bitcoin I would choose the latter first. Now, for the sake of diversification, getting XRP is fine as it actually has a good potential to soon make its bullish move. Will XRP be back at $3 before end of 2019 or even in 2020? That remains to be seen so let's hope that more and more positive developments and partnerships (with the banking sector) will come out for this cryptocurrency (which label others are contesting).
1979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: Waves Pearl Tokens (WPT) : An Asset Backed-Up with Pearl's Quantity on: May 29, 2019, 03:14:52 AM
Let us see if this is not an attempt to scam naive people. Waiting for the official website and links. And proof that you have pearls in possession. Creating a waves asset is easy-peasy so I don't know how authentic this project is.  Huh

I know the existence of some fossilized pearls here in the Philippines and I got some neighbors who are looking for buyers of their pearls. This is an interesting project but we have to make sure that this is a real deal and not just another trick to lure people to invest and then left with empty bags (even if they can be eco-bags). I am then wondering what are the uses of these fossilized pearls...and are they really that valuable?

Here are some YouTube videos talking about these giant pearls:

1980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin Wall Observer: Releases & Discussions on: May 29, 2019, 03:04:02 AM
The recent wake-up of Ripple from the range of price around 48xx to 49xx satoshis to nearly 52xx satoshis is a very good example, and that can be applied for Dogecoin. Dogecoin, in fact, has been exchanged within a very narrow price range within the last one month. There are some reasons but the main one is its very low and cheap price last month. As I pointed out in the OP, the most interesting thing that I observed is daily volume of Dogecoin raised nearly double in average last month. It is probably the last step of momentum preparation for coming sudden growths of Dogecoin.

Dogecoin holders are hoping for the revival of this defiant coin and with the recent rise of volume you are pointing out it just might be happening soon. With bitcoin on the rise, there is no reason for our favorite coin not to join the bullish bandwagon. I am looking forward for its amazing dance within the month of June...
