Any one know who or where to have these broken pieces re-soldered??

its weird, but soon after I paid, bit-tech, who normally doesn't not PM, according to his statement, PM'd me in regards to purchasing some gridseed units, but something didn't sit well, so I asked for paypal, but never heard from him after that. I have since received an email that my unit had shipped to be followed up with tracking info. on thursday, this was last wednesday.

So I have sent an email to bit-tech in regards to refund but have not heard from him. This doesn't bode well.

Bit-tech, busy or not, you need to answer with our tracking info. or refund the money.

Glad i used OGNASTY.

Out of 36 boards only 6 looked usable and of those only 1 is actually working, 2 power up but show completely dead dies and the other 3 do nothing but look good.

That sounds extremely worrying.

That is like taking boards from the trash container and shipping to customers...

Were the heatsinks only stuck onto the board by the thermal paste?

Yup, except now they can claim all of the bad boards as damaged in shipment and get reimbursed by the shipping co./insurance, All the while mining on the equipment they should have sent.

Brilliant.

Bullshit, that would never fly. No insurance / shipping company is going to cover stupidity. KNC will have to eat 100% of this loss.
bad thing is KNC loses nothing.....knc customers paid for the unit and the shipping.....and most units have probably been mined with so they probably paid for themselves 5x over, then they send us the bunk ones to kill time while the good ones are hashing away...then we they are ready they will ship out our BROKENJUP replacements. Weak KNC. WEAK!

bryant, EL Chino just has Mayweather in his thoughts right now, this was something cooked up by others actually, come to find out.
Anyway, you're right, it is for charity.

OK... so El Chino doesn't have anything to do with Bitcoins actually. I was a little bit excited at first, and thought that he had actually endorsed Bitcoin. Anyway... best wishes for his fight against Floyd.
I am told they briefly explained it to him and about the charity, which he liked, but other than that, no is not a bitcoiner or bitcoinite. I hope he wins though, had enough of Mayweather.

Ugh, so I have to waste more time taking everything apart and reassembling them? I suppose I have to drill out rivets and/or break off the plastic feet on the case.

And notice, there was no statement on if they are sending heatsinks that can be bolted down. So we'll still have these poorly designed, fragile piles of crap. But oh joy, there will be a bunch of extra boards that we can't do anything with.
NO need to drill....just turn unit upside down.....(mine rattle extremely when doing so Cheesy) then pull of the legs, then with your finger nail dig in around the head of the plastic button/rivet (whatever) and pull it out or use any object thin enough to get under the plastic head and lift, they come out rather easily. then just gently pry under the chip board and lift up off heat sink( hahaha, if it is still in place) ok.

Out of 36 boards only 6 looked usable and of those only 1 is actually working, 2 power up but show completely dead dies and the other 3 do nothing but look good.

I am wondering if this wasn't all subterfuge from the get go....buy time = more money??

edit:

it just seemed to easy.......OOPS, every gets new machines now in a few weeks etc etc etc

wow ok my unit is in the country (nz) after traveling the most distance there is no hope for my unit to be working
well if you hear any, and I mean any rattle, which you most likely will, it will be the DEATH rattle. sorry.

I just really hope all the delusional people on here that are KNC fanboys remember this and cancel their Titan order(s).

Except you can't cancel a Titan

How could anyone rely on this company to design and make a good product anymore? I've heard it had rivets on this thing? Why would a mining rig that you NEED to access the internal components (like the fans) be riveted shut so you can't open it? You have to be able to access these components. Were these things really riveted shut so people can't open them? If you have a Neptune on order, now would be a really good time to get your money back. You just may receive a box of broken parts. Also, Phoenix told us he got all his units refunded but now has like three on order? Dude, are you a compulsive lire and just can't help it?

Yes indeed they case is riveted, not a single screw to be found. It looks like you may be able to break the plastic feet off of the bottom of the case and pull the components out through the bottom. But I'm not willing to break my warranty to do so. Besides, I'm not sure how you would reassemble it again. And I'm NOT a handy person.

Where are all of the replies from other FrankenJup owners that have their units running? I feel so alone, lol.
I just finished doing a full visual inspection of 6TH/s worth of BROKENJUPS. I finally had time to sit there and really look at this disaster. Unfortunately that is all I can do at this time since there is no way I would power any of these units up. I found at least one resistor in the packaging of every single unit. I have some 25+ resistors that have been completely knocked off. I don't think I lost any since I tried to be very careful when removing each and every one out of the box and packaging hoping that at least a few units would be intact. Unfortunately this case design was very flawed. It might have worked had the heat sinks been bolted in place to the board itself. Since they were not, this allowed the bottom of the heat sink to easily slide off the chip and start beating everything else up.

So I can definitely see about 25 out of 36 boards that are damaged i.e. resistors missing. On some of these the heatsinks are literally on their side so this just does not bode well, I would be surprised if any of these worked at all.

Do you still think it was only 2 reports and I was just a KNC hater?
I was merely reporting the facts.

and now for a prediction... ... here comes the datahall offer for FrankenJupiter convertees...

*Someone's gonna be really pissed off at KNC when they realize what just happened, and why IMHO.

nope, just worried cause i received mine but didnt get it inspected before i mailed it again.  im trying to stop it now, before any more damage happens.  you said there were dozens of reports but didnt provide any proof and at that time i only found 2 reports.  it wasnt until i talked to my other buddy in florida, who had 5 unit sent and all five were fkd.
I imagine due to the Heat sink not being screwed down, but rather being held down by "pressure" from foam and the top of the case cover, that most if not all units will need to be opened, inspected and properly re-assembled if the boards are still viable.
Avenger mentioned that the boxes had no sign or arrow for "up" which then allowed for the boxes to be rotated as they moved along the shipping line, and this caused most if not all heat sinks to slip off the ASIC CHIP. I have some heat sinks that are about side ways laying across the boards, so pushing with a pen/pencil through the slots WILL NOT BE AN OPTION.

Whatever happens, I am not mining with these or powering them on until I get word from KNC. I unpacked each unit as carefully as possible to look for small pieces (resistors) and found at least 1 or 2 in the wrapping of every unit and way more in others where the heat sinks beat the shit out of the boards. Some boards I can visibly see they are fucked, but others I can not so I take no chances.

I have received an email that says basically 'hurry up and wait' we'll get to your problem order number 666666666 or something like that.
LOOL, i  laugh at you so HARD! .So you invested your dads money in to knc and expect to earn million $ by babysitting your miner? And now crying  HHHAAHHAA!Dude seriously get a real job!

alpha, glad you had your laugh....and only reason I worry about 'ole' POPS is because he is such a gripe when it comes to money.....money he has, this a cup in his bucket but he watches every drop so not 'Crying' as you so kindly put it just complaining. And alpha, I have a real job, actually several of them, and this is just a side gig at 3.5TH/s and waiting on 1TH/s this week and a few other goodies....so a big GIG it is nonetheless SO ALPHA, SHUT YOUR YAP!
HATER!!

At least this guy should have added the Bitcoin logo to the T-shirt. Anyway... the proceedings are going to the Bitcoin-based charity, so I am not complaining too much about it.
bryant, EL Chino just has Mayweather in his thoughts right now, this was something cooked up by others actually, come to find out.
Anyway, you're right, it is for charity.

Thanks for sharing.

It is cool and income for a charity - nice.

But how this is related with Bitcoin? Smiley I see Bitcoin logos above him, but anything else? Smiley

The listing states that all proceeds to be donated 100%, but they are to be CONVERTED to Bitcoin with 25% going to Bitcoin Argentina Org and 75% Bitcoins to the Children's home in Argentina. Not much else. I did see there is another similar auction but this one is 100% donated to same orphanage but in cash.

I am angry because I call and no answer, and the voice machine doesn't even identify that i am calling KNC!! Sad
It's past midnight in Sweden. Friday night. You probably won't get any response until Monday. Unless they decide to take the pen/pencils out of their arses and fix the mess their lack of testing / lousy goods have caused.
Yeah, I figured that much

Sorry to see all this guys.

Tear KNC a new one! They are a multi-million dollar company making massive profits and you are not, so they need to fix everything for everyone at THEIR expense. Don't take any of their "We cannot do blah blah" BS.
well according to KNC's now SUPER SILLY email, 'just take a pen/pencil and push back in place' this is coming from Swedish Engineers....no fucking way!!
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 25, 2014, 10:44:48 PM
My pile off crap arrived today. Luckily nothing loose fell out of any of the units but all of the heatsinks have slid around, some of them completely off the ASICs.

I managed to get 2 of the 6 boxes running so far but only 4 of the 6 ASICs are hashing at ~650GHs. The other two are dead although nothing appears obviously wrong. They don't even show in the admin.

Moving the heatsinks back onto the chips is pretty difficult. Nothing holds them in place except the lid of the case. And the case is riveted shut. Even more difficult is hooking the fans back up to the board. You need a long narrow pinching device and LOTS of patience.

And no, I'm not an abused KNC lover. Why do people feel the need to judge others on our decisions? I chose this option because it shipped fast and a refund was out of the question for me. I did have plenty of reservations about my decision but I never imagined it would be this blatantly awful.

Edit: at least they shipped fast! Lol.
xstr8guy, look for missing resistors in the bottom of the box, look carefully they are very very small. If the heatsinks/fans were to be held in place by compressed foam against the top of a flimsy aluminum case travelling half way around the world then IT DIDN'T WORK!! not on the OG jupiter and certainly not on these. And the bouncing of the heatsink is what knocks of the resistor and capacitor and whatever else gets damaged.

This is sad, and I thank all those for their empathy and condolences....I am better and life goes on.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 25, 2014, 08:07:50 PM
Lawsuit, dude. That's a pile of BS they sent you guys. Avenger pegged this one. I think he looked into Joe's crystal ball for a bit.

You didn't need my crystal ball to know the screwing was going to continue.

You guys who choose frankenjups or didn't refund are like abused women........."But I love KNC, they wouldn't hurt me again"

When you start a company you worry about the happiness of every customer,
When you are swimming in a tsunami of cash and your business is hugely successful, your tune changes to "What's a customer? Help me count this money"

Till months before his death Steve Jobs was STILL replying directly to customers emails, customers who he never lost touch with,
Sam Cole is no Steve Jobs.

KNC has no advantage over most any of their competitors except a little less power consumption (allegedly) so those who opted for frankenjups didn't care about power consumption and those that still hold on for the Neptunes are already underwater even if they deliver 4th

For $6k you can buy 3TH from Antminer and have it Monday, $8 for 4TH and you paid $10k? $12k and you will wait until 3rd quarter to get delivery?

At this juncture my crystal ball tells me that KNC is better off with EVERYONE refunding and they use the customer Neptunes in their data center and sell any Jupiter Modules that don't fit in the after/used market.

So says the Crystal Ball

joe, thanks for the SALT.

I figured all those loose fans from the jupiter shipping fiasco would have taught them something. I held on hoping that they would come close to their B/B+ performance with Neptune/Frankenjup as they did with the OG Jupiter....

boy was I wrong. Not a KNC fanboy/lover nor was I a hater but....but.....I will wait to see how they handle this before tirading some more (if that even is a word)

here is more pics of my pain

http://imgur.com/a/0NDQm#0
Is that bare ASICs with thermal paste on top? Where are the heat sinks?
bouncing around playing pinball with everything else...knocking off resistors and who knows what else???

not sure, but you can kinda see them in the background, if not in the other pics or the album pics.

Weren't the radiators supposed to be mounted with screws? Last time there were some problems with coolers falling off the radiators, but radiators falling off is simply retarded.
well if you look at pictures of their DEATHSTAR, i mean imean datorhall or whatever, you will see that these are probably the same boards they had their exposed and out of case on shelving, probably on stand offs, so no need to screw down the heat sinks...

SO WHY WOULD ANY ENGINEER THINK THAT YOU WOULD NEED TO SCREW THEM DOWN TO SHIP?Huh because he got paid millions and doesn;t give a shit anymore, thats why he wouldnt!
