21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there Casinos that offer Birthday Bonuses to their users? on: January 31, 2024, 09:25:15 PM
I received a lot of sportsbook offers on my birthday, which is equivalent to receiving free money. It's easy to convert sportsbook bonus bets into actual profits if you know hwat you are doing with matched betting.

These are fiat sportsbooks though, so the situation may be different for crypto based firms.

It's more unlikely that they offer these bonuses given the degree of multiaccounting that could go on. Same thing goes with first deposit bonuses, etc. Your account is simply worth more to a fiat casino/sportsbook than to a crypto one.
22  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer wins seem too good on: November 20, 2023, 11:08:56 AM
It's certainly an issue in streaming. I think that a lot of people are misled into thinking that winning is as easy as they depict it to be during these streams, but clearly it is not.

I've personally seen streamers flush down 5-6 figures down the drain without batting an eye, and honestly that is just ridiculous. If they are playing with their own money, then fine. But we all know what is happening with these people - they are getting loss back and even worse playing with casino funded money altogether. There have been plenty of videos on this matter on Youtube exposing the behind the scenes.

I know that this is a controversial topic, but I think that it's one that everyone needs to be aware of. Don't go out and blindly trust promoters with an agenda in anything, and that includes in online gambling.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I've learned so far as a gambler on: November 18, 2023, 10:29:08 PM
If you walk into a casino with $200 and you start playing with that $200 and you win $200, get the hell out, you simply just doubled your money, take your goddamn leave, what do you think you wanna do? Win a million dollars? You will go home empty handed.

The next thing that rings in your ear is you can still win another or more, that's the devil whipsering, the art of gambling is knowing when to stop.

The only game where you have some power is in Poker, not the online one, this is the best game in casinos, as making profits off of bad players is possible.

As for Other games, You are at the mercy of the house.

No one actually visits the casino to have fun, you gotta trick the mind, I like to think of it has a fun night out and I am going to spend a few hundred dollars and have a good time and if I win it's a bonus, like I've said, you gotta trick the mind.

Always remember this, you are there to win a game where its statistically impossible to win at, it's not impossible to not understand this about gambling, a wise man once said, "if you want to make money with gambling, own a casino".

There are definitely other places where you could make money in the long term.

For instance, sportsbetting. Lots of people have made a living just off betting on sports by having a better model and/or having an edge over the casino through the form of promotions. There's also profitable traders who look through arbitrage opportunities in an automated way (e.g., on an exchange like BetFair).

If you are playing these games that are clearly -ev then you shouldn't be expecting to profit from them. Go in with the mindset that you are going to get some entertainment out of it, but that is essentially all it is.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Western Conference Finals (Warriors vs Suns/Mavericks) on: May 15, 2022, 12:50:29 AM
I don't think that they will be the underdog regardless of which team they face.

They have way too much experience and CP3 is too old in my opinion to make noise. Booker is still relatively inexperienced compared to the Warrior trio that has been around for virtually a decade now.

Hard to bet against the Dubs honestly - their team chemistry is amazing.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Luna holders will get new token. on: May 14, 2022, 11:28:00 PM
This is absolutely insane.

I can't believe that people still believe Terra is a decentralised ecosystem. Look, all trust is gone now within the system and the remains are not pretty whatsoever. There seems to be absolute authority of Do Kwon to do whatever he wants (including arbitrarily dividing the 1 billion tokens), and no one dares to oppose.

Crazy times. What's crazier is that Luna tokens have pumped 33x since the all time lows, when they should be going to zero.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you thing about Terra team? on: May 13, 2022, 11:36:01 PM
In my opinion, the Terra Team is to blame for the entire bloodbath. They should have taken a more pragmatic and responsible approach. Things have only gotten worse for the holders.

I completely agree.

Do Kwon was clearly arrogant prior to the crash and that caused a lot of people to bet against them - probably accelerating the demise of the protocol.

But to be frank, I'm not sure why any investor really saw this as a sustainable investment.

Anyone with a basic economics background and did half-decent DD would understand that Anchor would eventually be depleted of its yield reserves, and if UST depegs slightly, then it would essentially send LUNA to zero (especially if LUNA's market cap is smaller than that of UST).
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will LUNA be recovered ever? on: May 13, 2022, 11:23:36 PM
LUNA went to ZERO, causing inflation. What is going to happen next? Is there any chance it will rise again in the near future?

I don't think so.

The Do Kwon proposal is absolutely nuts and essentially means that one person is once again controlling the chain in its entirety.

I disagree with the sentiment that LUNA community is valuable - it used to have a very engaged community but most of the self-professed "lunatics" have now turned against Do Kwon given the large losses.

Certainly not worth the risk entering into any positions right now in my opinion at any price.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: May 13, 2022, 10:49:43 PM
It's hard to imagine Dallas will be in the NBA Finals. Not saying it's not gonna happen, but people does not expect that.

That's the surprise this season. LOL.

Bookies does not also believe it will happen that's why the odds for Dallas to win the championship is very high.
As per - https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/basketball/usa/nba/nba-21-22-60f9572f41ddce1ac040cdfa.. Dallas is x21 to win the championship, Memphis is the biggest though with x51.

Honestly worth a bet.

Dallas blew out the Suns yesterday with a full squad and Luka seems to be on a mission. Not saying that they will win the championship but I think that in terms of expected value this is a great bet.

The Grizzlies are still too young to make noise in my opinion though, but again, the odds are very attractive.
29  Economy / Gambling / Re: Pasino.com Provably Fair Seeding Event for Fortune Wheel on: May 13, 2022, 10:32:05 PM
Apart from the technical issues that RHavar has pointed out, I think that:

a) It is not the best idea to use this as a player-facing marketing strategy as no one will understand the benefits and
b) It is a lot better for you to devote resources to an ANN thread given that you have so much more to offer on your site.

You should probably consider running more promos to get the ball rolling as well with players.
30  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐FoggyStar⭐ 100% Signup Bonus🏆||Start of the Star Way Contest🔥 on: May 13, 2022, 10:23:40 PM
Adding RTP data may be useful for some gamblers, but I don't care, to tell the truth. RTP is what works against you in the long term as your winning odds are always below 100% in the long term. What is truly interesting, I think are the additional features like free spin rounds, bonus rounds, multipliers, special symbols and jackpot. That's where you can change the situation. I mean if you manage to have a huge multiplier on the reels or a jackpot, this will completely change the situation. That's my opinion.

I completely disagree.

RTP is so important for players because it literally defines what their expected value out of the game is in the long run.

There is a huge difference between a slot that has 95% and 99% RTP, and I would choose the 99% RTP one any time of the day simply because of the fact that it is going to likely going to allow me to retain more earnings over the long term.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever thought of doing your thesis on Gambling ? on: May 13, 2022, 10:13:35 PM
Oh, there are a ton of them.

A lot of smart people are looking at arbitrage betting, expected value, etc.

But most of them are highly technical and not going to make sense for the average Joe for them to take advantage of. And certainly someone without a rigorous mathematical background would not be able to come up with these theorems in the first place.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Its time to buy - end of bear market incoming on: May 11, 2022, 11:27:40 PM
Personally would go as broad as possible when DCAing in.

But to be honest, I don't think that the opportunity is ripe yet to buy in.

There is still some pain in my opinion to come, especially because there is so much overleveraged people that are in crypto right now who don't know what a liquidation event looks like (Even corporations like microstrategy in my opinion). Wait until these events cascade and we'll see what's up.
33  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best casino other than Stake . com? on: May 11, 2022, 10:30:34 PM
Can't ever guarantee no ID with any centralised casino.

However, Roobet, Duelbits are really good alternatives with quite high limits. Although the downside is that there has been some shady links to influencers and apparently they are a bit stricter with KYC now.

Blackjack.fun is also a surging one that I've personally played on a lot - their main advantage is that they have a very complete set of blackjack games and also have instant withdrawals.

But please, whatever you go with, make sure you do your DD before going in.
34  Economy / Gambling / Re: I miss the old OnChain gambling on: May 11, 2022, 10:10:49 PM
Onchain gambling is gone, it was one of the first ways to gamble our bitcoins... The casinos used to be totally anonymous, to the point where you don't have to create an account on the casino to place a bet. And that was what I call freedom.

When I join to this crypto world in 2014, there use to be 2 casinos with this feature, their name was Lucky bit and Satoshi Bones. And their games have a unique address where you can send your coins and get back to the bet result to the address where the bet comes from. That was how they didn't ask for an account to place a bet.

Those engines were provably fair, and the max wins were up to 100BTC in lucky bit (in that time BTC was at $500 approx) but still huge.

The new casinos are crazy with their KYC rules and customer support. They hold users' money as if they were the owners of the money, and you can find all the same slots games bringing a lack of original and probably fair games.

Maybe regulation brings us to the current situation, but in the past was funnier, fair, and legit. And that's why I miss the old onchain gambling.

Do you remember those old casinos, and what are your thoughts about the current gaming sites compared with the old ones?

Completely agree.

Some on-chain casinos were goated, for instance Directbet - I remember you could literally drop tens/hundreds of BTC per bet and it's just such a smooth and classic experience.

But some others like Chain-bet just never took off despite being on chain, mostly because it was just really inconvenient to use their platform. And I certainly don't miss that.
35  Economy / Gambling / Re: Crypto Bet: A wider Array of Altcoins are being usef on: May 11, 2022, 09:54:06 PM
Not surprising.

I think the primary driver of these statistics is the fact that mainstream influencers are now adopting crypto based casinos and telling others to use it.

There are some concerns with this, though, especially with the surge of "fake money" players who seem to be whales but are in reality just sponsored by the casinos themselves. But overall this is a great trend.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler turns 60 pence bet into £157,865.59 on: May 11, 2022, 09:21:23 PM

How can you explain such fortunate winning happening for real? It looks unlikely and unrealistic even for a Hollywood movie script!

So are you suggesting that he may have fixed all 16 games ? or better yet he can be an undercover time traveler ?

Of course its luck unrealistic yes, but it happened so yeah one lucky guy.
I don't know, there are different hypothesis: fixed matches, time traveller, fake news, fate or supernatural influence which can't be understood or explained by the science... Wink

What most amazes me is that it's not like winning 16 times in a roll on dice, roulette or at any other gambling game. This gambler managed to pick the only correct draw result among 16 games and also predicted correctly a match which changed the result at his favour at 92 minutes of gameplay!

Pretty sure that's 60 pence as well which is 0.6 pounds.

You always see these crazy parlays because they are inevitably going to happen given a large enough sample size, but you're probably not going to see yourself hit one of these in your lifetime.

Heck, even Drake has hit numerous crazy parlays on Stake - but he bets so much that it is bound to happen.
Thank you. I was in doubt what "60p" could mean and presumed it should be "pound", but as you say, "pence" makes more sense. Changed the title of the thread taking your observation in account.

No problems, glad to help.

But just to rebut your point, it's inevitable that this was going to happen to someone at this point.

People shouldn't take this as indication that they should also go out there and try to do the same - reality is far from that. It is an insane amount of luck that you require just to even hit half of the legs and you shouldn't do it seriously.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Everything stop on: May 11, 2022, 09:09:29 PM
I'm really sorry for your loss. But look, this just shows you how important doing DD is.

Do Kwon was an egotistical asshole and this just serves him some instant karma imho. The LUNA ecosystem was always designed to fail like this given that in a depeg situation, the arbitrage mechanism essentially means that LUNA gets dumped on the market -> LUNA decreases in price -> further decreasing confidence that UST can stabilise.

Absolutely insane situation, but hopefully a lesson learned.
38  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Celtics vs Bucks 2nd round Series. on: May 11, 2022, 08:17:22 AM

The Celtics is indeed interesting to watch each game because they have that capacity to dominate even the heavy teams in the league right now and make them struggle, even if they are defeated, they will surely bounce back in the next game and correct the mistakes they did to have a must win as they cannot afford to lose a straight 2 games.

Now that they are back in Boston, the Celtics now have a higher hand when it comes to advantages while the Bucks are still undermanned. Last game, Al Horford and Jayson Tatum exploded while stating that they are not easy to defeat despite being the underdog.

I completely agree.

However, I just think that the Bucks have way more experience and will likely outlast the Celtics when it comes to a 7-game series.

Yes, they have a lot of talent and will be scary for years to come etc. but I think that Giannis will just be too much for them to overcome despite all the advantages that they may have. Giannis is just on a different level.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PROS AND CONS OF CRRYPTOGAMBLING. on: May 11, 2022, 07:52:08 AM
It's not much different from traditional gambling.

You get some pros like better odds (usually lower house edge because of the fact that there is so much competition), better VIP service, greater limits on your bets, and generally a more pleasant and convenient betting experience.

But the trustworthiness of the sites you play on is a huge factor. You don't have to worry as much physically when you win lots whether they will pay you out.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: RIP LUNA & UST ! Is USDD be same like that.. on: May 11, 2022, 07:43:07 AM
LUNA is literally hitting $1 before UST does (if it ever does).

No, LUNA is not a role model by any means. Their system was set up to essentially be ponzi-like and that does not benefit anyone.

All the algo stables that are backed by thin air is not unlike fiat currency, although just under the banner of decentralisation. The fact that the peg needs rescuing simply tells me that this is far from being decentralised.
