Just a suggestion, why not put the github downloads in the release section?
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: September 08, 2015, 10:12:56 PM

Sometimes I'll be mining 2 to 4 days straight with no issue, then all of a sudden the DAGs don't work and I need to regenerate them.

Also, if a pool(s) are eventually created, could make sure they implement stratum instead of getwork. I guess the miner could get forked to do stratum mining also.

The DAG file is completely regenerated with entirely different contents every 30000 blocks (~100 hours). It needs to be generated (and takes time to do so) each 30,000 block cycle. DAG's can however be pre-generated, avoiding the need for the delay in generating one between each 30,000 block epoch. It seems there are a few comments/concerns related to DAG files, optimized configuration, space issues related to them, etc, So I will try to write a lengthier post explaining them, how they are used, and how to configure your environment to help clear up everyone's understanding.

That would be nice to know how to pre-regenerate them and relocate them to another drive to be read, especially people running ssds.

I was just looking at block target and is 60 seconds why? ETH is 16 seconds.

The reason I pushed the confirmation time to 60 seconds rather than ETH's 16 seconds is to give more time for block propagation and lower the amount of orphans created by the network.

Another issue I personally experience is, sometime the DAG files get corrupted. Is there anything to help minimize this or prevent it? It's not very ssd friendly to keep erasing and rewriting files....

I havnt had this issue but I also use a standard harddrive, i'll look it up and when I find the answer ill get back to you.

When are you guys going to give up on creating new coins and just continue to work on the 10+ you've already created?

Yet another Franko shitcoin.

How many coins do you think Christopher Franko has m8? He has released 3, FRK (which is still actively supported), ADN (a tribute to his first born son), and MIM (a parody). Expanse is a platform he is going to use for his exp.life project which also incorporates FRK. Is the water under your bridge a bit nippy today?

Franko/Defaced is a trusted dev, I've mined and traded both FRK and ADN in the past. Sure, the coins aren't doing great in the financial sense, but he still supports them compared to other devs.

Take a look at XQN aka Joe M, the dev ditches the project and make his last update an unnecessary 32-bit wallet, instead of updating the latest bitcoin core for security reasons. That's an example of a bad dev.

How dare you insult me like that. I can't keep my emotions under control? Who the fuck do you think you are? I'm a victim of this coin and fell for the Ethereum hype.
I got rekt once again due to a scammer. I hate this. I hate crypto and most of all, I hate Philipvdlinde.

Serious.. perhaps you wont believe this but i feel you. I have been scammed as well. And you just feel sick of it all. I know it too well

We've all be scammed in cryptos once or twice at least. I've fell for a couple scams since I start in 2011, but I lived and learned, now I am wiser. Some people are really good at scamming, just learn the signs when it might occur and exit fast. Once you learn to not fall for certain people that are known scammers, ie. Joe M, bobsurplus and others, you will be a happier in cryptos.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: September 08, 2015, 06:11:10 PM
why does franko make shit like franko currency and aiden?

Why does someone do anything?

I made Franko to learn, first hand how cryptocurrency operates, and to give people another option with attributes that I found desirable. Franko has a monetary policy based on longevity and scarcity which virtually eliminates most of the early adopter benefits that are so rooted in the crypto currency community. I made ADN, 1 as a tribute to my first born, and two, to stress test the less memory intensive version of scrypt that it uses because I was thinking about adding it into FRK (which I have later decided against).

So that begs the question, why am I making EXP?

Because I have another project ive been working on for about a year called, EXP.life, a gamified micro employment platform that will create immortal profiles/resumes of people that live on a blockchain and there is very little incentive for me to use ETH.

But to answer my very first question, why do I work on crypto projects? 1, to learn (i'm a kinetic learner) and 2, because I can.

if you could make that coin with a less memory intensive (and smaller dag files) version of this algo ,that would be good.

DAGs takes 2 to 3 GB. What's the CLI command to stop continuously regenerating DAGs. I swear I got like 20GB of DAGs and growing....lmfao

No, you got rekt cause you fell for the scam.

Sounds like that's on you.

Wow, seriously dude, take a chill pill. Not trying to insult you, just pointing out the obvious. If you think everyone is out to get you, then you need some counseling, spiritual and mental help.

I agree with NextGenCrypto, it falls under you to get scammed and/or fail on financial decisions in your life. First, you need to be accountable for your actions first before blaming anyone else. You can only control what you do, "no one is putting a gun to your head" as the saying goes. Who am I, I'm a human being just like you, but obviously I have better discipline, composure, resolve and initiative than you at the current state. Maybe you need to learn to love yourself first, sound like you hate yourself.

There's a problem with the links to the social media stuff on the OP, just wanted to point that out...

Cool, I'll be direct my ETH/SHIFT miners to those asap on the live network.... Cool

Will this stay POW or will it change to a POW/POS hybrid or POS? What's the total coins for POW?

A lot of EMO people poping out, but what ever if the dev team sold the 50k to fund their development is not like is a crazy amount of btc.

Interesting, so the OP doesn't have Ehtereum listed but the website does. So, the Ethereum project/devs is on-board with Blocknet?
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] First Ethereum fork. GUI wallet. No ICO/IPO. PoW, Bountys. Bittrex. on: September 08, 2015, 04:40:27 AM

MISSION

SHIFT is based on Ethereum and represents its first fork. This enables smart contracts and a full turing-complete
contract programming language.

SHIFT will offer bounties for individuals that help the network grow by pushing decentralized applications onto the
SHIFT blockchain. Our aim and hope is to make SHIFT a competitively sized network in regards to number of nodes
and dapps.

Next to the internal developments we are looking to actively sponsor and incentivize a continuous and rapid evolution
of the platform via bounties and development funds, provided from the existing premine.

After a minimum of 2 Million SHF mined, holders will have the ability to vote on future means of
distribution, i.e. when and how a switch to a pure PoS or hybrid PoW-PoS system will take place.

Is there an update to the Horizons portions of the OP? It's slated for today or is it just tentative scheduling?

Is there anywhere I can see the transactions for my wallet?

Would like to be able to see what I'm mining.

You can use the GUI wallet, it's in the zip file in the same folder as the cli wallet. Make sure you have the cli wallet/wallet daemon running before opening the GUI wallet.

I did a 32-bit build of the Windows wallet and uploaded the link to the 1st post.  Enjoy Cheesy

This was the hint that he exited, making sarcasm by making an unnecessary 32-bit wallet when a update to the latest bitcoin wallet security was important....What an @$$ wipe of a person....Joe M needs to be put on blast for his crooked ways in crypto world....

Hello friends, I've been mining since the beginning and was wondering what are some of the bounties available right now? This coin is doing amazingly well compared to Ethereum. The #1 bounty I want to see is an Augur clone without the ICO premine.

Someone needs to make a real-time block explorer, that would be nice for starters. Maybe a couple of creative DAPPS. Another pool would be nice that has email notifications if a miner(s) are submitting share or is down. There's tons of other things that probably others can think of. Maybe a miner that has more optimizations, especially for Nvidia. A QT wallet. Ask the dev what bounties are available or wait until an update on the OP about it...

What is the bounty for the real-time block explorer? I can spend 1 BTC to get it built. Would the bounty be around today's rate of 2200 SHF?

Cryptoid is the best blockexplorer and costs 0.25 BTC/year
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/

$100 USD/year, not .25 BTC.

Someone posted a better block explorer back in the beginning of this thread. It was Ethereum compatible. I think https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ is only Bitcoin compatible.

I can't seem to find any open source ethereum block explorer. etherscan.io looks the most powerful

There's also https://etherchain.org/ . But an opensource explorer for ethereum seems to be not currently available.

250 + 200 + 10 = 500 ? The premine is 250k. You can use the shift binary to check every block starting from genesis.

./shift-bin dump 0

Kind regards

haha so easy .. rounded amount you know ..approximation. add ~  ...

This is not an insult, but how the hell is 250+200+10=500? It's 460, you don't need calculus for that...lol

[/quote]

are you sure?? i will double check

I am very sure, I've taken vector calculus and simple addition isn't one of my weak point...lmfao

I think your just trying to be funny, just my assumption....

Don't dwell on the premine so much, if the total pow coins end up being 2 million, then that's just 12.5%. Compare to Ethereum, most of the coins are IPO/ICO are way over 50% (just being nice, more like 90% of the current total). It's either a partial premine and/or an IPO/ICO, projects do cost some capital to start and/or maintain.

The problems with all cryptos, including BTC, is adoption, practical usage, simplicity and gross power emissions (ie. gpu mining, asic, etc aren't very eco friendly). Some have transparency issues that create trust issues, possible ponzi schemes...
