201  Other / Off-topic / Re: whats your favorite car? on: August 07, 2015, 11:47:36 AM
Tesla Model S, planning to buy one in a few months or in one/two years.

All electric cars Wink

Great choice, I would like to drive one some day too. Unfortunately I think that is going to take ages for me ^^. Although they should fix some serious security problems that these cars are currently facing.

Neither 200 years old paper currency will be forgotten nor it would be disappeared, and can bitcoin survive that old?? I simply don't think so, as fiat has ruled the world since ages and would be getting replaced by new born crypto currency is simply not possible.
Quote
In the old ages when paper currency originated, people would also be saying the same thing that you are saying. But now feel the change.
And same thing is gonna happen in the upcoming 200 years.

I agree with you. The fact that something is as it is for many years, does not mean it cannot be changed.  I foresee an important role of cryptocurrency in the future, but I don't think fiat will vanish soon. Although I think cash money is likely to become less and less used. I think in a few years, some shops stop accepting cash money (and only accept payments through people's bank card) here in the Netherlands. The latter has so much advantages. A trend which I see already today is that people who pay by bank card pay less for the same products than people who pay with cash money.

203  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it illegal to purchase and use the Gift Cards, ie Starbucks, Steam? on: August 06, 2015, 05:26:27 PM
Just try to find legit codes over here. Yes, they're more expensive than fraudulent ones.

Buying more expensive ones doesn't necessary mean they are legit.  A fraudulent person can sell them at 5% off and the code still be fraudulent.

What I wanted to know is am I liable for using one of those fraudulent card (not necessary brought here)

What I wanted to say is that if Gift Cards appear to good to be true (thus too cheap), it's likely a scam.

The topic I was referring to can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=933727.msg10237157#msg10237157

I guess the balance will just be deducted as soon as they find out, and that's it. But ofcourse we're not sure.  I suggest you not to be involved in those illegal activities.

1st of all, all those suppliers giving incredible low rates are all suppliers of a carded card.

Meaning the balance on those will not last long, and sure its "illegal" to purchase but whos looking over you? its why so many do it anyways.

Appearently the companies self are looking over you, as they most of the time find these illegal used gift card codes and deduct the balance. Then you've lost money instead you win a little bit. Just try and go for official ones Wink.

Recentely someone has shown me https://www.egifter.com/. Looks valid to me Wink.
204  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I want to start a bitcoin gambling Casino. on: August 05, 2015, 10:53:31 PM
This is certainly not a small venture. You're going to need, at the least: HTML, CSS, JS for frontend. For backend, PHP (unrecommended), Java, NodeJS. Coin handling will require C++ or Java. This will all take a large amount of work to keep running, and even more work to keep running securely.
Hey guys, i want to start my own gambling casino. please guide/suggest me how many programming languages do i have to learn before it. and how much time it will take in learning them.
Thanks.

You need 100BTC at least to start thinking about it :-)

This. I think it is pretty hard to learn about the coding (maybe you can better ask a known programmer to do this for you). Next to this, I think you need A LOT of BTC! What if some big spenders join your casino? You've to be able to pay their winnings.

Like Hexafraction mentions, you might look for investors to collect enough funds. The programming of the casino is probably going to cost a lot too. (The same applies for security experts).

However, before you go further with your plans, think about what makes your casino different from others. There are multiple Bitcoin gambling casino's these days, and a lot have already proven themselves. Competing with them is going to be a very harsh job: your casino somehow needs to be different. A clone (with a new design or something) will not be sufficient. A lot of marketing should be nessecary, which is also going to cost A LOT.
205  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Blockchain! They steal me there my firsts bitcoin :P on: August 05, 2015, 10:32:53 PM
After broad agreement that blockchain.info is one of the best if not the best online wallet - suddenly the recent couple of weeks we have horror story after horror story and people saying they have closed their account there etc..

I wonder if some competitor(s) wallet(s) are targeting blockchain.info and trying to capture customers...??

Blockchain.info used to suffice, but their technology is out of date and extremely vulnerable. It's pretty well accepted now adays that Blockchain is not an adequate wallet, and it has been this way for a while now. @OP, I would recommend not using blockchain.info in the future.

And if you keep using Blockchain.info, only store small amounts on it. The same applies for each web-wallet by the way.

However, two factor authentication makes most wallets really safe. Tip #1: enable two factor authentication.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC in your country on: August 05, 2015, 10:29:03 PM
do you think bitcoin can penetrate the price $ 2,000, how many years ago ?

/Start speculation
..
/End speculation.

No one knows, so you're just asking for speculations and opinions. I think it will. I think especially the following year is important for the future of Bitcoin (as we're currently in a period in which the coin has lost a lot of value since its All Time High and the coin appears not to be recovering towards such rates again soon). Let's see where we are at in December 2016 Wink.

- -

More on topic, I think the Bitcoin gets more and more accepted (and thereby used) in the Netherlands. However, the acceptation is still way to little in my opinion. Again, I think also the following year is very important for this acceptation. Remember that the Bitcoin is still really new - it needs some time to be even more succesfull.
207  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: August 05, 2015, 10:23:19 PM
I mean you can only tally up the #`s so much on excel.

Eventually, you`ll have to cut the loss of whats not needed or lower it significantly. Esp, like internet being on the phone talking about how you can downgrade your service but still have basic internet. From $55 to $14 a month.

I understand what you mean. It really depends on your financial situation. I mean this can be bad, or real bad. In the latter, maybe cancelling your internet and TV contracts might be neccesary and downgrading won't suffice. A good friend of me has been there. Although he kept his TV contract (as he was unable to cancel it without extra costs), he canceled his internet contract.

He solved this lack of internet in a great way. He simply went to his neightbour and asked whether he allowed him to use his Wi-Fi. The neighbour did (as that is a nice old man) and did not want anything in return for that. I gave my friend a cheap Wi-Fi repeater at that time which I bought on a Chinese website earlier but didn't use. He placed this Wi-Fi repeater at a smart place in his house, and nowadays he still shares the internet with that neighbour (although his financial situation has improved a lot).   The neighbour still does not wants anything in return for that, although my friend nowadays washes the windows of the neighbour at the first floor - he's unable to do that by himself. A great win-win situation if you ask me. Smiley

How many respondents do you have at this moment? How many respondents do you think you need to be able to generalize the results?

You should take care of the validity of your research though; I'm not sure where you are collecting the respondents, but if all your data comes from Bitcointalk.org users, this has negative effects on your validity. (I can imagine that Bitcointalk.org members for example use their PC quite often and therefore have software wallets (and know how to use USB-sticks for back ups etcetera. There might also be people with less knowledge of PC's which only have a hardware wallet or a mobile Phone to make use of their bitcoins. The latter group is not yet involved in your research).

I have about 70 completely finished surveys (although about 200 respondents started the survey, they didn't answer all the questions), but I want at the very least 100 respondents. I have this survey on various bitcoin forums so validity isn't the problem.

And btw... mobile wallets are still software wallets Smiley

Alright, thanks for your reply. Mobile wallets was just an example. Maybe hardware wallets was a better example.

As you still only involve people on forums, my point still lasts concerning your validity. I'm not here to complain, but I only want to help as I've been there too. I'm not sure how strict they are at the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security - University of Maribor in Slovenia, but I can imagine that you get some questions regarding the validity.

70 Respondents is already quite nice indeed. Too bad you have so many people not answering the questions. The amount of respondents you mention (200) is really a lot, I guess there has to be a reason for that. (For your interest, in previous surveys I had to do for my study years ago, 10% of all the respondents not completing the survey was already a lot, although I've used other methods to promote the survey).
209  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Internet Marketing on: August 05, 2015, 10:07:42 PM
I'm into Internet Marketing myself too. If you want to sell a healthy product, I think you should look for parties that provide affiliate marketing for you.

On these affiliate networks, you can set the amount of % you want to pay "affiliates" (promotors of your product on their own websites) for each sale. For example 5%-10%.

This really works quite effective. At the better affiliate networks, you can set really strict demands for the affiliates. For example, you can control by yourself who you allow to promote your product and who doesn't. In that way, you can allow affiliates with for example blogs about healty lifestyles etcetera to promote your product. This is quite effective and in relation to "just" marketing also cheap: you will only pay the affiliates (for example 5%-10% of the value of the product only for each sale) and the affiliate network a bit.
210  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it illegal to purchase and use the Gift Cards, ie Starbucks, Steam? on: August 05, 2015, 10:03:45 PM
I've asked the very same question before, although it was about Amazon.com giftcards.

The reactions I had on that question, were about that if you redeemed a illegal code, the balance simply will be deducted from your balance again  - but that's it.

However, I don't want to use any of these illegal codes. Next to that, you also loose the money you paid for the illegal code. Just try to find legit codes over here. Yes, they're more expensive than fraudulent ones.
211  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: August 05, 2015, 07:30:44 PM
Every time you spend money write it down. Easier to keep track of your expenses if you see them on paper.
Once you know that amount and what you're using it on, you can make informed decisions as to where you can reduce your spending in order to save that money instead.

yes, a budget that you put down on paper/spreadsheet will probably show you some expenses you never really thought of, and its a good idea to add EVERYTHING, even small monthly expenses like $8/month for netflix should be on there, if you dont account for that stuff you're only hurting yourself

You're right in the sense that all the small expenses result in a large expense each month indeed. In order to react on your example of Netflex, some accounts of Netflix allowed you to be shared (with 4 other persons, so in total 5). This makes Netflix really cheap, and much cheaper than a ordinary television contract. Besides that, also on this forum you can find very cheap life-time Netflex account, although I think those account are not legal (thus hacked or something). However, sharing a Netflix account will save you money thus. Especially if you quit your ordinary TV contract.

It looks like BiPolarBob is helping people out again. I've recieved another Amazon gift card code of him two hours ago, for absolutely free! He just sent me a PM with a valid code out of nowhere. How fantastic is that!

Haters gonna hate. It's time for everyone to understand that BiPolarBob is a great guy without any scam intentions. The world needs more BiPolarBobs!

213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com — D E L T A on: August 05, 2015, 03:52:12 PM
But taking over a big chunk of NL's ecosystem is the main focus at the moment – doesn't mean that it is the main focus forever.

I agree with you, although I think this is the right way of surviving the early stage of this coin. It needs a solid base, and I think indeed this can be find in the Netherlands. Looking at the online and offline merchants, you guy are already doing a great job.

As soon as the coin is solid in the Netherlands, you can start looking more serious abroad Wink.

The problem with that is that Dutch people don't pay much attention to local success – it's almost unwanted – so for it to flourish in NL, it needs to flourish outside NL.

I guess it's just a matter of time. I think that relates to the acceptation of the Bitcoin too. It just needs some time over here. It's a slow process, but I'm sure more and more online and offline merchants are going to accept Bitcoin. If the BTC becomes more famous over here, it much easier for a coin like Guldencoin to be succesfull here too.

We're indeed struggling to keep up with the support requests, sorry! Sad

Can you please PM me your order number or e-mail address so that I can look into it?

Are you looking to hire staff? Wink

Also, because the database was wiped, do "personal" coupon codes still work, or were they wiped as well?

I'm not sure whether you also received an email about the database being wiped. If so, there's also a coupon code in that email for 15% off.

Surprisingly I received 2 emails with quite the same message. However, 1 email contains a code which offers -15% off untill 7 August, and the other email contains (the same) code which offers -15% of untill the 12th of August ^^

Can you share some preliminary results yet? Would be very interesting to see!

Also nice to know if older users use different wallets etc.

I am afraid there is not enough data yet, to make any conclusions...

216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people still play dice? on: August 05, 2015, 03:36:54 PM
its addiction once you make some easy money you then want to repeat it again and again easy money is attractive i used to play dice i loss like 0.1 BTC but i did not stop i wanted to cover all i keep on playing and as soon as i cover the investment i managed to get back 0.1 BTC i withdraw and stop

You're right on that point. Such addiction is dangerous. I think most of us know someone who has serious problems with gamble addictions.

Because of the addiction, people simply do not know when they should stop.
- If they are making money, they think they are in the winning mood and continue gambling 'to win even more'
- If they are loosing money, they continue gambling 'to cover previous costs'.

I think such addictions especially arise at people gambling at fruit slots. Whenever you enter a casino over here, you are likely to see the very same people behind this slot machines each time.

218  Local / Alt Coins (Nederlands) / Re: De E-Gulden propaganda on: August 05, 2015, 03:28:14 PM

219  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think BiPolarBob is crazy ?? - share with us the help he gave to you on: August 05, 2015, 03:23:15 PM
But there are many times when he's asked for upfront payment, and if he was going to scam he would obviously ask for upfront payment then and many would trust him enough or take the risk. I think if he was going to do this he would have done it already. People are just skeptical of others around here but it's not a bad thing really. 99.9% of people don't give shit away for free on here.

"I think if he was going to do this he would have done it already.". Indeed, but I don't think he ever will. There is no point in spending so much money in give aways just to build trust or something.

Like you said, in my situation BPB also sent a code before I did my part of the deal. There's no way to scam that way. Yes, codes might not be legit. However, I've got his Amazon code for many months now in my account and the balance has not been deducted. It's therefore legit.
220  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think BiPolarBob is crazy ?? - share with us the help he gave to you on: August 04, 2015, 12:04:03 PM
This is why we can't have nice things in this world
A guy gives shit away for real cheap or just for free and we just insult him and call him a scammer

Haha, that's a good one. I think because such nice people are so scarce these days, people become mistrustful.

Maybe also the fact that this forum has / has had a lot of scammers makes people more mistrustful these days.
