2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: June 10, 2014, 11:39:39 AM
alpha is coming, and then you'll (we all) see the benefits of NEM

Have you actually tested the alpha yourself?
2002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 10, 2014, 11:36:37 AM
To Monero devs and enthusiasts.

Do you think there is a reputable and trustworthy individual among you who would be interested to set up an exchange buro of Moneros on the NXT Asset Exchange? I noticed, not many centralized exchanges are willing to create XMR/BTC trading pairs, due to Monero differences in software from Bitcoin forks.

NXT AE allows someone to operate as an exchange buro and profit from setting the price of an asset and charge redemption commissions.

Since I really like NXT, this catches my attention. I will consider it.

Good. Qora users have set up their gateway yesterday, and there is already some demand from NXTers on the first day. Because Monero wallet is still not trivial to set up for non-technical users, I believe many would keep it as an asset on the NXT AE for convenience. Or redeem. Either way the gateway owner would profit from commissions and market making as the first seller, "droit du seigneur", as they used to say Smiley
2003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: June 10, 2014, 11:09:01 AM
Thanks for the answer. I've tryed to buy/sell tokens. My account balance does change but yeah, those transactions never show up in the blockchain.

I am not very technical to explain it, but what I am thinking because that is all contained within that ask order transaction that you created, it's being locked up somewhere in the blockchain with the quantity of the asset and only quantity of the asset is updated when someone buys and you get your NXTs, but this purchase doesn't create a new transaction in the blockchain. Perhaps future versions of the client will somehow show more details and can make it easier for traders, but it works as is, NXTs get in and out fine Smiley
2004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT/NEM or Monero/Bytecoin? on: June 10, 2014, 11:04:22 AM
It's actually kind of interesting how the community seems to be ignorant to the fact that bitcoin and other coins are fundamentally distributed in a similar if not even less fair way since you need both the technical knowledge to mine as well as access to affordable electricity.

Well, not the entire community is ignorant for sure. With each passing day more and more of the community is getting it that PoS is the future, just look at the number of PoW/PoS hybrids and pure PoS alts that popped out in 2014. There is just this old school miners mentality taking its roots a few years ago that is hard for people to overcome in their minds, but progress cannot be stopped, change is inevitable. Adapt yourself or die out, this is a basic natural principle.
2005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: June 10, 2014, 10:56:57 AM
I've just started using AE and something doesn't seem right.

I set a selling order: 1M tokens at 0.007. Someone bought 1000 tokens for 7 Nxt.

But those 7 coins never got to my account.
https://nxtblocks.info/#section/accountId/NXT-SSGH-KCZX-YBJQ-7NKWE

How could it be?

It won't show as a separate transaction when you sell an asset, but your balance will update. You had 69, now you have 76 NXTs. Click on the blue 'more info' in your client's dashboard to see different types of balances, that should provide some useful info as well.
2006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT/NEM or Monero/Bytecoin? on: June 10, 2014, 07:25:31 AM
Can someone explain to me why a PoW coin where miners put up their money/resources(equipment/energy) is inherently more fair than these alternative ways of distributing stake at the beginning?

They can't explain that. Suppose, someone wants to get into bitcoin now, or any other coin from the top 10, they have to spend money to buy, can't mine anything with their normal laptop or even a gamer's computer. You have to buy either ASICs or buy coins at exchanges. But it's not fair! Someone could mine bitcoin with their office computer for years before it got to this stage! So, yeah, mostly people are pissed off because they weren't in the IPO for PoS coins, but they can't voice their complaint openly. Their ego prevents them from eating their pride and buying at exchanges at low prices while they last. They end up buying later at a higher price or not buying at all and missing the opportunity.
2007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: June 10, 2014, 07:21:18 AM
NXT ticked me off by being closed source.

NXT has been open source for a long time now.
2008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT/NEM or Monero/Bytecoin? on: June 10, 2014, 06:44:42 AM
No average joe in their right mind, would buy a coin like NXT or NEM, where 99% of the stakeholders are sockpuppet accounts for a few people

haha, now they go even after NEM, which was supposed to be fairly distributed.
Like BCNext said, you just can't distribute fairly to all 7 bln. population of the earth, there will always be someone who was left out. Hence, no matter how fairly it's distributed, someone will always complain it's not fair to him personally, thus it doesn't matter if it's 73 or 4000 initial stakeholders, both systems will be criticized regardless.
2009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 10, 2014, 06:35:07 AM
...later we can sell NXT on Qora. I can understand people trying to defend Qora but isolationist thinking will only isolate Qora.

Exactly, if AE was functioning on Qora, someone would set up a similar gateway for NXT on Qora AE, what is the problem here? Communities can and must interconnect and buy each other's coins. Dzarmush made it easier for everyone.

What was happening in the digital currency scene in 1999?

e-gold? Was a good e-currency, too bad they shut it down.

Boolberries should trade on the NXT decentralized Asset Exchange. This will create more demand for them from NXTers. BBR/NXT is about 4.25 right now. Somebody trustworthy in the Boolberry community and who cares that the price of boolberries is sliding needs to create a Boolberry asset and sell it, redeemable to real boolberries on demand.

Have a look at how Qora user set up a Qora asset today:

2012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 06:17:13 PM
It's still an awkward process no matter how anal you want to be about the terms you use.

It'll get a bit less awkward when there are more fiat->NXT gateways, the goal is to disconnect from having to go through Bitcoin. It just doesn't happen overnight, takes time.
2013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 06:07:10 PM
1 qora was last sold for 42 satoshi at poloniex when the trade was opened, it's frozen now.
42 satoshi was because sharexcoin qora dumping @ poloniex.
I think qora price will get back to itself around 100 satoshi very quickly (and that is also just the beginning  Wink)

When did the dumping start? Because I see the price jumping at around 50 satoshi over June 1 - June 5 period.
2014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: June 09, 2014, 06:02:18 PM
Everyone is expecting the new release with enabled DGS, Alias trading and probably other juicy things. Hopefully we get it by the end of June, then it's a whole new level. It's like a game of Doom, you go from one level to another, monsters are more and more scary Smiley whereas with bitcoin and most of its forks you're stuck at Level 1 forever Smiley
2015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 05:57:21 PM

Ok, maybe my brain isnt working. Lol

What does that translate to in satoshi?

1qora = ? sat. An estimate.

1 qora was last sold for 42 satoshi at poloniex when the trade was opened, it's frozen now.
1 NXT sells for 9800-10200 satoshi, changing each minute.
Which translates to 0.0041-0.0043 NXT per 1 Qora. Later the exchange rate will be set by the market without looking at Bitcoin, but at the beginning we have to refer to Bitcoin's rate for both currencies to set the initial exchange rate.
2016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 05:53:19 PM

Yes, it's kinda a pain trading non-NXT crytpos on the NXT asset exchange. Since you have to trade against NXT, and the NXT/BTC pair is changing all the time. Also, to put a trade ORDER into the NXT AE you have to pay 1NXT, and to cancel the order you have to pay 1NXT.

Perhaps once they get some new features of NXT going (BTC gateway for 1) it won't be such a hassle.

It would be much better for Qora to add Peer-To-Peer (trustless) trading of Qora directly into the Qora wallet.

There are no 'NXT cryptos', haha. There is only one crypto - NXT, but it doesn't trade on its own exchange, because the basic unit of trading on the NXT AE is, you guessed it right, NXT, what would it trade against, itself? Smiley

There are different assets that trade on that exchange, their prices are quoted in NXTs.

Naturally Qora asset is also priced in NXTs. The smallest unit of 1 NXT is = 0.00000001 - called NxtQuant.

Yeah, it may be a pain to do all those conversions, especially since the standard now is Bitcoin and all prices on all exchanges are quoted in Bitcoins, but on the NXT AE the prices are in NXTs, this has to be accepted and will be accepted with time. People get used to things you know Smiley
2017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 05:21:48 PM
Ok, thanks guys.

What is a qora going for in the AE?

There is a single offer from Dzarmush pending, 1 Qora = 0.01500000 (1.5 mln NxtQuants Smiley). The last Qora/BTC trade at Poloniex was 42 satoshi, NXT is 9800 satoshi, Qora/NXT 42/9800 = 0.00428000 (428 000 NxtQuants) or about that sounds like a reasonable price to me, but he's the boss Smiley
2018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 04:34:43 PM
Account: NXT-SSGH-KCZX-YBJQ-7NKWE
Asset Id:  2950240446121913764

Can someone explain how this works, or point me to where it is explained in detail. I have used the Nxt asset exchange with NEM.

How does this work. Im confused about the 1hour, 48 hours, etc.

Just a simple explanation will do. Went back four pages, was that not far enough lol.

You go to NXT Asset Exchange, add the asset by Asset ID from above. And there you can purchase Qoras using your NXTs. Those are virtual (inside the NXT AE) Qoras. After you purchased them, you can withdraw them to your real Qora wallet. How to do that is explained in the Qora asset description. When you open it, you will see the instructions.

However, the price for Qoras is really not attractive there right now, much not attractive, such high Smiley
2019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 01:11:31 PM
Now my dummy question. How to send asset to someone?

Click on the yellow 'Assets owned' button on the dashboard and there is a Transfer link.

But all deals on the exchange are automatic, if they match the price, the asset will be transferred to the buyer automatically and you get your NXTs to the balance. The Transfer link is only if you want to manually transfer the asset.

EDIT: someone has to fix the original post of this thread now to list the NXT AE as another exchange to buy qoras.
2020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 09, 2014, 01:03:55 PM
Is there any way to receive a notification after someone sends you asset?

I think the Wesley's client flashes a green notification, but then it fades away in a few seconds, so you'll have to check manually the transactions list. By the way, don't forget to announce your new asset at the special board of the nxt forum.
