My questions:

Is it still possible to make profit owning the coin?

What is the lowest risk method of owning the coin?

Crypto currencies are high risk investments. Invest only what you can afford to lose.

The lowest risk method? Hm, just buy and hold for at least a year (it's a long-term investment, not a few weeks pump-n-dump kind of coin). If you intend to sell in a few weeks, don't bother, you will lose money guaranteed.

Bter.com is the best place to buy for newbies. Download official wallet, create an account with a long random pass phrase and withdraw from bter.com to your wallet.
1143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: nxt up bitcoin and all other top 10 coins down. on: August 14, 2014, 11:32:02 AM
Everyone is dumping their coins to get in on NxT.

Not everyone, only smart money.

Everyone else are just sitting on the fence or shitting their pants Smiley
1144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocoin Market Caps on: August 14, 2014, 11:30:42 AM
Nxt and Ripple are hovering around 40,000,000... where are they?

This thread is for PoW crowd only.

PoS coins are strictly prohibited and will be shot on sight Smiley

1. I have asked 5 questions on thread where the author has requested questions.
2. I received 5 retarded answers.
3. I came back to give some arguments.
4. The guy who gave me the retarded answers, tells me i am a "blatant troll" that is running a scam called MaskCoin.

No comments....Smiley)

Retarded questions deserve retarded answers, what did you expect? Smiley

Have you guys seen Dogeparty? What do you think about it? It seems like a carbon copy of Counterparty.. Not even any pictures of doges or anything.

It's faster and cheaper than Counterparty. Looks like Counterparty will lose a lot of users.
1147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: August 14, 2014, 10:48:58 AM
811 million doge burned,
~2750 'assets' created Smiley
1148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats up with LTC? on: August 14, 2014, 07:44:20 AM
That said it takes time for 2.0 to release so their is hope for these 1.0 coins to evolve and keep pace with newer emerging coins
Nothing remains static but it is still going to be a challenge for Litecoin.

Different implementations of crypto 2.0 are already released: NXT (has been around longer than others) and its minor clones, BitsharesX, Qora, NEM (testnet at the moment), Ethereum (testnet?), some others probably (hard to follow all of them). All of them are still under heavy development, unlike crypto 1.0, which stagnate and lose market share.
1149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats up with LTC? on: August 14, 2014, 06:45:45 AM
As I see it, ltc has to find a reason to stay around. If it doesn't, it will die. If it does, maybe it hits the moon.

The reason is the economy built on top of the crypto. Most crypto 1.0 are not suited for that, they are only money transfer tools, nothing else. Bitcoin has a first mover advantage, that's why it has somewhat more of this economy already built than others.

Only crypto 2.0 technologies truely allow to build natural economy, because they are/were designed from ground up for that. Economy = use cases for a crypto. One use case (money transfer and saving mechanism) is kind of covered by Bitcoin already, there is no use case for Litecoin.

Can somebody tell me what the current payout is right now per NXT coin per month?

And how is that payout expected to fluctuate in the near term?  Just a conservative ballpark figure is fine.

Thank you!

What kind of payout?
1151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Black Tuesday for altcoins! on: August 14, 2014, 04:45:11 AM
BTC will go to $340, while smart money will be moving into XRP.

Not sure about XRP, but BTC is/was a bootstrapping fuel for other more advanced coins.
Many Bitcoiners think that it's all static, the world is stuck with one crypto and it will be like that for decades, but they are wrong.
It's all dynamic, and Bitcoin only set the stage and provided financing for crypto 2.0 to develop.

Almost 1500 'assets' have been issued in the first hours of running. No wonder, issuance only costs $0.08. Compare it with ~$35 (at current price) in NXT. Now, how does Dogeparty deal with this mess of junk assets (most of them have no meaning)? Can developers raise the asset issuance fee, because if not, all the words in the English dictionary will be occupied I am afraid Cheesy

It's an altcoin forum, we don't care about bitcoin here Smiley
1154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum maximum number of coins on: August 13, 2014, 07:49:53 PM
And if you think that NXT intends to implement (and already has done a lot) everything Ethereum intends to implement (Smart Contracts, Automated Transactions, Turing blabla completeness), but much cheaper, you'd be rolling on the floor laughing at who in their right mind and in total sanity would have invested in Ethereum. Those 'investors' will be very surprised to find out what they burned their bitcoins on. Rude awakening, so to speak.
1155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: August 13, 2014, 06:41:25 PM
Hi,

When i'm trying to send som Degecoin from my BTER account to the testnet wallet address, i received a request error that my testnet wallet address is invalid Dogecoin address.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

You shouldn't be sending real doges to a testnet address. Send them to a real dogeparty address.

When will the decentralised exchange be implemented?

> @Lars: any rough ETA on market trading features being enabled in the wallet?

Not yet, but this also very much depends on how much demand there is. A market w/o liquidity is pretty bad.. Wink
[8/13/14 12:58:50 PM] Pete Moss: true that, i respect the decision to leave it disabled right now for the burn initiation

Perhaps the question on decentralized exchange was more related to client software. Going to a website to trade is not exactly decentralized. Is such software planned so users can download and trade from their own computers with such software hooked to the dogecoin blockchain running on the same computer? I believe Counterparty has a GUI wallet. Or is Dogeparty going to be all website based?
1157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - One Click Install Is Live[Updates & Discussion] on: August 13, 2014, 03:59:30 PM
Correction of NXT price is actually over, hopefully, that paints a rosier picture for NEM too Smiley
1158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Acceptance of Bitcoin Grows, as Does Wariness of Digital Currency on: August 13, 2014, 02:23:00 PM
Even if the price is dropping in these weeks, if we look at the charts it's clear that we are still following the previous bubbles pattern.
There's some more time to wait for the next rally, but with the adoption growing everyday won't be so far.

Time frames between previous bubble were shorter (~5 months), this extended period (over 8 months) of sideways price action means the pattern of bubbles is broken. Some other pattern has started to form.
1159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: August 13, 2014, 01:23:09 PM
Uses the existing Dogeparty blockchain. Don't use existing wallets, it's just way messier. We'll provide a wallet that supports XDP and the assets (a fork of Counterwallet). All is told on dogeparty.io.

In other words, it's ok to send directly from an exchange like bter to Dogewallet? Smiley
1160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: August 13, 2014, 01:16:27 PM
Does one need both Dogecoin-qt with the blockchain synced and Dogewallet to burn, or can we just install Dogewallet, send doges from an exchange to it and burn? Dogewallet will have its own blockchain?
