Senator Jeff Murkley... Rofl.. he had no idea what he was talking about! And these doofuses are going to make the laws for Bitcoin in America...
2062  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin will fail in the coming weeks (and alt-coins will rise) on: November 19, 2013, 07:46:54 PM
Cryptocoin news is another pump & dump supporting website.

Complete epic fail, never have they been right. They always say buy crapcoins.

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/2013/10/29/bitcoin-cryptocurrency-analysis-one-thing-week-44/

Since then the BTC/USD has gone up by about 400%, while their beloved XMP/BTC has declined by more than 50%. These guys are shitcoin shills, pure and simple.

I wouldn't really call Prime Coin a "shit coin". At least it provides some benefit to society by improving the mathematical understanding of prime numbers. This could have various positive effects in the field of mathematics.

Then again.. I'm not saying it's a good investment, but just that it's not a "crap coin". Prime coin was actually decently innovative compared to most of the copy and paste ALTs.
2063  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predictions on: November 19, 2013, 07:41:00 PM
The FBI already said that is not going to touch those coins, I suppose a proper trial is needed first right?

This.

I am 100% positive the FBI will do nothing with DPR's coins until he is given the due process of a criminal trial by jury and convicted as guilty.

2065  Economy / Speculation / Is everyone positioning themselves for a bubble? on: November 19, 2013, 07:24:07 PM
Compare:

This: https://blockchain.info/charts/market-price

to

This: https://blockchain.info/charts/n-transactions

It looks to me that possibly a lot of people are sending money into the exchange to get ready for a bubble. Of course this is just speculation, but it seems like it could be a possibility that the reason for the increased number of transactions is people getting their BTC on an exchange. The coinbase chart is actually where I just noticed this.. it shows both graphs side by side: https://coinbase.com/charts

I'm not saying that I am for sure right on this, but it is just something I noticed and something to take into consideration. Or is this just people transferring their newly bought Bitcoins to a safer storage medium? I suppose it's anyone's guess, but I'm interested in your opinions.
2066  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2013, 05:24:54 PM
Keep in mind there are OTC folks wanting to pay a lot more than gox.
There were some US$1200 sales in the last 24hours.  Localbitcoin is may hit gold parity today.
http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/localbtcUSD#rg1zig5-minztgSzm1g10zm2g25zvzl
Money launderers don't mind paying a vig, especially to buy a decentralized currency. I imagine they'd pay even more of a vig for BTC than they would through their other methods of money laundering (hence > BTC China's current price).
2067  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mtgox, Bitstamp "Let's calm down": 700, 550$. China "I don't give a fuck": 900$. on: November 19, 2013, 05:21:18 PM
The disconnect is staggering, no? I mean, I got used to mtgox prices being 10% higher than bitstamp, but right now it's more than 20%, and China's price is just plain unreal considering how much lower Bitstamp is.

What do you expect to happen? China pulling the rest up again, or the Bitstamp pulling everyone down? Or will it stay the way it is? After all, arbitrage between exchanges seems to be slow and not very effective in the past.

Just another theory of mine:

Chinese buying BTC to transfer money/wealth oversea. Guess where do they dump their coins?

Ummm... it seems like there are much cheaper options for getting their money overseas. It seems unlikely to me that they take a huge haircut (>$1000 -> <$750).

I think the more realistic scenario is that foreigners (non-chinese) will transfer their BTCs over to BTC China seeing they can get over $300 more per Bitcoin at the moment than Mt. Gox. This will level out the market in between MtGox and BTC China. The rest of the world will adjust the Chinese market price. I think a lot of Chinese buyers on BTC China are about to get burned.

2069  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2013, 05:00:04 PM
This is price DISCOVERY:
it started at $0.1 and went to $2. This is huge upswing of 200x, you don't consider that unsustainable?
then from $2 to $32
then to $266
now to $900

See the pattern, This is adoption rate, as more people join in, the higher the price.
With the press and govt. meeting and legitimizing bitcoin, I Will sell at $3,000 early next year. Just like $900 seemed 'out-of-your-mind' few weeks back
I very well could be wrong, it is just my opinion of what will happen. Only time will tell though, you bulls could very well be right.
2070  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2013, 04:46:41 PM
I agree this price cannot be sustained. No level headed investor is going to buy in at the top of a huge rally like this. Investing 101 says buy low and sell high, and most investors realize this. They are not going to continue to dump money into it on a huge upswing like this. It has gone up way too high & too fast to be sustained.

I would be very surprised not to see a flash crash down to the $300-$400 range this week. I expect this to happen any moment now. You can already see the market adjusting, but I doubt it will stop at $560. Even at $560 it's gone up too high & too fast to be sustained. Sorry bulls, but Bitcoin is not ready to be steady at >$550 just yet. This is just the middle of yet another bubble... this is not the first and it will not be the last.

Dave, we need the link the v3 sd card image.
I have one on hand, can anyone recommend a nice free place I could upload it? I think it is about 3.71 Gb

It wasn't really my intention when I made it, but it would be perfect for sharing because in the image I saved, the root password is not yet set and the default log in information is still in place (user: pi pass: raspberry).

v3 is the version that the latest batch shipped with, correct? or is this v2?
2072  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CryptoVest Physical Litecoins (Metal Alloy & Chocolate Coins)- They're here!!!! on: November 18, 2013, 08:15:31 PM
13 free coins left.

I want to make it clear, these are unloaded/unassembled coins. For the truly paranoid (you do not have to trust the issuer because you generate your own private keys) or just for the bargain shoppers. Smiley

I will probably sell some loaded coins at some point because that seems to be the version most people are interested in. I personally do not think there's much of a point in factory loaded coins other than for the sake of convenience. At the end of the day, you need to trust the person who you buy the coins from- especially when buying them used from 3rd parties. Although the holograms I use are technically "tamper evident", nothing is "tamper proof". There is no way to tell if the coin has been tampered with, as physical cryptocoins have been compromised (read: http://codinginmysleep.com/casascius-physical-bitcoins-cracked-at-defcon/). When I do end up making factory loaded coins, please make sure to use caution when buying them used. Only buy them used from extremely reputable community members and use common sense. Request high resolution images if buying them online to look for tampering, and if possible meet up in person so you can physically inspect them. It will take me a little more time to get these ready though, there are a couple things I need to do before they would be ready to sell.

I decided to do shipping on a case by case scenario to help save you a little bit on shipping. I realize the flat rate international rate was a little high, so I am trying to accommodate.

I will be including a surprise in each shipment. Wink

Cheers,

Ch

Has anyone had success contacting sales re: RMA's ? Have been waiting on a response for an RMA on 3 bad h-cards Sad

RMA issues aside, these rigs are beasts once they are configured and placed in an environment with proper cooling ! The one full rig I have up and running has settled around 535 GHs !

I also submitted a request and haven't received any response as of yet.
2074  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CryptoVest Physical Litecoins (Metal Alloy & Chocolate Coins)- They're here!!!! on: November 16, 2013, 03:25:08 PM
Hi,

I am finishing our website and next week I will start taking orders for our new product. In order to promote our new physical Litecoin, I have decided to give the first 20 people to PM me a free coin!!! Unfortunately, shipping costs are not included. If you would like to add more coins to your shipment to save on shipping costs, you may purchase extra coins for $1.49 usd each. After this initial promotion, orders will only be accepted through our website and we will at the very least accept LTC/BTC for payment.

Each coin comes unloaded with two holograms. You will generate the address/private key locally on your computer using an open source program (Casascius' Bitcoin Address Utility- I paid to have it ported to Litecoin by my friend msm595). Obviously a printer is needed to print out the coin insert. Full assembly instructions will be posted on our website when it launches next week, but the process is pretty straightforward and I'm sure all of you are very capable. Sorry for the unprofessional/unfocused pictures.. these were taken from my phone. I'm working on getting some more professional images shot, but you can see an example of the product here: http://imgur.com/a/MGjCX

For more information on the project, see my latest update here: https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,1940.msg52363.html#msg52363

Shipping costs:
Case by case scenario

Ordering information:
I'll post here after the 20 free coins are gone. Only PMs on Litecoin forums will be accepted for this contest- do not PM me on bitcointalk. After the promotion is over, orders must be made through our website for the sake of automation.

Please PM me if you are interested, include the following in your PM:
1. Name
2. Shipping address as it would appear on a shipping label
3. If you would like any extra coins

I will PM you back with a LTC payment address and the total amount for your order.

Cheers,

Ch

Around when will these be for sale?
This coming week via the web site. If you do not want to wait until then (actually there is no reason why you wouldn't..)

See my next post on a promotion I am doing to launch the sale of the coins.

Thanks
2076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [RFC] Bitcointalk Senate on: November 16, 2013, 03:01:09 PM
I agree that we need to elect our own community elected representative of Bitcoin. It is obvious the Bitcoin Foundation is in bed with the American government and are willing to bend over backwards for them. We need someone that stands up for what most normal Bitcoin users believe in and someone whom represents us well.
2077  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Criticize my tamper-proof paper wallet design... and steal 0.1 BTC if you can. on: November 16, 2013, 02:37:03 PM
I bet someone at Defcon could probably do it. They seemed to have no problem compromising Casascius coins which are probably considered the most secure/safe physical cryptocoins in existence.

IMO no physical variation of cryptocoins is 100% secure. The security measures and tamper evident properties will be broken over time as new technologies are developed and implemented. That's part of the reasons I probably won't sell "loaded" coins in my physical cryptocoin project, only customer funded/assembled coins. I don't want anyone to get the idea that I personally back the coin's worth if they are factory loaded and appear to have not been tampered with.

The truth is I cannot stop people from tampering with the coins after they leave my hands. As with all physical cryptocoins, it comes down to trusting the person you're buying the coins from that they haven't tampered with it... no matter what security measures are implemented or how reputable the company is that makes them.

This is the us bigest fear! but WILL happen
so all thoose LEAKED ,,,,, Bullshit......... please.
we know why this is happening.

I'm not trying to get into politics, but your post is kind of out in left field. What are you even talking about.. I don't understand.

What is the USA's biggest fear?

Leaked? Are you talking about oil spills or what?

We know why what is happening?

I tried to understand your post, but I am failing miserably. I almost feel like you meant to post in one of the Coin Validation threads. Smiley
2079  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for oil? on: November 16, 2013, 02:10:29 PM
It's a shame that the US government recently got interested in Bitcoin, I have an interesting opportunity to provide a security in the likes that Bitcoin has never seen before... drilling our own oil well.

I work in the oil & gas business doing land title research ("landman"). We find out who owns mineral rights under property and go out and lease them for oil companies to drill for oil/gas. Normally we work under contract for oil companies, but we (my family and some partners) recently decided to try our own luck and we went out and leased a large block of land in an oil/gas rich area in Texas. This area is pretty hot with development, with rigs sprouting up all over the place.

The problem is we are seeking funding to drill the well, it is very expensive. I had an idea to fund it using Bitcoins via a security, but unfortunately the current legal cloud surrounding Bitcoin kind of killed that idea before it got started. We'll find an investor elsewhere, but I thought it would have been cool. Imagine the news... "Bitcoin drills for oil" and all the PR Bitcoin would get. One can dream I suppose.  Grin

If anyone has any ideas of how we could go about doing this legally, shoot me a PM. I thought about maybe getting someone trustworthy that was outside of the US to own/run the security and them simply being partners with us. This person would have to be extremely trustworthy to handle the millions of dollars it will take to get the project done. I guess this is another large problem.. finding someone trustworthy enough to handle millions of dollars...

Again, if you have any ideas send me a PM. Smiley
2080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banned from opening a US bank account for having bitcoin, SSN banned. on: November 16, 2013, 12:36:54 PM
Quote
Veteran entrepreneur Jeremy Allaire, the founder of new Bitcoin company Circle, which has $9 million in funding, told me he does have a bank account but is “contractually obligated” not to say who his bank is.

This hurts, just cause he is a "veteran" doesn't mean he has to be shut off to us. Why not help other people get a bank account. That is a slimy move really just greedy type of stuff. This is why I hate "Veterans" they come into the community and go "I can do that better and with my relationships I can get stuff done". We are a community we should stick together. That stuff really gets me mad.

Did you skip over what I put in bold or do you not understand the term "contractually obligated"?

Not trying to be rude, but it seems it is a misunderstanding.. maybe English is not your first language.
