2121  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chances of $150 again on: November 27, 2013, 08:15:19 AM
^ Even dropping is double digits will be extremely hard. By now, there are too many investors and believers in bitcoin. The more it drops, the more people will just buy it up to hoard more for the rebound.
2122  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] 1 BTC on: November 27, 2013, 07:59:57 AM
I'm interested in this. But can you give more info about this coin? Like which coin it is and the year?

I have a couple dozen reputation on here, available upon request.
2123  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can anyone recommend an exchange to use to buy bitcoins? And not wait a week? on: November 27, 2013, 07:06:25 AM
Since you're in the US, the 3 largest exchanges you can use are mtgox, bitstamp, and btc-e. None are perfect, and in fact they're more or less the same: they all require picture ID and address verification before they can trust you, and this can take a week or more. Then getting money into and out of the exchange will be at least another few days for the banks to process.

Go with localbitcons.com for directly buying and selling BTCs. Not only do you avoid all the verification process and slow $ transfers, the fees are lower as well. I have some BTCs to sell on there, so shoot me a PM if you want do directly exchange a few.

Go with localbitcoins, mate

Physical meetings are a pain but the best way to get it done on balance

You don't even need to meet directly, just do a cash deposit into the sellers account.
2124  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How easy is it for others to rip you off when buying BTC from you using paypal? on: November 27, 2013, 02:42:05 AM
Seriously, why is paypal even still being mentioned? I've been here since 2011, and there are SO MANY scam stories that originate because of paypal. Not only do they not protect you from chargeback, if they find out that you're using them as to transfer from BTC to your bank, then can freeze your account. Worst case they'll ban you. It's against their Terms of Service.

If you need to quickly and easily transfer money, use localbitcoins.com instead. There are options to do it with local cash, online back transfers, or cash deposits. There is even a built in escrow system. Here are all the payment options they list that you can use, and the general risk factor for each:

2125  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC to USD to bank? (US) on: November 26, 2013, 03:04:11 AM
Is it for certain that mtgox can't wire transfer money to US bank accounts anymore, or will your transfer still go through after the 1 month backlog?

Can anyone in the US confirm that they recently did a wire transfer from mtgox and received their money in less than 1 month?
2126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Depressed that I was not an early adopter on: November 25, 2013, 07:19:48 AM
"Early Adopter" is relative. In 2009, bitcoins were less than a penny, and you can mine a couple thousand a day with only a CPU (not even a video card). People that entered in 2011 felt like they missed the train when BTC was at ~$5, and you needed to use the hashing power of multiple video cards to mine. Now, people that just jumped in felt like they missed the train if they buy in at $800/BTC or required to use ASICs mine, but in the future it could shoot up to $6000/BTC. Then those people will feel like the missed the opportunity to buy when it was still $800. This wishful thinking won't do anything.
2127  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Question for those who've successfully cashed out large amounts of BTC on: November 23, 2013, 11:28:24 PM
Why don't you ask your "friend"? He said he helped many people cash out millions, so it would make sense he would tell you if he's really your friend.
2128  Economy / Trading Discussion / understanding mt.gox trading fees on: November 23, 2013, 01:45:18 PM
mt.gox's trading fee is 0.6%. Do they take this fee off the bitcoin, or the fiat? Or both? Here's an example:

I have 100btc and $1,000 in my mtgox account, and currently BTC is worth $50 each. I sell 10 BTC, so after fees, my account will now have 89.94 BTC (fee was 0.06 btc), and $1,497 (fee was $3), basically costing me 0.6% in both btc and USD. Is this correct?
2129  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to get USD out of gox? Dwolla gone on: November 21, 2013, 10:31:32 PM
So typically, how much is a wire transfer? And is mtgox still backlogged for a month or more in withdraw requests?
2130  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we still early adopters? Or did that pass after 2010/2011? on: November 21, 2013, 12:36:26 PM
Bitcoin started in 2009, and it's only 2013. It will be over 100 years until the very last of the 21million coins gets mined. If you look at it that way, BTC is still in its infancy.
2131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: just been released from prison to find out I'm rich on: November 21, 2013, 12:30:01 PM
OP, you only have 670,000 BTC? Pffft, that's nothing. I have 78,000,000 BTC, and I just got out of prison too. Around 11/18 - 11/19, but I can't tell which date for security reasons.
2132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Yes people. It is too late here. I have to leave. And..... on: November 21, 2013, 12:14:56 PM
To answer you as direct as possible, you can trust mt.gox. They won't scam you, although they are not perfect.
2133  Economy / Trading Discussion / How to get USD out of gox? Dwolla gone on: November 20, 2013, 12:48:28 PM
I use to use dwolla exclusively, but now that dwolla is no longer a medium, what other alternatives are there, and how much percentage are their fees?

I've heard of coinbase, but verification is a hassle, and they also seem shady when BTC value are on the rise. I'll only use coinbase if it's the last resort.
2134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bubble just busted on: November 19, 2013, 01:52:34 AM
No, the bubble didn't pop. Just a bunch of panic sells from pussies. It dipped from $900 to below $600, but now you can see it recovering. It's now $800 as I type this, all happening withing less than an hour.
2135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I'm boycotting bitcoins. on: November 19, 2013, 12:43:29 AM
It's inherently classist. Only those with access to moderately high levels of technology can spend or receive it. Only those with access to exceedingly high levels of technology can "mine" it. Heterosexual, middle class or higher white males are disproportionally represented in the demographics of bitcoin users. Bitcoin only serves to uphold the current kyriarchal socioeconomic structures by making sure the privileged become more privileged.

And it's a terrible idea. You spend more on your parents' electricity bill and replacing burnt out GPUs that your parents buy for christmas and birthdays than you actually theoretically make.

Bitcoins are basically just this weird attempt by lolbertarian children to make their own currency and play stock market and dodge taxes.

My goodness, you're dumber than a turd. EVERY point you make is flat out wrong. I'm actually surprised you even know how to type.
2136  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Why the recent difficulty spike? on: September 23, 2012, 10:25:46 PM
I think within a few weeks, difficulty went from somewhere around 2,000,000 to almost 3,000,000 now, and continues to go up. Is this because of BTC value increased to $12/BTC or did a shit ton of mining hardware get purchased? With ASIC right around the corner, I wouldn't think the miner population would pour more money into GPUs or FPGAs. But since ASICs are not released yet, what is causing this rapid difficulty increase?
2137  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are USD Withdrawals From Mt Gox to Dwolla Still Taking Weeks? on: July 26, 2012, 11:37:52 PM
If I'm verified with mtgox and/or dwolla, would it still take weeks to withdraw USD from mtgox to dwolla? This is a problem for the past couple of months, has it been fixed yet?
2138  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Celeron G530 Mining on: July 17, 2012, 09:06:42 AM
This is a low end sandybridge CPU. Right now, no processors are worth the time and resources to mine right now, let alone a low end one.
2139  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] $1000 Amazon Gift Card(s) on: July 09, 2012, 08:19:14 PM
I can probably do it for you. You're not expecting a discount, right? It's just straight $1000 worth of BTC for $1000 of amazon GC? If this is the case, I can either buy the GC with my credit card, or buy it directly from amazon and ship to you. I have prime.
2140  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Hardware Deals thread on: May 13, 2012, 12:08:36 PM
Haven't been updating this, but I just ran into this card and bought one today. Seems like the best ratio of price per mh/s. It's currently OOS, but just order one and they'll only charge you once it comes back in stock and ships. One of the nice features about amazon is that some stuff you can still order even though it's out of stock to reserve one at the sale price. I'll also add this to the first post. Btw, if you didn't already know, the 6670 is the exact rebranded name of the 5670.

Gigabyte HD6670 $50 AR @ amazon
