2121  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: There are no more escrow services? on: July 04, 2018, 12:16:07 AM
You don't have to go with an escrow from any list, but anyone who you have dealt with in the past who you think is reputable, usually at least DT2 green trust for me with multiple sizeable past transactions, and understands the process of escrow (which is simple and most reputable people on the site should know how it works) should be up for the task. I haven't used anyone on any 'list' for escrow in quite some time, but I haven't been scammed since my first few months on Bitcointalk.

If you choose to go down this path and aren't sure who will escrow for you, just message whoever you think fits the profile of a potentially good escrower. Some people don't accept messages from newbies, but it really cannot hurt to ask- asking's extremely underrated these days. Smiley
2122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: why is there no bitcoin casino with sicbo on: July 03, 2018, 11:38:32 PM
FortuneJack does have a live sicbo game that you can try out- it is odd that most Bitcoin casinos don't have sicbo like mentioned above, though, considering it's a pretty standard game for fiat casinos. Linking a site with sicbo should help out a bit more than people explaining why it isn't present at crypto casinos  Wink.

can I use i3-8100 1151 on this board ?

That CPU i3-8100 is currently not on the list of supported CPUs so for now don't count on that.
Maybe after next BIOS update will appear on that list.
The 8100 will never work with this motherboard. The 8th generation processors from Intel require a 300-series motherboard to operate (e.g B360, Z370) because of 'power delivery issues' as stated by Intel. Even though the i3s shouldn't be an issue in that case, they still put in microcode locks on the cpu, etc. to prevent them from working in older boards. There have been somewhat successful attempts to put 8th gen chips in 200 and 100-series motherboards, but they were never very successful and only for some specific boards; anything that is 6th or 7th gen from Intel should work on this board. It's really not worth the effort to get 8th gen chips to work anyhow with possible compatibility and stability issues with multiple GPUs ahead if such a task were to be attempted.
2124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Ethereum Mining Difficulty is Lower Now ? on: July 03, 2018, 08:25:49 AM
Is it because Bitmain stopped mining with their miners and started shipping them out?

Or due to the flood in China?

We basically hit an ATH of difficulty last week.

Pretty sure that flood in China only affected the SHA256 ASICs which are only used to mine Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. However looking at the hashrate charts, it doesn't look like anything too drastic happened.

The difficulty for ETH will keep increasing since people are getting weeded out of mining ZEC due to the ASICs. Many 1080Ti's are going to switch to ETH in the next coming weeks since ZEC is no longer profitable for those GPUs.

Same reason why the XMR difficulty will keep increasing since many of the older AMD Radeon GPUs are switching from ZEC to XMR since the profits are identical but it uses less electricity.
Yep, the damage in Sichuan seems to only be Bitmain SHA ASICs, though I did notice one article about the flooding did show Vega GPUs, but those should have been mining ZEC/XMR. I suspect there may have been E3 ASICs in play as well, but probably not to an extent as big as the S9S and SHA miners, but the damage may have been enough to lower difficulty. I was actually in Chengdu when the flooding happened, and in my area I witnessed some of the heaviest rainfall I've ever seen in my life. Only found out about the flooding damage a day later.

If anything, Bitmain is continuing production of the E3's and difficulty will probably continue to rise on ETH even after shipping out the last batch. They're likely just going to make another batch with similar prices to the last one.
2125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: RollBurst.com - Dice Game for Burst Coin with Low House Edge - FAUCET Available on: July 03, 2018, 05:14:08 AM
The site is actually surprisingly pretty navigable on mobile, though I will say that making the buttons and tabs on the site a bit bigger and the white borders on the left and right side of the site smaller would help out mobile users like myself a lot.

The chat on the site is basically dead from what I can see, almost nobody posts but I do like how you guys try to respond to every inquiry users have in the chat. Last but not least, I think that instead of all the links being at the bottom of the webpage (instructions, affiliates, etc), you could put them at the top of the page with a drop-down list for better navigation.
2126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone here ever purchase ASICs from Miningtore5111 in China Before? on: July 03, 2018, 01:54:25 AM
It could just be that the site decided to send a miner or two (or some sort of monetary bribe) to the owner of AsicMinerValue and they decided to list them at trusted- anyways, I haven't been able to find any information regarding whether or not they're legit as of right now except for this very thread. I wouldn't purchase from this site until someone provides sufficient evidence (pictures of gear with name next to it, invoice, etc) that they've recieved working gear from the site. The French video they put on their site is definitely suspicious to me considering they're supposedly a Chinese vendor.
2127  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: wnp.com scam? on: July 02, 2018, 11:47:40 AM
First thing I see on the site is "Targetted"- a clear grammatical error on the front page of your site is a pretty big red flag as well. If you make mistakes with grammar anywhere, it's least professional on the main page and such a mistake would easily be found if a company invests even a bit into spellchecking. There's grammar mistakes everywhere on the site, even in the URL of some sections-

Quote

Testimonials also have shit grammar, and funnily enough 'coz' in the review from an American person, not to mention that this and another person in their testimonials claims to be from "Tanjeria, United States", which is not an actual town or city. The 3-letter domain is definitely recycled and must've been very expensive to purchase, but the site is a blatant scam.
2128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Preferred crypto betting site ? on: July 02, 2018, 11:16:45 AM
I primarily bet on esports matches, and my main go-tos for doing so are Nitrogensports (low bet volume was an issue in the past, not sure how it is now) and Sportsbet. Withdrawal and deposit times are quick on Nitrogen and I have almost no complaints about the site, and Sportsbet's got a nice and navigable mobile site, which is important for somebody like me who only has access to a phone or tablet most of the time. Sportsbet also accepts a ton of altcoins, which I also like because I usually use alts for quicker confirmation and thus deposit times.
2129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why so many Antminer Z9 Mini for pre-resell on Ebay? on: July 01, 2018, 11:42:13 PM
Yep, I don't ever touch eBay for anything electronics-related or for anything even remotely expensive, especially for selling, because as most of you already know, eBay is buyer-sided and it's easy to get scammed on the site. I've gotten burned twice on some low-priced GPUs a few years back, and I've gotten plenty of definitely-not-as-described items that were a huge PITA to return/refund on the site- some bigger sellers just let me keep the item (e.g a keyboard), but most required me to return whatever I bought, which was a hassle especially on cheaper stuff and in the end it wasn't worth my time to even go to drop off the goods in a collection box. I just try to deal on Bitcointalk for electronics now because escrow and trust seems to work well here with very few exceptions.
2130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will esports gambling be explosive in the future like sports gambling? on: July 01, 2018, 07:56:28 AM
As someone who is fairly involved in the CS:GO scene (participated at several events featured on HLTV.org, etc), I will say that the throwing of matches (intentionally losing for money) does happen, and I see it quite often and quite clearly, but everything is there to make esports gambling as a whole take off. There's already a very large audience for the game (mostly young people), and betting already occurs on a medium-to-large scale for some events and matches.

One point why it won't take off is that there's not many young gamblers because the minimum age is 18 in most jurisdictions is correct, and this is even more true in a game like Counter-Strike, where there was (and is) a sizeable number of young gamblers in the game primarily using means like weapon skins and cryptocurrency as an alternative means to gamble without using fiat payment methods- but this all ended when there was a 7-day trade delay put into place to combat gambling by Valve corporation. This essentially killed gambling through weapon skins (which was and still is a VERY large part of total bets on CS matches), but there have been creative solutions around this; however, they were too little too late and the CS:GO gambling scene was quite damaged by this.

In the end, I'm split about whether or not it'll take off. I'll leave my opinion as maybe and maybe not- I have a somewhat strong feeling esports gambling will stay like what it is now until there's an even larger audience for esports as a whole.
2131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can i mine something with this crappy pc pliz help on: July 01, 2018, 01:05:53 AM
The Portege is pretty crap at cooling in the first place according to this review by Notebookcheck of your Portégé R830- they recorded temps of 90C after stress test benchmarking, and your laptop will probably go near there or even dangerously higher near 100. I wouldn't recommend mining on this at all if you still have a use for the laptop because of this- you could mine with only some cores/threads, but the i5-2410M isn't a great CPU for mining in the first place and you'd be making maybe a few pennies a month after electrical costs.

If you really want to mine and don't need the laptop, I'd do something along the lines of what adaseb is suggesting and sell the laptop, then try to buy the best Radeon GPU you can get, in the 200/300 series. If you truly have very cheap electrical costs, those GPUs should still be able to mine at a profit even during these hard times in mining.
2132  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Will you guys check out my Bitcoin news site and let me know what you think? on: July 01, 2018, 12:42:19 AM
Looking at the site from a mobile perspective, it's clean and navigable, everything I expect from a news site in 2018, but it is a bit plain- the mobile site could use a bit more decoration. The mobile main page's plain white background and narrow separator for the articles makes the site look a bit cheap, but from a functionality standpoint the site works just fine. Things look good once you click on an article, modern and still navigable while not looking empty or plain. For reference, my phone screen resolution is 1080x1920 (no, not a mistake), and the screen size is 5.5 inches.
2133  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM ALERT cryptonbattle.com cryptonhash.com bitcoineasybet.com on: June 29, 2018, 12:09:43 AM
Just doing a quick Google search about Cryptonhash.com, I was able to find a Reddit post about the site being a scam within the first ten results. It even explains how the site scams you:

Quote
1. they ask to deposit 50 usd in bitcoins
2.You can game at any time, you can "win" 2 btc at one "game"
3. When you want to withdraw "earnings" they asked you to deposit 10% of "earnings".
4. If you deposit now you are scammed !!!!!

This Reddit post was made just over a week ago, so it's fresh information about the site. Unfortunately the OP of the post didn't seem to realise there were multiple domains to the site.
2134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: June 28, 2018, 10:40:42 PM
who is buying these coupons, this is a real mystery to me, today I received few 350$ coupons
Putting them up for sale in Goods or Digital Goods seems like the appropriate section for coupon sales- I've noticed the higher amount coupons tend to sell somewhat quickly, should still be the case now. Use escrow as usual for sales.

I'm surprised Bitmain's still keeping the L3+ at its current pricing of $450/$530 considering how useful it is for most people right now- unless coin prices rise, this thing's going into D3 territory for profitability. The 504Mh is currently barely breaking even with electrical costs at $0.10/kWh, and another difficulty adjustment should make this unprofitable to run at $0.10/kWh.
yeah, but if u have 0.04 cents like they have in canada, its still profitable, and u can save ltc and sell them when it hits some 150 etc..
It may still be profitable temporarily for people with such low electrical costs, but evidently most people don't have electrical rates like that (I don't) because of the massive outflow of hash happening right now. The price is also something you can't count on rising in mining; for most people, Scrypt mining is over with the L3+ unless you're looking to do some speculative mining at a loss with LTC or shitcoins like what you're suggesting right now.
2135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer Z9 Mini Should I Buy it? on: June 28, 2018, 01:05:04 PM
The fact that people are already selling below the first batch price of $2000 for in hand Z9 Minis in the Computer Hardware section shows a lot about this miner already- probably not the best idea to get one. It's beyond a gamble right now with Bitmain ASICs- you're just throwing your money away by buying them, especially when there's plenty of negative feedback from miners like the B3, A3, D3; basically every alt miner Bitmain has ever released recently besides the L3+. I don't see why people think 'this time'll be different' on every single new release from Bitmain.
2136  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Do you have the experience of forgetting your bitcoin passwords? on: June 28, 2018, 12:34:15 PM
I always write my passwords down on paper as a backup and keep them in multiple places so I can't just lose the password forever if my house burns down, for example. I also don't keep my funds all in one place- I keep multiple wallets in different forms (hardware, paper, etc.) so I don't lose all my coins in the event of a hack, theft, or natural disasters. My 'main' wallet is multisignature so as to minimize security breaches as well. It's extremely surprising to me when I see people forgetting something as important as their Bitcoin wallet passwords- you are your own bank and you shouldn't cut any corners.
2137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: June 28, 2018, 12:25:44 PM
So where do we get the new figure that there will be 3 new algos for the X10?  On the web site it just says new algos will be added for the X10.  It doesn't say 3.  So was this another tweet I missed or is there some other piece of info out there saying this?  Last I saw they had 2 new algos coming on the web site, now it just says more algos coming.

It's 2, Keccak and Groestl. These use OTP FPGA chips so these algos have always been there but only used privately by Baikal. I'll bet anyone 1 LTC that I'm correct....

They will release them when they feel like it but they're a very greedy company and never think of the community. Worse customer service and warranty out of all of them.

X11 is technically 11 algorithms chained and they are: blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, and echo.   So it seems likely that the miner could do any of those individually.  I would have also thought it could do them each at the same speed as it can do X11 (10Gh/s) at a minimum, but that seems maybe not to be true since it only does skein at 5Gh/s.  I believe you would win that 1 LTC bet if you had any takers.

it's not correct, if that the theory, wouldn't all D3 miner now running groestl?Huh?
There's never been firmware released for the D3 to mine anything other than X11, and the D3's an ASIC (can't be reprogrammed like an FPGA for other algos) that should only be capable of mining X11. Only Baikal has made multi-algorithm miners with their X11 machines AFAIK as well- Pinidea also used FPGAs IIRC but nobody has ever released firmware for any of their devices to mine anything other than X11 either. I imagine the Pinidea machines wouldn't be of much use even if they could be flashed to mine another algorithm as they're extremely obsolete right now.
2138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain E3 Ethash Miner ASIC (Shipping:16-31 July. $800 USD) on: June 28, 2018, 11:48:58 AM
76db noise seem to be very high.
Comparable GPU rigs have less than 60db and it is hot here
The E3 is made to be an industrial miner like nearly every miner Bitmain makes (placed in a datacenter ideally), where noise isn't a concern. If noise is important to you, consider GPU mining. GPU rigs make less noise because the E3's compact and it needs fans that produce high pressure and airflow to cool all the components inside. Bitmain uses their good 'ol loud fans to do that.

Additionally, it seems Bitmain also lists the S9i and A3 as being 76dB now (I assume the rest of their miners all do now besides the Antrouter and Z9); I recall it wasn't at that specific number previously. Still as loud as a vacuum cleaner or more, though.

2140  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Apw3++ Explode repair capacitor on: June 28, 2018, 09:56:24 AM
You're better off moving this thread to the Mining Support or Altcoin Mining section for help with a PSU- this section is about services, but they're typically not mining-related here.

Do NOT replace the blown capacitors with random ones from a laptop charger. That can only cause more harm than good (to your PSU and possibly miner if it's hooked up to one). Following the troubleshooting guide won't do anything because you already know the cause of the PSU not working- you'll need to either replace the capacitors or buy a new PSU.
