1201  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what kind of trading will suit for me? on: March 26, 2019, 04:43:26 PM
Trading bots work just fine if you're willing to put the time into configuring whatever bot you buy. The seller for a trading bot should point you towards some basic configurations and how your bot works. For example, there's a pretty big official wiki for Gunbot (click for link) that should help you learn how to use Gunbot. The detail of documentation varies depending on what bot you buy though, and you'll still need to do experimentation on your part to find what sort of configuration's best for you.
1202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mine on a Dime. on: March 26, 2019, 04:35:26 PM
For the future, CPU power isn't a big factor in mining speed. A CPU like the Core 2 Duo you have is fine for mining, though if you do choose to expand in GPU mining you'll want a newer motherboard that has more PCIe slots so you're able to run more GPUs on a single motherboard and CPU. Any Radeon 400/500 GPU is decent for mining and they should come pretty cheap nowadays as many miners are offloading their cards due to a drop in mining profitability. The R9 300/200 series isn't bad if you've got free electricity, though the older Radeon cards use significantly more power while mining than the newer RX series cards.
1203  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The purpose of using bitcointalk on: March 26, 2019, 04:37:09 AM
I initially solely came here in early 2015 to learn about cryptocurrency and mostly mining, and I'm still here for mining and other cryptocurrency-related discussion to keep up to date with the latest crypto news. This forum's my number one go-to for discussion about crypto services as there's information on just about every one out there here- same goes for mining, there's really no better place than this forum to discuss about mining for both alts and Bitcoin. Signature campaigns are a great bonus and they help out high-quality posters on here.

I used to read quite often in the r/Bitcoin subreddit as well, but the post quality there has indeed declined since the 2017 ATH and I now mostly stick to r/Bitcoinmarkets for TA and a small look at market sentiment too. The daily discussions in the Bitcoinmarkets subreddit are great if you're into trading.
1204  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do youtube "Expert Traders" keep asking money for their "premium tips"? on: March 26, 2019, 04:27:17 AM
No rational person would sell a great, working strategy for just a few hundred dollars as things can get saturated very easily in any field where you can make money, including in trading. Same goes for money-making ebooks that are sold on other forums that I've seen- they're both too good to be true. The tips the YouTubers are selling are also likely not going to provide you with whatever returns claimed. Most of the 'tips' being sold can be found elsewhere for free if you look hard enough as well.
1205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer Z11 equihash miner from Bitmain Released - Antminer S17 PRO 2nd GEN on: March 25, 2019, 03:21:56 PM
Anyone know a reputable place to buy these?
In the US there seems to be a number of Ebay listings for Z11 preorders, though you're going to pay a pretty steep premium through those sellers as they jack up their prices due to import fees and PP/Ebay fees. Ebay provides you with very good buyer protection so there shouldn't be issues with buying on there unless you're buying from someone with 0 feedbacks.

You could also make a WTB post for a Z11 in the Computer Hardware section (click for link) on this forum. Always use escrow while buying and selling here if you choose to go this route.
1206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much time you spend to read forum post ? on: March 25, 2019, 03:14:28 PM
I enjoy both making and reading posts on here. There's very few places elsewhere on the internet with more knowledge on Altcoin and Bitcoin mining than on this very forum, and though I do not post on the Bitcoin mining parts of this forum anymore, this forum helps keep me up-to-date with the most recent miners and other speculation related to mining. Crypto's always growing and expanding in new ways, and you're going to fall behind if you do not read. I find Reddit's better for other non-mining-related information most of the time.
1207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Interesting Strategy on dice featured Gambling on: March 25, 2019, 03:08:07 PM
Only luck matters in the end with games like this and crash. There's scripts and strategies out there on the Internet for sale for both dice and crash out there, and though sellers may claim those scripts and strategies will guarantee you profit, that's untrue in the end as house edge is in play and dice and crash are both purely luck-based games. If you find this to be more fun than simply gambling with a higher amount a few times, then by any means go ahead with your strategies, but you're mathematically guaranteed not to make a profit over the long-term.
1208  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Depositing crypto into BlockFi to earn interest, ok or stupid idea? on: March 25, 2019, 03:00:58 PM
Really depends whether you think the risk-to-reward ratio for this is worth it. Gemini holding the coins is definitely a big plus, but there's still at least some level of risk that the coins could be stolen; if you do choose to invest into this platform, do not invest more than you can afford to lose.

Lending on these forums can be very difficult if you don't have an older account or good trust feedback, but if you've got the time for it, lending with collateral can be very lucrative. Trading can also be profitable if you've got the time and patience to learn about it and practice, though it's not something you can instantly pick up and start earning on day one. You can even make money selling crypto for fiat and buying back into crypto through the Currency Exchange section- there's an uncountable number of ways to make money on this forum. You just have to find them.
1209  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Payment for KYC registration on: March 21, 2019, 11:00:16 PM
Nobody would use Blockchain's wallets anymore if they started requiring KYC to use them as they're not secure at all in the first place and don't have any significant advantages over other wallets besides the fact that their wallets are accessible remotely from most devices. I don't see it getting to that point in the near future but that would absolutely ruin that part of Blockchain's operations, though I did previously theorize that this giveaway requiring KYC might be a step towards them requiring KYC for all users.
1210  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Good currency exchange services on: March 21, 2019, 09:42:15 PM
Paxful (click for link) is extremely simple to use and has decent support in my experience in case things happen to go wrong. You won't need to submit any form of KYC for most BTC transactions depending on what payment method you're using. Generally speaking, you're going to get the best rates with a bank transfer and less with a reversible payment method like PayPal and the least with gift cards. BTC sellers accepting reversible payment methods like PayPal also usually ask for an ID of some type on the site (though there are some with worse rates that do not require an ID), but generally speaking the site is excellent for a mostly anonymous fiat to crypto conversion.

The Currency Exchange section of this forum (click for link) also works as others have mentioned here, though you'll need some reputation if you're trying to buy BTC for a reversible payment method like PayPal.
1211  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: List for people who want to start paying with BTC on: March 21, 2019, 09:11:32 PM
Around 10 years ago they didn't accept any foreign credit cards (not even shipping to an USA address). i'm not sure what would they do if they take bitcoin, maybe some KYC procedure and then deny it solely on your country of origin?
Newegg doesn't ask for KYC for purchases AFAIK from my experiences. Things went as fiat orders do on the site when I paid with BTC, though they do process payments through Bitpay last time I checked and I did have to convert those pesky payment URLs into a regular address and amount. 10 years is a pretty long time though, and considering the site does now offer shipping internationally I would assume they now accept international credit cards.
1212  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Payment for KYC registration on: March 21, 2019, 09:03:18 PM
Blockchain states they're asking for KYC in this airdrop of XLM because they're concerned that people might register multiple accounts in an attempt to get lots of XLM (which seems like a valid concern to me, click for explanation), but I would personally not risk having my information potentially leaked and stolen on the Internet for just $25. Blockchain might not be telling the entire story as to why they're asking for KYC as well. Really up to you in the end, varies on a person-to-person basis I guess.
1213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How many of you are GPU only miners? on: March 21, 2019, 08:58:16 PM
I personally started out with BTC ASICS, got really into them while I had cheaper electrical rates, and branched off to GPU mining. I still do some BTC mining (albeit much less than I used to in terms of electrical consumption) and a bit of GPU mining, though I've really transitioned into trading and buying coins more on the whole as my electrical rates aren't as great as they used to be in the past. I might get back into SHA256 ASICs again in the future if there are any viable lower-power and potentially lower-noise options releasing in the future, or I might consider getting a machine like an S15 or two hosted, but for the most part I've stopped mining.
1214  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can any Kind Soul please give a honest review of signaltrader.io ? on: March 21, 2019, 08:51:34 PM
I've signed up for signal services multiple times early on when I started trading crypto, and they never ended up well. Some (some might say most) signal groups are made simply to pump and dump alts for the owner, and you're not gaining anything by paying for signals. Knowledge is much more valuable than any signal group you could ever pay for, and it's really not worth it in the end considering how much some of these groups cost to join. There are no shortcuts in life; if you want to trade, learn to do it yourself instead of paying someone else to do it.
1215  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: best wallets to use on: March 21, 2019, 08:04:52 PM
Here's the link to the Ledger official store (click here) if anyone's interested in buying any authentic Ledger products here. Link to the Ledger site in OP only leads to the Ledger Live application and doesn't have much information on the wallets that Ledger offers. You will likely find cheaper prices for used and new Ledger units from third-party sellers, but there's an elevated chance a device from a third-party is compromised and you could lose your coins from a compromised device. Even direct from the manufacturer, reset the wallet when you get it- applies to any hardware wallet you might get.
1216  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: FaceIt Subscription on: March 21, 2019, 07:56:01 PM
Most likely a problem with Xsolla. I used Xsolla a few weeks back to pay for my ESEA Main fees and ESEA Premium subscription with Bitcoin (they used Bitpay as a payment processor) and things went just fine, guessing Xsolla removed Bitcoin as a payment method recently. Haven't been able to find anything on their site about this unfortunately. Xsolla's main site is here (click for link), contacting their support might help shine a light on why BTC's not available as a payment method right now. There aren't any third-party services that I know of to buy Faceit subs AFAIK, best alternative for now is a crypto-to-fiat conversion 'till Xsolla adds BTC as a payment method again.
1217  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to get profit from bitmex trade on: March 20, 2019, 08:48:47 PM
I personally use this handy little position calculator (click for link, some extra stuff on the site but just use the calculator) to prevent getting liquidated on Bitmex- it still obviously does happen, but this calculator helps you set up things correctly so risks are lower and you hopefully get stopped out more often than you get liquidated. This Medium post (click for link) provides a bit of a guide as to how to use this tool. Leverage is still pretty difficult to use in the end and if you're new to leveraged trading, I would not suggest putting a lot of money into Bitmex.
1218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to play poker for bitcoin over tor? on: March 20, 2019, 08:11:04 PM
I've used VPNs for most of my crypto casino accounts in the past as well with no problems related to account freezing due to suspicious activity or anything of the sort. Should not be a problem for most people, and with a good casino that doesn't have negative DT rep on these forums or a million scam reports, you should not have any issues with a casino permanently freezing your funds etc. If you ever do experience an issue like this, though, making some noise in the Scam Accusations section and on social media/Reddit when the casino's a bigger and more reputable one generally means you'll get your money back as well.
1219  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CoinMarketCap hit $140B is this the start of the next bullrun? on: March 20, 2019, 08:03:04 PM
Still too early to tell. Most alts are moving up right now with LTC still spearheading the recent bullish movements we've had recently, but BTC could potentially break down from the triangle it's currently in (on the 1D and 3D charts) and cause things to drop right back down to the low $3000s. Short term still looks very good though, I expect an upwards breakout from the 3/1D triangle we are currently in for BTC and LTC has had a 50/200MA cross on the 1D as well.

As for what I'm currently holding, most of my money is in LTC and BTC, with more in BTC than LTC. $30 isn't going to get you very far, but I'd put the money into LTC or BTC and forget about it for a while.
1220  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: List for people who want to start paying with BTC on: March 20, 2019, 07:55:16 PM
Newegg should be listed as primarily for North America IMO- though there are options to ship internationally on the site, these options are pretty limited at the moment (link to countries Newegg ships to). Also note you are only able to purchase from Newegg themselves on the site and you cannot buy items from third-parties with cryptocurrency at this moment.

I live in the USA and I've never had problems with the site otherwise, free shipping from them is via USPS Parcel Select usually and can be a bit slow but things are otherwise reasonable with pricing. I've used them for over $1000 in purchases over the last year, never had any major problems and the site support's very quick to solve any problems you might have.
