1321  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportbets and casino websites that offer no deposit bonus on: February 21, 2019, 01:09:36 AM
There's a few threads in this part of the forum that deal with this; the most recent one I know of is here (click for link to thread). To be fair it's been a few weeks since this thread was last posted on, but my post on the linked thread is still relevant and the free spins are still available on the below sites AFAIK.

FortuneJack offers 25 free spins just for registration from what I can see on the homepage of the site, and BitStarz also offers 180 free spins on registration as well. If you're just interested in playing and/or testing out the games on a casino, some casinos allow you to play via play money or tokens like FortuneJack or Crypto-Games. Good luck!
1322  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptofinancial life SL / mineroo.io on: February 21, 2019, 01:02:57 AM
Seems like a very probable scam from the information you've provided us. Had to go a bit out of my way to do a whois lookup for this io website, but the site seems to have been created sometime in November of 2018. Not a great sign.

Asicminervalue's also known to have scammy sites in their 'trusted vendors' section; I personally do not look at that section of the site at all and I usually buy from places where I have buyer protection or I buy straight from an ASIC manufacturer, but I suspect some scam sites pay Asicminervalue money to be listed there or something of the sort.

1323  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading market trend on: February 20, 2019, 11:16:41 PM
You can always step out of the market temporarily and wait until things settle down a bit more to the point that you're able to trade effectively again using your existing strategies, or test new ones with smaller amounts of money and put more in gradually if you find they work out. I've seen plenty of people step out of this market in the last few months, especially leveraged traders, as there's been plenty of stop hunts and frequent large red and green candles that have been plaguing those with high leverage as of late. Nothing wrong with taking a little break.
1324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OPSkins - Why people are using it? on: February 20, 2019, 11:03:58 PM
I used to use their site for trading CS:GO skins (one of the things that really got me into crypto in the first place), though Valve did force them out of the skin trading game a bit more than a year ago IIRC due to the way they were operating and perhaps partially because of the case system they had going on their site.

These shoes are real, by the way. They are not digital. https://twitter.com/opskinsgo/status/1017154408386265088?lang=en. There's a way to redeem these shoes through the Opskins site, though I have not personally gone through the process of withdrawal. There's also tweets on the Opskins site with people who've recieved the shoes they redeemed on the site. Pretty misleading post IMO.

I personally do own a few pairs of Yeezy and Ultraboost shoes and various pieces of 'hypebeast' apparel, and for the most part the people I know that buy these items mostly buy them to flex on other people (though ironically many of the people that wear expensive clothes that I know aren't in the best financial situations). I used to buy CS:GO skins both for ingame cosmetic use, and I would sell off the skins to sites like Opskins at a slight loss when I got old of 'em. I still have a few hundred dollars in CS:GO skins in my Steam inventory, though it's money I earned from skin betting back when sites like CSGOLounge were still online. Some people have money to spend and value digital cosmetic items, simple demand and supply, though I will say that the shoes for sale on the Opskins site are overpriced compared to another site like Stockx (link here) that also sells hypebeast apparel and shoes, albeit with more volume and better pricing.
1325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does Martingale Work? on: February 20, 2019, 10:06:27 PM
From my experience sometimes it does work sometimes but not enough to get me in profit on the long term. So I wouldn't advise using only this strategy when betting same as I don't recommend using a single strategy for a very long period. At the end from my opinion it all comes down to luck when playing this kind of strategies, especially when you are aiming for big money.
It's not just your opinion. Every strategy in gambling requires at least some amount of luck due to the house edge being in play and sheer luck being against you, especially ones like Martingale, which are mathematically proven to generate a net loss over time. I've seen numerous posts like this over the last few months in this very section of the forum, and the outcome's nearly the same with every test of any method that's based off Martingale- you're going to lose over the medium to long-term.

Gambling isn't meant to be profitable for you in the first place. There's really no way to make money consistently from a digital casino unless a game is fundamentally flawed, which rarely happens and is usually patched very quickly in this digital age.
1326  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance questions: on: February 20, 2019, 09:50:17 PM
Any exchange can potentially be hacked or its funds compromised; you do not control the private keys of an exchange account, so you do not really have control over the coins you have on an exchange. I would suggest to only keep as much as you are actively trading on an exchange, and deposit however much you need as necessary for best security.

Also make sure you're going to the right Binance site. Many scamming/phishing sites now have SSL certificates, and you should always read the URL of any site you're logging into to ensure you're not getting phished. Binance has this sort of warning on login now IIRC but most people get hacked and their accounts compromised through phishing.
1327  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: n26 and crypto exchanges? on: February 20, 2019, 09:46:20 PM
I have not personally used n26 and the site currently does not offer service to those living in the United States, but it seems to me that n26 is okay with crypto exchange wires from this reddit post here (click for link) and this other reddit post (click for link). One commenter specifically mentions transfers with Bitmex going well, though none of the posts specifically mentions how much money was transferred through those wires.
1328  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] $100 BTC for $100 PP balance funds on: February 20, 2019, 11:31:57 AM
This trade is back open with the same terms in the OP; initially had a trade cancelled with adroitful_one. If you need more PP funds than what is currently listed here, message me and I will see what I can do. Locking this thread when a sale is completed next time.
1329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: To overclock or not to overclock, that’s the problem on: February 20, 2019, 02:50:24 AM
Overclocking's just fine so as long as you don't push voltages too far as nc50lc said. Some softwares like Blissz's firmware for the L3+s automatically calibrate to the lowest stable voltage for an overclock, and you can also manually calibrate voltages on software that doesn't do this for best performance. As long as you're running the miner in normal conditions and keeping up with maintenance like occasionally clearing out dust for optimal thermal performance as needed, nothing bad should happen.

1331  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Anyone using Block.io ? on: February 20, 2019, 12:09:31 AM
I personally don't use this wallet, but most of the information I can see about this site through Google seems to be at least one or two years ago, and it seems from what I've seen about this wallet their support's pretty slow. There's better and more reputable alternatives out there for web wallets if that's what you're trying to go for, such as Blockchain.com's web wallet and for a lite desktop wallet, Electrum. Can't really speak about their API since I don't code with Bitcoin and there's not a lot out of info there about this wallet as well.
1332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Roulette - what to bet on? on: February 20, 2019, 12:04:12 AM
Interesting results! Could you please share with us where you got this data from- if you collected this data, where this data was collected if you know, etc? Always good to make sure that a source of information is reputable. I typically don't play roulette much as I find it pretty dull, but I never knew how the odds for this game really were. I've seen basic odds calculated for games like roulette but nothing as detailed as this to date.
1333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scam Bitcointalk Sites Be Safe !!! on: February 19, 2019, 12:04:47 AM
Worst part of the .to site was that the URLs for threads and such were exactly the same IIRC except for the fact that the prefix was bitcointalk. to/index.php instead of bitcointalk. org/index.php there wasn't any significant difference between this site and the fake one on the surface except for the URL.

This is also a good reason to always check the URL of a site before you log into it, whether it's this forum or even an exchange as people have been hacked on exchanges in a similar way as the .to version of this site. 2FA's also good to have on any site like an exchange where money is at risk, though if you're not careful and input your 2FA details into a phishing site, the operator could still hack your account.
1334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are profits so low? on: February 18, 2019, 11:55:44 PM
Making a profit into mining nowadays is impossible because even the numbers of miners subsided but still the level of difficulty is still high and getting a break-even to the costs of mining is so impossible based on the latest rates so it's obvious that mining is a pure investment that needs perseverance.

To those miners that still mining right now would definitely earn their fruits of labor.

Really ain't even perseverance that matters in the end except if you have very, very cheap electrical rates right now. If you're in the red or barely in the green and mining right now, it's a good choice to just sell off your hardware and just buy coins through an exchange or P2P exchange if you don't want to deal with KYC. You can buy through PayPal without verification on a site like LBC or Paxful, but note you'll be paying a fee for doing so. Doesn't make sense to mine anymore for most people, and mining at a loss is just plain stupid no matter how you put it. If you're making just a few pennies a day per card, it's really not worth the cost to maintain the rigs.
1335  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is this the beginning of the arrival of a bull run? on: February 18, 2019, 11:47:31 PM
Seems to me ETH broke some long-term resistance earlier (pic here, logarithmic scale)  and started this short run upwards, we seem to be holding up pretty well on most coins including BTC, though there does seem to be some resistance at or near $4000 (BFX) for BTC as of right now. This could definitely be the beginning of an eventual bull run, but it's still too early to call IMO and we'll have to see if we don't dump straight through where we pumped up soon. I find it pretty impressive we've withstood so many attempted dumps on the way up though. I thought BTC was going to break downwards multiple times in the last few days but it never really did.
1336  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Reliability of Bitcoin mixing sites on: February 16, 2019, 10:55:52 PM
You sort of have to take the site's word for it in the end. Using a more reputable mixer like Chipmixer or Bitblender's going to be your best bet as a less reputable site might be keeping logs without you knowing it, but nobody really knows for sure except the operator whether or not logs are really being kept. You could also try converting BTC to XMR and back to BTC again using a swapping site, though many such sites now require KYC.
1337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Best and Fairest Online Gambling Site on: February 14, 2019, 11:44:17 PM
Unfortunately, I cannot check this site as this site is not yet allowed in my country.

What countries are restricted to use this site?
I've done a bit more research on the site and it seems Bovada.lv's only allowing people in the United States to gamble on their site. Tried going to their site on a Canadian VPN for experimentation and the .lv site prompts me to go to bodog.eu (there's likely some sort of tie between Bodog and Bovada), and in the TOS of the site which I've quoted below, a few US states are restricted from using the sites. I assume the site's mainly being marketed towards the US based on how specific the restricted states are, and I also assume that all countries besides the US are blocked from using the site, though I'm not completely sure.

2.3. Use of the website and associated services are expressly prohibited from the following states: DE, MD, NY, NJ, NV. Any account accessed from a restricted state will have all access rights revoked and any balance contained in the account may be considered void. You are required to notify us immediately should you intend to relocate to or visit a restricted state, your account will then be placed on a temporary hold or permanently closed dependant on the circumstance with any balance available being returned to you. Any attempt on your part to circumvent these restrictions by any means will result in your accounts closure and any balance considered forfeit.
1338  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance questions: on: February 14, 2019, 11:15:53 PM
Also make sure when you're storing backups and private keys to make multiple copies and store them in different places in case things go wrong. Not exactly the best situation when you're trying to recover an account or 2FA backup key and you find the backup's unreadable due to damage or you've simply forgot where you hid it.

As for Google Authenticator, the app's easy to use but it doesn't seem like you can easily backup the codes as Google doesn't let you generate a recovery code easily because they think there's a security risk if a recovery code is shown or something like that. Did some Googling and it seems according to this thread on Stackforums (link here) it's possible to generate recovery codes for GA (albeit with a bit of work as OmegaStarScream mentioned), but you should definitely be using another 2FA application that allows you to generate backup keys more easily. There's also no easy way to migrate from Google Auth to Authy or any other 2FA device either, so if you currently use Google Auth you will need to manually add on the 2FA codes you had earlier to Authy.
1339  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why Is Draftkings The Most Trending Thing Now? on: February 14, 2019, 11:01:05 PM
I usually use DraftKings for fiat betting whenever I'm not betting with the crypto I have as it's a US-based site and the tournaments on the site are usually bustling and bigger than most crypto fantasy sites out on the net currently. DraftKings does block IPs from certain states in the USA due to certain regulations that prevent the site from correctly operating in certain jurisdictions, but it's still one of the biggest fantasy betting names out there and the site's also very intuitive to use. Sucks that they don't accept crypto, but still a great site nevertheless.
1340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Best and Fairest Online Gambling Site on: February 14, 2019, 09:58:49 PM
Wish there was more detail on the minimum wager requirements for the site as most sites have pretty high minimum requirements, and there also doesn't seem to be anything indicating that the site actually accepts Bitcoin deposits or withdrawals in payments section at the bottom of your review which might be confusing for people that don't realize the site actually accepts Bitcoin, though I do see that there are mentions Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals peppered throughout the review. Odd...

Is there anything on the site that prevents you from depositing with fiat and withdrawing in crypto?
