1421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best gambling website to invest into? on: January 22, 2019, 09:57:53 PM
Most skin gambling sites actually aren't in operation anymore since Valve introduced their week or so ban for all traded weapon skins IIRC, I've been looking for a good CS:GO skin-based gambling and betting site for a while but it seems most of them hold your deposit for a week and others allow you to receive funds to gamble instantly. Seems like the number of casinos allowing the latter are increasing in number recently, even though the total number of skin gambling casinos has fallen drastically since Valve's moved to prevent such activity still.
1422  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Opinions on bitdeer please on: January 22, 2019, 09:51:15 PM
Do note if you're going with the free mining plans that Bitdeer's offering right now that you're only able to withdraw 0.01BTC at a time according to this post I found (click here) in this section a day or two ago, so you won't be able to withdraw your earnings from this free contract unless you put more money into Bitdeer (which I assume is the entire point of this promotion).
1423  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lasso Trade - SCAM or NOT? +3% daily on: January 22, 2019, 09:46:09 PM
If you're looking for a potentially more reputable place to make a long-term potential profit on your BTC, storing coins and earning interest on an exchange like Bitmex is always there, though do note there's always the chance that an exchange gets hacked and you might not be fully compensated or compensated at all in the even this happens. There's also the chance that lending rates could be negative, which means you'll lose money over time, though this usually only happens in the short-term and you'll likely make a profit in the long-term through interest.
1424  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have doubt about altcoin on: January 21, 2019, 06:33:31 PM
There's also a general section about altcoins called Altcoin Discussion (click to go here) on this forum if you wish to learn more about alts and potentially invest in one or multiple of 'em. Announcements (Altcoins) (click to go here) is another good section of this forum if you'd like to look at new altcoins that have just been released. I would suggest visiting these parts of the forum after reading what mjglqw posted, however, as that'll give you enough info to comprehend what you'll read in the sections I linked.
1425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will the possible ban on internet gambling in the US affect Bitcoin? on: January 21, 2019, 04:55:18 PM
Thank you for this post! I currently reside in the United States, sucks to see that crypto-based casinos will likely no longer allow US residents to gamble. Most online casinos will likely just stop allowing US IPs to access their site, but a simple VPN's likely enough to bypass this for most sites, and as for crypto prices, I don't really see any major price impact coming up soon. It's true that gambling anonymously is a large part of why many people use crypto, but I believe the number of people using crypto solely for gambling in the US is small enough that prices won't be moved by this.
1426  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bear markets survival on: January 21, 2019, 04:43:37 PM
I've stopped trading for the most part in the last week or so with the erratic price movements that have been going on for the last few days with the barting up and down all over the place to survive this bear market. I'm still doing DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging), though, as I do think the prices we're at are prime for fresh investment. If you do choose to trade in this volatile market, though, make sure you're setting tight stops as prices bounce all over the place every few days.
1427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New casino vs old and trusted one on: January 21, 2019, 04:42:10 PM
Those new gambling sites usually are those people who are a fanatic of the sites youve mention. They study all the flows and the system and change all the flaws to create a new one. They also noted what people most prefered and what they are comfortable with. They study it all very well and came up to that.
New casinos come up with more games that weren't available with the old and trusted casinos. Also with these new casinos the payout and the play process were provided with lots of access. When you consider of the stake.com it has got the access through mobiles. Even without an app it functions in a much precise manner. Trust will be easily generated by these casinos, because a scam can be easily found by the outlook of the gambling websites.
Most casinos, even the older and more trusted ones on this forum such as Fortunejack now support mobile gameplay, so mobile access isn't as advertiseable as it used to be maybe a year or two ago, but your general idea of new casinos having a new good idea every now and then is true. I don't believe people should completely avoid new casinos as this sort of mindset will mean that newer casinos with genuinely good games will never take off, but when gambling on a new casino, make sure you're gambling with an amount you can afford to lose as there are many scams out there nowadays.
1428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been able to resist? on: January 20, 2019, 07:44:40 PM
I've been gambling for nearly as long as I've been in cryptocurrency (starting in late 2014 IIRC), and I've never considered myself to be addicted to gambling in any way, though in one or two instances when I first started gambling I did spend more than I could afford to lose. Gambling's definitely not for everybody, but if you've got good self-control and good mental willpower to gamble, you can always try it out. Becoming addicted to anything at all's much easier than you might think, though, so keep this in mind.
1429  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin balance vs fiat debt? on: January 20, 2019, 07:39:15 PM
I actually did have debt and Bitcoin at the same time back near the ATH and sold off a good portion of my holdings to cover the debt and saved the rest that I had at $17k. I've never had a lot of debt and I believe long-term in everything backing Bitcoin and altcoins alike, but if there comes a time where I do need to pay off a significant debt, I'll sell as many coins as I need to pay off the debt. I do plan pretty well to avoid any potential debts I might get into in the future, though, so I don't anticipate selling to pay anything off anytime soon.
1430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Outside risk: similarities between gambling and trading? on: January 20, 2019, 07:08:57 PM
There's risk in both trading and gambling, but it's definitely possible to make a profit in both gambling and also trading as long as you've figured out a strategy in order to make a profit and you correctly follow it, like using proper risk management in both trading and gambling so you don't lose all your funds on a few highly leveraged trades or a few bets/rolls in dice. There are indeed some games out there that require no skill and are completely luck, however, like dice on a crypto casino- you're guaranteed to lose in the long run under normal operation under most circumstances.
1431  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins seller trying Skrill scam? on: January 20, 2019, 07:03:07 PM
Sales often happen for Localbitcoins accounts, and while a member with higher trades might be more reputable than someone with fewer trades, there's always that risk with Localbitcoins. The gap in trades for the seller you're talking about from December 2018 to January 2019 seems a bit suspicious to me, but at the end of the day it's hard to tell when some people are scamming.

As for disputing the transaction, there's a spot on Skrill's support site (click for direct link) that shows you a way to email and call Skrill for help in the event that you haven't received something you paid for. Should be your best bet for help from Skrill.
1432  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Warning about bitdeer on: January 18, 2019, 09:36:56 PM
Viabtc used to have a market place for hash. I thought they still did. Although it probably caused issues when they were trying to refund people as they'd have paid about 3x what viabtc offered, do they not still have that function? Are you signed in to the cloudmining bit?
I wasn't signed in to the cloudmining part of the site, might be why I can't access it. Trying with the sign-in this time.

Edit: Signed in, still can't see anything in regards to cloudmining. I bet they shut down all of their contracts a while back and stopped offering cloudmining contracts, I saw a tweet with an announcement about their hash marketplace from 2017 here (click to view), but that also gives me a 502 even while signed in to the viabtc site.
1433  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 524 timeout error every time i try to search through the forum on: January 18, 2019, 04:39:59 PM
Additionally, if you're looking for an exact string in a search, adding quotation marks ("Term Here") around your search in conjunction with using site:bitcointalk.org will yield posts and threads on Bitcointalk with the exact string of words you have in the quotation marks. I've had very good results while searching with the quotation mark method, and I haven't ever used the forum's own search tool since I joined this forum- it's always been pretty crappy, and I doubt many people actually use it.

The forum also provides a link to Google search things on Bitcointalk here (click here). I found this link while clicking on the magnifying glass next to the search bar on the forum itself, and it seems to work decently well, though I haven't personally used this before.
1434  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 100 Ways to earn Bitcoin on: January 18, 2019, 04:27:52 PM
Generally speaking, you're better off just saving your fiat currency and exchanging it to BTC through an exchange or a site like Paxful or Localbitcoins, but depending on your living conditions faucets aren't actually that bad. I personally have other things to do for money and don't use faucets, but those in poorer countries might find faucets to be worth using. If you're buying outside of an exchange, chances are you're going to pay a small fee above market prices to purchase BTC, but this is still a better way to acquire BTC than using faucets or anything of the sort.

Blogging's becoming a bit more saturated as time goes on, but if you're good at speaking and writing in English or you're a native English speaker, writing might be worth your time. The pay is pretty decent most of the time, but there are plenty of opportunities out there for writers even on this forum. You just have to find them.
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining altcoin using cellphone on: January 18, 2019, 12:21:22 AM
I assume you're talking about a tablet and not a regular wooden table in your post, but to directly answer your question, you can mine almost any cryptocurrency with a cellphone or tablet- it's just not going to be very fast or worthwhile. If you're looking to mine for profit, however, consider using FPGAs, ASICs or GPUs- they're much more powerful at mining compared to a single mobile ARM processor, and you'll be able to make some money if your electrical rates are low enough.
1436  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Warning about bitdeer on: January 17, 2019, 10:35:36 PM
Good catch! Didn't see this mentioned anywhere to my knowledge in any existing Bitdeer threads, I'm not personally going to invest in their site but this is something good to know for those who are planning on buying a contract with Bitdeer.

Where do you access Viabtc's marketplace for cloud mining? I just tried to look it up on Google and I also looked around on the ViaBTC site, but the only link I came up with was this one that is giving me a 502 error upon visiting the site. I'm definitely interested in their marketplace, however; I recall Hashnest also had a marketplace for hash and that was something significant that set the site apart from other cloudmining services at the time.
1437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bounties still worth it? on: January 17, 2019, 08:44:45 PM
Things are still mostly as they were before, but there are now fewer projects with bounties out there as a result of the bear market I'm sure you know we are in right now. I'm sure there are still good projects out there, but bounties have continued to become more and more saturated and rewards have begun to go lower, but if you're looking for work in bounties, they are still there. Just don't expect to be making as much as you were earning before the bear market started.
1438  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Hodler wallet on: January 17, 2019, 08:35:14 PM
Seems like the wallet has a pretty clean-looking UI, I'm personally a fan of the dark theme that the wallet seems to come with by default. I also use a combination of various cold wallets including Ledger Nano S devices as well as Electrum to store my coins, but I'll consider using this as a hot wallet in the future.
1439  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be A Good Miner on: January 16, 2019, 07:25:57 PM
The GPU mining scene still looks pretty bleak even if you've got free or near-free electrical rates as EIP 1234 eventually becomes active and Ethereum mining rewards start dropping; this is likely going to cause GPU mining as a whole to become much less profitable as miners switch to other chains that will also soon rise in hashpower and difficulty.

If you've got near-free electrical rates and you're also looking into mining some BTC, WhatsMiner currently has a sale on their M3 and M3X (click on either bold word for a link to the Whatsminer store) SHA256 ASICs for $50 and $75 respectively. Both units do use around 1.8-2kW of electricity each and don't have great efficiency, but the price-to-hashrate value of these machines is better than what you can get with other machines currently unless you can work out a deal for S9s or a newer Avalon ASIC.
1440  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can we do 15 - 30$+ per day by trading successfully in these market conditions? on: January 16, 2019, 07:08:42 PM
Absolutely depends how much you're trading every day and how much your starting amount in trading is. $15-30 isn't as difficult to make with a higher starting amount compared to trading with $50; this market's pretty volatile with all of the bart movements going on and large up and down price movements, and so trading's a bit more difficult right now IMO, but it's still possible to make 1-2% daily if you're trading with the correct precautions.
