1441  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be A Good Miner on: January 16, 2019, 02:28:01 AM
You are always better off just buying the coins instead of purchasing mining hardware.
This is almost always true, and for most people, buying crypto and holding the coins or doing some trading is the best option for making money from cryptocurrency, though mining does also have its merits and can be profitable for some people (especially those with cheap electrical rates). Difficulty generally makes mining profitability calculators relatively inaccurate past a month or two, though that doesn't mean a mining calculator is useless.

The Bitcoin mining boards are good places to start if you're looking more into Bitcoin mining, whereas the Altcoin mining board is a good place to start if you're looking to mine coins like ETH and anything that's not Bitcoin. The mods are relatively strict about where your posts and threads are located, so try not to post about altcoin mining in the Bitcoin mining boards and vice versa (though I find the Bitcoin mining board is significantly more moderated than Altcoin mining board).

Mining Speculation's a good board if you're looking to discuss upcoming Bitcoin mining gear or future difficulty adjustments, etc.
1442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can bitcoin be profitable to invest in ? on: January 16, 2019, 12:25:57 AM
As others have already mentioned, make a plan for investing into Bitcoin and stick to it or change it if absolutely necessary, and investing into BTC can definitely be profitable. Dollar cost averaging (DCA) is a pretty good method of putting money into BTC in my experience as you're not entering at one single point but instead buying in at multiple price points so you're not as affected by the volatile price movements in this market we're in right now; if you don't already know what DCA is, you essentially put in a set amount of money into BTC every week or month continuously. Investopedia (click here for link) has a basic outline of DCA as well if you'd like a deeper description of the process.
1443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any valid reason to continue gambling? on: January 16, 2019, 12:22:32 AM
I continue gambling despite making occasional losses (though I'm overall in the green thanks to esports betting) as I set aside a small portion of the crypto I get for gambling that I am okay with losing. The entertainment value's great with all forms of gambling, and as long as one stays responsible with gambling and doesn't risk more than what one can afford to lose, gambling's just fine. I make more than enough to cover what I lose while gambling and more.
1444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $100 to $10,000 challenge on: January 15, 2019, 11:20:47 PM
Interesting thread- haven't seen anything like this in quite some time (though I'm not particularly active on this side of the forums), will keep track of this thread for sure. It's not impossible to make $10,000 from $100 betting, but this challenge certainly does seem pretty challenging to me. Best of luck to you- seems like you're already having good luck though.
1445  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best forum like bitcointalk forum on: January 15, 2019, 09:21:02 PM
The bitcoinmarkets subreddit (click to Old Reddit link) on Reddit isn't exactly a forum, but there's lots of discussion there daily and plenty of people also post their TA there every day or every few days. Most of the discussion is BTC trading oriented, though there is also a daily discussion for altcoin trading. There's obviously some untrue information on the site and you should take all analysis with a grain of salt, but it's an interesting place to browse besides Bitcointalk for sure.
1446  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kashking-Ventures.com Investment? on: January 14, 2019, 09:38:09 PM
Something you may want to avoid doing in the future besides investing into schemes like the one you described in OP is trusting reviews from crypto review sites. Some sites like the one you listed in OP
may potentially be paid to put up a favorable review for a scam site or the website operator may not be doing much research into the reviewed site (seems like the latter here). Reviews from Bitcointalk are usually trustworthy, but watch out for reviews from extremely new accounts or red-trusted accounts. There's been a lot of self-promotion from scammy website owners on Bitcointalk here recently, though most of this self-promotion is done through accounts with one or two posts, which is extremely easy to recognize most of the time.
1447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where we are now with Gambling on: January 14, 2019, 09:30:15 PM
Yup, most people I know in real life also mostly gamble online nowadays with the occasional trip to the local casino, but I don't see online gambling completely replacing physical, land-based casinos anytime soon. There's still some hassle in verifying yourself on some fiat digital casinos and some crypto-based casinos, and gambling IRL is special in its own way. That being said, there's still a lot of improvements that can be made with online casinos, and they're nice and convenient for when you don't want to go out just to gamble.
1448  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Howto] Use Ledger Nano as Security Key on: January 14, 2019, 06:41:42 PM
Thank you for this guide! I received one of my first Ledger Nano S wallets about a bit more than a year ago without knowing what the preinstalled Fido U2F application did; I’ll definitely be using this for Google and Twitter. I never knew hardware wallets could also serve as a form of 2FA as well as storing coins up to this point in time, and this may just make me buy another Ledger or two.  Grin

This may be a bit unrelated, but isn’t U2F also what the Yubikeys use for their version of 2FA? Just remembered those devices while reading through this post. Seems pretty similar to Fido U2F from what I can tell.
1449  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: escrow service on: January 14, 2019, 06:26:23 PM
Openbazaar’s a pretty good option as bl4nkcode mentioned, but the fact that one needs to download software simply to view products on the marketplace means you’ll likely get less traffic as a seller. However you can always sell digital goods and such on this forum as well. If you’re selling on this site and looking for a list of escrowers, this thread works well enough, though in general anyone with green trust or a long history of confirmed trades works as an escrower as well.
1450  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why BTC to Under 1K$ soon on: January 13, 2019, 11:49:33 PM
I really don't even see Bakkt impacting the price of BTC much regardless of whether or not it's approved or not, seems like many people here and on other forums are overhyping the entire event. I don't see $1k BTC happening in the near future either but rather mostly sideways movement in the short-to-mid term for BTC, but I could always be wrong.
1451  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ccg mining on: January 12, 2019, 09:15:27 PM
Cloudmining's never a good choice as an investment in the first place, and you're much better off buying coins or mining yourself (the former is actually much better in my experience). I enjoy mining and I still mine as a hobby, but I've always made more from buying coins compared to mining from the moment I got into BTC.

The only thing I was able to find regarding CCG Mining was the thread cissrawk linked, and though the site doesn't seem to offer too-good-to-be-true rates or prices, I still wouldn't purchase anything  just due to the fact that there's very little information on the site as a whole. Bitdeer also offers cloudmining contracts and they're most likely legitimate, but the risk in their contracts is still very high compared to the low potential reward and not worth the purchase IMO.
1452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: MoonOnion - Deeponion dedicated gambling site. on: January 12, 2019, 08:27:12 PM
The site seems pretty barren and could most definitely use some more games in the future (coinflip seems pretty unused at the moment to me), but I do also have another suggestion that I often don't see added on most newer gambling sites: having changeable themes (e.g from the default theme to a solid black background or darker version of the background, etc). I'm not a big fan of the background theme of the site and I also like to use sites that have a darker theme as well. Having some level of customizeability would be nice.
1453  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Short now = make lots of money? on: January 12, 2019, 03:12:54 PM
It's absolutely not as simple as shorting every bounce or upwards movement anymore- I did see comments like this on a Bitcoin trading subreddit a few months back, but with the many "lightsaber-like" (example here (click here)) patterns coming up on the 1- and 5-minute graphs on exchanges like Bitfinex and Bitmex that are designed to weed out leveraged traders on both longs and shorts, it's easy to lose your money on a leveraged long or short. That doesn't mean it's not possible to make a profit shorting anymore, but you should take caution in your trades more than ever now.
1454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What? Where? How? on: January 12, 2019, 03:05:49 PM
There's nothing out there like what you just described on any crypto casino that I know of; as mentioned above, the closest you can get is going to be a faucet and most times the withdrawal requirements are so high it's nearly impossible to reach unless you hit a massive multiplier on a game. The odds for winning will be the same as with any other sort of betting though.

Free spins are also becoming a pretty common occurrence on many casinos like FortuneJack where you can get free spins just for signing up or as a bonus on a deposit.
1455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people but bigger bets in sports compared to other type of gambling? on: January 12, 2019, 02:45:42 AM
I like to think that there's more skill involved in a betting in sports and esports compared to a game like dice as well, which is a big contributor to why I personally bet more than other types of gambling like dice or blackjack. I've had greater successes in sports betting compared to playing a game like dice or slots too, though there's still no guarantee you'll make a profit in betting. I started gambling mostly off of esports betting in the first place, though, so that may have a part in why I enjoy sports betting so much too.
1456  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Headvpn.com - DO NOT USE! on: January 12, 2019, 12:53:03 AM
There's even a thread on Bitcointalk regarding the sales of Headvpn on this thread (click here). I also found another thread regarding the sales of the site on another forum called Lowendtalk (click here) through a bit of Googling so you guys don't have to- there's some pretty interesting discussion on the business itself with the Lowendtalk thread. I sure won't touch this personally.

Didn't find any link to the actual site anywhere in this link, so if you're too lazy to actually Google the site and find a link to it, here it is (click here).

Wish the beta for this game was public so other people could actually try out the game, but it does look pretty neat from a beginner's perspective- everything's neat, navigable, and well organized, and the game doesn't seem too demanding for a browser game. Do you have any sort of approximation for when this game will be released to the public?

The links are in the description of the video, but I guess I could've posted here too  Smiley

The beta primarily consisted of the Halo community, it ends today unfortunately but I think the game is very close to completion. If I was to guess I would guess in the next 2 weeks for sure. The team did a great job with the game and had ease of use and UX in mind when building it. I wanted to add that the team that built this is an offset of the Halo team so they are building games that will work seamlessly with the Halo blockchain.
I just realized that my comment could've had some negative connotations upon re-reading, so I apologize if this came across in my post; I was referencing the laziness to readers of the thread.

Interesting that this game could fit in with the entire Halo blockchain; I wasn't aware that Halo was coming up with multiple games in the future. Have you received any sort of beta to Draggin' Dragons as well? I noticed this on the Block and Chain site, dunno if this is going to released close to Blockfight or not. I'll definitely try out both games when they're released nevertheless. Never hurts to have more variety in crypto gambling.
1458  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie in crypto trading on: January 12, 2019, 12:39:19 AM
If you're brand-new to trading, I'd suggest holding a large portion of your crypto portfolio (or all of it) for long-term holding (don't touch the coins at all for some time, don't sell on a sudden dip, etc) and using a smaller portion of your portfolio for when you're learning how to trade through reading instructional guides that you can find on this forum and elsewhere on the web. You're naturally going to lose some money trading at first, so make sure whatever money you're setting aside for trading you can afford to lose. Holding's easier than trading for most people, but it's also important that you don't panic sell or panic buy. This does take some discipline, but it's still simpler than trading.
1459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: First fully-licensed and provably fair online casino - EOSBet on: January 12, 2019, 12:28:12 AM
What are you referencing in your OP by the "EOSBet CPU-Free betting platform"? I understand everything in the OP except for this line; it'd be great if you could clarify this as I'm not particularly active in EOS. The dividends you're offering on this site do seem interesting, though, but there doesn't seem to be much documentation about this on your site and the page for the dividends seems pretty bare. Do you plan on adding more to this page in the future?
