2161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM Darkcoin instamine 2 millions DRKs (50% of darkcoin in circulation) on: June 08, 2014, 06:47:15 AM
I see the price has been slowly declining this week and will continue to do so as people sell off and move into NXT, XC or monero

XC declined in price the past week; the other two rose but then sold off.
Not convinced the proceeds from DRK sales were going into other altcoins but WDIK?

Maybe not so much in XC, but XC has alot of potential and all the FUD about it from the DRK community is to blam for its drop, no doubt people have been buying it while its cheap.

700% price increase on CMC!
Whats happened?
Have the devs introduced some major changes?

I hold 2 million!  Grin

I find it remarkable that NEM, compared to other coins, has essentially been free of FUD so far.

I havnt read so much FUD, most negatives are about distribution makes no difference compared to NXT, and about what benefits will there be that we dont already have.

I agree...LTC is going up soon and probably faster than most people will be ready for.

But why would LTC go up...  what good is it for?

I could imagine a lot of rich scrypt asic investors trying to pump it up so they get better roi for their newly purchased asic farms but is there anything else?

I quite agree!
LTC offers absolutely nothing new to the table!

ASIC farms will mine the hell out of that coin first, since it will be the most profitable, you may see a quick price spike, and then it will fall rapidly as the coins all get dumped at exchanges.
NXT will be a comfortable 2nd position before long and we will see more growth with XC, along with alot of other coins competiting for the 3rd spot.
DRK had its moment in history as #3, now its on a slippery slope back down into a void where it will be forgotten about forever.

Things are looking pretty exciting with this coin HODL!

Why on earth is this coin still listed on the exchanges?HuhHuh?
2168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Silkcoin surpass Blackcoin? on: June 07, 2014, 06:00:52 AM
You think silkcoin is better than blackcoin because it has a better looking wallet.
 Shocked

Silkcoins wallet is fantastic but i wouldn't invest in any coin because of the wallet...

What I invest in is innovation that fills a need in the market, silkcoin has this. Silkcoin will be introducing the "eco-system", the eco-system will contain a p2p social network owned by all of us; i.e. a competitor to facebook and twitter, it will be introducing a decentralized exchange where we can trade our bitcoins for silkcoins without using a centralized exchange, a marketplace(STILL AN UNKNOWN) where people can sell & buy goods and services(no need for ebay and no restrictions on what we are allowed to sell), a p2p file sharing network and a a lot of other features that we haven't even thought of yet. Remember this eco-system is completely censorship free, it will be a free zone of the internet and silkcoin will be the main currency here. This eco-system uses the silkcoin blockchain to operate.

Silkcoin will be one of the first crypto-currencies to have an alias system, where we can now send coins to actual names instead of using long addresses.

Marketcap is currently $350k, it has a lot of room for growth considering what altcoins are ahead of it currently. It really is a no brainier.

Can anyone tell what they have against silkcoin I would really love to know why you think silkcoin is not worth your time.

Cheers.

The wallet design is not a big deal for me, however i commend any developers who have redesigned the wallet, since 99% of coins have the same looking wallet as bitcoin, and i think that makes it look cheap.
Worldcoin and Megacoin are a couple of other coins that come to mind with a different wallet.

But yes, innovation is the single most important factor for any currency, the silkcoin devs have done a damn good job, and no i dont think the name suggests anything illegal, the silk road is a term used for ancient trade routes, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_Road
and the promoters are using this as a modern implementation of trading, so i think it fits well.

wow please stop spamming other coins' threads. where's the honor in that?

I'm pretty sure he is hinting at suggesting to the silkcoin devs that they should consider using honorcoin as an option for promoting the silkcoin as being anon. They can do this without taking resources away from pirority development. that is if this turns out to be worthwhile(honorcoin anon airdrop).

Quote
Silkcoins are generated via two different ways.
1. Mining: this is when your computer or machine generate "Proof of Work" (POW) blocks similar to Bitcoin.
2. Staking: this is when the coins in your wallet generate "Proof of Stake" (POS) blocks.

Let me explain "Proof Of Stake" in more detail:

Your coins have what we call coin-age.
They start gaining age if they stay in your wallet for 12 hours. Your stake weight is the accumulated age of the coins you have.
Before those 12 hours, coins don't get age so you won't be able to hit a Stake Block.
Your coins always gain coin-age even if your wallet is closed, but to hit a Stake Block you need to have your wallet open.
To see how much time is needed to hit a Stake Block just hover your cursor over the lightning icon in the wallet: it will tell you the expected time.
But beware, like POW blocks, the chance of hitting a POS block is a bit random so expected time may be lower or higher.

This is when your coin-age is important. The more accumulated coin-age you have, the higher the chance of hitting a Stake Block.
Once you hit this block and gain interest, coins that have been used have their coin-age reset: they are moved to "stake" and blocked (you can't use them) for 350 blocks.

Interest is fixed at 2% per year, but since coins start gaining age 12 hours after creation, with compound interest this percentage turns out to be much higher.

Some options available to handle day to day staking:

In settings->options you can set Reserve balance (it's the amount you don't want to stake)
In settings->options->display you can tick coin control, so you can control which coin you send (don't send old coins)
If you encrypted your wallet, you can unlock it in settings. There is an option to unlock only for the purpose of staking.

Nice contribution. Easier to read for me.

13 on mintpal its moving up fast

Could be a very good option indeed, but what about Zerocoin?
How do the two compare?
From what the Devs have stated, they are working on implementing zerocoin for silkcoin very soon.
I think Blackcoin is doing the same thing.

I think anyone is very foolish holding onto darkcoin long term, its bubble is about to burst once the majority of coins have anonymity implemented. X11 is the only other thing that makes it special.

XC and Monero both do a batter job than darkcoin hands down.

It it likely to fall in price again once the next POW stage starts?
As its probably a good time to sell and then buy again when it drops? I wish i did this when it reached 2 cents!

Hindsights a bitch. I hate falling a sleep and dwelling over all my bad trades.. gah.  I just need to remember sell the hype buy the fear

lol i know, i could have made alot by riding the waves with this coin, but ive lost out by doing so with other coins, so i think i will hold tight on this one.
It may rise in price with the next POW, who knows!

Whats happened to this coin?
We are only just above flappycoin on CMC!  Undecided

I believe the devs are hard at work behind the scenes. Look what happened to VRC. it was trading at 650 just 4 days ago now its at 12k because the devs released updates. XSI has an awesome dev team, just a little bit of patience!

Thanks for the support!  We are doing lots of work behind the scenes.

Thats all good, im sure you are doing a good job, i think i may buy some more at this price!
I think investors are probably being distracted with some of the lager markets at present.
2173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: June 06, 2014, 01:27:58 AM
Any ideas on what NEM will be trading at once alpha launches?

Still on the NXT AE.

Alpha coins will not be real.
Beta coins will neither.

Only launch coins will be real and will be most likely first traded on dgex, poloniex or bittrex.

I thought the coins would be real on alpha?

No, and honestly, why would you want them to be real in alpha stage? The client will have major bugs in this phase, that is why it is called alpha release!

I'm slightly confused...

Utopian said they're fake:

Testnest use test coins. Monopoly money which will be destroyed when we move to the mainnet.

Gimre said they're real:

alpha testnet, beta - most likely REAL thing

Whut..?

Exactly why im confused now.
Ive sold my NEM stake until i know for sure.

All i know is NXT has testnet running alongside the real thing so i would have assumed both are seperate.

Well tons of coins were launched in alpha and beta, including darkcoin, bitcoin etc.
Other people have said it will be the real thing. IDK

I just bought a NEM stake last night, hope this goes well!
Currently dropped from 100k nxt to 15k nxt, you will see 15k nxt to 3k nxt.

Are you saying i will be able to get one for 3K of NXT?

he has no idea what he is talking about. I would bet that NEM will not go lower than 7500 NXT on the AE.

I paid 15K for my stake, but they are back to around 17K.

If there is any chance it could go down, perhaps i should sell it and buy back if they drop?

Did you buy it to speculate on the price or did you buy it to participate in the NEM project?

Bit of both, i dont want to keep all my eggs in one basket, and my long term goal is to use it go gain more NXT, i feel that NXT and NEM have alot in common and i feel that both communites should be able to work together to benefit both parties, i want to hang on to them for a little while, and then sell some of them off for NXT.

Ive been told by other members that it will make a good return so i took the risk.
