2161  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Double spending within ten minutes on: August 02, 2015, 07:28:54 AM
Unconfirmed transactions are relayed to everyone on the network. That's how miners get them in the first place. The jewellery store will normally see his original transaction within seconds, and will reject Larry's double spend unless he runs very fast. Bonus points for wiring the point-of-sale terminal to trigger the silent alarm and lock the doors when a double-spend attempt is detected.

While there is always a risk of double-spends against unconfirmed transactions, the chance of success is so low, and the risk of being caught is so high, that in practice it should not be a problem.
2162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Reindexing After Windows 10 Crash on: August 02, 2015, 06:00:49 AM
It is normal if the block index got corrupted. This can be prevented by the operating system using a journaling file system, which it seems Microsoft still hasn't gotten right. There's really nothing you can do about it other than to use a less unreliable operating system.
2163  Economy / Economics / Re: Are recessions good for the economy? on: July 29, 2015, 04:30:53 AM
A recession is a symptom of the economy doing poorly. It makes just as much sense to ask "is sneezing good for your health?"
2164  Economy / Economics / Re: Gresham's Law Applied To Bitcoin on: July 28, 2015, 02:59:45 AM
Gresham's Law states that "Bad money drives out Good".
False. It states "bad money drives out good when the exchange rate is fixed by law". When the exchange rate floats, as is the case with Bitcoin, bad money simply drops in value relative to good money. With a floating exchange rate, there is absolutely no reason why a person shouldn't spend whatever currency they please and exchange it for other currencies as necessary.

Aw. Got your itty bitty feewings huwt.
Not at all. I just got tired of trying to convince you that consuming disinfectant will accomplish nothing other than to save your mortician the trouble of embalming your corpse. Maybe he'll even give your survivors a discount.

Don't worry about my feelings, though. I think if you're stupid enough to try this despite my warnings, then you deserve to die. I will not miss you.
2166  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best-Kept Secret of the Medical Industry on: July 22, 2015, 10:46:56 AM
Isn't it about time you stopped your fear tactics?
Fine, whatever. Go eat pool chlorine and wash it down with bleach if you want to. See if I care. It's your funeral (probably literally). Hopefully nobody else is stupid enough to follow you.
2167  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best-Kept Secret of the Medical Industry on: July 22, 2015, 06:55:16 AM
When you say "it," what are you talking about.
Calcium hypochlorite. You know, the salt you were talking about your post, and listed on the warning label I was quoting?

It doesn't make sense to say:
1. Hypochlorous acid is one of the body's greatest pathogen fighters.
2. Don't enhance the body's pathogen fighting ability by adding a little more hypochlorus acid to the body, because hypochlorous acid is poison.
I told you how it makes sense in my first reply. Hypochlorous acid kills germs because it kills everything. It is not normally present in the body; as you point it, it is produced on demand by neutrophils to attack pathogens. It will kill the body's own cells just as readily, which is why autoimmune disease is a thing. "Adding a little more hypochlorous acid to the body" will cause injury or death, and the generic term for substances which cause injury or death is "poison".

Looking at your site that you listed above, we see that the substance listed was sodium chlorite, not calcium hypochlorite or hypochlorous acid. Sounds like you are somewhat mistaken, or else you are disseminating disinformation intentionally.
No, that's the old formula, which killed people in the past. I'm talking about the new formula, which kill people in the future.

BTW, I have been ingesting chlorine dioxide on a regular basis for at least two years, now. It seems to have enhanced my health.
Impossible. Chlorine dioxide is a gas at room temperature. Unless you've been living in Antarctica, I doubt you ingested much of it.

After all, if you are simply not too lazy to type out whatever the thing is that you are talking about when you use the word "it," then you are intentionally attempting to confuse the issue.
I'm Foxpup is sorry if your BADecker's inability to understand pronouns confuses you BADecker. I'll Foxpup will try to use simpler language for you BADecker in future.
2168  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best-Kept Secret of the Medical Industry on: July 22, 2015, 03:11:10 AM
Did you notice the way that you showed us that there is warning? You did it in the same way that the medical and the FDA does. You attempted to focus our attention on the warning, without showing us the benefits, thereby attempting to hide the benefits of hypochlorous acid from us, just like the medical does.
What are you talking about? It shows the benefits quite clearly: it "chlorinates, shocks and kills algae" and is "good for all pool surfaces". Not so good for making drinks.

There is even at least one company that is trying to incorporate it into their products as medicine, even though hypochlorous acid and its properties have been known about for more than 100 years.
Miracle Mineral Solution? That's the same company that was forced to stop selling their original formula because it seriously injured literally every person who tried it, several of whom died, which I warned about in another thread. It's not entirely clear to me why the people involved aren't in jail.

The medical seems to be ignoring this substance, hypochlorous acid.
They most certainly are not ignoring it. It is a widely used industrial chemical and accidental exposure is not uncommon. Your local poison control centre can tell you all about it.

I would rather have clear, honest information.
Here's some clear, honest information: IF YOU DRINK POISON, YOU WILL GET SICK AND PROBABLY DIE. Anyone who ignores this advice deserves a Darwin Award.

2169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Multiple output transaction, unknown recipient on: July 21, 2015, 11:44:43 AM
That's your change.
2170  Other / Meta / Re: What's going on with Mods? on: July 21, 2015, 10:03:54 AM
I've had a few silly posts deleted resently.
Yes, the moderators resent your silly posts. So do I, for that matter, and I thank the mods for deleting them.

I posted +1.....and I just see now it was deleted,
The mods resent useless and insubstantial posts even more than silly ones.

What wrong with mods? have the mods been hacked? Or are they all drunk?
They think your posts are resentable. They have not been hacked, and they only got drunk (if they did) to see if your posts make more sense that way (which they don't, BTW).
2171  Other / New forum software / Better ignore list management on: July 21, 2015, 08:43:23 AM
Due to sig spammers blowing out my ignore list to ridiculous proportions (1,253 users and rising), the new forum needs ways to make extremely large ignore lists a little less unmanageable. A search feature would be indispensable, along with being able to add or remove multiple users without displaying the whole list, since loading my entire ignore list takes absolutely forever. The ability to add reminders of why I ignored a particular user would also be useful.

Also, will the new forum bring back ignore button highlighting?
2172  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best-Kept Secret of the Medical Industry on: July 21, 2015, 04:19:47 AM
No warnings, no regulations, and, oops, forgot to wait for a while.
No warnings? What's this, then?

"Highly corrosive. Causes skin and eye damage. May be fatal if swallowed.
Read all precautionary statements on back label and first aid statements before use.
"

"IF SWALLOWED: Call a poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have person sip a glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by a poison control center or doctor. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person."

Yup, perfectly safe. Roll Eyes
2173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real World Scenario - Question on: July 21, 2015, 03:54:29 AM
Ok, so I use cash in my wallet but I don't like to keep a lot in there, usually just under $100 or so. I transfer cash weekly to my wallet to top it up.

I keep my safe at home and that is where I keep the rest of my funds (some $50,000 worth of cash). Anyway, it doesn't matter if it's in my safe or under my mattress the point is it's at home.

So one day I see something epic but they want $220 of cash. They don't take any other form of credit.

I can't just go home as it's a 2 hour round trip and by that time the store will be closed.
FTFY. Just tell the store to hold the item for you until tomorrow and come back with more money. Is that so hard?
2174  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best-Kept Secret of the Medical Industry on: July 21, 2015, 03:34:14 AM
Man, what the fuck is wrong with people? First hydrogen peroxide, then chlorine dioxide, now this? Yes, disinfectant will kill germs. No, drinking disinfectant will not kill germs inside your body. Instead it will kill you. Calcium hypochlorite is not "safe", it is fucking poisonous. That's why you get sick if you drink a lot of pool water, and if you drink it in a more concentrated form, you die. Are people completely fucking retarded?
2175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin - How am I going to pay? on: July 18, 2015, 01:24:45 PM
Which wallet should I use then, could you please recommend one? I want to make it as frictionless as possible.
MultiBit and Electrum both support opening Bitcoin links.
2176  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex took my bitcoins on: July 18, 2015, 01:15:12 PM
Fox pup - I thank you for your answer - and I see and and respect your opinion. But looking at your background, I think you are not a fox pup in the bitcoin community - but an old fox. You probably know everything about the subject and i am sure you will never make a stupid mistake like us novices did.  From your point of view, somebody that does something that negligent, should pay for his mistake and for his ignorance.
Oh, I've made stupid mistakes, believe me. And I've paid for them. You should be grateful yours only cost you BTC15. I've got a long way to go before I'm truly an "old fox". But that's another story.

Bitcoin is not a soft currency. It is a hard currency, like cash. There is no way to block or reverse transactions and it is entirely the sender's responsibility to ensure transactions are made correctly. The situation is exactly analogous to you sending cash in an envelope to the wrong address, even after the company has repeatedly given you the correct address. They can't give you your money back because they don't have your money and can't get it. Bitfinex has taken reasonable steps to ensure you have the correct addresses, so it's your responsibility at this point.
2177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin - How am I going to pay? on: July 18, 2015, 03:38:25 AM
You can view a demonstration BitPay order page here: bitpay.com/demos
This should give you an idea of what to expect.

don't expect it to conveniently open your bitcoin wallet for you and complete the transaction;
For clarification, the reason you should not expect this is because Hive currently doesn't support this feature. Otherwise, clicking the "Pay with Bitcoin" on the BitPay invoice would indeed open your wallet's send dialog with all the details filled out correctly, at which point all you generally need to do is enter your passphrase to authorise the payment.
2178  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex took my bitcoins on: July 18, 2015, 02:49:17 AM
1. Not if they told you beforehand that it's not their address anymore...
2. ...which they did. At least twice.
3. Because a company being hacked is bad news, and they risk losing customers as a result, so they're not going to publicly announce that fact unless it was actually true.
4. No.
5. You can sue them, which will force them to explain how it's all your fault. They took all reasonable measures to prevent you from sending your money to the hacked address, but you (or your employee who you're responsible for training) did it anyway. That's your fault, so you will almost certainly lose if you take the matter to court.
2179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Most of Atheists knows that the God exist more than we do - Shocking truth! on: July 16, 2015, 11:56:15 AM
You're right. Most atheists do know God exists more than you do. After all, you're a thief and a scammer, while most atheists are not. We're angry at God for failing so miserably at getting His so-called followers to behave ethically.
2180  Other / Politics & Society / Re: To you Mr Atheist - Do you believe i have a friend called hatim ? on: July 16, 2015, 10:25:25 AM
So You will believe,  ("Why not")  , than Why Not God ?
I just told you exactly why not. As unlikely as it is that a person making a clichéd argument about the existence of god on an Internet forum would have a least one friend, the concept is at least self-consistent and is not logically or physically impossible, and hence is believable (albeit with some difficulty). The notion that the universe was created by an omnipotent God is another matter altogether, and in any case has nothing in common with belief in a random forum-user's friend, so it isn't a valid comparison in the first place.
