2165  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A new design suggestion: Pegged exchange rate of BTC on: August 04, 2011, 01:59:33 PM
the exchange price of a bitcoin. is defined by supply and demand.
it can therefor not be pegged to anything.
example:
you do make a fixed-price exchange. where one can buy 1btc for 10usd.
now if the price on another exchange goes to 13usd per btc.
people will put alot of usd into your exchange, and you will run dry of btc(and your peg is GONE)

sorry mate.
2166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty on: August 04, 2011, 10:23:07 AM

2168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining at a loss: Insurmountable Problem in the near future or am I mistaken? on: August 03, 2011, 08:04:44 PM
mining shall not be profitable!

it should run at 0-cost and 0-profit.

just earning enough to keep your rig going.

when mining is profitable(the price goes up or the difficulty goes down), more miners will come and make mining unprofitable.
when mining is unprofitable(the price goes down or the difficulty goes up), miners will leave and make mining profitable.

its simple supply and demand.

stop crying about it.

Your an idiot, that is all..
no you are. if you refuses to see the power of the market you are dumb.
2169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 4hrs (now 5) and still unconfirmed? on: August 03, 2011, 08:02:12 PM
That won't help until the TX is 'posted' into a block, which hasn't happened yet.

It seems that most pools solving blocks basically ignore most low-priority TX's (i.e. no-fee transactions) at this point.  Which is why there's so many unconfirmed transactions lately.

Cheers,
Kermee

Yes, whenever I suspect something is fishy I restart, rescan if it seems necessary, then even force various -addnodes to finally see if I can get confirmations and blocks to update in a more "rational" manner.  None of this had any effect today, hence I hit the boards here.

is there a way to have Deepbit pay 0.01 BTC transaction fee when auto-payment triggers?  I'm fine paying that especially if it helps alleviate this horrible lag spike in my daily quota / payment.  My little payment is now stuck way down the low priority queue.  ;-(
the low priority queue will be gone tomorrow. Smiley just chill and wait
2170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 4hrs and still unconfirmed? on: August 03, 2011, 07:03:18 PM
chill and wait. it is going though, some time in the future.

Really?  I've NEVER seen it take this long.  I'm up to 5 hours now and still 0/unconfirmed.
really.
2171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 4hrs and still unconfirmed? on: August 03, 2011, 06:23:07 PM
chill and wait. it is going though, some time in the future.
2172  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: When will miners stop mining with the price keep dropping? on: August 03, 2011, 05:49:26 PM
why is the price tanking ?!?! ...is it because all the early adopters have now made their money and
pulled out, leaving the rest of us with an essentially worthless, useless idea for a currency ?! lol
no its because noob are panic selling
2173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Silk road on: August 03, 2011, 05:28:45 PM
tbh, I don't even know where SilkRoad is, but I know what it's used for.Locked It really shouldn't be discussed.
no it should be discussed. we should teach new users about what silkroad, and how it effects the bitcoin community.
the way with just hiding it is not going to help any one.

users of the bitcoin community should be against silkroad, because it gives bitcoin a bad repuration.
but it is not a good idea to just lock topics about slikroad, it is far more better to discuss it openly.

thanks for unlocking the topic. Smiley

2178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bug Policy --- Admins need to enforce this on: August 03, 2011, 04:01:03 PM
No, I'm calling you an asshole because you've made an asshole move.

"If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."
are you an asshole too then?
non-asshole are not insulting people.

What are you, 12?

You don't publicly reveal the inner workings of a bug you find without privately letting the developers know first. All this does is give those that have no morals the chance to exploit it. Is this really that hard to grasp?

You made an asshole move. Learn and move on.
no its not hard to grasp.

i could ask you the same question, is it really that hard to grasp that, i do what i do?
2179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Silk road on: August 03, 2011, 03:58:33 PM
there is nothing hush hush about silk road.
i don't know if they are down, and i don't care.
Really?  It seems like a lot of people in the community feel that the reputation of silk road gives the community a bad name.
yes. i do also think that, but there is still no hush hush about it.
silkroad is slikroad
bitcoin is bitcoin

if journalists can't keep them separate, it not the community's fault.
hell! the us dollar is also used for buying drugs.
2180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bug Policy --- Admins need to enforce this on: August 03, 2011, 03:56:07 PM
