2161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin, ETH, and XRP To Become Mainstream By 2024? on: May 23, 2019, 05:20:48 AM
How plausible do you think this is? https://tipestry.com/topics/5cdf21bef8abf15fcdee649a/sneak-peek-2024-is-absolutely-the-year-bitcoin-becomes-mainstream
I would think we would become mainstream by 2021 or 2022. By mainstream, I don't mean 100% adoption or the extinction of the dollar. What I mean is, Bitcoin being used more and known by consumers.
Bitcoin will be very difficult to change this world and the application in daily life is still a very difficult issue for this market. Maybe BTC, ETH, XRP can replace payment facilities but it will not be applied much in society so we do not be too confident in this. Personally, I will still choose Fiat because it determines the existence of the world and Crypto coins are just an investment to make a profit.
Honestly we cannot predict in the future, indeed crypto has not been widely applied in society, but we cannot lie that knowledge about crypto in society is very minimal and they are still not evenly familiar with it. This reminds me of the presence of the internet for the first time and many people who doubt and consider it unimportant, but after all these years the internet is growing, popular and becoming a necessity like today.

I am sure that crypto will become a problem solver in the payment system, to be better than conventional systems like today.

Putting a specific date when mainstream adoption can happen for some cryptocurrency is just a big waste of time as there is no need to put a deadline or a time frame for this to happen. Everything about this matter especially its pace will all determined by the market. Now, we all know that because cryptocurrencies are decentralized there is nobody funding its marketing campaign and mostly we are all relying on word-of-mouth power and some occasional positive media coverage. It is good to think that soon the dream can be a big reality but then we have to be realistic.

2162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the Top potential coin to buy now? May 20. 2019 on: May 23, 2019, 05:08:43 AM
i think the potential coins that will grow more is Ethereum because in Mid 2019 they will update POS so if everything fine after the update
then the price of Ethereum maybe easily to increase 1k$ or even more

Aside from Bitcoin, I am always recommending Ethereum because among all the alts this has all the potential for more growth even if other contenders are eating some of its market. Ethereum will eventually emerge as a big winner in the war for more adoption and use. I am aware that TRX is vying as the main rival of Eth but it can take a lot of time before that can be a viable competitor. Others are also promoting BNB as possible killer of Ethereum but I don't see it down the road though TRX and BNB are also good to be added to anyone's portfolio -- I actually have them.
2163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Why The Excitement for IEOs? on: May 23, 2019, 04:55:09 AM

Lately, there is a surging interest of many investors for IEO (Initial Exchange Offering) projects and many are reporting good profits or ROI for their investments. There is an ongoing IEO for a good project in the Binance Launchpad and you have to be on the lottery for the chance to buy the coins. Other similar exchanges are reporting good reception of projects under the IEO label.

So what is IEO? In its simplest term, this has the same principles surrounding the ICO platform but here an exchange is given the vast role in the whole crowdfunding process. In ICO, the main players are the developers and the token buyers but here in IEO one more party is involved and that is the exchange, of course.

So why more and more people are trusting the IEO more than ICO? Simply because the project is capitalizing on the platform and reputation of the exchange. This is quite advantageous to project developers as they can easily tap the vast resources and membership of the exchange and on the part of the investor they are assured of almost instant trading option for the tokens or coins bought.

Just like the ICO which is now a much-maligned platform due to many scams and failed projects, there are many advantages and maybe some disadvantage of the IEO option. Do you see this as the killer and replacement of the ICO?
2164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Block Halving cout down on: May 23, 2019, 04:15:04 AM

365 days from now, we will see another bitcoin block halving. Everyone touted this event as the pre-cursor to the next massive bull run, new all-time-high to be set. What are your plans? Start hoarding BTC now and let's see how everything goes next year. Grin What ATH are you seeing? As far as I can remember it took four to five months before the price started to move and goes on a parabolic rise till the end of 2017.

I am saving some Bitcoin from time to time regardless if there will be halving anytime or next year. Last year, there was the hype on ETF to be the biggest one factor that can push Bitcoin to a higher ground but since it is now clear that SEC is taking the time to finally approve such platform, the attention is now on the coming halving which can happen a year from now.

So will this halving be the trigger we are awaiting for the real and big bull run? I am hoping so. So starting today let's hoard all the bitcoin we can find and make sure no hacker can get into it otherwise when the price can reach $100K we might be doing a face-palm move.
2165  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Unstoppable domains and crypto payments. on: May 23, 2019, 03:58:56 AM
What's the use case of such a service? Donations? In case of commerce it makes no sense, since for each transaction a new address is generated instead of adding some extra data.

Certainly, this can be utilized in eCommerce but of course for normal everyday transactions too. I am seeing convenience in using a wallet address here because instead of that long and impersonal address the domain name is quite different. However, things can also boils down to adoption as this has be recognized with different platform for support. I am actually seeing some good potential for this service plus this can be important tool for branding too. Still, there are some technicalities that the project can be ironing out in the course of its adoption.
2166  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet Hacked? on: May 23, 2019, 03:44:37 AM
Can hardware wallets like Ledger Nano be hacked and their coins stolen?

One thing I learned in our modern, high-tech, interconnected and crypto-loving world is that anything can be possible with hackers who are genius and always two steps ahead of the game. Remember that story where hackers were able to destroy a nuclear facility of Iran...it was done cleverly using a virus just sleeping and hiding in a USB and the rest is history. Simple and effective. Hackers know that if there is a will there is a way. Let me share this very important article about the same subject:

https://www.chepicap.com/en/news/6222/trezor-one-ledger-nano-s-and-blue-get-hacked-ledger-denies-trezor-will-update-.html

This was last year and we know that hackers are always innovating to find ways to get into any platform or device as long they will connect online. The bottom line here is that we should always be careful and we should demand that our product/service providers should not be complacent in terms of security and protection.
2167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain domains cannot be removed or deleted! on: May 23, 2019, 03:26:42 AM

The main idea of this project is very attractive...imagine just using a simple domain instead of that complex wallet address with long stretch of letters and numbers. Here your domain is your wallet address so you can buy a domain name with your very name on it and whenever someone is asking for your wallet address just share the domain you registered in this site. Well, very useful indeed. Now, I wonder why the use of .zil then I read that it is because this is launched in the Zilliqa blockchain and a grantee of the Zilliqa Foundation to work with the extension. I am then wondering: Will it mean that my domain name is the same wallet address I can use for all cryptocurrencies and tokens...meaning the same for Bitcoin, Eth, and the rest of the gang?
2168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Bitcoin Scalability: An Introduction to Lightning Network & Alter. on: May 23, 2019, 03:07:06 AM
IMO DPoS is a double-edged sword, it's better in decentralisation than PoW (this advantage may be more and more insignificant over time) and energy saving, but lack of supports from the mining industry, which is a problem for a bitcoin fork. LBTC may be regarded as a DPoS version of bitcoin, it's a very interesting experiment that no other bitcoin forks had done before or after. Time will tell us if this is a better approach.

And there's the rub of this whole story as we need the support of the miners in the implementation of LBTC. At any rate, we should welcome any development or innovation that can possibly address the problem of scalability while not compromising one of the main tenets of the blockchain which is decentralization. I am sure that soon the whole industry can be able to arrive at solutions acceptable to all stakeholders. Do you think what are the reasons why miners are not interested with DPos?
2169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How a Decentralized Lifestyle of a Crypto Digital Nomad works. on: May 23, 2019, 02:52:20 AM

Living as a digital nomad can be the big dream for the many and that includes me though I am tied right now in my official residence for some reasons I only know. This is big dream for a lot of people -- just imagine traveling the world, seeing exotic locations including unheard of places and of course immersing in different cultures and above meeting various people of different kinds and types...well that can be so heavenly. Nothing can be more educational than seeing other places especially those outside of one's country. The world is waiting for us to explore and this can be done with the help of the internet and of course cryptocurrency. One can choose to establish an online crypto-related business so that it can operate as long as there is an internet connection available. Or one can be a good trader of cryptocurrency and make good money while sipping a cup of coffee and smiling on the beach. Amazing, isn't it?
2170  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Craig Wright on: May 23, 2019, 02:41:29 AM

With all the recent developments in regards to CSW claiming to be Satoshi and now lodging a copyright on the BTC white paper, is the Bitcoin core development team going to counter this claim and lodge their own re-submission of copyright? This whole debacle has gone too far and csw needs shutting down.

I have not heard any news if there will be some actions to be taken by those in the Bitcoin Foundation regarding the filing for the copyright of the original Bitcoin WhitePaper by Craig Wright. Well, for me, I think it is practically immaterial who owns the copyright for that document since the copyright to that does not give the holder the right to own Bitcoin. He can have it anytime but Bitcoin is owner-less. Craig Wright is emerging as the biggest joker in the world of cryptocurrency and he is determined to stop at nothing until he can convince one and all that he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto. I am wondering why if he is the real guy why he never continue posting on this forum...maybe old age is getting into him and can not remember the password anymore? Or maybe he is a lying psychopath who is basking on glory for his undeserved popularity?
2171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to understand what the miners are doing on: May 23, 2019, 02:10:31 AM

Indeed, this is very interesting and I am sure there are people who can benefit with this information plus the site is recommending  the optimal time to buy either Bitcoin, Ethereum or Bitcoin Cash. It is good to note that more efficient mining rigs can be coming to the market. I am just wondering if the Fundamental Price Floor can be connected somehow to the so-called intrinsic value of bitcoin...
2172  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Withdraw Completed But Not in Wallet? on: May 23, 2019, 01:56:04 AM
I recently did a withdraw from bittrex... and it showed as pending... then completed.  But the altcoin is not in my wallet.  Its been a short while already.  Has this happened to anyone with bittrex?  Example you withdraw say bitcoin or whatever altcoin like lisk etc to your wallet... it shows as completed.  But it still does not show up in your wallet?  If so, how long does it take?  Should i email bittrex about it?

Yes, you better contact the customer support of Bittrex. I have been with Bittrex for maybe three years now and never once did I encounter the same delayed transfer. Nothing wrong with getting into them that early as Bittrex is known to have a good customer support this will soon be threshed out for good. Though I am now more into Binance and Kucoin, I still have some tokens left in Bittrex and this exchange enjoyed my trust and confidence. So I am hoping this problem can be over tomorrow at most.
2173  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Taxes trading in other Countries on: May 22, 2019, 04:00:14 PM
You might be using an exchange registered in the U.S. but you aren't taxable by them as it would simply count as double taxation where you aren't even a citizen or even residing in that country. The capital gains you have earned would just be simply be taxed in the country you are living in, the U.S. laws in taxation simply don't apply to you as you didn't exactly earned from their country, you earned your gains through trade and possibly the ones who matched your order doesn't even reside in the U.S. since they are being used internationally.

This is one big reason why Bittrex is implementing the KYC so they can determine if a user is based in USA or in foreign country. The tax has to be paid in the country where the user is an official citizen otherwise it would be double taxation. Lucky are those in countries which do not have yet clear or established regulatory framework that can include tax matters.

I want clarification on the specific post of OP above since he (I assumed he is a man) did not convert bitcoin into fiat and used it to buy another coin, can we apply capital gains on that transaction?
2174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright, BTC USA Copy Rights/Patent Troll: What is his 'Endgame'? on: May 22, 2019, 03:49:42 PM
I can't see what he hopes to gain from all this, except publicity.

I used to ponder this same question. If it's an elaborate con -- perhaps having to do with his tax evasion case with Australia -- then it doesn't outwardly make sense. But maybe we don't have all the details? At this point, I think it really is all about the publicity and the guy has psychological issues. I think he's a megalomaniac and is seeking out ways to inflate his sense of social importance by injecting himself into the media any way he can. Maybe he is heavily invested in BSV and thinks this sort of notoriety is good for the price. That's one alternative explanation.

I see something wrong with Craig Wright but he is good in hiding his real persona with all the drama that he is getting into. He claimed to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto yet he can't move the very valuable bitcoin he should have by claiming that he had already forgotten the details. Oh well, he must be the most entertaining JOKER the world of cryptocurrency has produced so far. Amazingly, he has some supporters too and in the process they can be making good money...that is what you get when you know how to play with the media.

2175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Happy Bitcoin Pizza Everyone! on: May 22, 2019, 03:29:31 PM

Exactly 9 years ago on May 22, 2010, the most expensive pizza order and delivery took place when a guy named Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two pizzas from Papa John’s for 10,000 Bitcoin (BTC) now worth around $78 million. An amazing and mesmerizing story that is celebrated annually and immortalized the man and the pizza as part of colorful and sometimes controversial Bitcoin history. While others can be mocking the man, we should appreciate what he did because that was the baptism of fire for bitcoin as a currency.

Happy #PizzaDay to all crypto lovers, enthusiasts, hodlers, traders and even the critics out there! Now, let's grab some pizza and beer!

2176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Today is bitcoin pizza day on: May 22, 2019, 03:17:22 PM
Does anyone know how the little boy who bought the pizza is doing? It is too late to repent in retrospect,Hold the COINS in your hand!

I think that Laszlo Hanyecz is doing fine and in an interview he expressed no regret for that very popular pizza transaction years ago on May 22, 2010 that cost him 10,000 Bitcoin which could have been millions right now. It is already part of history and his name will forever be immortalized not just in this forum but in all the media covering cryptocurrency and every year his name is always remembered. The guy continues to believe on Bitcoin and what the coin can do for the global financial system.

2178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Israeli court rules Bitcoin an assets and taxable on: May 22, 2019, 02:47:00 PM
Already Israel has considered bitcoin under the taxable asset similar to gold. Here, it is once again revealed that it is taxable. This is good in my opinion, when something is getting taxed it is getting legalized which makes common people get out of the fear and use cryptocurrency.

I think for me it does not matter much if the government treats bitcoin as a currency or an asset because whatever the category you still have to pay taxes for capital gains. I think in USA you have to pay capital gains tax once you sell or trade your bitcoin. This is better than not recognizing at all or making bitcoin illegal like in China or even in Russia. Overall, Israel is not bad for the cryptocurrency movement as I am aware there are many crypto-related start ups in that country.
2179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOS Discussion on: May 22, 2019, 02:26:35 PM
There's an interesting speculation theory going around about the June 1st announcement that FB and/or Telegram might be building their cryptocurrencies on EOSIO. Thoughts?

https://www.eoswriter.io/2967_speculation-video-facebook-and-telegram-to-launch-on-eosio.eos

In case this can materialize, I am sure this can put EOS on the top. At any rate, I am seeing a lot of potential here and if the team and developers behind will continue pushing for more innovations and adoption then in no time at all EOS can fly together with the top cryptocurrencies. Operating as the top alternative to Ethereum, EOS has many advantages and differences from all the other platforms. I can sense that there are more developments on this platform and it would be exciting to soon witness them.
