2181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profitability on: June 26, 2017, 07:18:20 PM
I've only been back into mining for about a month or so.
Got in late after litecoin, too.
Stopped mining when it was no longer "profitable", in 2014 or so, and sold off my rigs.
Still managed to double/triple my original investment over time, and only doubled because I was stupid enough to stop following markets, (losing lots of shitcoins due to delistings, when I could have sold them for small fortunes - bad so much eac and xsi 😪).
I basically had given up.
So here's what I think after the last BTC rally.
I am ignoring current profitability and ROI calcs.
What I care about is how much hardware I can have up and running to accumulate cryptos I either genuinely believe in or that I believe will pump eventually.
I am basing my profit projections on how much my BTC will be worth when one BTC will cost 10, 20, 30, 100k, years and years from now. Block chain and cryptos are here to stay, and they will grow into a monster. We haven't seen anything yet.
This is a marathon, not a sprint.
At this stage It's far too speculative to invest in unless you stand to lose the money you put into your hardware.
But if you wait long enough, you will make money.
every now and then another crypto will pop up that will even show you day to day gains, Like ltc once did, like eth and others are showing now, but as far as I see it, that's only good because it lets me buy more equipment and set aside for power costs when times get rough.

ANd until the next rally, I will be buying all of the equipment being dumped by the shaky newbs (like I did last time!)

Haha I love it, nothing ventured, nothing gained

Here you go CoinDashers!

All you are missing at the moment is our CAP and our exact date, both will be delivered in the very near future and you are going to love them  Wink

Why was that token amount chosen?

Which amount I don't understand your question please explain that in details. If you are asking about supply than it was clear from long time ago as team publish about in previous posts.
I'm just curious how one settles on x amount such as 1B CDT

How is ethOS working out for you?

anyone get their panda problems solver by using eliosvp's solutions?

eliovp is the only hope for those freaking panda miners lol, he has customer support, panda should hire him.

I haven't made an update video on my latest stuff but basically that one ended up working properly on a proper PSU w/ PandamOS

Who's extended their coax cable / do I need an outdoor rated fitting or will any extension type due. The wire is exposed

We ran exterior grade ethernet from the house to our barn to take care of our internet out there. For coaxial, are you thinking of putting in a splitter from your service provider's coaxial line outside of the house to run to an outbuilding?
I actually just need to move it due to the awkward layout of the cord / gravel base -- now i'm thinking to just run the modem there and run a ethernet into the house to a switch / wifi extender . . awkward setup I guess lol

Also need to figure out this attic fan dilemma if anyone has any input!

You could certainly install some roof vents, this is a 1600 cfm example, but you can get more powerful ones if you need it. Just make sure you know what you're doing before cutting a hole in your roof, or get a contractor to do the job. Smiley

Do you have experience with these? I'm thinking of putting 2 in to begin on switches, and then one as many as I need to you know?

Has anyone managed to burn img to a USB drive and copy oneBash into it under Linux?

I clone nvOC_v0016.img to USD as follows:

Code:
sudo dd if=nvOC_v0016.img of=/dev/sdd1 bs=1M

What happens later is that I cannot mount the usb in order to copy oneBash file to it. This is not unusual though. Burning ubuntu image into a usd results in the same unmountable drive, but it still boots fine.

Thanks

I am not sure; but I believe you would need to mount and then copy each partition separately if using dd; in order for the resulting usb to work as intended.

It is a lot easier to download https://etcher.io/ for linux and then use it to image a USB or SSD.

I have done this and can verify it works.

Is it possible to update from 15 to 16 or will I need to burn the USB's again?

I am making an update implementation; but for now you will have to reimage the USB.  Also I saw your PM, just haven't gotten to it yet.

are the problems you are having with v0015 or v0016?

If they are with v0015; they may be fixed by v0016: so it is probably be worth trying as a potential easy solution.

I understand no worries I imagine you're swamped xD

they are all v15  . . I just now realized v16 is out. I seem to have fixed the issue for now by unplugging, adjusting settings, one rig has power limit and individual power limit on, and individual power limit is registering, the other is just individual power and it's registering after a couple restarts and cards being unplugged / replugged

Is it possible for me to edit the master file, so that when I burn a USB it will automatically have say the pool I want, my wallet, power settings etc? If so how can I do this?

The easiest way to do this is to image a usb normally, edit the oneBash to be the way you want; verify it is working as you want: then attach it to a windows computer and use hddrawcopy to make an image of the usb (rather than imaging to the usb).

You can then image subsequent USB keys with your modified image (I would recommend changing worker names in oneBash).

Seems simple enough I will try that, thank you

Are you willing to use escrow or would you pay first in the case we do a deal? I would need to verify the conditions and so on. Please let me know.
I have no issue with escrow, if escrow is used it would be at buyers expense & I would recommend Phil

I set individual power yes and set the limits on the correct GPU - the miner boots - code reads that it understands my command and populates it but then when the actual miner begins mining. . . the values are not set? How can I fix this?

Also how to fix - error target fan speed ?
Hi, what version of nvOC are you using? What cards? What values are not set, the Powerlimits, or the OC values?

latest version v00015

2x 1080 TI 1x 1080 Mini

I have not adjusted any OC values currently just adjusting power settings

Another issue has occured . . lol . .

I adjusted some settings in my other rig (not having any of the above issues) and now it is asking for password upon loading -- did ubuntu update itself ? do I need to reload the USB now? -- if so . . can I simply perform the same procedure over the drive or is this drive scrapped and I need another

homescreen shows 16.04 LTS

I'm switching my mining setup, want to sell my 6x rx470 sapphire 4gb unmodded. These cards are 1.5 months old. Located in Va, USA

Local pickup would be awesome, I'll be in Northern Va this weekend can meet then (Saturday)

Otherwise I don't mind shipping.

BTC, Paypal, wire acceptable looking for $400 a card - OBO
can you  ship them to india

if yes than  how many days ...

I can, it would be INTL expedited tracked insured package, so not cheap, let me know if you're still interested.

Bump lets make a deal Cheesy
