1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / AMD Vega 56 64 Frontier Mining Hashrate & Setup ? 3 Month ROI or less? on: January 08, 2018, 06:31:47 PM
Hey everyone, we all know the vega's are crazy profitable on cryptonight whether its the 56 or 64 and their prices have skyrocketed because of that. . if you can even find one

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814105073&cm_re=vega-_-14-105-073-_-Product

http://amzn.to/2mc42Xo Available on Amazon

My main question is who's mining with the frontiers w/ what settings and you have to be getting at least the numbers of the 64 vega which a card that at least looks cooler imo xD

At the current price of even 1000 per GPU per whattomine + factoring a minimal held coin value increase per crypto you would/could still ROI in 3 months (mainly looking at cards and if you pay $750 definitely the whole rig under 3 months per the calculation)

Pretty interesting time in crypto to say the least lol, so for those who are using these to mine could you shed some light how you maximize their performance?

1382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Guide] How to Setup and Use smOS Simple Miner - Easiest Mining OS on: January 08, 2018, 06:20:12 PM
I have seen that most RX 580s have diifculty getting recognized on Linux based OSes and you mostly have to run them on Windows.
I have 3 RX 580s running on windows right now but the power consumptions are ~150W per card for 29MH/s ETH and ~90MH/s LBR.

Would SimpleOS be good to try for better results? Just looking for an opinion on this from those who have tried.
what linux os were you having trouble with?
1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Guide] How to Setup and Use smOS Simple Miner - Easiest Mining OS on: January 08, 2018, 06:19:08 PM
Windows has biggest choice of coins and pools to mine.

Smos is easy and most of my rigs are smos. But I have three windows rigs
phil what do you sync your 3 windows rigs up to?
1384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Guide] How to Setup and Use smOS Simple Miner - Easiest Mining OS on: January 08, 2018, 06:18:47 PM
Hey, Vosk

Thanks for the video, Great work man  Grin

I have a question tho..;

If I want to mine Solaris or Verge or groestlcoin How does one sets up the SMOS for those Huh

Does anybody has done such a thing?

I have been trying different things with no luck and got little confused ... or maybe it's not possible?

Anyways

Cheers
I haven't personally done it but have you tried w/ ccminer?

I don't think I can post pictures as a newbie, but imagine a 8 card frame with cards in position 1 and 4 starting from left to right. Card in position 4 blows toward the card in position 1 and card in position 1 blows outside. The one in position 4 is the hotter one. So it does not make any sense. If 1 was hotter I would suspect 4 blows towards it and this is why it's hotter.
you can post links to a picture // one of us can embed it in the thread

It's the poor card who gets all the hot recycled air at the end T_T lol or the ones smothered in the middle like on the riserless 8 gpu board

1388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 04, 2018, 02:08:47 PM
ehsminer has been popping up in threads for a while now - and quickly getting marked as a scam every time they do.

have they ever opened any kind of sale in the past? They don't even show a semi finished product . .

Like it or not, the evil Bitmain L3+ is currently the best Scrypt miner out there.

My group's Scrypt farm consists of L3+s and A4s. If ever we had to increase our hash, it would be likely L3+.

We were one of the first early A4 user and it was a rough ride - there is a whole thread on that nightmare.

Several firmware later and thanks to several individuals who assisted Innosilicon in the field firmware upgrade - the A4 with latest firmware is stable but the whole episode left a bitter experience.

Hopefully better products can come into the market however, I hope Scrypt market will not suffer the same fate as X11 as more ASICs comes into the market.

Meanwhile, Baikal is still top notch in product roadmap, quality and reliability. Cant wait for the Giant-Bs to arrive soon.
were you able to get a giant b order in?

Have you guys been following ehsminer? Interesting to see they are now taking pre-orders. . wish I could find someone who had a real test version of it.

https://youtu.be/FxaHYOUkhlQ

I go over what I could find out about it in this video

https://www.ehsminer.com/ here's their site, i've been watching it for a couple months now and now that they've added a price and are apparently taking peoples money it has me more interested than ever xD

The 1GH miner is estimated 6 months away.  The 2GH miner is later in the year.  That's a little too far out for me for a company that has never released an ASIC miner before.
yeah I completely agree especially at that price point. . if the miners real why wouldn't bitmain drop the L4 the month before ehs is released lol #classicbitmain

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkxA5yfsqsE

2019 Q2 update
Put together a video review on if CPU mining is still profitable in 2019 and what some of the common options are EX CPU mining Monero XMR and also CPU mining an up and coming (debatably) cryptocurrency such as Veruscoin among others

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9hvDSMBz7s

Full timestamps and links in video description on YouTube.

If you're looking for hashrate & profitability charts, please reference this for AMD Ryzen 1700 on most mining algorithms - http://voskco.in/1700calc
If you're looking for extensive Verus (veruscoin / VRSC) hashrates on CPU and GPU please look here - http://voskco.in/VerusH

If you have CPU mining information/links/hashrates you'd like added to OP please post away and I will update this with more information.

1394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coss.io Cryptocurrency Exchange Review + Buying&Selling ZenCash on: January 03, 2018, 01:47:55 PM
You shouln't forget that COSS current platform is just a BETA and that a shiny new UI is coming very soon (early january). I do think it has potential, however it is trying to do a lot of things at the same time. Let's just wait and see.
hey I'm all for another rockstar exchange Cheesy but an exchange isn't something I would really want to release a worldwide functional public beta if there are still issues -- you know? you're not just playing with peoples time but also their money

Great guide. I currently mine with 2 ASUS STRIX O11G (http://[Suspicious link removed]/2DCVMq7) and they give about 730 Sol/s. Looking forward to include more.
thanks man Cheesy // how do you like them? what power usage / oc settings you using?
Nothing special: OC mode in ASUS Tweak Tool II only. The only strange thing I have noticed is that one of them is hotter than the other one 70-71C vs 64-65C although settings are identical, they are in an open frame.
can you post a picture of the rig?

what spot is the card on the frame? that's interesting O_O

Vosk,

Thanks for this, I was just looking at B250 mining expert or H110 Pro BTC+ board. BUT - both of them need to mix cards - AMD with Nvidia. You seem to have used just one - Nvidia and it works. Can you give more details on that please? Thanks.
I think a recent update has made it or will make it possible to not need to mix the cards on windows iirc

however I really only use linux for mining, and on linux you can use say 13 nvidia cards w/ no issues (i use smOS)

Nothing changed for it, just simply works

I like blowers. Not sure why people think they don't last longer. My hottest cards are always the first ones in the rig, which don't get air blown on them from other cards. When you have a box fan on top, the air across all the cards ends up being cooler.

Anyway, nice setup and great write up!
Agreed they get such a bad rep O_o

how much cooler do you notice the cards w/ and w/o the fan?

really appreciate it man and thanks for taking the time to reply Cheesy

Vosk are you still high on zen? I know you've been mining it since before the huge runup earlier this year. Is it still worthwhile
Absolutely man, sorry late reply, if you look at what their team is doing first some of the top 25 coins. . you may start to wonder when their coin will be up there Cheesy
