Yes. Or no. Do it! Or don't! To update or not to update, that's the question. You're not going to do it, you're just going to wait a while and then post the exact same question again. Give it up, read your own post history instead of asking the same thing over and over again.

Wait for it, I'll go on a reporting spree now. Enjoy.

If you have any marketable skills, use the Services board.
223  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: August 29, 2023, 01:40:33 PM
exchange some LTC to XMR
I wasn't sure if I saw it correctly, so I tried again and I can now confim a bug.
When I make a transaction, I see this:
Confirming transaction... (0/1 confirmations)
And a bit later I see this:
Confirming transaction... (3/10 confirmations)

I check again (a third time), and now noticed the XMR test amount was received already when LTC had 3 confirmations. It looks like the bug is only in the interface.
224  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Does it make sense to have mobile wallet + desktop wallet from same brand? on: August 28, 2023, 07:18:00 PM
A simpler way to avoid tampering with your OS is burning a DVD-R, then write on it so you know it wasn't switched out.
How's DVD-R safer? I don't understand. If the DVD is one-time burned, then you probably can't run any OS on it. If it isn't one-time, then it works similarly to a USB? Curious, actually, I may be wrong. I haven't ever used DVD for anything beyond burning videos.
Using a (read only) DVD instead of USB means your OS can't be tampered with for sure. The moment you reboot, it's fresh again.
Your data can still be stored on any other encrypted partition.

And talking about VPS, you also need to more careful about being "noisy neighbor".
I created a topic about a cheap pay by the hour VPS provider a couple months ago, and paid about half a dollar for a full IBD (with pruning). They're throttling CPU at that price, but it avoids being kicked off as a noisy neighbor. It just gets slower, unless you pay more.
VPS prices have been dropping faster than the blockchain is growing, so I don't expect memory load to ever be a problem again.
226  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Failed to submit review and also did not refund the payment. on: August 27, 2023, 09:33:05 PM
What makes it a lot more difficult than it already is, is that $78 is almost 1/4(sometimes even more than 1/4) of the total average monthly salary here in the Philippines.
If I'd be given the opportunity to earn a week's worth of salary in a short amount of time, I'd take it!
I don't get it: if 0.003 Bitcoin is worth so much you can't even pay it back, wasting the opportunity to earn it is just stupid.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Not your keys, not your coins", What's the threshold before it fails? on: August 27, 2023, 07:24:28 PM
I always assumed the majority of Bitcoin "owners" currently holds their Bitcoin on an exchange. If they move from largely unregulated companies registered in the Cayman Islands to regulated brokers in their own country, I consider that an improvement.
228  Other / Meta / Re: [Updated August 2023] How many banned users have you merited? on: August 27, 2023, 09:20:33 AM
Eternal shame, thanks for that Shocked

I don't know what went wrong, I made some changes to get my 4 years old script working again. I'll fix it later, I'm out with the kids now.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: presuring someone into Bitcoin investment on: August 27, 2023, 08:09:54 AM
Instead of pressuring someone you care about, give it to them if you want them to own Bitcoin. I did that a few times, but stopped for OPSEC reasons.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: a Monopoly-Inspired Journey to Accumulate 1 BTC on: August 26, 2023, 08:19:36 AM
Some say you can earn 1 Bitcoin from signature campaigns. Many of them pay up to around 0.004 Bitcoin per week, that means it takes 5 years to stack a whole Bitcoin. If Bitcoin goes up in value it might take longer.

Of course, many people join Bitcointalk for only this reason, and most of them fail. Depending on where you live and local wages it might be easier to buy a piece of Bitcoin every month. And it doesn't hurt to diversify a bit on the stock market to spread your risk.

You've been here a year now, if you don't own Bitcoin yet, you're doing it wrong.
231  Other / Meta / Re: Request: Disable JayJuanGee in the Wall Observer thread on: August 26, 2023, 05:06:01 AM
Be careful here, there's a very thin line between a parody and plagiarism. Since it's you, and not a random signature spammer, I hope you'll get the benefit of the doubt.
232  Other / Meta / Re: Still kicking. on: August 25, 2023, 05:59:53 PM
You really love it when users gets on each other with hurtful words 😅😅.
Hurtful words only exist in your mind.
233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet resp. Address Consolidation on: August 24, 2023, 03:47:07 PM
Actually I'm now asking myself where would this end? After having consolidated inputs < 0.0004 BTC what will come to my mind next - consolidating inputs < 0.004 BTC ? and then inputs < 0.04 BTC ?
It depends on how you spend your Bitcoin: for Bitcoin coffee you can use small inputs, but if you're buying a car it's going to be a problem.
234  Economy / Services / Re: -NEWESCROW- Providing Top Tier Escrow Service Since 2012 on: August 24, 2023, 03:31:09 PM
With over 10 years of unparalleled experience in the industry, we have established ourselves as trusted experts in BTC escrow services.
If that would be true, you would have added proof. Since you conveniently forgot that, I'm going to assume you're just another scammer.
235  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Another eSim service on: August 24, 2023, 11:38:51 AM
So when you buy an eSIM, it's completely digital right? As in, no card for you to put anywhere.

Then how do you switch between different eSIMs on your devices?
It's digital indeed.
There's a list of esim cards, just like with regular sim cards if your phone has more than one. I can select one esim at a time.
236  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Another eSim service on: August 24, 2023, 08:31:02 AM
I recently got a free eSim, from RedBull. It's valid for a year in many countries. There are more services offering free trials, and since they compete worldwide, I'm hoping many more will offer free trials in the coming years.
The bad thing is most free eSims require installing an app.

I don't really need it though, as long as I'm inside EU I have enough data in my plan. I see a bigger market for GPS trackers using eSim.

Update: I googled it, and the first thing I found was lifetime eSim for €2.50, to be soldered inside a device. This is very scary, it will create a whole new level of attacks. Imagine replacing someone's hardware wallet with a fake device with esim that instantly broadcasts the PIN. Air gapped devices will need a faraday cage to be sure.
237  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: .0043 bitcoin loan defaulted by [Devawnm367] on: August 24, 2023, 08:21:23 AM
From what sashan says, I see that he does it partly out of altruism, but many times to get out of the hole as you say is as easy as tightening the belt for a while, which will be more or less long depending on the size of the hole. But the thing is that when I see people asking for a small loan, and after paying it back they ask for another one, and another one, I tend to think that things are going to end badly. It is not necessarily so in 100% of the cases but it indicates a bad management of own resources and not knowing or ignoring basic rules of personal finance.
There's someone right now on the Lending board, who takes larger and larger loans right after paying one back.

I've seen it many times, both online and IRL: taking a loan once, paying it back with interest, and never doing it again can actually help someone. But doing it on a regular basis either drains your finances, or you're filling one hole with another and not planning to ever pay it back. Either way, it often gets worse after a while.
238  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: .0043 bitcoin loan defaulted by [Devawnm367] on: August 23, 2023, 05:11:03 PM
I am at a huge loss and most of all the lender is a loser.
If you're only losing money, why are you still lending?

This is the reason I never joined the lending business: it doesn't seem worth the risk.
239  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 10 BTC Casascius up for auction on Stacks Bowers on: August 23, 2023, 09:22:25 AM
what would US authorities do with these after they possibly peeled them?
I don't think they'll sell them to collectors if that's what you mean. My guess: it stays in a box labeled "evidence" for many years.
240  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: August 22, 2023, 05:27:33 PM
Since I was invited to join the signature campaign, I did a small test (not on Mobile) to exchange some LTC to XMR. What I really like, is the lack of Cloudflare. The clearnet site just loads normally in Tor browser, and that's something mosts sites can't do anymore nowadays.
What surprised me, is there is no fixed "fee per transaction". It looks like the 1% or 0.5% fee is really everything, which matters a lot on small transactions. The minimum amount is 0.0001BTC, and much lower in value for altcoins. I haven't tried a large amount, as it was only for testing and I don't really need to exchange coins at the moment.
So far, I'm not disappointed and bookmarked the .onion site (on my desktop). I kinda expect people to complain about the limited choices of altcoins though.
