222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BBQcoin.org Official Thread on: October 08, 2013, 07:32:51 PM
Just to let everyone know that I will be redirecting the BBQcoin.org domain to the BBQcoin foundation website run by BigDuab.

I think he feels and would also like to run a new official BBQcoin website and be the Dev team so when I get back home on Thursday this will be happening.

If feel I have done all I can with this coin and it being in fresh hands will be great for it.

Thank you to all BBQcoin supporters over the past year and I wish you all the best.
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BBQcoin.org Official Thread on: October 08, 2013, 03:50:38 PM
This makes for some nice drama reading, but the question remains.

I guess I was not not privileged enough to get any notice of a hard fork (For those that do not know I own/run bbq.cryptocoinexplorer.com).

AFAIK I am the only working block explorer for BBQ. The explorer linked to on BBQcoin.org has been frozen since JULY. (478500 2013-07-04 15:31:38)

These leaves me in tough situation, and I am tempted to take down the explorer until this matter is settled, as there now seems no consensus on which client/chain is the official.

This is the BBQcoin.org official thread so the client and source at BBQcoin.org is official.

Cryptsy have contacted me asking for the new client source and I have given them the link.

The website was updated with a post about the client update, also on cryptocointalk but I was going to wait until this forum came back online but then people kept saying it was never going to come back online so I posted the client update news on what I could.

I am sorry that you did not get notified.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BBQcoin.org Official Thread on: October 08, 2013, 01:10:37 PM
yea, there wasnt much going on. id had some things i wanted to fix/backport but all i got "nice you working on that" but no "ok, merge it"...

BBQcoin when developed by CuBox or Greedie or whoever it was just a basic clone from litecoin and even had the same Litecoin logo, so it is nothing amazingly special but my client updates are an attempt to bring this coin back in line with the others in terms of speed and security.

The pre-mine that was mentioned is just not so. It is people downloading the new client that they should be doing and then mining on it.

If the exchanges don't upgrade to the new client then they are the ones letting this coin down. I am trying to bring new things into the client with this update just basic changes with more complex ones to come.

Extremecoin is nothing to do with BBQcoin but it is on several exchanges with an exciting reward drop.

If the general feeling from more than two people is that they don't want the update then fine I will revert everything to the old client and we can watch BQC slowly die.

But having BigDuab take it upon himself to post everywhere telling everyone not to download the new client and emailing exchanges telling them the same is undermining, not fair on the users downloading the new client and counter productive.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BBQcoin.org Official Thread on: October 08, 2013, 09:43:57 AM
What are you guys doing? You seem to be the ones that want to break BBQCoin and stop it from getting upgraded and move forward.

Bigduab you don't run BBQcoin.org so you cannot make decisions for it. And we are still to wait for your android wallet.

Why are you now going to the exchanges as a non Dev and telling them what to do?

All clients get updated and lots of users have already downloaded and started using the new client and you are trying to make it so that any coins they mine will be useful.

Your not a client development Dev so please stop acting like you are. Please.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING! Do not install the 1.1 Client from BBQCoin.org INSTANT HARDFORK on: October 07, 2013, 03:57:19 PM
The BQC client update that CaptChadd sent out on October 4th (via Cryptocointalk.com) will put you on a fork that is unsupported by all exchanges, pools and blockexplorers. If you have already upgraded please revert back to the official client found on sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/bbqcoin/.

-bigdaub

What was said here about the exchanges saying it is unsupported is not true. I have emailed the exchanges and have an open ticket with one. The only reason this client update has not been widely adopted was due to lack of communication with this forum being down.

BBQCoin Client Version 1.1 on BBQcoin.org is the mandatory client upgrade with more upgrades in the future with more seed nodes, checkpoints etc.

When the exchanges do change to the new client anyone still using the old one could lose coins. The sooner you upgrade the safer you are.

I have done all I can do now to let everyone know.

All I ask for is trust. I believed in BQC enough to buy a website and help to bring it back from the dead. Now I am slowly going to modernise the client and get the interest back.

So if you want the official client then please download it from the official website at BBQcoin.org which it had always been.

Thanks
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.2 PLEASE DOWNLOAD NOW on: October 02, 2013, 10:16:43 PM
What's the point in downloading blockchain separately? Why can't client sync automatically?

Just makes it quicker to get your client synced thats all.
So if I download the client only, will it sync succesfully?

I have not tried for weeks now, you can give it a try but if not then download the blockchain.

To be honest downloading the blockchain I posted, is a lot quicker way to get yourself synced up.

Bitcoin users have to do it all the time now that chain is so long.
Well the bitcoin's blockchain is not just a copy of block database, but a bootstrap file, Bitcoin still checks it for integrity and proof-of-work.
I just mean that if you have any problems with syncronizing, you just need to hardcode problematic blocks in the client. Because it should always be able to sync from scratch.

I totally agree with you and it will be looked into ready for the next client upgrade.

I am working on getting a webhosting and wordpress installation service up and running that takes Extremecoin as payment.

I am sure people would like to have a website at the cost of a few Extremecoin's.

More service announcements to come.

I think this coin should be renamed to VPScoin.

Pool mining this coin now using the vps's that I have, gives them something extra to do.

So CaptChadd any plans for some EXC services?  For the coin to actually be worth anything besides pump-and-dump there needs to be something (besides exchanging it) to spend it on.  I am excited about this coin and i'm holding a fair amount.  Would love to see domain name registrations and steam codes and maybe gaming/gambling dice or something as a start.

I was thinking about trying to make a blockchain explorer because the posted one seems dead, but my experience is more in desktop development than web, though I like learning new stuff.

Just curious what future plans are for this coin? I really think this is one of the better coins out there and would like to see it put to good use.

I have contacted  many sites and lots of them have said they will add Extremecoin when they add their next batch of coins. At the moment I think most service providers are waiting for the reward drop to see if the coin and survive past it.

I know that it can, other coins have proved that.

A block explorer is something that we could really do with, the current one is down right now.

Fucking hilarious

Local host is right. They said they were solo mining.

Right now CoinEx pool is running perfectly with the blockchain and is keeping up with the difficulty adjustments. This is a fast coin with an extreme block reward drop that will happen in the coming weeks. I am very excited about this coin for many ways and I hope that the supporters are too.

When the reward drop happens, suddenly this coin is going to be very rare to mine, even more rare than Mincoin.

or you could download the blockchain captnchadd posted. worked for me from first try Smiley great work captn and keep it up!

There is more to come, I am just adding the finishing touches to a side company that offers Website and Wordpress hosting and will be taking Extremecoin as payment.

This website service should be ready to go within two weeks!!

Well, wtf is happening with EXC again? Difficulty is 55 (!) now, lol.

Someone or a group of people are solo mining this with massive amounts of power, this will probably 51% attack the chain and might kill it, I do have checkpoints in place. There is not much that can be done, unless you know of someone who has 1000 7950's that you could borrow?

I never understand killing a chain, as to 51% attack it you have to mine a lot of the coins, so surely it would make better sense in terms of profit to them sell the coins?

Anyway, the difficulty adjusts every 2 blocks with an average of the last 4, so as soon as they give up, things will rapidly go back to normal after only a few blocks, then they might just dump all their coins, if they do that at this low value, then I will happily buy them all.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.2 PLEASE DOWNLOAD NOW on: September 26, 2013, 06:35:42 PM
So when do you think the best time would be for Cryptsy to add this coin?

Right now it is probably more easier to mine EXC rather than buy them but once that reward drop gets closer, more users might have to move to buying coins.

So should Cryptsy add EXC before the reward drop or after?

I'd say it needs to go on sooner rather than later, we don't want to increase public awareness with a listing on Cryptsy only for those people to see that a few select miners have mined the coin and they themselves can no longer mine it.

The listing would spread awareness and get more miners on board to distribute the available coins more fairly before the rewards run down.

Well I have heard nothing from Cryptsy but a guy called Omega has made a Google Doc's Bitcoin Scrypt Exchange and put me as the middleman for trades, if things go well on there I imagine it could get a lot of attention and I could ask him if he could add Extremecoin on there too?

Think that sounds like a good thing? The great thing about Google Doc exchanges is you cannot really have pump and dumps do to the time delay of placing an order and it completing, so what you find is the price on there tends to be a realistic one, it just about getting the volume.

You can find the link to it on this website Bitcoinscrypt.org, that is Omega6's website.

Same here and i've added that node and it remained at 0 connections. However after downloading  your blockchain I got connections.

Oh yes, we did have a problem with one of the early blocks on release day, glad to see that you read back through the threads for a fix.
