221  Other / Meta / Re: A recap of Theymos April fool Jokes from 2015 till date on: April 01, 2024, 07:12:13 PM
Now that's funny--can't say I've ever seen a negative merit count in someone's profile.  Who's got the lowest so far, I wonder?

Someone will need to scrap the data and show us some stats on that real quick before it's all back to normal. So far from what I've seen, Cyrus is on top of the leaderboard.
222  Other / Meta / Re: Adjustments to Merit calculation on: April 01, 2024, 07:05:56 PM
Lol, good one.  Grin

I came rushing to the Meta section to find out what was going on after I noticed a deduction in my Merit points only to find out that we had been pranked.

That loudmouth rank with the symbol beneath it is hilarious.  Grin
223  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] BlackJack.Fun | Signature Campaign | Up to $90/W on: April 01, 2024, 06:56:43 PM
My payment has arrived and thanks for being so quick however the withdrawal fee is around 6k sats which translates to 4 bucks. It is 4.5% when we get the full payment $90 and a lot more when we make less posts.

I think that's a bit too much considering that most of us are not interested in keeping the funds on the casino. I've been in similar campaigns before and the manager talked to the casino owner and they decided not to charge  the campaign participants any withdrawal fees. Is there something you can do about it icopress?

edit: I just withdrew my coins and the fee was 2.5k sats ~$1.75. It is not huge but would be better if it was 0.

Same here. I requested a withdrawal, and it was showing over 5k sats as the estimated fee for the transaction which is over $3 at the current Bitcoin exchange rate. The withdrawal is still pending, so I'm not sure how much I will receive after the fee deduction. As you said, it would have been great if we, campaign participants, were exempted from the withdrawal fees.

Edit: I have received my payment after the withdrawal request which is $41.65 and was originally worth $45. A total of $3.35 has been deducted as the fee and that is more than 7% of my total payment, and it's a lot.
@icopress, please do something about this issue.
224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Scams in Each Market Condition? on: March 31, 2024, 11:52:31 PM
There's existence of crypto scams and they're growing to become popular and most investors now have a clue about the projects.

We shouldn't take scammers for granted thinking we know everything about them and all their scamming techniques because if we can learn about them and their ways of scamming people, they can learn about this fact and improve their ways as well. This is the reason why scammers are becoming smarter day by day, you won't see them repeating the same scams very often and there are some scams and exploits that would even deceive an experienced person with a very high IQ. So we need to be vigilant at all times and from every single thing.

Suppose you are talking specifically about cryptocurrency projects that try to scam people. In that case, that's easy and of course, someone with a little experience in the market can identify which projects are here to stay and which ones are just collecting donations from people for their lives and will eventually run away with them.

Whatever it is you are referring to, we should have self-awareness at all times to stay safe from scams and scammers.

Phillipma1957, I also have my thoughts and prayers with that guy but I have noticed that he has mentioned Ard coin which seems more like a promotion to me then anything else.

I think he's somehow connected with that coin or has heavily invested in that coin and that's why he's mentioning that coin so others may search for it or purchase it.

He probably meant "alt coin" but mistyped it or couldn't spell it correctly. I'm pretty sure, based on the sentence he used, that he didn't mean to promote a project with that post because I have seen a lot of project shills around the forum and they do it pretty precisely when they go for it, and wouldn't make it look like this and confuse people, besides, he would have the name in the title if he was here to promote a project.

@OP, I don't know the backstory, but just like others, I wish that you and your family become stable once again and all your problems, specifically the financial ones, get resolved. Welcome back to the forum.
226  Economy / Economics / Re: Debt Management. on: March 31, 2024, 08:33:54 PM
Learn to cut cost: one needs to avoid too much spendings, normalize spendings only on necessary things, either for food bills, craving or wants, your expenses should be focused on your needs and not wants.

Avoid spending beyond your budget: this is also another way of debt management because when you spend only what you can afford, it would help you from being a debtor cause you'll be more focused on things you need.

Make wise spendings: Consider your financial strength before purchasing items, purchase only items that are of needs not the ones that don't match your financial strength.

These three are the same things written in different forms, the actual point is not to overspend so that you don't need to borrow money to cover your expenses.

In my opinion, a person should never borrow money or take loans for personal expenses because you will barely be able to repay that without having any problems if you are a salaried person who gets a fixed amount every month. Let's suppose you borrow some money because you are out of cash and you think of repaying that loan next month with your salary. When you get your salary next month and repay the loan, you will have less money left once again, and after a few days, you will need money again. So this cycle will continue.

A personal loan should only be taken when the person taking the loan knows they will have enough money in the future to repay the loan and not the need to take another loan.
227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the current bitcoin bull run confirmed now ? on: March 31, 2024, 05:55:23 PM
We had bitcoin touching even $70k not long ago. It has almost doubled in few months. Is this the sign of current bull run. Or we can expect even more movement and then the bull run will be confirmed ?

In general, the bull run occurs or starts after the halving event which is scheduled to occur on the 19th, of April approximately. The uptrend that we have seen from Bitcoin in recent months was mostly unexpected because most of us were expecting a slow recovery process up until the halving event, maybe making the price reach around $60k and then taking more pace after the halving is done. However, that didn't happen, and the market went up pretty fast in a few months so it even created a new all-time high even before the halving event.

So, whether this uptrend was a part of the long-anticipated bull run, we can say so because it's only in a bull run that Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency doest at least 1x of its current value, and since the bull run usually starts a few months after the halving, we are optimistic that we will see something more, more precisely the remaining part of the bull run in the next couple of years.
228  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: is bit-blaze.com SCAM on: March 31, 2024, 12:53:14 PM
they asking for more verification which require a deposit of 100$ minimum
i tried to send the 700$ back to the sender but still showing an error message
the problem is that i cant send back the money to the sender
i asked the support to send the sender back his money but they didnt respond
https://prnt.sc/Pux5WDc2Pevb

Coyster he added me on discord i just want to give him back his money and end this issue

It's a scam and you shouldn't entertain the guy anymore. If you haven't given him what he was trying to buy from you yet, that's great, because if he had gotten what he was looking for, you would be at a loss but if you haven't yet handed over the property, don't do it.

There are a lot of such scams over the internet these days where you are sent money in an unknown website and to withdraw that money, they would ask you for more money to activate the account or to verify it or something, and when you do that because you think you will get everything back, you won't see them ever again.

So do this, message the guy and tell him that the website won't let you withdraw the funds, and you will only deal with him if he agrees to send your payment directly to your wallet or in another platform where you wish to receive the payment. If he refuses to do that, don't deal with him.
229  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Wait for the right set-up on: March 31, 2024, 10:33:12 AM
Well, you are right that one cannot trade without opportunities because then it will be a forced trade, however, a good trader would try and find opportunities in any market condition so that they don't have to wait very long before they can earn some profit, and this is possible only through research and analysis.

A day trader can never rest. If you are a day trader, you can't just sit and wait for the market to serve you the opportunities in a plate but you will need to go out there and do your research and find out coins and tokens that are creating trading-windows based on the strategy you are using. Regardless of the market conditions, there will always be some cryptocurrencies that will give you a window that you can use to make your trades.

However, this doesn't mean one should overdo it as you said, you are not supposed to become greedy and make hateful trading decisions because that might make you lose focus and make you lose money in the long run.
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shitcoin games in exchanges on: March 31, 2024, 01:43:40 AM
Those are called pump-and-dump coins or tokens, and by the way, it's not the exchange that buys to pump and then sells to dump those cryptocurrencies but it's the teams behind those projects and the people involved. I wouldn't say that no exchange does that, they can do that as well because everyone out there, including you and me, is looking for profits at the end of the day, and if you can earn some of it by buying a certain token and then selling it after some time, you wouldn't mind. However, you can't blame the exchange for that.

If you buy when a coin or token has already skyrocketed, you are most likely going to lose money, you don't FOMO into such cryptocurrencies out of greed because you won't get anything, and you should also not buy coins or tokens right after they are listed unless you have set a bot that would do the buying and selling for you which will be quick but if you try doing that manually yourself, you will most likely get burned.

So avoid such things to stay on the safe side.
231  Economy / Economics / Re: How does one know and join the right community after a job loss? on: March 31, 2024, 12:01:16 AM
Following your dreams is not an easy thing to do, it's even more difficult if you have a family to feed. So when you lose your job and want to pursue your dream career, the first thing you need to do is recheck your current financial status and see where you stand. If you have enough savings that help you survive, with the family, for at least a year, and if you are sure that if you get into that path, you will at least be able to reach somewhere, then I would say go for it.

However, if you have no savings at all and you have only been covering all the expenses with your salary, you will need to find a source of income first before you get into anything because that's essential, no one will help you take care of your family by providing financial aid for a year or so because if you get into something new, you will need time to learn everything to the extent where you can make a career out of it, you see, passion and career are different things. You might have a passion for something but whether or not you can make a career out of it is a different thing.

So, once you have evaluated this thing and have made your decision, your next action will be based on that.

If you have savings and want to pursue your dream career, start doing research and finding methodologies that you can utilize to make things work in your favor.

If you don't have any savings, you should look for a source of income first, be it a job or anything that can help you run the kitchen because you can't make your family survive for what you want to achieve.

Well, it's not that I think my post quality isn't good, but there is nothing wrong with learning and improving over time. As they say, there is always room for improvement in anything you do because nothing is always perfect.

So, since it's not a Merit contest and wouldn't make me look like I'm hunting for merits,  Tongue I'd like to get my posts reviewed and would love to have some feedback about it. I'll do whatever is asked that can make my posting better or make me a better poster.

Here's my application:

233  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What's your take on all CEX being regulated? on: March 30, 2024, 08:48:59 PM
Really! bypassing KYC, never heard of that really.

It's not bypassing actually, that wouldn't be the right word to use here because to bypass means to go around without having to face something, what people who don't want to use their identities do is buy accounts or create accounts with the name of other people and make them verify those accounts so that they can use them for any purpose, mostly scamming or fraud or money laundering. They pay money for this, and those who are in need of money would be ready to do that.

However my emphasis is how to curtail the activities of some CEX CEO from running away with investors funds overnight. My thought is weather fully compliance to government regulation will help just like the traditional banking system....

I'm not sure whether full compliance is required or not, but as far as I know, most centralized exchanges do have to comply with the authorities, especially to acquire licensing to operate within a certain jurisdiction, and when they do that, they probably need to give all the details about the team and stuff.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good or Bad - Blackrock Buying BTC on: March 30, 2024, 03:06:03 PM
I don't see any reason why it can be bad. If you say that them buying a lot of Bitcoin will make it difficult for retail investors to buy Bitcoin then it's not true. They wouldn't buy every Bitcoin up for sale and people who are interested in buying at current prices can still make their purchases regardless of how many they or any other industry leader buys.

Individuals generally don't buy when the prices are a bit high while companies and firms like Blackrock can't wait for a better price because they need to have Bitcoin at all times for their customers.
235  Economy / Economics / Re: INFLATION, A MOTIVATION TO INVEST IN CRYPTOFASHIONS on: March 30, 2024, 02:34:34 PM
I don't know if we can call it a benefit or not. Still, some businessmen, mostly in retail, tend to make more money when there is a sudden increase in the prices of goods in case they already have bought stocked a lot of those stuff in the past and since they have paid for them earlier, it wouldn't cost them any extra. Still, as the prices have increased due to inflation, they can sell them for a higher price giving them a higher profit margin.

Though I'm not sure if this works in every business, based on my knowledge, people who own stores where they sell groceries and stuff do get this benefit when there is high inflation. Some people in some countries would even keep some items hidden if that isn't easily available in the market so that they can sell them at a higher price after a few days. It's unethical, of course, but they barely care about that.  Smiley
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to the common man. on: March 29, 2024, 11:31:49 PM
A common man or a common citizen who strives to earn bread for himself and his family twice a day would barely get the time and energy to get into technological advancements and things that are happening in the internet world. Most such people wouldn't even get to use the internet that often and things such as Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies require one to be digitally aware of things that are necessary for them to understand everything properly.

Such a person might decide to make investments when they hear it has hope for a better future, but it will give them a hard time getting a grasp of everything including the buying, sending and receiving, and storing of cryptocurrencies, they might even have their assets lost if they can't keep their credentials and secret keys and phrases safe.  Smiley
237  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful where you connect your wallet on: March 29, 2024, 11:09:25 PM
  • Try never to connect your wallet to any website, bot or dapp you do not trust

Nothing or no one can be trusted with money these days, so a person shouldn't connect their wallets containing funds to any website or service. If they wish to do so, they should simply remove the wallet with funds from the extension if it's an imported wallet, if it's not, they should use a different wallet extension.

  • If you must connect your wallet to anywhere, ensure the balance in that wallet is something you can afford to lose

Why keep anything in it even if it's affordable? Don't give these people even $1 who steal and eat the hard-earned money of poor users.

  • watch out for phishing sites by properly scrutinizing the url of any website you visit so you avoid being a victim

They mostly target newbie investors and users by luring them in with things such as free airdrops, NFTs, claimable rewards, and a bunch of other stuff because they know newbies are more vulnerable and can easily fall for such things.[/list]
238  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on the market right now? on: March 29, 2024, 07:30:17 PM
I want to stock up on alts for the spot now. What do you think, should I buy now or should I wait?

That should be your decision to make based on what you want to achieve and how long you have been in the market. If you have been around, and have seen lower prices, then you will barely enjoy buying at this point, but if you haven't been here and joined just recently, maybe you can buy at the current prices by applying the DCA method which will save you from the volatility of the market if you buy in one go.

Bitcoin Block Halving event will occur next month, and market dynamics will experience a change for sure but whether the initial change will be positive or negative is unknown to all of us. Thus, there is no proper answer to your question of whether you should wait or buy right now.  Smiley

P.S: A suggestion from my side would be to always do your research before making an investment in a cryptocurrency, even if it's Bitcoin, if you are making your first investment in it, you need to know about it.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 🔥 Bitcoin Buy and Hold 👑 on: March 29, 2024, 02:42:09 PM
You will barely hear any failure stories during the bull season in the market because almost everyone who bought before the bull run or the recovery process will be in profit by the time it reaches. The real challenge is to stick around during the bear market and have the same respect, feelings, and enthusiasm for buying and holding Bitcoin because most people's patience is tested during those times and only people with strong hands can stand still.  Wink

More than 50% of people (often newbies) who prays Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies during the bull run but have minimal knowledge about the market or cryptocurrencies tend to run away when the market starts crashing because they have never seen or heard that happening, and it's not easy seeing your portfolio lose value after every passing hour.  Grin
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman Fried (scam banker fraud) 25 years on: March 29, 2024, 09:22:27 AM
I watched somewhere on the news where the parent made a statement, “We are heartbroken and will continue to fight for our son.” Is it that they don't know that their son is guilty or what, or are they using the love they have for their child to blind themselves to what's right?

Parents can't accept what's bad in their children even if it's proven. They might know he did something wrong, but they can't stand and watch him spend 25 years in prison without doing anything, after all, he is their child and parents love their children more than anything in the world.  Smiley

That being said, SBF getting the treatment he deserves will surely be an example in this industry for all industry leaders to not do things that SBF did, otherwise, you can end up spending the rest of your life in prison and the money you may earn through fraud and scams won't be of any use.
