181  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is forex trading a hobby or a skill on: April 07, 2024, 12:33:07 AM
Generally speaking, a skill can be a hobby as well because your hobbies are things that you do when you have free time and we all know that practice makes a man perfect as they say, so if you have something as a hobby, it means you are pretty much skilled in it. So they are interchangeable things. You can say that you trade as a hobby, and you can also say that you have trading skills because you do if you do it regularly and precisely.

Someone who loves drawing or creating art, but they might have a different profession so they draw or make art when they are free. Now if they are very good at it, we can say that they have amazing drawing skills even though they don't have a career in it or do it professionally.

So, I believe it is completely okay to have forex trading or any sort of trading or literally anything as a hobby if you like doing it but you don't do it as a profession.
182  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why not create a Gambling platform on Market narrative? on: April 06, 2024, 11:43:15 PM
why not create a platform for predicting the performance of any cryptocurrency or a platform for predicting future trends in the market or both?

How would the payout be determined anyway? If I'm to make a bet that the newly launched meme coin, XYZ, is going to hit a certain price in the future, what would be the odds for my bet and how would that be determined? Will it be based on how close my prediction goes or some other way?

Nothing is undoable in the world, but it will take a lot of brainstorming and a lot of work to get something like that done. Besides, as @mindrust said it already, we have futures and options trading platforms where one can almost do the same thing just for a shorter timeframe, and wouldn't one be able to get more profit if they buy the coins or invest in projects that they think will perform very well in the future? Even the same amount being used as the bet could be used to make the purchase.
183  Other / Off-topic / Re: 73-Year-Old Michigan Woman Believed She Won Over $3M but got SCAMMED for $700K on: April 06, 2024, 11:27:09 PM
It is very important to note that any body who asks you to send money to claim your balance or winning or anything at all is 99% trying to scam you.

The thing is, these scammers are pretty good with the tricks and plots that they use to victimize people, and one wouldn't even understand that they are getting scammed because they use such wording, they approach you in a very good manner starting a conversation that doesn't make you feel like they are here to scam you because they wouldn't get to the point straight away. The scammer will make you feel unaware of what is happening or what is going to happen so that you don't suspect anything.

I have seen and experienced such things and I know how smooth they are in this craft. You will find a lot of such scammers in Telegram if you join crypto-related Telegram groups and channels. Someone like me or you who is experienced and knows such things wouldn't fall for their traps but someone who is new in the space would think they might have something good to offer because they would target people by giving them offers that they can't refuse out of greed.
184  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying the linked-to post in a topic (SMF patch) on: April 06, 2024, 06:54:40 PM
Reading the thread shows that OP was asking for personalized suggestions, basically the pov of other users. I personally will easily keep tabs on a reply if it is highlighted to me once I land on the page, even if hat fades of later. And it's a middle ground between having less obvious markers which can easily be missed and loud ones which will stand out too much in the page.

Try having some individualized opinions yourself, not so hard, eh?

Seems like you have taken it personally although my intention wasn't to make you feel that way. When we talk about personalized suggestions and opinions, they are supposed to be a solution to the problem being discussed. I don't see any value in a personalized suggestion that isn't in any way solving the problem. That was what I was trying to say if the marker fades away, there is no point in having it in the first place because you would still lose track of the post you were redirected to, you might be able to easily identify the posts but it doesn't mean it's a universal solution, and that is what is being discussed here.  Smiley

Talking about having individualized opinions myself, I did face the problem being discussed here all the time, however, the solutions discussed seemed perfect to me, so I didn't want to repeat anything, but since I didn't find your opinion suitable, I thought of pointing that out since all of us have freedom of speech in the forum and I have every right to do that.  Smiley

I will also want a more obvious marker, maybe a darker highlight that fades away after a few seconds on the page. Is this even a possibility?

What's the point of having a marker if it fades away or disappears and you will still have to find the linked-to post by re-entering the link in the URL bar? The actual reason behind this proposal is so that you don't lose the post that you clicked a link to and be able to find it easily even after scrolling up or down on the page.

You need to read this part of the opening post once again I believe because you clearly didn't understand the context of the change being proposed or implemented:

I also sometimes lose track of the linked-to post when I scroll around the page for a bit to get some context before reading the actual post (then, I find myself going to the address bar and hitting Enter so that the browser snaps to the right post again).

In the worst case, both of those situations occur: After landing on the relevant topic-page, you scroll around a bit for some context, then you use the Enter trick to snap to the right post, but that's not reliable for the last or second-to-last post, so you have to do the address-comparing thing too. 187  Economy / Economics / Re: Off Economic phenomenon. on: April 06, 2024, 01:20:00 AM
It is sad to say that this is not only the situation in your country but many other countries are going through the same situation.
Many small countries have almost reached the point of default due to borrowing from developed countries.

That is a sad reality, but who is to be blamed for that? I guess the governments and those who are in power and are misusing their powers by filling their pockets with the money they get from within their countries and then borrowing from other countries for development and other purposes. That is completely wrong but what can be done at the end of the day?

The currency of debtor countries does not have the same value as the currency of developed countries. When the value of a country's currency falls, it has to buy goods from other countries at high prices, and when goods are imported at high prices, they are sold at high prices in the country due to which inflation rises rapidly.

Such countries need to increase the production of goods within the country so that they can import goods as well to make the economy better. I'm pretty sure that any country in the world will have at least something to produce that they can export to get some funds in return for their economy.

I sincerely want my country to develop and not get into more debt and I believe that the people of every country want the same.

Who doesn't want that?  Cheesy Every citizen of a third-world or developing country would want their country to prosper and get out of all the bad economic situations so that they can live peacefully without any problems.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online casino gambling is more of profit chasers while land base is more of fun on: April 05, 2024, 11:39:34 PM
What is your opinion towards my research that online casino gambling has more of possesed players who stakes to make profits while the land base gambling is more of players who stakes for funs?

Research is supposed to be backed by data and analysis that shows what you are saying has reality in it and isn't based on assumptions, and I don't see anything like that in your post.  Smiley

Anyway, I don't completely agree with that because whether a person gambles for fun or profit depends on their mindset and style and not where they are gambling. You can find a lot of gamblers who gamble online just for fun and to push their time forward when they are free, similarly, you can find a bunch of gamblers in land-based casinos who are there to earn money and not to have fun.

It may also depend on one's financial status sometimes. Most gamblers in large land-based casinos are wealthy people who come there to make some bets and have some fun while having a drink with friends or a companion, whereas people who mostly gamble online are those who can only afford to use a limited amount for their gambling activities and they wouldn't go in a land-based casino with that amount, of course.
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 05, 2024, 07:56:09 PM
It's not as easy and simple as you are trying to put it. When someone gets scammed, they don't just give their money away to someone who comes to them asking for it. As said by other members, they have manipulative approaches and they will trick you in ways that you wouldn't understand that you are getting scammed. I know you can prevent that from happening if you have had similar encounters in the past, but if it's your first time and you don't see anything shady at that moment, you are most likely going to fall for it. And remember, a third person would know it's a scam if they are told but when a person is stuck in such a situation, they won't be able to easily identify that they are getting scammed.

Scammers are expert in their craft, and you would know it when you face it yourself. I was once getting scammed on Telegram. I was working with an agency, the scammer contacted me as the head of our team, and believe me, he had set his account in such a way that you wouldn't even realize that it is someone else. He asked me to lend him some money because he isn't able to access his account at that moment. I almost fell for it until I realized I already had an open chat window with the guy and it is not him.

The point is, they make situations where it becomes difficult for you to evaluate what's happening quickly, and by the time you realize that, they have already done their work and there is nothing you can do after that point.
190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Post Bitcoin Halving - Rewards, And Risks on: April 05, 2024, 03:01:24 PM
For newbies, bitcoin halving as the name implies means splitting in half in supply of bitcoin. And in the next 14days specifically, April 19th the halving will happen. Why the halving is so important to us is that with the reduction in the number of bitcoin in supply, there will be a price increase because there will be increase in the demand of bitcoin.

When you are explaining or describing something to people who don't know anything about it, you are supposed to make it clear and leave no doubts. The halving doesn't split in half the supply of Bitcoin, but it splits in half the block reward that miners get, which means that the increment in the supply of Bitcoin is split in half. When you say it splits in half the supply of Bitcoin, it sounds like the total supply of Bitcoin will get split in half after the halving which isn't true.

Aside the nice watches, travels and vacation, nice condos, I know that the bitcoiners love automobiles a lot and they will flaunt it at the slightest opportunity. And I will be on the look out to see those pictures of beautiful sexy automobiles when bitcoin is able to reach a new all time high.  I even expect that some of these bitcoiners who are automobile enthusiast take things a step further by customizing their license plates with bitcoin-themed vanity plates.

I don't find that approach to be practical, to be honest. If you are already rich, have a lot of money, and have invested in Bitcoin to get more wealth, it's understandable, but if you are struggling in your life, made some investment in Bitcoin, and got some money in the bull run, you shouldn't be buying materialistic goods for your happiness but do something for your future first. All of us love a lot of things, but we can't neglect our future just to get something that we have always wanted to have because that's not the right way to do things.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Number of new memecoin traders hits record high on: April 04, 2024, 10:00:38 PM
so I wanted to ask how to you see this craze for memecoins in the recent days.

To be honest, I'm not surprised by this considering the craze for meme coins among new investors after they have heard the stories about people who managed to earn millions of dollars with investments as low as $50 or maybe $100 which is an amount that most of the new investors can afford to lose, so they keep trying their luck with each newly launched meme coin thinking one of them might change their life for good.

It's just like a gamble, but most investors are completely okay with it because they want to be among those who managed to become millionaires through some of these meme coins. The craze is unstoppable among newbies, and you can see it all around social media.  Grin You will find hundreds of thousands of people sending certain meme coins to the moon, lol.
192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your next step if you experience a Great BEAR MARKET ? on: April 04, 2024, 07:14:10 PM
Op I'll like to add that, if you buy $100 worth of Bitcoin which is currently 0.0015BTC, and the price start dumping, in real sense it's only the worth of the Bitcoin in dollar or any currency you compare it to that reduces the value of the Bitcoin you bought remains the same. That is, you still have 0.0015BTC in your wallet but the value has reduced. It might dump as low as -50% which means your $100 worth of Bitcoin would be $50 but  your Bitcoin figure remains the same, it's only the value that changes.

Is that someone he doesn't know? I don't think so because based on what he has written in his post, he clearly understands how it works and that the value of the Bitcoins bought drops and not the amount of Bitcoins. Even an absolute newbie would understand this thing in my opinion.

Besides, the topic wasn't about this nor was the question asked by OP. He asked about what you would do in case the market goes down and you see your investment losing value and you see no sign of any bullish movements soon. A newbie without ample knowledge about the market would probably panic in such a situation and might sell at a loss. An experienced and seasoned investor or trader would make use of the opportunity and buy more if they have the funds for that.

Dips and corrections are a reason for fear in new investors while they are considered opportunities to gain more profit by old and experienced traders.
193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What makes a post to be quality? on: April 04, 2024, 02:10:36 PM
Both are equally important in my opinion.

English is not the first language for most of us here, but we have learned it through constant practice and speaking/writing here and there. To be honest, it's not that difficult if you have a general understanding of things and have basic reading and writing skills.

Coming back to the topic, a post that contains good content and is relevant can be considered a constructive post, but if it has no English or grammatical mistakes, it becomes better because the readers won't have difficulties understanding the sentences constructed.

A lot of people I see in the forum use a single word multiple times in their post. I know English isn't their first language, but one should at least have the basic understanding of how they should write a post and how to use different vocabulary for each sentence so that it doesn't sound bad or repetitive.
194  Economy / Economics / Re: When luxury becomes a necessity. on: April 04, 2024, 11:42:44 AM
I have heard following "money attracts money". Also people judge other by their look. Important to make first impression as good as possible. If you come on an investors meeting with an old Volkswagen Golf, I believe not many will have a desire to talk to you. But if you come with new Porsche, even if it is rented, people will have different approach to you. Not saying that this most important, but having luxury or branded items is one of indicators of success (but a person needs a to have a taste).

You are talking about it with a business representation mindset where a person needs to look good and professional to gain attention because someone who doesn't look up to a high standard will barely catch many eyes. However, that isn't necessary for someone in their normal life. You can't go around wearing a suit all the time just to show the world that you are living a luxurious life and that you can afford it, that isn't grooming your personality but it is showing off, and one shouldn't be doing that.

If you are earning a lot of money, have a bunch of businesses around the world, and have prepared for your future with your businesses and savings, and you can still afford to do that, go ahead, there is nothing wrong with looking good if you can do it. However, if that isn't the case, you are earning some money and spending it all on luxury items only to look good for the world, then you are making a mistake because your first priority should be to secure your future.

Spending money on grooming your personality all the time while having insecurities about the near or distant future makes no sense to me.
195  Other / Off-topic / Re: The challenges of protecting children from gambling on: April 03, 2024, 09:25:46 PM
Is there anything that can be done to protect children from gambling with reference to physical shops that they see everyday?

Yes, don't stop for a quick bet when you are with your children, and always keep telling them that gambling is a negative thing and one shouldn't gamble. They might come to know about it later on but they will remember your words and teachings and will hopefully not become gambling addicts.

When you want to gamble, you are not supposed to do it when you have your kids with you. If you feel an strong urge for gambling at some point when you are passing by the casino, just go home, drop the kids home, and then go back to the casino for making the few quick bets you were about to make.

Upbringing of children play a great role at safeguarding them from negative aspects of the society because they would have everything in their minds and wouldn't go towards things that their parents have asked them not to do.
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should be looking only at the brighter side on: April 03, 2024, 08:56:47 PM
I wouldn't blame those selling due to financial pressure. I think comparing that with other reasons for selling like negativity towards Bitcoin coming from others or your disbelief if its future is wrong. Being very optimistic about Bitcoin's future I myself was selling it many times in the past at pretty low price exactly because of the financial pressure at the moment.

I believe a person should never invest money in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies that are not spare which means that one should only invest money in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies if they know they can afford to do that without having any financial implications after doing that. Your savings and investment funds should be separate so that you don't invest your savings in Bitcoin and then be under financial pressure when you face an emergency in your life.

It's a mistake that a lot of people do and I never like it. I know that most people invest in cryptocurrencies because they want financial freedom in their lives and they believe it can be achieved through cryptocurrencies, it's true, it has the potential to get that done, but it doesn't mean you should risk your life-savings in it.

The market is volatile and that's why unpredictable. If you are investing money that you have been saving up for emergencies, and then the market goes down and unfortunately, you face a situation where you need that money. You would get a lower amount if you withdraw it at that moment which makes you lose money.

So, only money that one can afford to hold for as long as required should be invested in cryptocurrencies, in my opinion.

198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I learned something new from Bitcoin today on: April 02, 2024, 11:27:32 PM
So if you want to grow the capital you have, it's really good to dedicate it to trading and choose assets that you want to hold long-term. Because there are many digital currencies that can give us earnings, Bitcoin is not the only one in this field.

To be honest, trading isn't as easy as some people might make it sound like, and it's not a child's play to get together a budget, get into trading, and start growing the money. If it was that easy, I bet there would have been no unprofitable traders in the market but there are, a lot of traders who enter the market with high hopes but leave with their hearts broken because they don't get to fulfill their wishes and make their dreams come true through trading.

Many traders and investors, mostly newbies, enter the market with the thought that it is easy to earn money from here, and a lot of credit for that goes to some influencers and content creators who make it look like that by showing the positives and not telling them about the negatives of the industry.

Unless someone decides to dedicate a lot of time and effort to the learning process before they make an entry into the market, I wouldn't even recommend trading to absolute newbies.

Hi.
I have a question about the withdrawal process.

Since we are not given the option to choose the network, does it mean the wallet address we provide is used to determine the network, and fees are charged based on that?

What I mean to ask is, if I'm being charged $3 for a normal Bitcoin network transaction, I would pay less than that if I'm using SegWit, but since we are not given the option to choose that, does the platform automatically chooses the network and decides the amount of fee to be deducted from the total amount based on that?
