i'm in the US. any way to get one or two of those? i don't think people here in the US can go through the check out process on that website

i love seeing these kinds of things at raves. would you be able to post full body motion videos instead of just the edited one to see just the glow stick trail?
2204  Economy / Goods / Re: $800-900 computer component for 15 BTC on: September 30, 2011, 09:44:37 AM
this is even more pathetic than the people putting their wallet address to beg for BTC donations. you're asking for 15BTC just to show a link.....

hmm interesting. i assume you guys are only talking about phoenix based miners?

here you go, this should clear up any confusion:

non-reference

reference

reference will look like that no matter what brand. non-references will look different across different brands.
2207  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50GH/s] RFCPool.com - 0 Fee PPLNS - Live API, LP, SSL, Apps and more! on: September 21, 2011, 07:04:32 PM
i tried this pool and i like it so far. i do have a question though. i been mining for about 6 days, and i noticed i got paid more BTC than the expected theoretical. i ran at 1.5gh/s for a couple days, now up to 2.5ghz and in 6 days i got a little over 9BTC. is this because the pool has good luck at this moment finding blocks? or is there some kind of extra reward i don't know about? definitely not something i'm complaining about  Cheesy, but just wondering where these extra BTC are coming from.

performance-wise, model does not matter much. although, some of special editions are binned to be better overclockers, like sapphire toxic, XFX black, or asus ares. cooling does matter though, and different model have different cooler designs. if you're only using a 1 card setup or care about noise, then get a non-reference model, as they generally cool a little better and produce less noise. however, their design is less ideal for cramming  a lot of cards on the motherboard because they shoot heat everywhere, and the card on top will recycle and use the heat from the card on the bottom. this is where a reference design will be superior because they have a directional flow of heat/exhaust, although they do produce a little more noise
2209  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Gigabyte X79-UD7 on: September 20, 2011, 07:04:35 PM
I am guessing when it is released, maybe somewhere around 200 bucks.
lol not even close. that color and the series name (UD7) suggest that it's a high end board designed for overclocking. it's going to be $400+
2210  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FS] custom length PCI-E extension cables (with or without molex power) on: September 19, 2011, 03:15:52 AM
I am gonna need either one of these: pci-e x16 cable standard 19cm: $12 shipped each, With a molex power connector

Or one of these:pci-e x1 to x16 cable (v2) standard 19cm: $11 shipped each, With a molex power connector.

Still trying to figure out which one will best suit my needs.

-ST

there's pros and cons for each one. the normal x16 cable doesn't require you to short any pins on the motherboard slot, however the cable itself is a little harder to manage because it's wider than the x1 cable.

the x1 to x16 cable can fit in any pci-e slot, but you'll have to short the two presence pins on half the motherboards. here's one of my pics that i had to do that. it does offer better cable management and less cable clutters because it's not as bulky as the x16 cable, but it's just a hassle to short the motherboard pins together

2211  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Advantages of Multiple GPUs Unable to CrossfireX? on: September 17, 2011, 11:48:32 AM
You might need a dummy plug to get the two cards to run separately, but aside from that yes.
11.7 drivers and later don't need dummy plugs.

but yes, many people get a little better performance without crossfire, but a few people it makes not difference
2212  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FS] custom length PCI-E extension cables (with or without molex power) on: September 17, 2011, 02:14:07 AM
just lowered price to reflect btc market right now Sad
2213  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Radeon 6990 Rigs, parts!! on: September 15, 2011, 09:02:19 PM
looks like a nice deal for dual 6990 rig. do you have the specific model of the PSU and SSD? i'm assuming the PSU is a silverstone 1500w? it's the only one i can think of that's around this wattage.

and lastly, some pics and references would be nice
2214  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - Pay-per-Share Beta Pool on: September 14, 2011, 10:27:10 PM
i'm user ID# 216 in this new pps pool. i have a couple of questions/requests:

1) can you also add the "24 hour rewards" stats like in the regular btcguild? i'd like to see how close the payout is to the theoretical payout. if course, it should be about 7% less than theoretical, but it would be nice to calculate real numbers as well.

2) the total current worker speed has never been above the average speed at the top. if the average speed is correct, then the current worker speed should be above the average speed half the time and below it half the time. and when comparing the average speed to the phoenix miner speed displayed on my computer, my computer shows a few hundred mh/s higher. not sure why the stats on pps-btcguild always estimates it a few hundred mh/s slower. is this "loss of speed" due to network latencies?

3) was there some kind of mathematical analysis of how the arbitrary 7% fees were determined? why was it not 6% or 8%?
2215  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5970 vs individual 5870 cores on: September 14, 2011, 02:01:09 AM
a single 5970 has 2x 5870, but AMD has to downclock these cores to stay within TDP. like the last poster said, they are more similar to 2x 5850 performance with the downclocks
2216  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FS] custom length PCI-E extension cables (with or without molex power) on: September 14, 2011, 01:21:59 AM
what's the limit on cable length per the pcie standard?
there's no real set limit on what it should be. however, just note that pci-e signals are not designed to travel across long distances in risers/extenders because of noise or other interferences from nearby components. but for mining, in certain setups you just have to use extenders. that's why using the shortest cable possible might improve stability or let you keep your max stable overclocks.

2218  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What is correct procedure to unlock sempron 140/145 on msi 890fxa-gd70? on: September 13, 2011, 10:54:35 PM
unlocking the core is not guaranteed. the success of this greatly depends on that specific processor iteself, so if you're getting constant crashes, there's nothing you can really do. just leave it on single core.

why do you need to unlock for mining? only reason i can see doing this is the 100% CPU utilization bug is now 50% CPU usage since windows now sees 2 cores. but this still hardly makes a difference in power consumption.
2219  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HD 6850 Memory Clock Jumps to 1000Mhz Even Though Underclocked on: September 13, 2011, 10:51:53 PM
OP, you're not the only one. this is a very common problem for the 6xxx series cards. although some cards are lucky in that they can underclock memory fine, but majority has this memory underclocking limitation. refer to this thread:

2220  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 4X 6990 on MSI 970A-G45 on: September 13, 2011, 10:36:22 PM
it should be theoretically possible, although you'll most likely run into problems with mobo/windows/drivers accepting all 8 GPUs. and this is with the assumption you're going to use pci-e extenders with molex power connector. you're not going to be able to pull this much power (stably) through the pci-e slots of the motherboard. i can run 6 GPUs fine, but i start having problems with the 7th physical card. i think this is a limitation of my motherboard, not windows or drivers.

only place that sells these extender with molex power is cablesaurus and me i believe:
