Imagin that Bill Gates says Windows is shit, I am switching to Linux.
He is no longer head of Microsoft, so he could do that. But it's about people's mind.
Microsoft could post thousnds of press releases and it won't change a thing.
I am worried, since I am invested in both Voot and Sync (more in Voot, I admit) and I understand that such statements won't change a thing in people's mind. Only Bill Gates/MsCollec fixing his mistakes would.

It is unfair that Sync is suffering along with Voot. But it will continue until Voot situation stabilises.

I understand where you are coming from but SYNC can't do anything about the current problems with VOOT.

By constantly bringing up this issue you are only harming the SYNC community when it has nothing to do with us.  I too lost Voot but now that MsCollec has gone I have moved on.

The removal of MsCollec was the most that the SYNC team could do. They have done it even though MsCollec had not done anything wrong with respect to this coin.

They took a very tough decision in order to preserve the integrity of SYNC, the SYNC community and all the members of the team and to show that they did not approve of MsCollec's actions even if they were with a separate coin.

If the VOOT community wants MsCollec to fix their coin then that is between them and MSCollec.

The SYNC community should not be held to ransom in order to get VOOT fixed.  There is absolutely nothing further that they can do.

Now please, only discuss things here that relate directly to SYNC (otherwise it only seems like you are trying to deliberately crash the price of this coin to make yourself feel better).

Has anyone noticed this?

Yes it shows there is a lot of demand.

Great post

Thank you.  You're too kind:)

the price keeps going down? why?

MS is burning sync by association. He fucked up the situation with voot hard and lost a lot of reputation. I sold sync and voot as soon as MS said he would stop working on voot and then changed his mind and said he was serious. completely unproofessional.t

I refer you to my previous post.  MSCOLLEC is no longer part of the SYNC team.
2205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SYNC]X11|1,000 Coins| NiteSend| Sync Foundation | Manadatory Update on: July 30, 2014, 03:48:12 PM
REGARDING MSCOLLEC:

Just to clear things up : after discussion with the Foundation, he/she decided to step down for the good of the coin.

This is to prevent people bringing up VOOT to try to derail SYNC and damage the huge potential of this coin.  Whilst I too held VOOT and was angry about what happened that is a matter for discussion in the VOOT thread.

SYNC is a completely separate entity with a different philosophy and niche.  It has no association with VOOT.

REGARDING PRICES:

People seem to forget that prices fluctuate.  It's not always a straight line progressive rise.  After every big rise it is almost certain that there will be a dip as people try to take profits.

Those that know how markets work use this to their advantage and sell on the peaks so that they can buy back more in the dips.  This is how I originally got up to several SYNC in the first place.

I now only have 0.5 as I've been buying other coins to spread risk but will slowly increase my SYNC over time until it is at the same level again.

I do this for all coins I hold and slowly over time all my coin holdings grow together.

If you can't handle dips in price but TRULY believe in this coin - STOP looking at the exchange prices every day.

It will only frighten you and lead you into making poor decisions.

Also diversify your holdings so that you are not fully invested in one single coin.

- That way you protect yourself against falls in specific coins - so that even if you need to sell suddenly you don't lose the vast majority of the value you invested.

Right.  Have the latest build up and running for a few hours without any issues on my Mac.  Anyone having any problems with it please post.

Well there still seems to be no social media activity, tweets etc.  I'm just curious as to what the new social media member of the team is actually doing?  Even if there is no news about Britcoin there should be regular tweets relating to British culture, technology news, cryptocurrency adoption and so on as this can help to bring people in from a wider social group than those who already know about cryptos.   It also helps to give the impression that Britcoin is still active.

so how do i actually know that i am on the right chain?Huh

Check what block you are on with what the block explorer shows.  Currently 9023.

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/sync

In your wallet menu:
Click HELP>Debug Window>Information and it should say "Current Number of Blocks" (under BLOCK CHAIN)

Has anyone tried the new mac wallet yet?

I have managed to successfully synchronise, transfer my SYNC to it and so far no problems.  It is using ~0.1% CPU on my 2013 IMAC (CORE I7) now. During synchronisation it was between 1-3% usage (one would expect it to be higher then).

I'll report back after I've run it for a while and it starts staking.

Please add on your experiences especially if they are on different types/ages of Macs as it should make it easier to narrow down any problems.

I don't own this coin but a simple look at the OP confirms that the IPO was 500,000 and this corresponds to the 500,000 coins mined in the first block which is the normal convention.

THIS IS THEREFORE UNWARRANTED FUD.

No scam has been revealed (yet).  If the poster of the allegations had read the original post then they could have figured this out just as I have.

Guys there is a new build of the wallet (mac) for testing/solving people's issues.  Please be aware that this is a test build so install at your own risk until it is confirmed to work OK.

The only reason I think whale has bad connotation is because people are jealous. Most people wish they were a whale in crypto land.

Obviously:) but most people also like to believe that they are good and morally upright (Superman rather than Lex Luther). A more neutral name still looks better and plays better.  I think something along the lines of "High Roller" sounds better.  Whale makes me think of people like Woolong (you might want his money but you don't want to be like him or behave like him, even if you would in reality be the same).

no, i mean, wasn't there a profit program if you have < 1 SYNC you get bla bla, if you have >1 Sync you get bla bla, if you have more than 3 Sync you get Miles and stuff.

something about getting a part of the profit obtained from selling the assets of the sync fund?

I think you need 7 SYNC staking for that.   - The whale program ? (should probably change the name - whale has bad connotations in crypto- even "SYNC Superstar or High Roller" sounds better).

so what do i get if i have more than 1 sync? what is the advantage. I have less than 1 and am thinking of buying some.

A bigger piece of the pie like with any coin.  A potential for it to grow immensely in value.  I think that is enough for most people:)

Right now what looks really shady is the fact that there are multiple sell orders on Bittrex when it is an ICO and buyer wallets are disabled.  Who is selling it at different prices and why?  They are listed the way morons list ridiculous prices (1BTC each) etc. to try and raise the price.  This should certainly not be happening for an ICO where the developer team are the only ones selling.

Markus has been a developer thus far, providing everything he said he would when stated.

I can understand why some people would be concerned about the premine, but, this also is not an anonymous developer like most of the rest.  Yet, everyone jumps right on board when they launch a new coina dn are surprised what that anonymous dev is gone.

Markus, has been available all day every day since this coin launched, he has listened to the advice of the community and been very forthcoming the whole time.

I know a few of the people that hold a portion of the premine/bounties, me being one of them, most of them either have the entire amount left, or actually a lot more.  I am the the latter, I began buying at 100 sats all the way up to where we are now.  I wont be dumping my coins anytime soon either.

As mentioned, most of these bounties were paid out when the coin price was between 100-400 sats, when there was maybe 1-200 MH on the network.

Join us in the IRC channel #quatloocoin to chat more, you will get answers a lot faster.

I don't think anyone here believes any of you are going to dump the premine.  The problem is premines have such negative connotations at present that it scares new people away.

I haven't tested the new bot trader yet, as i'm on linux Cry

Could someone write a little review?

Also will there be plans for a Linux wallet? or do we have to run through programs like wine?

Maybe it will work with mono (linux implementation of .net), I did not have time to try it myself yet, but I will when I have time. Quatloo-trader does not work with wine, I tried that Wink

I'd be real interested in hearing if someone gets it working with mono.  The newest release of mono really should work.  But it has to be the most recent mono release.

I've tried but nothing actually happens when trying to run it though Terminal.  It just seems to be busy for about 30 seconds and goes back to a command prompt.  If someone could do a mac compile using the Mono developer software that would be awesome.

People dont realize that just because the earlier wallets still work (1.0.1, etc) they need to ONLY be using either 1.0.3.0 or 1.1.0.0. If you are NOT using one of these and the short new list of nodes, you are on the wrong fork and NOT getting stake....

Might also be useful to have an option to turn off staking for low powered/old computers that have issues.  I think the cryptographic part staking might be computationally difficult for older non-optimized and single core CPUs.

This might be a dumb question, but why would you need the wallet open at all times if you AREN'T staking?

Good point.  If you don't like to wait for the blockchain to update would be the only reason I can think of.

Do we have a specific time for when the fiat to Brit platform goes live?

We're still working out a few bugs and cleaning up the design right now, so it's hard for me to give you an exact date/time..  The last thing we need is a bad launch. Smiley

I understand.  Any developments on the PR front?  I know it's early days but I haven't really seen anything from the new team member yet.

I'm assuming they have already reached out to prominent members of both the crypto/non-crypto communities on social media etc ?  The whole point of PR is to be visible:)

We're currently working on our promo video, which is taking a bit longer than expected.  Hoping it will be ready in the next few days though. Smiley  We'll also get back on track with the Twitter(ing) too Cheesy

There really needs to be someone to do the social media side of things full time because that is the most important part of marketing these days.
