1401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Peerplays - First Ever Blockchain-Based Gaming Platform on: May 22, 2016, 08:23:16 PM
Peerplays crowdfund tokens are never going to be lower than they are now. Once the first 100k are gone, then it will be $3 each for the next 100k. Then the auction some months from now as outlined in the milestones.

We have no plans to reduce the price. Others outside of crypto want this, we have held off on such a deal because it would lead to centralized control over the DAC (Decentralized Autonomous Coop) of Peerplays, or DAO as Ethereum understands it.

We are confident that the crypto community, and even others will recognize the value in Peerplays and the impact it has in the $50B year market that it can serve better, faster, and cheaper.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Good you could clarify this as it would penalise early investors if you did lower prices.
1402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WINGS - Where DAO Unicorns Are Born on: May 22, 2016, 05:58:22 PM
Our goal is to support Eth and BTC (and other popular blockchains such as Lisk in future), enabling true multi-blockchain DAO's via Wings.

We are quite aware of a certain ICO/DAO "fatigue" lately, and are actively discussing the best date to schedule the Wings DAO.
Moreover, the Wings DAO will only start after we have the white-paper, prototype / testnet up and running and other tools and materials.

That's reassuring.  Thanks:)

I will publicly acknowledge that even though Bitland is not listed on ICO Countdown, it is not because he asked us for money.

We have had our differences on things, but I am not sure I would say that ICO Countdown is scamming.  He did his due diligence with Bitland, and for whatever reason didn't decide that we should be on ICO countdown.

No big deal.

However, in no part of the process did he ever ask for money, so I have to assert that as someone who was not included on his site, it wasn't because he asked us for money.  I am not sure if he has changed his practices, but anyone who wants to talk about this can Skype me at Larry.Christopher.Bates, and I can tell you that in my honest experience, when asking about Bitland Alex was simply trying to do his due diligence.  I am not sure what his credentials are, or what he has done in the past, but he did NOT try to extort Bitland at any point.

Cheers!

Chris

OK thanks for sharing this.  I also spoke to Sasha from WAVES who confirmed that at no point did Alex ask him for BTC/tokens or money either.  These points along with Scifi.rem's clarification I think illustrate that Alex was not extorting anyone to be on his site.

People may not agree with his reasons for delisting coins but it is his site and his choice.  Hopefully this closes the matter.

This is really interesting that this is happening. Me being very new to crypto and wanting to invest without getting scammed has driven me to analyze the thread content of as many new projects as possible. I totally missed the boat on BTC and some other great opportunities, so I feel attracted to ICOs. I know that this may not be in my best interest, but I, like everyone else, want to make returns like some did on BTC.

During my research, as have many of us, I've come to the realization that there is no way possible for one to keep up with everything, considering how fast these new projects are popping up. That being said, I have latched on to what we know as ICO countdown. This seemed to me a great idea to keep up with all of the new ICO's.

In following ICO countdown........

I don't think it is wrong to charge people for listing as long as you make it clear on your site that is what you are doing.  It is no different than a lot of listing services.  What is wrong is to list people then remove them if they refuse to pay you and then create some "reasons" which (may be true) but are not the reason for the removal.  If this is true then that is highly troubling and tantamount to extortion.

Also one of the things that has bothered me with ICOcountdown is that he lists things first and then seemingly does the "research" which leads to ICOs being taken down several days later (often after the ICO has commenced and some people have already invested).  Now this could be due to genuinely missing or overlooking information but if the allegations about asking for payment are true then again this paints things in a bad light.

I hope these allegations (regarding BTC payment requests) are untrue but until this question is answered ICOcountdown/Alex's reputation is in question.

It's funny how people are so money hungry that they can't even fabricate a basic mining farm. I hope everyone enjoyed the drama more to come tomorrow  Cheesy

I think you should answer the question about whether you asked RISE for BTC or not.

Bitmain is a company that sells bitcoin (and other crypto) mining equipment (I think they may even make them) and cloud mining.  They also have their own pool.  I think they are based in China.

https://www.bitmain.com

They're a decent company.  I've bought their miners (antminers) both directly and indirectly and they have worked well.
1410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WINGS - Where DAO Unicorns Are Born on: May 21, 2016, 10:07:36 PM
how big is Bitmain? turnover?

how much of a stake has Bitmain taken in Wings?

I doubt they'll answer either of those questions but it's important to know before investing.  I suspect Bitmain will be getting more for their money than the the regular ICO investors.
1411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: May 21, 2016, 08:44:52 PM
I hardly think expecting a price correction in any cryptocurrency qualifies as extreme pessimism (I'm surprised you do). I'm talking about the immediate future of the price of ether.

Well then we misunderstood each other.  Obviously there will be short term falls in price.  I'm talking about the long term price trend which I think for ether will be a continuing rise.

1412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: May 21, 2016, 08:30:43 PM
This thread subject is about the price of ether. If the DAO had of been limited to a small percentage of ether price movement would have been insignificant. Now we have an investment vehicle that represents a large chunk of a micro economy. When those funds get released the economy will need to convert millions into fiat to get these projects going. This is just true (people can't live on ether alone). The immediate future is either a very steep price correction or the DAO votes not to release funds.

I understand your believe in ether functioning as the fuel of a new economy with future DAOs and services. The problem here is the DAO is far to big a percentage of that economy and a price crash is likely for ether in the near future. Hopefully that economy can recover without souring a new generation of cryptocurrency enthusiasts.

Actually I would urge you to read more about how the smart contracts work.  Ether will not be paid out in huge chunks it will be paid out on a monthly basis.  Also as more projects get funded there is likely to be greater demand for ether due to the utility.

Slock.it is so far the main proposal and that will only accept payment in ether - where will the people using Slock.it get their ether from?  They will have to buy it using fiat which will create more demand.

If Slock.it takes off like an Uber or a Google then this would be huge for ether demand.  Nobody is saying this is guaranteed.  It is all a calculated risk but your extreme pessimism has the same ring to it that we saw when people said bitcoin would never be worth more than a few cents.
1413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: May 21, 2016, 07:39:39 PM
If the Ethereum is used as a fuel for the smart contract system as well as a currency to pay for service, it is valuable.

Yes exactly.  The more uses it has and the more it gets used then the more valuable it will be.
1414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: May 21, 2016, 07:29:23 PM
For the DAO to fund any projects the ether they took in needs to be converted to fiat. I read somewhere that one of the projects they were considering supporting was a car sharing business in France. You can't buy vehicles with ether and even if you could it would be instantly exchanged for fiat.

Basically the DAO has been used to drive up the price  of ether and as they spend those ether to support projects it will drive the price back down. Once the ball starts rolling people holding ether will sell as well.

The idea that the DAO ether are locked off the market is incorrect. Those ether must be sold to make investments. If the DAO does not sell it's ether to invest, the DAO will have failed as an investment method. The only locked funds are those of the individual investors who currently can't get out.

That's not entirely correct some ether will be turned into fiat but a lot of projects will actually be using more ether.  Slock.it for example will take payments in ether and part of that ether will be going straight back to the DAO.  Most of the early projects will likely have to be like this (due to the undetermined legal status of the DAO).

There is strong support for early projects to be those that grow the ethereum ecosystem for the mutual benefit of ether and DAO users (e.g. ether apps, exchanges like etherex etc.).  This will potentially lead to progressively more and more utility for ether resulting in greater and greater buy support.  It probably won't happen over night but as time goes on and ethereum use cases continue to increase then there will be continued upward pressure on price for ether.

There is no guarantee but these things are always risky.  It was the same in the early days of bitcoin.  Nobody ever thought there would be enough buyers to support a price of a dollar, let alone hundreds of dollars.

The momentum behind ether is now getting to the same kind of stage it was in about 2012/13 with Bitcoin so there is very big potential for growth there.

1415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to buy DAO tokens the easy way using Bittrex on: May 21, 2016, 07:27:15 PM
the main thing is when you transfer the DAO from Bittrex to the MIST WALLET and the DAO is there (((  ARE YOU forced to inverst in a investment or can you just keep the DAO and wait till it goers up in value I heard that they take 1/2 the DAO weather you like it or NOT )))))

You still don't seem to understand how it works.  Nobody takes your DAO tokens.  You can sell them at any time after the creation period.  I suggest you go and read the basics if you are confused (https://daohub.org/) also if you prefer go and look through the forums (https://daohub.org/forums.html) most of these points have been asked and answered multiple times there.

Is wings a Lisk DAO?

No.  Read the OP.  It could use LISK in the future though I think.
1417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: May 21, 2016, 02:53:37 PM
Well Ether seems to be continuing to pump since yesterday.  Is this just on the basis of the OKCoin/Coinbase news?  The DAO has slowed down and likely will stay slow until the usual mad rush that occurs at the end of an ICO but right now it can't be responsible.

There has been a real bull run now. Everything can't be rationally explained.
I have learnt to just enjoy the ride while it lasts.  Smiley

How long do you think it will last? The price is not rising fast now, it is in the consolidation stage at the moment.

I think the general trend will be upward due to the proliferation of projects that are using ether.  Obviously it won't go straight up.  There will be fluctuations, small dips, small rises, static periods.  Nothing just goes straight ups.  Also the dips allow people to buy in at a lower price.
1418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WINGS - Where DAO Unicorns Are Born on: May 21, 2016, 02:50:49 PM
how to differentiate the DAO and wing DAOs? they should have different name.

Good question.

The names are different.  There is "The DAO" which more or less resides at daohub.org and is referred to as "DAO", and then there is the Wings DAO which we think people will just call "Wings".

I think there will be a lot more confusion for practitioners of Qigong as they have a much different take on the meaning of "dao".

Besides the names the Wing DAO is different from "The DAO" in that the goal with Wings is to make a platform for people to easily launch their own Decentralized Autonomous Organizations.  We don't see a world with just one monolithic DAO.

If you could base this purely on Ether then imagine what would happen to ether prices?  They will skyrocket even further - that would increase the value of funds raised.  This will generate more hype and more interest.

That in turn would benefit the whole ether ecosystem.

It would be good if you could wait until some of the other ICOs are over and people can cash out first.  I'm all out of investment funds until then.
