You're looking like that old man yelling bitcoin is going to Z E R O!

It has alot to do with health, most people living in pain for long enough are more than ready to die.

Chronic pain is surely a big issue but health is not necessarily directly correlated with that. I think my larger point stands.

You are speaking like a person who has never experienced a certain level of chronic illness, poverty and ongoing suffering and struggles and ongoing deterioration over years and years and years - loss of energy might also be a kind of pain.. .. consider foggy thinking that comes with some of the conditions of screwed up systems, as well.  It's not like everything is working, you are banging 10s and you just have pain.. . .you might not even be able to bang a 5 (meaning 5 fingers)..

and that could be the easy stuff.. in terms of the basics, eating, eliminating, sleeping, exercise (is that even possible?).. coordinating how to eat.. and what kinds of foods can be eaten?  steaks ?  More likely chips and cravings for icecream (and not even the good quality icecream), which is not going to help energy levels to actually eat those substances that are imitating their lil selfies as if they were actually food.....

Might not even be able to hang out on the forum - thinking too foggy, can't concentrate... and trying to figure out logistics related to "the basics".. oh and did I mention needing to clean up the living space or self (that's not really necessary, is it?) and how to pay for these things, no one really wants to help.. and surely getting a payment from someone might not even be doable because mostly there are just collectors, including the landlord who does not seem to want you either.. and how to get the food-like substances from where ever the closest mart might be to the place that you happen to be living, until the sheriff knocks.

Have my last sMerit for this statement, Jay.
You might know, i have been there already too. I had something like "Long Covid", just that it was "Long some-other-viral-infection". Actually, i still suffer consequences after 10 years.
I quite look down on people downplaying chronic health conditions, like many looked down on me for "just being too lazy to work".
And for chronic pain, most people suffering from it get their health slowly wrecked by painkillers and/or opiates/opioids slowly.
I was lucky, because i found a remedy, quite by surprise. I experience fatigue and pain levels about 10-20% from what i used to, only my memory is lacking to get better accordingly, but i sense minor improvement in these areas as well. For the good, what i take in is not harmful to the body, for the bad, it seems to work only as long as i take it. Three to four days off it and muscle pain, fatigue, malaise and headache start creeping in again.

AFAIR, mindrust was one of the on-fire type of guys in WO. He was all hodl, hodl, hodl and a permabull.
Until that night...
For example, if i would talk bullish about bitcoin to people all day, then sell at the capitulation bottom (typically signaling the start of a bull market), i would feel somewhat ashamed of myself. However, i also stopped using his nick as a metaphor for this kind of weakness.

Don't you have those fast tests?
Over here there are pop in "test huts" outside shopping centers where you can just pop in and take a test, answer in 15 minutes.

No way to test for antibodies the fast way, yet.
Still the old fashioned lab blood serology.
Maybe you were meaning antigens (for testing current infection).

Not sure what they are testing actually, some signs just say "covid 19 test" others say "test if you have had covid 19" but that could just be to lure you in. I might stop by one today and ask.

Antibody test should be "test if you have had covid19" then.

EDIT: Sorry for messing up the quotes a little bit.

OT: Me observing the second GME short squeeze/ bubble thingy...

No squeeze IMO. Just some old style hype, with the new business plan, new CFO etc.

By the way, I gave up any dreams of an explosive short squeeze, but managed to sell enough so I'm now playing with house money. Not a lot of dough, but it does feel smug!

according to WSB it's just a gamma squeeze.

^ & ^^

Thanks. I used coinbase-pro for reference. Kraken should make more sense in that regard.

EDIT: Just registered me and wifey for SARS-CoV2 Antibody test (happening in about three weeks). Hopefully we can circumvent vaccination and restrictions this way.
Had a strange cough last year in february, lasted 3-4 weeks.

Thanks for this comment. Never thought of not needing to be vaccinated due to contracting COVID-19 in January. My work position is "sensitive" and there are strict policies regarding our health matters (can't disclose more, sorry). If having contracted COVID-19 makes vaccination pointless, then I won't do it (if I can avoid it). Will need to check it out.

An infection will make your t-cells much more responsive on virus presence, even if antibodies are low. This helps avoiding a serious condition when infected.
Vaccines are expected to have similar results. The spike protein of the virus is unlikely to change, so that is a common vulnerability of all mutations, once the immune system "knows" the virus. Antibodies are more specific to the variant (dna) which triggered the immune reaction.

EDIT: Once t-cell awareness is high, specific antibodies are produced way earlier by the body.

Is that happening again?

Looks like it is over again (from $347 to $216 today).
There is something funny about this stock...lol.
I am so happy that wsb does not care about bitcoin.

Yeah, i was pretty stoked, too.
However, i bought the share(s) to hodl 4ever, and that's what i do.
Would have made over +$120 per share, but as i said, this thing is my contribution to the WSB "diamond hands" credo.

Welp, vaccinated today guess I'll make through till the next one. Smiley

Ha ha, me too (Pfizer), not sure if they injected saline or something (completely inactive) as I did not feel anything, at least locally.
People who are vaccinated with virus vector vaccines at least report something, which may be indicative of a response (soreness, slight fever).
There is no way for me to check that they kept this stuff at -70oC. I might check for antibodies in 3-4 weeks.

Same here, barley felt it, super fine needle.

I think 18 days should be max effect timing.

Wow ... I get my vaccination not until next year, because here in germany they are slow as fuck and the politians were to stupid to get this right ...

1. there are countries in the EU that do worse. Not even far away.

2. if you want a safe vaccine, wait for VLA2001 (expected early Q4/2021)

Space elevator: the noob Newtonian dabbler in me has a question.

Won't a sufficiently high/massive elevator slow down this mudball's rotation? As in, longer days? Conservation of angular momentum and all that. Please make me feel safe again. Thanks.

If it was that heavy, what do you propose to anchor it to?  A large tent peg?

No because the space elevator is rotating the earth at the same speed as the earth. Also the material came from earth so it's still conservation of energy and mass.

It's mass doesn't matter because it's hanging from space.
You don't need to tether it because it's hanging down from space so you just need some concrete block at the bottom that weighs more than the counter weight in space.

Still some things that seem not right to me...

1. Gravity vs. weight.

Weight is a gravitational-realtive unit.

Questions:
Isn't the counterweight in space much lighter because of the distance?

2. Mass vs rotation.

As an example: When doing a flip/backflip you pull arms and legs to the body, to speed up the rotation (or you would just land on your head). There is no mass added/reduced and still extending arms and legs slows down the rotation. Since there is extended mass (but little, in relation to the planet), it has to have some effect on rotational speed too. Maybe the weight/distance problem from (1) adds to it, because you'd need greater mass in space to act as counterweight, which leads to

3. counter"weight" vs. payload:

The counterweight in space is lighter than the weight (payload) on the ground, because of the distance and lack of gravity, right? How would it be even possible to send the space-weight down and at the same time pull the ground-weight up?

These are the main aspects that just don't add up for me.
Or is there a very basic error i'm making in my assumptions?

What google trends says about "blockchian"? as expected almost zero results before the creation of Wikipedia page and that was in 2014.

More strange google have only 179 results for the word "blockchain".

Google didn't invent the blockchain. Otherwise, a search for "encryption" would deliver tens of thousands of results featuring the term "blockchain", along with some blockchain ads. Internet politics. Shitty as everything political.

Can that be done on a cheap notebook? The latest Ubuntu requires 4 GB of RAM and Win 10 requires 2GB, maybe it could be a good idea to install a Linux distro which is lighter and run a Win 10 VM above it, or try to run the software needed with wine or one of its many forks and wrappers.

It can definitely be done but it depends on the notebook how well it will perform. Throwing a bit more memory is always a good idea if possible.

While win10x64 will "run" on 2GB RAM, it will likely become a crawling turtle as soon as you run some minor or a major application/s.
The "superfetch" service (carrying a new name in win10 i don't remember right now) will further take up RAM and slow it down even more over time.
Future system updates/upgrades not included.

I used to run 4GB notebooks, but using win10 i had to set my boundary up to 8GB (at least!) for smooth operation.
However, you may find a virtualization software that is easier on the RAM and use an older but still maintained kernel/distro for lower hardware requirements.
Personally, i would well consider some drawbacks on a computer, but RAM figures would always be high.

Long time no haiku!
Thanks for reminding me, Bob.
So here we go now:

NFT it is,
non fungible tokens, eh?
Dug into it now.

Seems like a new trend.
But when i read the papers
i see no demand.

But what do i know?
BTC is what i know!
Better stay with it.

That's a long haiku.
Prolly the longest of mine.
How should i end it?

Enuff useless talk
I'll end this stream of words now.
