I'm quite surprised...

my last merit, well deserved.
Albert Einstein (likely) had Asperger's as well, by the way.
Elon seems to be like a big child, not only in a good way, but unstable and with low impulse control.

Europe is moving out of lockdown, i can jump for joy and hugging everybody.

It feels like a ton falling of my shoulder, what a relief!

Gym's, museums, libraries, theme parks, terraces, hookers and tourism will re-open!

I guess that depends on how you define Europe, Sweden never had any lockdown to begin with, and I'm pretty sure we are in Europe.
But congratulations to you who have been locked up by your own governments and can now roam somewhat free again.

Yes, but Sweden didn't need a lockdown, because most people behaved well, in accordance to WHO guidelines of expositions-prophylaxe.

I started with body weight exercises, but not to a degree they became effective, because tendons and joins started to hurt before i even got sweating or muscle burns.
Got into planking "by accident" and stuck a while to it, until i was able to do callistenics (sort of). Still doing a daily plank set, which is minimum work to keep my supporting muscles fit. Yeah, and the skateboarding would leave me with much more ankle, back and knee pains without it, too.
All the skateboarders of my age that i know (not even a handful any more) are lamenting about back and knee pains. I rarely do have em, but bruises start to take quite long to heal already. What in aging doesn't suck, though?  Roll Eyes

Ahhh.... I don't think you're that much older than me or the other senior citizens.. I can show you a video on youtube of a 91 year old woman doing weighted barbell exercises. So that's good motivation if you can't do it. She's also a "normal" person.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3585w9FmOGs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6GHHzIByOk

I'm biased towards barbells, but those are some inspiring people. They'll die within 10 years, but they'll be strong and not complain of back and knee pains until then.

Yeah, NOW i can, but i couldn't back then (from 2011 to no more than 4 years from now, actually). Body weight is still my preferred method, because i'm not that heavy and i can "adjust" weight by adjusting the angle to the gravitational axis. I just need something to hold on to, a pole, a branch of a tree, even a gate or fence will do.

Back brace. Even the little Home Depot soft one. They look stupid yes, but man does it totally solve the back problem.

I actually think I need to work it *more* and lose some weight. Semi-retirement has made me soft and flabby(er). It was actually feeling a lot better by the end of the day (endorphins kicking in?)

If I may suggest: try back exercises, deadlifts, squats, pull-ups / chin-ups ... start light or bodyweight then work your way up slowly, like take 2 weeks to go from zero to 10 kgs / pounds or something. You'll figure something out and your back will thank you.

I'd reccomend planking, though. up to 60 secs elbow, up to 45 secs side (both) and up to 120 secs back, as a set up to three times a day. Gradually increasing.
This is what made me sit and stand upright for hours with no back problems anymore.
Those moving exercises are bad for your joints mostly, especially using weights. You can do that later, when the supporting muscles are developed through planking.

I'm a believer of weighted exercises or resistance training, but I'm not opposed to doing planks. I just didn't do those. Maybe if you have difficulty trying to sit on a chair and standing up, then you might need a little bit more rehab type exercises. But if you can sit down, and then stand up, then you should be able to do at least bodyweight squats (or air squats, meaning, without a bar or weights).

I started with body weight exercises, but not to a degree they became effective, because tendons and joins started to hurt before i even got sweating or muscle burns.

Every time Bitcoin price fell to the low $54000 and then again pulled back, how long the uptrend will take resume?
Bulls might busy on other side, unless the bulls bought the dips won't see $60K..

There's constant uptrend, and also outflow from exchanges.
Just these regular dumps to certain ranges start to smell fishy, but it can't go on forever.
Some characters take advantage of some kind of manipulation, and regarding the price and periodic aspect, i think it's about accumulation.
More on the conspiracy side, regularly pulling down bitcoin to make it look unprofitable could also be an explanation - could be, but that's all conspiracy theory for sure.

BTW, Graysclale is currently corn-holing their bitcoin investors (like myself in IRA) as GBTC is at almost record discount to btc (fluctuating between -15-18%).
Someone wants off of that wagon (GBTC).
Why Wall Street ALWAYS making s-t out of everything?

That's their job. Exploiting opportunities for their own gains and shit on other's heads at the same time.

Time for bed. I'd like to place a wake-up call for $61,000 please.

Been pretty busy lately, building, planning, constructing, building, repairing.
This week it's not too bad to NOT have time to check the BTC price too often  Wink
Alts are the new stonks now?

EDIT: Can't remember to whom i talked about e-drums here lately, but i managed to get a used Alesis dm10 pro mkII in good (refurbished) condition at a bargain price.
It has about 8ms latency on the heads, which is good enough for me, as it's a learning/practice kit for the family. There's a slightly longer delay on the cymbals, but i can barely feel it. Might depend on settings, too. The decision to buy this one was based on the extra 12" tom and 2nd crash cymbal, extra snare stand and an X-Hat, which is a "normal" 2-cymbals variant for open/half open/close sounds, mounted on a regular hihat stand.
I would have liked a Roland for 4ms latency, but there were none available used nearby, and i don't even remember one within the last few months when i was looking for used e-kits occasionally.

EDIT2: BTC, if bouncing right now at around $56.200 should be fine.

1934  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2021, 06:14:09 PM
I'm thinking about a Roland or Yamaha e-Kit lately, time to teach the kids playing the drums BUT i hate the sound of those rubber muting pads, while i prefer real drumshells/heads, though...
Or do i just have luxury problems?
When it comes to instruments, i'd say: for sure!

Books and instruments: the only goods I can't resist buying without remorse...

I've got the "old" Roland TD9 set with upgrade. A billion sound kits of which I use (and like) only one, but that's all you need, rite.

I remain impressed by the realistic feel of these pads (I've played on far less comfortable acoustic sets), but I'll never get used to the sound of hitting them. It's difficult to ignore, especially if you keep the volume low in your speakers or headphones, as I do.

No thing like the real thing, but if like me, you have direct neighbours, there's no alternative and therefore I believe it's a perfectly acceptable compromise.

A used TD-9 will cost you hardly BTC0.0125 at actual USD price, so if the kids change their mind, you'll not have to go begging in the streets to fill that hole in your holiday budget. Cool

What do you mean by "old"? Are new editions, and how can i distinguish them from the "old" one(s)?

In my area, they are a bit more, like $800. Still, for a good, responsive e-kit - not too much.
By "in my area" i mean the closest one about a two hour drive away, about a dozen in a city about two more hours by car.
I would want to have a look at least and try out the kit(s).
But i can wait a while, i guess. I was living now for over ten years without hitting drums, with the exception of steel tongue drums and a cajon  Cool
1935  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2021, 05:55:49 PM
Hmmm... lots of colleagues around here, it seems. There are a few more I know for sure, but they're keeping silence in this discussion.

I will put drums on any song you like.  Wanna hear a sample?

Here... i was setting up a bunch of mics on this low end "too many toms" kit I have in the studio right now and wanted to hear a balance of the kit and also make sure all the toms were making it in OK which is why it's so masturbatory. Wink

What a show off! Want a bit of criticism? All right, OK, I'll STFU. Tongue

Well, the timing isn't perfect *runs*
LOL - He didn't play to a click track or metronome, that's why. I was always bad at playing to click tracks, but the groove is pretty cool and shows quite some ambitions.

Trapping in a room with windows is useless.
Better even out the reverb times with Helmholtz resonator panels, gives a natural, not too dead room sound.
Ultimately, you build a floating room in the dimensions you want the low frequency resonances/standing waves to be wiped out.
You'd need some more Bitcoins for that, though  Wink

Do you have good experience with Helmholtz resonators? I wanted to have a taste, and I built a "bottle" (box, not panel), but I found the resonant freq can get amplified, especially in the case of a narrow-band Helmholtz box - that is, the ones without any absorption inside. According to my sources, a thin layer of absorption (rockwool etc) inside the box will "smear" the freq response of the device, which is usually desired.

Not willing to invest too much in treatment with an uncertain bang-for-buck factor, or possibly even detrimental, I dropped the Helmholtz project. But if you have a good experience to report, or can point me to reliable sources, I'm totally willing to reconsider. As it is now, I'm fine with my extensive rockwool paneling, but a little more low and low-mid absorption, shorter RF times etc., can never hurt ;-)

I know helmholtz resonator panels only in theory and by listening to before/after room samples.
Successfully using them means precise measurement of the room, to know where which frequency ranges have to be trapped.
Good room were sounding like crystal clear, but more alive than the usual damped-to-death counterparts. I heard rooms with reverb times of 0.3 to 0.5 secs.
Awesome.

Getting rid of reflections from the mixing desks and outboard racks is maybe as difficult as controlling reverb time over frequency bands.
Best listening/recording environment is open space (in the desert for example.

Doge taking BTC down with it and ETH only mildly affected. Not a good look, when a shitcoin can bring down the gold standard in the space.

Ok, a little education time.

Shitcoin indexes are tied to Bitcoin, and thus shitcoin bot trading will move up and down with BTC price.

If whales want to dump shitcoins and really move those markets, they will also dump some BTC at the same time. When btc dumps, shitcoins dump more.

And that's exactly what they did.

Who didn't see the big Doge dump coming on Elon's big night on SNL? I knew that's what the whales were gunning for over a week ago.  Roll Eyes

So no, the doge shitcoin did not "bring down Bitcoin". Btc was dumped on purpose.

Yep.
Looking at the hourly, from May 5th onwards you can see a clear uptrend channel, where btc price is oscillating up and down.
Supports your thesis, imho.

We hit $59k already. We can't always only go up, short term.
1937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk is for crypto or just for attention to boost Tesla, SpaceX? on: May 08, 2021, 07:29:25 PM
Elon Musk is a cult figure for some of the smartest people on the planet. So what he's doing with the Dogecoin baffles me.
I mean, they say the Internet doesn't recognize any form of hierarchy, but I think Musk has delusions of god-like grandeur.
Basically, he is kind of joking around.
DOGE is THE prototype of a useless coin or "anti-bitcoin".
According to his "fate loves irony" statement, he propagated DOGE because he was sure that it will pump some day.
It became a self fulfilling prophecy, also because of his tweets.
On the other hand, following twitter for at least a whole Bitcoin halvening cycle, you may be aware that some - probably many - other people also wrote tweets like "DOGE!", "DOGE TO THA MOON!", and so on, which didn't get any attention.
Honestly, who DIDN'T think that DOGE will pump after Musk's related weets. I wonder if he took advantage or if he just did it for the lulz.
This is the first time I have seen someone say another coin is the anti-bitcoin. Embarrassed

What makes it so unappealing to the bitcoin maximalists and not some other coin such as ethereum? Undecided

Anyways the last tweet from elon really rallied the musketeers right before the big show tonight.

Think this will be the movement to mass media, whether that be good or bad for bitcoin, that crypto was waiting for.
I am not sure if I have succumb to the FUD but I think most who have suffered in the past year from what has been going on in the world (and still is!)
needed a break of this kind even if it is just a joke! Cheesy

Sorry, by "anti-bitcoin" i wasn't meaning "bitcoin killer" (lol).
Anti-bitcoin in terms of anti-active development, anti-scarcity and anti-useful (and more), so kind of the opposite of Bitcoin in the cryptoverse  Wink
It's just a joke, but twitter peeps took it too serious. Good for Doge, anyway. But honey badger doesn't care  Cool

In my later years, I find I love tiny Class A guitar amps. Forget that Marshal double-stack...  If you get it on the cusp, you can go from clean to HEADBANGER with just a  small change with your picking hand. I'm still learning.

Joe Walsh's solo on Rocky Mountain way was with a Fender Champ (5 Watts), cranked up to 11, and close-miced into the board.

I have a great hand-wired 18-watt Marshall clone. It makes me wish I was a better guitar player.
