1501  Other / Off-topic / Re: Donations to Provide Funding for Biliary Atresia Surgery for Infant [SUCCESS] on: October 21, 2021, 07:22:50 AM
We made it! Thanks to everyone who helped!

I updated the OP, but we ended up with around P624,000, which was more than the P500,000 requested. That excess $2,000 or so will be very useful to help with travel expenses and the various follow-up medical care. Also, I will continue to update this thread as I get more information.

We achieved the goal. Thanks to everyone who donated! I am confident baby Ethan will remember you as he gets older and is aware of who helped him.

Anon Bitcoin OG could snapshot this thread as local, static html version and save it somewhere for later display.
I'm glad it worked, what a fine community. For my part, i was thinking how much bitcoin did for me, so it was easy to give back a little.
Have a good time!

It all started with a doc's recommendation to do cold showers once a week. In the end it became an addiction to breathe deeply in a very relaxed way, squatting in cold water while watching the morning sky.

That just mage my balls shrivel up!

You can't even imagine what it does to penis size, temporarily  Wink

Yep, but duration of spreading is less in vaxxed persons.

Not sure about that one either.

Not so much regarding the Delta variant, you're right (a bit).

They all had (two still have) a hard cough and congested sinuses, while i only suffered a little fatigue and scratchy throat.

Actually that’s how I like to distinguish between variants.
Runny nose, scratchy throat for a couple of days? > same variant
Cough for 3 weeks? > different variant

I know it sounds silly.

Silly? Not in my ears.
It started the same way with the kids, just that it developed further into their lungs, while my immune system kept the virus from entering mine.
The wife was the best, she had a scratchy, runny nose at worst, on the same day when my symptoms kicked in. She's also the type that gets sick about once a year, gets high fever, shivers and comes out fully restored two days after, at the latest. She has some allergies, so maybe her immune system is constantly in a kind of alert-ready mode?

That would be cuntries, then, right?
counts were next in line to dukes, hierarchically spoken.

Covid19 vaccines do help at some point.

Not sure about that one.
Natural immunity seems to be superior - against all of the virus proteins, not just one.

Additionally, covid19 leaves you ending up with antibodies  in the tissues of the upper respiratory tract. Vaccines don't do that (yet).

They are far from perfect, especially when it comes to spreading and fading of efficiency over time.

A vaccinated individual, spreads and contracts - at least - equally to any other unvaccinated individual.

Yep, but duration of spreading is less in vaxxed persons.

It's a simple calculation: If you have a precondition that makes you get into trouble by Covid in 90% of cases, and then you have the vaccine, which protects you from trouble in 90% of cases (at best), you're 50% safe.

Sorry, is that proudhon math or something?

Powell was on the wrong side of this probability, and when he was fully vaccinated half a year ago, he even was in the "below 25% safe" area, which is not much better than the "below 10% safe" area he was before.

As Bob mentioned on WO, Powell died with COV.

Yeah, you can look at it that way too, of course.

at the time my family is suffering from some of the pandemic's side-effects. The social distancing, masks and sanitizers left our immune systems untrained and weak. Just a flu, nobody will die from it or suffer long term consequences but it just SUCKS  Angry Angry Angry

It sucks, but do cheer up. Let your immune systems do the work, beats any flu/COV vaccine anytime.

I'm blessed. I have hyper-reactive immune response, though my system was weak becaue of exhaustion for years. Now it's strong, and i was working quite a while on it.
They all had (two still have) a hard cough and congested sinuses, while i only suffered a little fatigue and scratchy throat.
I take a dip in the pool almost every day for 1-2 minutes, and recently the water was roughly 5 degrees away from freezing. It all started with a doc's recommendation to do cold showers once a week. In the end it became an addiction to breathe deeply in a very relaxed way, squatting in cold water while watching the morning sky.

What are the chances of a double top reversal? I need to keep stacking

That would mean below $28.xxx prices and falling?
Out of the blue, very soon?
Unlikely.

See, I have a funny feeling we gonna come down to $50k and hang around there for just a more few months

Legit, why not? Bitcoin is pretty volatile at these early levels, and always up for a surprise.
Still, i doubt it.

The momentum is great. We needed to break $60k several times to stay on top of it before china got out. This time we just went through the magic number barrier in a matter of a few days and we're still rising.
Thrilled what will happen at/after breaking ATH...

Dumb question:
So you mean i can rent a 40-bucks-per-month linux VM with 2TB hdd space at some random hoster, set up a full and lightning node over tor and i'm a node operator?
I only require to make $40 in fees (minimum) to finance the vm.

You could try?

Honestly not sure how to answer that. I'm doing a lot of active channel management on the node, on a daily basis.

From what i've learned about these nodes is that you have to do a lot of active channel management to make it serve in a profitable way, among other things like practical understanding. It's not suitable for set-and-forget operation, imo.
Need to ask somewhere else on this forum for rented vm experiences. I just don't have the right infrastructure/isp to run a node privately at home 24/7, also i suffer from at least 3 power outages each year. The longest duration off grid was 9 hours. Neighbors, who are supplied by landlines coming from a different city were off grid for two full days when the power poles collapsed in a row after the cables were torn apart by a falling tree. It creates a kind of "pulling-force wave" in both directions from the breaking location.
1512  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 19, 2021, 06:45:38 PM
Hoe much did you have to "invest" in your node to "earn" ~+$2k USD, and how long did it take?

Playing with 4BTC total liquidity. Built up to that over a month. Not inclined to add another coin to the node at this point. Think I've provided enough liquidity for now. Can't be sure how I ended up on the BOS List, either, TBH...

By the way, you remember Raja_MBZ ~

Or even thinking of Billynocoiner..

He wasn’t gonna buy back at 30’s ….. price wasn’t good yet etc

I have to say… I thought Raja was one of the guys with good knowledge etc

Pity I was wrong, not for myself but for the dude …

I didn't even remember Raya "opting out".
Afaik a good guy, so also a loss for the WO community.
However, bad examples keep us to remember how we won't do it.

EDIT: fixed the fucked up quoting.

Is this the time were the vaccinated start to panic? [creating the need for nanotechnology enhanced drugs/vaccines]
Maybe not yet, but surely, there must be a scene like that somewhere in the play.

In a brief statement, the Powell family said he had died on Monday morning from COVID-19, had been fully vaccinated against the disease, and thanked the medical staff who cared for him.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/obituary-colin-powell-us-military-leader-first-black-secretary-state-dies-2021-10-18/

Before anti-vaxxers complain about the vaccine, those complications was a result of multiple myeloma, a blood cancer which wrecked his immune system and he was 84.

Thanks, well worth a mention, didn't read about that on the MSM today, and it DOES make a huge difference in efficiency of the vaccine(s).

Is a shitcoiner considered a nocoiner?

I'm trying to save myself from something dumb I may have said.

It wasn't dumb IMO. The speaker being an important, famous guy in the cryptocurrency world doesn't make him less of a nocoiner if he holds no btc. Even further, if hypothetically someone held, say, 100$ of shitcoins and 0.5$ of corn, I would stretch the term a bit and call them shit-nocoiners. On the contrary, someone holding 100$ of btc and 0.5 of shitcoins could be called a no-shit coiner.

Can a doge investor like savetherainforest guy be considered a dogshit-coiner?  Grin

I don't understand why any long term holders are selling at these levels. The rocket is just igniting and weve already been at this level this year.

it's ok to take a minor piece off the stack if you actually have a good use for the money.

EDIT: Even if unlikely, if i wake up to a new ATH tomorrow, i wouldn't be too surprised. But then the real fireworks are starting...
1519  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 15, 2021, 05:43:32 PM
just sold a piece for 60k

Last night I sold a small sliver of my BTC stack at some $59,500.  Taking profits is not a bad thing for essentially any investment that has had a sharp price run-up.  OK, my timing is not great, I have known and mentioned that here many times.

*   *   *

The problem I have with being "All-Inn" with just BTC is that there are unknown risks out there ("Black Swans").  Most (not all of course) of my thinking follows that of most of W.O.  But with Black Swans (by definition not knowable), there really are unknown risks.  Unknown risks are why I diversify.

That said, I agree with Saylor (and the band of warriors here at W.O.) that BTC is likely (note word "likely") the Apex Asset.  But, you never know...:

"The Ten Thousand Things rise and fall without cease"

-- Lao Tse

EDIT: just saw BTC price cross $61,000.  "Shoulda sold that slice this morning"  Ah well, I did write that my timing is not the best...

That's just the ol yin-yang thing. You start to build trust, doubt arises proportionally. it's your higher self (bull) that balances your decision against your frightful ego (bear).
The goal is not to stay strong, it's to stay alert, confident and balanced in your decisions.

As of "black swans", i'd recommend you to not even dare to think into that too much. Just consider black swans as fate and go ahead. The next black swan can as well be an asteroid wiping out earth or a massive radio/solar storm killing electronics on at least one half of the planet.

EDIT: The essence of Lao Tse's teachings is to accept.
1520  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 15, 2021, 05:38:51 AM

Not excited at all.

ETFs are allowed by SEC so that the powers that be can sell something they don't have (bitcoin) by pledging something they have in unlimited amount through the $$$ printing press. By creating unlimited amounts of paper gold they controlled the price of gold. They'll attempt to do the same with bitcoin!

Fiat is dying, and if they can artificially suppress the price of BTC in the meantime, that just gives us more time to stack cheap sats.

That's the way. I remember reading "we're still so early" more often recently on twatter. 2017 all over again?
