From what I've seen so far, Federer is struggling a lot. He's still good enough to beat most of the players on quick surfaces and will probably go past Sonego, but after that he has to face Medvedev who will probably be too much for him.

It's truly impressive to see how Federer is still going strong but I'm also a bit sad because the newer generations will remember this Federer - who is vulnerable and is struggling. I'll always remember the one that simply crushed anything in front of him and who glided on the court without even breaking a sweat while delivering worldclass offensive tennis match after match.

I hope he wins this Wimbledon as a crown of his career - but it would really be a surprise. Even for him.

Reading this made me feel sad indeed. He is 39 now and in my mind he is still 20s, strong, and smiling, and the whole world before him,,, it is very sad to see him play even though he won a straight set yesterday almost effortlessly (except first one). If he wins it will be labeled one of the greatest of all time, watch him!
2222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Beach El Salvador - facts please ? on: July 06, 2021, 07:35:50 AM

3000 so I would assume even if the young adults are the largest population then let us say 1,500 people are potential Bitcoin users,,, it can be a start to make it a model village but let us see. I am now wondering about experiments like this and if any of them have been successful but I am reading about a place in South Africa that tried this and it has worked. This one linked,,, but it is a bit racist but a good example to use which the lesson learnt is, you have to make the crypto fill a real and urgent need.
Thats a really good article - thanks, I hadn’t heard of that place before. As you say, I certainly don’t believe in their political views, but the idea was good - if only they had used bitcoin ?

I would probably get killed over there as I am not from their preferred race,,, Smiley but yes, I do agree that this is the way things are done. The need and the desire for such things as independence and self determination must come from the community themselves.

So it does not matter if the president says he wants Bitcoin,,, if this village on Bitcoin Beach wants it, then they have to prove it and do something.

I do not know why those South Africans did not use Bitcoin, but maybe they just wanted something for themselves.
2223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Mining Cause Global Warming? on: July 06, 2021, 07:05:00 AM
I guess what OP is trying to say is that it contributes to global warming,,, which of course at some point it does, but then the problem here is people are attacking Bitcoin as a single entity, saying it is like the size of a small country when it comes to electrical consumption.

But people want to ignore that it is providing security for a trustless and decentralized form of money, that is the bigger issue they need to be convinced of.

Even when we talk about Bitcoins electricity consumption, Even in China, I believed that Bitcoin miners most have been using some other form of clean energy too other than just coal-generated energy. Why would Hydropower plants go on sale in China amid mining crackdown and bitcoin slump This just prove that, all those talk about bitcoin consuming too much energy generated from coal is just nonsense, no one ever talked about this part until now that the Hydro plants are closing off too after the crackdown.
Everything is part of Global warming and not just bitcoin.

Indeed,,, global warming is an issue and it is getting more and more serious as we move on with our lives. Yesterday, the antarctic recorded an all time high record of 18+ degrees Celcius. Can you imagine the coldest place on earth feeling like morning time in the tropics?

I think this argument is not about Bitcoin being bad or good at all,,, and yes, we should do something about coal powered mines but we all know that power is being needlessly used in a whole lot more things than mining crypto. And again, if we prove Bitcoin is a necessity for finance, we will get somewhere.
2224  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Preferred Escrow and why? on: July 06, 2021, 05:57:44 AM
Hi OP. I will not add to whatever else people have suggested here,,, this is a forum full of super trusted Bitcoin persons BUT this may not be something a total outsider will be comfortable with.

I recommend to look at companies which offers professional crypto escrows, which could be something people would trust more (actual company rather than individuals). Coinpayments was one I had personal experience with but you have to check if they still do it as they used to.

Another company in UK is Escaroo which is UK based and they may be more attractive as a trustless smart contract,,, but you have to of course trust Ethereum instead of people:)
2225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gov must have power to reverse transactions, says co-chair of blockchain caucus on: July 06, 2021, 05:26:16 AM
What kind of “blockchain” will that be? Or does it really need a “blockchain”? Wouldn’t a MySQL darabase be enough for that, with signing entrusted to a central financial entity, and monitored under the the watchful eyes of the government?

I totally agree with you here. But I guess systems already have similar database and it is too difficult to use and maybe not secure enough. I do not know the answer:) But blockchain should have improvements over traditional database in terms of recording accurately and timestamping I guess.

Ahh, I see, and it is a fair point. Some people are just not ready to "be their own bank". Making wallets as user friendly as possible could go some way to help with such issues. If there are still concerns, then there is no reason your grandparents couldn't use some third party solution to hold their coins for them, which would prevent them making double or triple spends to the same address without additional authorization. Or you can simply contact the company in question to have them process a refund. Or you could have your grandparents appoint you or a relative as a legal guardian over their financial matters.

There are a variety of potential solutions to such issues, but I don't believe that compromising what bitcoin is by making transactions mutable or reversible in any way is the correct method of addressing such concerns.

For sure,,, and we cannot blame them or even ask them to. In most of the world people are not even ready for digital money or digital banking,,, what more to say Bitcoin and keep your own private key safe and sign and broadcast. My grandmother writes her pin down in her wallet for her bank card which she anyway always makes sure one of her grandchildren is with her:) So yes, with her for example we already did a lot of things whenever the banks moved. Imagine teaching SMS. And telling her all those fake calls from the bank were not to be trusted. And then entering her account online. I would probably give up and cry if we had to teach her Bitcoin, even if using 3rdparty wallet (more user friendly but still not as easy. Now we need only to "give her a payment request", she taps, it opens bank app, she puts in password, paid. Instantly. Free, With no hitches.

I do agree though of course at a certain point, we do not need to change Bitcoin. There are many ways, to have 3rd parties, or us. But in this case I do think a government running its own blockchain would for sure want to have that power. Maybe not in developed countries (minus USA haha). But if you ask our leaders here,,, they would want to control the sun if they could.
2226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why women are the minority in crypto land? on: July 06, 2021, 05:16:05 AM
Oh my god,,, why are women a minority in construction or in international sports like football?

I think it has been discussed to the death,,, but let me tell you, it is pointless to make any industry more diverse just for the sake of it.

It is not that women have less or no interest. They just simply take less risk. And this means a lot of the crypto men are not even users but speculators. I bet if it comes down to REAL use you would see more even men and women numbers.
2227  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What should we do in the sideways market of Bitcoin? on: July 05, 2021, 03:14:06 PM
Just think that every drop is an opportunity to buy more. I take some last week as the entire market is dropping and I'm not looking for BTC alone but also for potential altcoins.

Thus, if you have money, take this chance as well. But if you already have Bitcoin in your wallet, better to keep it, or you even buy more.
Anyway, it's up to you if you will follow us. All I can say is that to think twice before making a decision or else, regrets will follow.

Only if you are a trader I guess,,, or a guy with a lot of money. For most people doing regular DCA like me, we just keep buying as long as the time comes and we have spare cash. Does not matter the price.

Of course,,, the longer price stays low like this the happier I am as I get closer to my BTC value amount faster. So all good:)
2228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 05, 2021, 01:33:58 PM
Rewards for offensive I hope but they will look at Spain and France and realize 2 goals cushion is NOT enough.
Indeed, it would be better to keep scoring more goals because of course that would make it safer when keeping the lead. But unfortunately, when a team can score a lot of goals, at the same time it is also very possible that the team does not have a solid defense. Therefore, playing with a counter-attack strategy would be a good option but somehow, I'm sure in this quarter-final match they will play more cautiously.

Looks like England totally looked at Spain and France and scored much more than the 2 goals cushion they needed;) So happy for my favorite man Harry Kane. He never complained the whole tournament just like at Spurs even if he goes 20 to 30 minutes without ball service.

It seems 5 straight matches now with no goals conceded makes England undoubtedly the best defence,,, and they can score if they play well at the same time!
2229  Economy / Speculation / Re: 22 july, BTC 20k$ or 70k$? on: July 05, 2021, 01:00:20 PM
There is no more room left for drops. There has already been a MASSIVE 50% drop and the only direction left to go is up. The moment $40k is broken price will shoot up to $70k.

I like the idea of this but I am also very well aware that Bitcoin has dropped 85% before in the past,,, of course nothing compared to 95% of ETH drop and other alts but shitcoins are very famous for 99% drops! The question for most of us is not really whether it will drop more, but when is the next ATH and exactly how high we can go before we prepare for winter.

We are now 2 weeks away and we are still closer to 20k than 70k,,, so of course people are getting worried. Let them!:)
2230  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Binance P2P on: July 05, 2021, 11:38:02 AM
I would never ever recommend you to use a platform without doing at least one tier of verification (if  that platform allows verification). Most of them have a very small trigger treshold,,, and you do not want to be depositing and trading and then suddenly be asked to verify (and you cannot).

Actually curious about Binance P2P sometimes but it is just another form of Localbitcoins (your coins held on custody).
2231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gov must have power to reverse transactions, says co-chair of blockchain caucus on: July 05, 2021, 11:05:04 AM
Back in the day immutability was a big thing but I guess practical considerations mean we have to make concessions on some of these traits. Or do we?Smiley
What practical considerations? What the government sees as practical is not the same as what we see as practical. Bitcoin has functioned just fine for 12 years being immutable, being censorship resistant, being free of third parties, and being decentralized. Obviously the government isn't keen on any of these things, but that's a problem for them, not us. They can rant and rave all they want - at the end of the day, we do not need their permission to continue to use bitcoin as a peer to peer currency as it was designed to be.

If the government want to launch their own centralized shitcoin, taking in to account these "practical considerations", then of course they are free to do so. Just don't expect me to use it.

Practical like my grandparents who keep asking me to call the bank on their behalf because they send double or triple payments to a bill payment. Trust me,,, when you have grandparents who cannot really read English, and have only used smartphones for the last 2 years AND the government stupidly decides to close ALL the bank counters during covid and force everyone to use apps, you are going to have 50% of error transactions that need to be reversed.

This is the practical life I talk about that most of the world goes through. I know for sure this is not just my country as all my friends are angry about the same decision.

Now imagine the govt moves this all to blockchain. I agree it is a shitcoin fiat but "practical considerations" I hope you get what I mean now.

Nuno is a good manager and he is the one who is responsible for picking Wolves up and I am really glad that he is in PL giving competition to other managers. As for Kane, there is lot of drama but right now Harry Kane is focused on Euro's so probably things would go more clear after Euro is concluded.

Don't know why but I feel like Kane might stay after Nuno is appointed but still don't know for sure. There is lot going on you know.

Indeed,,, as a Spurs fan already tired of our board/chairman and still really missing our good old Poch, I am actually so glad we hired Nuno instead of the other names linked to us. He made Wolves into a top Premier League side that also played very well in Europa.

Regarding Kane,,, I have been ready to say goodbye to him since last season and his last game really looked like he was also saying farewell. All the fans even said he should go (in a kind way). But you never know now. Can Nuno have enough power? For sure he wants Kane to stay but our board has not changed and they may still restrict him like they restricted Poch:)
2233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: July 05, 2021, 09:05:27 AM
I am not following F1 so I skipped all those specials. I was thinking on taking Botas one since odds looked good but checked my fiat bookie and found much better odds @25. So I took it there instead. I am avoiding that fiat bookie since we lose roughly 15 percent on the taxes but when odds are that good it is still value.

I am also a bit disappointed about lack of Copa promotions. I had a feeling sportsbet is really big in Brazil since they are sponsors of team plus Steve is always showing us all those amazing multi tickets from Brazil. Then you have Copa hosted in Brazil and Brazilians playing great - feels like missed opportunity unless those promos are geographicaly targeted.

Not complaining though, EURO promos have been amazing for me so far  Grin

Even worse for me,,, I am usually not able to go online much during the weekends these days. Now I have to travel very far early Saturday and get back late Sunday. Mobile data is a bit expensive so some apps and try to do some betting but more than that cannot really stay online long. Which means I am going to miss the big games next weekend unless I put prelive far ahead:)

EURO has been SO good to us all:) But I only made one special that hit (4.5 goals) but it was a big one for me!
2234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the only thing that humans cannot control on: July 05, 2021, 08:03:27 AM
What if people and miners and devs stopped caring about integrity and gave in to big blocks and POS just to solve "scalabitity" problem?
Indeed, with the cooperation of all mankind, a 51% attack can be easily completed.
But this is just an assumption, because we can never predict the end of the story from a given starting point.
Another extreme point is that if everyone in the world except you gives up mining, then you can easily master btc. Obviously this is also impossible.
Scalability、Decentralization、Security. The three can only take care of two of them at the same time.Or focus on one of them.
For the time being, I don’t consider whether there will be a project that takes all three into account in the future. For the time being, I don’t consider whether there will be a project that takes all three into account in the future.
Bitcoin blockchain technology is a combination of "decentralization" and "security",Scalability has naturally become the most important reason restricting his development.(But now that the blockchain is becoming more familiar to people, scalability seems to be a very important issue)

I do not know if it is true you can only take care of 2/3 of those items. And I am sure there are many other things that need to be taken care of. Cost, for example, which in the end for the user is what makes many of them move away from BTC and ETH to shitcoins (they do not understand security or decentralization). Even for BTC scaled they think they do not want to pay 4 cents for a fee:)

And Bitcoin people would argue that scalability IS solved. Most of the times this year mempool was NOT full.
2235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are the bulls back? on: July 05, 2021, 07:24:11 AM
We expect bulls will happen again because a few hours earlier there was positive news spread with the purchase of Bitcoin in large numbers, so the current price increase is very influential with it because a few days ago negative news continued to hit the cryoto world so that the price decline continues to occur, for the future we expect the value of crypto will continue to increase so that we can easily get the profit we expect.

Not all of us expect this though,,, for me the news is always a factor that goes both ways. Remember,,, these media guys make money with good and bad news and they want to surprise us and make us feel either very happy or very sad or very fearful. This makes us read, gives them more views, more money, etc.

Why should Bitcoin purchases push bulls back when all the years of longterm buying did not? What is more important is the perception about Bitcoin changes.

Good to hear the Federer has won again, it seems that he is getting back to his form. It was a tough battle against Norrie. Sonego is next, but he is more of a clay court player, so I guess Federer has some advantage of him.

Medvedev has to be stretch by Cilic in a 5 setter, it's a good comeback from Medvedev as he is down 2 sets but he recovers himself and won the next 3.

I guess Federer is always a nostalgic choice for many of us here. I was watching an ad for Wimbledon and they were showing a lot of Federer moments and,,, it just makes me realize how old he looks now after all those times spent in taking care of injuries.

It would be awesome if somehow he makes it to the final to face Djokovic,,, still 12/1 odds on him!

If you say bitcoin mining causes global warming, I don't agree, because what I know is that global warming has been happening for a long time even before bitcoin existed, why is it always bitcoin that is always the problem, while global warming is caused by gold mining, trains that cause air pollution , why is it never a problem, why is bitcoin always the target???

ETH is giving many rounds for the $ 2k, however the bulls are waiting for the best moment to give the best of all the bullish rallies, what happens is that the movement of BTC has so much uncertainty that everything must be done with extreme caution, without However this analysis shows that ETH is on the right track despite.

I got a bit worried when Bitcoin went back to 36k and ETH stayed below 1900 for a while but I guess both coins are locked in battle now to see if they can overcome their resistance (BTC at 36 and ETH at 2.1).

I do feel like you, in ETH as well as BTC the bulls are just gathering a storm for a big breakout. They do not mind giving in a little bit every now and then to keep support safe but it is very dangerous territory to go all in now.
