2241  Economy / Speculation / Re: Keep calm, and take a coffee. A trader said... on: March 03, 2018, 12:37:52 AM
If you were a trader from back in 2008 and have even put the slightest time in bitcoin could have been very reach by now. Perhaps I'd say buying now in order to trade is much more risky. Bitcoin can no lnger be a buy and forget investment. Daytrading requires a lot of dedication and can't be done by anyone.

... Point me to which threads you're talking about please.

I could only find one of the 2 threads that I remember:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1756494.msg25516071#msg25516071

It is possible that the account closure of his N26 account might not be related
to his transfer from Kraken, but the timing is suspicious.

There was at least another user with a similar problem, but as I said
I can´t find the thread (maybe it got deleted).

I remember this. Probably not an issue related to crypto at all as you say. Really though the only downside for n26 is that you need a passport for most countries to be able to register. It's well worth it though, great customer support for a bank too!
2243  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [LIST] Free EU bank accounts that you can be opened directly online on: March 01, 2018, 06:10:19 PM
A little bit off topic but hope I'll get answer here.
If I have account in one of those EU banks and have money in it + history of some transactions, will it help me to get visa in europe countries more easily? Or this even doesn't matters for it and they prioritize accounts (money) in local banks?
Would proving assets help your case? If yes, then the bank can easily issue a signed statement for you to do that. I can't comment on that further because it's highly dependent on wht conditions would apply to each case. F.e. which country you're from etc.
2244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange or Wallet? on: March 01, 2018, 01:22:36 PM
Wallets are safer than exchanges.

Statistically, exchanges are prone to hacks than wallets.
Desktop wallets have been proven to be probe to hacking as well in certain occasions. Parity and electrum have been such cases. And some hardware wallets have had vulnerabilities as well. For long term storage paper wallets are considered safer. They can be saved with multisig as well for extra physical security.
2245  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [LIST] Free EU bank accounts that you can be opened directly online on: March 01, 2018, 12:54:39 PM
Has anyone here tried to open an account on bil.com? They seem to be accepting application however mine was rejected without them telling me the reason. It seems to have a nice design and services however. The application form is hard to go through though.
2246  Economy / Exchanges / Re: List of bitcoin debit cards on: March 01, 2018, 08:04:33 AM
...
Several issues on that. Loading with BitPay would add a 1% fee on every load. ViaBuy is a paid service and quite expensive too. It'd be better to exchange BTC and just deposit to a bank account with a debit card. N26 or Mistertango for example.

There were numerous reports of people in this very forum, who had their N26 account closed
due to regular cryptocurrency-related transactions.

I don't think that this is true about n26. I wasn't able to verify any of the claims that it's closing accounts with crypto activity. I've had plenty of transactions to and from exchanges myself and even contacted support in the meantime for assistance with statements. No word from n26 against cryptocurrency-related activity.

Has there been anything new to that story though? Point me to which threads you're talking about please.
2247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Tradesatoshi.com - CryptoCurrency Exchange on: February 28, 2018, 09:48:48 PM
Tradesatoshi also recently got listed on cryptocoincharts, it was listed for Garlicoin but the exchange is there nevertheless. Would the OP add that to the main thread? Perhaps cryptocoincharts could add more pairs if the admins of the exchange came in contact.
2248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: On March 1, the beginning of the bullish trend? on: February 28, 2018, 09:33:07 PM
Probably not. There's no indicator that markets are going through an overturn and in fact selling pressure has been one of the driving forces of markets recently. So I wouldn't say that any upward trend could be starting soon.
2249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GARLICOIN - Reddit's Garlic Bread Worshiping Currency on: February 25, 2018, 08:33:12 AM
I see that circulation supply of Garlic coins increasing very fast, in accordance with Coinmarket cap - Circulating Supply was doubled in few weeks. How new coins is generating so fast? Is it result of mining or another way of coin generation?
Several reasons to take into account:
1. ASIC mining rocked difficult and likely broke the block target prior to the fork
2. The block target is only set to 40 seconds. It can be very unstable at such low numbers
3. There was a premine of [undisclosed] coins. Devs never stated which the first public block was
4. The recent hard fork (while supposedly ASIC resistant) is under an algorithm that hasn't been thoroughly tested, only allowing Nvidia GPUs to mine. It's likely that this is causing further instabilities.
2250  Economy / Exchanges / Re: List of bitcoin debit cards on: February 24, 2018, 08:47:52 AM
Viabuy issues Mastercard, correct? It seems they allow their cards to be loaded with bitcoins via their processing partner, BitPay:

https://www.viabuy.com/service-experience.html

Are there restrictions similar to Skrill or are the funds spendable and withdrawable from ATMs? They have strict KYC regs and they have had an active web presence for years so I’m sure they are not a fly by night card operation.

Is there a risk that these service providers will follow CRS and report account balances back to our tax agencies? I am looking for a EUR card that I can use for normal living expenses. I would prefer not to be charged with tax evasion  Grin
All banks share information.

Seriously, better keep away of non-cash fiat of you want to avoid such a thing... Bitcoin is a good alternative I would say... Roll Eyes
2252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GARLICOIN - Reddit's Garlic Bread Worshiping Currency on: February 10, 2018, 04:57:38 PM
Remove the ANN from this topic as it gives the false impression that you are part of the Garlicoin team

Not cool
It's the original title. [ANN] Stands for announcement, which is what this post is. Earlier to the one of the devs either way. Tongue

Can this coin be mined by KNC Titan?
2254  Economy / Services / Re: [BitBlender] Signature Campaign - Seniors and up (CFNP) on: February 08, 2018, 12:03:25 AM
Oooo I'm all excited. Pay day is coming boys. 1BBoPUH4yYdTrJZCHzUKAdgQPDSUdMLGNv has 1 Bitcoin in it!

Is there a certain day of the week that we're getting paid now Lutpin? I've noticed that the payments used to be Sundays but once we went biweekly it was maybe Tuesdays. Is it pretty much whenever we see a balance in that address?

It's worked out this week because I was going to buy some alts and they've all jumped off a cliff, but if there's a set day that we're going to see payments in the future I'd like to know.

This has been a really long campaign and it's still got the best rates out there! I'll be here until Bitblender no longer wants to advertise haha.
Lutpin must've been busy. I hope everything is well for him, hopefully the campaign will go on as planned.

2256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GARLICOIN - Reddit's Garlic Bread Worshiping Currency on: February 06, 2018, 07:50:02 PM
As the developer has come forward admitting the weakness of scrypt-n, I've removed the scam tag. This, to me, is noble of the development team. They do however need to pick a truly ASIC-proof algo and incentivize a hardfork because as they said, even the remote possibility of ASICs getting on the chain should be taken very seriously (and not dismissed because of the rarity of such ASICs).

I still dislike many things written in the medium post written by the developers and will address them later. For now though, the warning in the OP will remain until the issue is actually address.
2257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SCAM] GARLICOIN - Reddit's Garlic Bread Worshiping Currency on: February 06, 2018, 08:57:23 AM
Many people from the subreddit are following [Reddit post] where it was suggested to create accounts and report/flood this post here. Perhaps they don't know that reports here aren't the same as in Reddit.

Such comments as the one bellow make me laugh.

Back at it again with the FUD, no one even remotely suggested to "flood" the topic what the fuck are you on.

I hope the mods ban your sorry ass lol

Oh yeah, instead of addressing the valid concerns I'm pointing out you want me silenced. Classy to deny that there was no suggestion of flooding this thread when you say that you want me banned. Sadly for you not every website is a safe space like Reddit. If you're triggered you can just not use this forum instead of crying out loud that you want my account banned, because this isn't happening.  Tongue
2258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SCAM] GARLICOIN - Reddit's Garlic Bread Worshiping Currency on: February 06, 2018, 08:26:51 AM
This is not good...

There seems to be a lot of brand new accounts all shilling this coin now - are they the same?

I wondered why the hell the dev would use Nscrypt as it's an outdated hashing algorithm and half of the mining community would have to put extra effort to mine. There is Equihash, Ethash, Cryptonite, lyrca2rev2 which are ubiquitous throughout crypto at this time and have development and there are no known ASICs.

After research I see that there probably is an ASIC for Nscrypt, old it may be but more than likely to have an advantage over the rest of the miners - is this connected to the dev in any way?

Even if there isn't an ASIC there still is the issue of the 200k coins in this pocket, does the community have the address of the community fund or is it faith?

Either way the chain needs forking to a hashing algo that isn't sketchy and if the dev can or will do this I doubt very very very much. Otherwise this coin will die, large community notwithstanding.

Not FUD I have been mining GRLC for nearly 2 weeks now and this is coin is looking worse than the total crypto market cap right now...

As you are not part of the official dev team, you don't have the right to create an [ANN] thread on behalf of the coin creators.
I see that supporters of this coin are quite fond of the developer dictactor's propaganda. Why do you dislike freedom of speech so much? Perhaps cryptocurrency isn't for you if you're so easily upset. Roll Eyes

You can deny that Garlicoin isn't a dead coin all you want but for now it seems to be deteriorating in exchanges, almost twice as much than most other cryptos did today.

I'm sorry if the truth rustled you but as all other Garlicoin supporters have pointed out after the lord and savior DigitalizedOrange spoke, there's clearly no need to be upset.

Only dreams now.

Two things, first off it's not a freedom of speech issue. You didn't just express your opinion about the developers, you misrepresented yourself as someone who has the authority to post an [ANN] thread for a coin that you officially have nothing to do with, made it look legitimate, then after generating traffic and views to said post performed an about-face and used that assumed legitimacy to degrade the good name of the coin and the project.

What you're doing isn't practicing free speech, it's closer to slander which in the U.S. there are actually laws against. But this is the internet so yeah.

Secondly - chill. The coin is two weeks old and yet you feel the need to conduct some kind of organized attack on it via a salty witch-hunt. You're not psychic and you can't know for sure the intentions of the devs. Just try to investigate things and discuss it in a civilized manner instead of hurling accusations and damning judgements in flaming red letters, geez dude.

As I said, we need moderation in a board which enables official devs. to confirm their identities before being allowed to post an [ANN] thread of any sort to eliminate this kind of nonsense.
And who are you to define authority in cryptocurrency, mister? Roll Eyes

And breaking the TOS. Roll Eyes

Op. Please show me a verified instance of a KNC Titan mining scrypt-n ABOVE nfactor 11 (2048)

Code does not count. You can put fake code that never does anything and no one would find out if the code is never called on.

There has never been a scrypt-n coin that went above nfactor 11. (vertcoin forked before this, I'm suspecting because the potential for a asic to be capable of it wasn't worth it the risk to try and call out its bluff)

I don't doubt the titan can do nfactor 11, but I do have my doubts that it's capable of anything HIGHER than nfactor 11, and all research I've done leads to my doubts that it's capable of anything higher than nfactor 11.

No other miner has come out that can do scryptn. The only other I've seen that launched was the Miner Wolf V1 and it ONLY claimed to do scrypt-n before it launched. Post launch they removed all text supporting scrypt-n (I'm guessing it originally was going to have scrypt-n capabilities but they dropped all support due to cost)

ALL other scrypt-n claimed devices have been FAKE or UNRELEASED (dropped due to costs, etc)

There are little to no technical documentation on the chips put into asics. This means the capabilities of the devices vs the actual technical specs could be wildly different. They can CLAIM it can do nfactor 19 but that doesn't mean it can. Nfactor 19 takes 256X more memory than nfactor 11 by the way.

do you really think they jammed 256x more memory into a device? Do you have any idea how much memory that would be?

I can't even find any VERIFIED documentation stating the per asic memory capacity of the knc titan. I found one claim that it had 300mb but it wasn't verified whether or not that was per die or not.

also the price of grlc correlates nicely with the bitcoin crash. Bitcoin is down at 7k and has already dipped below 6k for a brief period. The current price is really no big deal
I don't own a Titan. Would you be kind enough to ask owners to help you independently confirm that it can indeed run scrypt-n? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1283859.0 The miners ability to mine scrypt-n has already been documented in several blogs (example) but if you want photographic evidence only an owner could provide such.

You might not want to tell them about Garlicoin using scrypt-n though because they could destroy it for fun (and profit) as they did with a ton of shitcoins back in 2014 already.  Roll Eyes
