BTC is the only crypto you should ever actually invest in, Any other coin is simply used as a pump and dump scheme. ETH and ETC are no different, these coins aren going to replace bitcoin, people will just buy them so they can sell at a higher price in order to acquire more bitcoin. What ive been wondering though is, is it even worth buying ETC at all? Has the hacker dumped his dao coins on it yet?
I speculate the hacker will not dump in the ETC chain but it will be in the ETH chain. He might be accumulating ETH right now thru the ETC/ETH market available in Poloniex and now Kraken. I also speculate after he dumps the ETH he will use this BTC to buy ETC supporting the original chain. There is now also outside support to the original Ethereum classic from bitcoiners which I think the hacker is one. This. As the intruder's funds exist completely unmolested on the ETC chain, anything he can do to pump ETC will increase his net worth.

Yes. This will not end until one of the chains becomes the only chain. It is in the hands of the miners now. I foresee a mining arms race between the original and the fork in the months to come. Right now the miners of the fork are in the comfortable lead. But they will be in panic once the hash power of the original chain becomes closer and closer to the has power of the fork. This will start the arms race.
Do.you think the emergence of the additional forked coin will further discuss the total network hash rate? If the replay attack.shit is real, then a fork of ETC might.be required.

I think ETC is just another measure to make sure ETH permanently fails, even if ETC does too.
I saw the volume of the Ethereum is very high, the price of bitcoin does not increase, so do you think people are more interested in Ethereum than bitcoin now? Hell Naw. You can't make the same profits in BTC that you can in the ETHEREUM asset family because the volatility just isn't there. If you were day trading BTC, now you are day trading ETH/ETC instead, and it's on every damn exchange now so all you have to do is click a sifferent trading pair.

ETH, throughout all of this, has been unusually stable (it's being supported I think). ETC is another story, that isn't quite finished yet. With that being said, the looming threat of yet another fork makes this too risky to touch at the moment, unless that is what you are looking for. It might take 5 forks, but eventually people are.going to get weary of all this shit storm and divest from the Ethereum asset family.

If this has taught me anything, this whole bananas Ethereum debacle that is still very much in progress, is that you can't rationalize with a cult. The following on this coin had a ' drink the coolaid' vibe. You couldn't reason with people that had normally saner heads, and the percentage of trolls.that came out to play should be indicative of the amount of fanboys. So no, this won't die, come.fork, knife or spatula; this thing has adherents. It's here to stay.

Electronicash, I do not know what market and news you are watching but that post is very optimistic for the Ethereum fork. We can see that Vitalik already made sloppy mistakes in the fork and that it has problems of its own and needs to be forked again. The original chain meanwhile is gaining momentum from the exchanges, the miners and soon the developers will also make the shift.
And ETH as well, price goes up as well. if you can compare them to all exchanges ETH is still has better value than ETC and may even goes up any moment. while ETC is about to be dumped. etc= 0.002 eth= 0.019 We are talking about the momentum. The original chain is gaining momentum in terms of support from miners and support from the exchanges. Soon the developers will follow also. There is clamor that the original chain is the real chain and the fork should die. Which it technically is. Also believe me ETC will not be dumped by the "hacker". There is a ETC/ETH market in Poloniex. The "hacker" will use that to trade his ETC to ETH slowly then make one bid dump on ETH. When it's all said and done, it seems like the fork worked out the best for the hacker. Now he can actually move those funds and liquidate them; before, a fork with only one surviving coin would have frozen those funds solid. If they wouldn't have forked, those coins would have been confiscated the second they touched an exchange. Interesting theory about the hacker's liquidation atrategy. I hadn't considered this threat/option.

No one is going to jail, unless it's debtor's prison. They are liable civilly, but unless it is proven this is an inside job, they are not liable for any criminal activity (although some may argue that this oversight was criminally negligent). They will be sued eventually, as an organization, not individuals. But no one is going to jail.

If you want to be relatively sure that you have roughly the same amount of value a week from now, choose bitcoin. If you want to take a wild, speculative gamble with that value, choose the ETH. Until they get that fork shit figured out, it's going to be entirely too volatile. And even if it isnt, the risk is too great unless you are doing it purely for speculation.

I see a lot of positivity here without conflict, so I'm going to assume this might be the next hype coin. I'm not speaking to the concept or technology at all, I'm simply saying this has the potential to be the next cult followed coin offering. The majority of those that invest in this asset won't be able to name two of the devs. But, people will invest.

I would like to formally propose a new fork of Ethereum: [ETE] This fork will Erase all Ethereum Blockchains and Mention of Ethereum from all Social Media, and DDOS any Exchange with anything even spelled close to Ethereum for all time. So, I would like to formally announce the proposal of " Ethereum Erado". If you agree, we can begin deleting this irritation immediately. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) I vote for this one ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) But then another 2 coins would pop up in its place, lol

Actually ETC seems to exist here and keep on having huge daily volume for few more weeks. It is not quite clear from where all those mining power are keep on increasing in ETC. Main question still remain is whether or at what point the hacker will dump all the ETC he have.
There are rumors that the thief will donate them to the new developers of etc! This is only a rumor but if this happens oh God!!! We will see a big increase in etc price. Do you have the source of the rumour? That is a very interesting development. If he donated early, there is no need to hard fork. Can you tell us at tleast the general direction of where this rumor came from? This twist would change this whole thing again... Why won't this story dir dammit?

When hype finishes in few days, price will go down. then will go sideways for a while. and then will see:-)
I'm feeling the same, gonna let it trickle down to the bottom before I rebuy. I have a feeling when this all shakes out, we might be surprised where the price heads. We will see.

Now that I think about it, if the exchanges had not listed ETC to trade with post fork, we would not even be having this discussion. Is this the result of the exchanges rushing to implement ETC on platform, so they could get the trading commissions that new, hot market would bring? Most people would not have the tech savvy to access these coins, Polo greatly facilitated people being able to trade these.

As much as I hate to say it, I actually hope more people start buying drugs and other things on the darknet with BTC. (As long as its not child pornography or weapons I have no problem with anything people want to buy with Bitcoins.) It means that more people will buy coins and the price will go up. Sorry but I'm greedy and want my investment to be worth more lol. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Anyways, drugs should be legalized. The "war on drugs" is just a business. The people that started it knew that. They don't want the war to end because they make too much profit. That's a whole different topic, though. I'll focus mainly on the later half of your statement; I think some drugs should be legalized, but not some others. Very basic and recreational drugs like marijuana should probably be legalized just because of the unnecessary amount of incarcerations for it as well as the relative lack of harm it causes. Other drugs like heroin and methamphetamine should not be legalized in my opinion, as those are much harder drugs with more dangerous consequences. But yes, the war on drugs is just a business for some people, and for the drug distributors they're making more than they would have before. It kind of goes both ways. I will agree with you that some drugs should be legal, I believe we should be free to ingest whatever substances we want. But where do you draw the line? I have seen marijuana users that are so heavily into it that it affects their lives like a drinking problem, and I have seen cocaine users you wouldn't suspect because they behave 'normally'. What's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander. If you permit one substance, you give to permit them all. And some substances can enslave a person's will too quickly (heroin, crack, meth). So, mayhap it better that drugs are illegal; you still have the choice to participate, just at your own peril.

I think buying at 0.0023 will be safe investment however i have bought at 0.0047 range and still in delima whether to sell for big loss or to keep watching how market will move.
Don't know how far in you are to this position, but consider buying more in dips to average your price per share down. Sell during the next surge, if we see a surge. But be careful, you could buy more just to watch it sink even lower. I only buy in 1/3 of my total intended invest for things like this, and buy the rest in response to price movement. So I can price average if I get into trouble.

It is worth $41 million now, no. 8 on the list. When the big Ethereum whales and the hacker dump his coin, what will the price be? It is worth $72 million now. I am wondering who is buying the ETC, will that coin be killed by the hacker? The price is even higher now. What will the price be when the DAO hacker starts to sell the 3+ million ETC? If the DAO hacker is not part of the ETC team or not behind it, there is a possibility that he will attack it again. So if the DAO hacker is not involved in the ETC pump, the ETC pump will finish soon, and dump will follow/ ETC will dump, esp as other exchanges open up ETC trading and allow people to access coins that they would not have the expertise to do on their own. After the selling pressure the exchanges are causing through enhanced liquidity is gone, I think the price might start to move upward long-term. But slowly. And that's still a big uncertainty.
|
|
|
The fanboys have nothing to do, it seems.
If that is the case, then the ETC might not survive the dump by the DAO hacker if he gets hold of the ETC. The hacker now has absolutely no incentive to sell, ESP if that would bring the market to ruin. This was what he was trying to achieve, the existence of the ETC chain. Remember, he was willing to bribe miners that would reject the hard fork. He got a fork he may not have wanted, but the chain that is holding his value is gaining support and may win out in the public eye. So he will get to keep the funds, without paying a cent to any miner.

The Ethereum Classic or ETC price is sub 1 dollar at the moment. If it is 51% attacked, its price will be lower than 0.1.
I predict an attack on ETC by the weekend. I think they missed the bus on this. By that time, total hashrqte may have grown to a point where a majority attack isn't feasible. Also, the sentiment towards ETH would only hurt the price. We aren't even going to talk about the second fork madness.

I wrote about it here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@sparkeddev/steemit-bug-to-add-more-then-5-tagsBut to sum it up you can have up to 6 tags currently but this is a bug so I'm not sure if its ban able. So use at your own risk. Has anyone found any other noticeable glitches on the site? I just joined yesterday, so id like to know if there is anything else i should be looking out for. Good catch man ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) of course, this only makes a few bucks while some blonde chick holding a sign and talking about bullshit is getting 10k. They might have a bounty for this, I would really try to contact support. Not sure how to contact support i messaged the person who runs the op here on bct not sure if thats the owner or not tho. Given how much STEEM comes up here, he/she should be active and respond, hopefully. If not, try to contact a dev via the forum. I looked, I couldn't see a support link myself.

It is difficult to say if many people support it or not. That could be just a pump and dump like many scam coins.
I suspect so. We have about a month to find out if the ETC is a scam coin or not. If it does not survive, and not developed properly, it is quite dangerous. ETC price is driven purely by speculation at the momemt,. I don't think people are buying these coins to use them, people are only buying these two assets at the moment because there is a very strongly possibility that the price will change dramatically. So 'support' is irrelevant. Ignoring ETC for the moment, can anyone tell me why ETH hasn't crashed? I refuse to believe the entire ETH camp has been Cool Hand Luke about this new fork news, yet I don't see the reaction Id expect.
