2281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH/ETC Madness: Good time to refill Alt bags? on: July 26, 2016, 01:31:47 PM
Holy Fuck.

As a uninvolved bystander, I am astonished (and mildly entertained) by one of the most epic battles in altcoin history being fought right now. There's blood everywhere, sooooo much red, nearly every coin affected.

This looks like a good opportunity to buy alts, doesn't it? I'm not even sure how much of a role it plays, which coin you buy exactly.

Too bad I was impatient and didn't pay much attention to ETH overall. Not because I'd wish I had bought some ETC yesterday (well…), but because of how strongly it influences other alts prices and how cheap I could buy my favourite flavour of altcoin right now…

Yesssss.

This shit has been purely science fiction since its inception. Black hats, white hats, wielding money at each other via computer code. All while summoning child programs from parent programs with hard and soft forks looming. Sheer fucking madness.

So now I'm along for the ride.

Honestly, ID pick one of these, the ETC or the ETH. It's gonna be a gamble man, but if you pick this binary right, I think you will most likely profit at the end of all this.

I'm team #ETC. I figure miner profit motivation will keep ETC around a little longer than we expect. And if they try to attack the chain, I can pretty much assure you some group is going to take offense and spring to defense.

The more people concern themselves, the more I will most likely profit.
2282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Regarding ETC on: July 26, 2016, 01:24:06 PM
Yes, ETC's price is pumped up a lot! Nothing will guarantee that it will keep moving up. We  should have noticed that the lowest price went to 0.0001BTC! It will possibly  crash to that level at any time in term of investment. Unless you have faith in ETC, buy it for the potential!

Any investment in ETC is speculative at best, at the moment. This thing is so in flux now, that even if you care about the coin, the uncertainty makes the risk completely over the too. I'm holding a few ETC at the moment (less than ten), and it's purely a gamble. I may be better off simply flipping a coin. But I have a hunch I intended to follow.
2283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitFinex is going to list ETC soon... on: July 26, 2016, 01:19:50 PM
We may also see dump after both bitfinex and yunbi list etc as the only etc in the market are from the past eth holder in poloniex. But it was quite exciting to see etc price bumping hard and already 10% of eth price by now.

Agree. The liquidity provided by the two other exchanges with probably make the price dip a bit, but I don't know, I think the people are embracing the unmolested chain for ideological reasons, and most importantly, because the difficulty is shit right now on ETC. Easy to mine, and people are.buying it? We will see how this turns out  Grin

Who could have possibly called this? And for the love of God, please someine make this a book.
2284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Good Buy Time For Ethereum Classic on: July 26, 2016, 01:16:29 PM
I was unlucky missed the etc train and also lost so much selling at 100k which i have bought at 130k price.

It is quite risky to trade ETC. You do not know when the DAO hacker will dump his ETC and if he is part of the ETC whales.
He's going to dump this weekend. ETC soon to 0.00.

Source? Seems like this would be shooting himself in the foot, and the guy is obviously a competent trader, that short was a work of art. Why would he supress the price of an asset he is a major holder of, when there is an obvious uptrend in progress? And what books would he even dump on? Polo? I think they would see the incoming deposit and figure out who it is.
2285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Collapsing - ETC up! on: July 26, 2016, 01:13:21 PM
So now this Smiley this drama has to be one of the zestiest things that has happened in crypto in a while. I'm intrigued, and finally, I'm purchasing. I have a feeling this ETC/ETH thing is going to play out in a very interesting way.

Gox wasn't even this juicy. Hell, GAW didn't have shit on this.
2286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If U could kill some altcoins, what would u eradicate? on: July 26, 2016, 01:10:23 PM
Every other alt except the top 5 or so. It's not hate, it's just getting complicated with all these essentially identical but differently named assets floating around. I wish people would issue tokens instead of whole coins when they get the itch to field one of these..
2287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin transactions - Slow OR Fast on: July 25, 2016, 05:30:52 PM
is it possible that bitcoin will be accepted in local stores, shops etc. since transactions are to slow and customers have to wait until their transactions are verified. And nobody wants to wait.
Can transactions be seeded up to save customers time or any other way to use bitcoin  at local stores.
Of course yes, bitcoin can be accepted in local stores even if it is need much time until every local stores accept it. And The solution for low transaction is using high fees when costumers makes payment on local stores. It will save costumers time.
high fees won't affect that much compared to normal fees, still being included in the same block and need to wait till the block been solved,so it's not going to success, the only way is enabling 0 confirmation transaction or just wait it and hoping the transaction confirmed in few minutes not hours

But there is always inherent risk in accepting 0 confirmation transactions as proof of payment, there is always the possibility of double spend. But, I admit it would be hard to launch a double spend attack while checking out at a register.
2288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Scam, prettiest lie ever told.... on: July 25, 2016, 02:59:21 PM
sub 0.01 incoming after fork? KEK

Some people want the price to be lower than 0.01 so that they can buy more. It could be the motive of the trolls.

The Ethereum price is still over the 0.018 range. It seems most of the people think the hard fork is a success.

The price of Ethereum is still around 0.02 at the moment, that is after the revival of the Ethereum Classic.

Well, how ETH rebounded back should be a teaching moment for btc. This was the best marketing, besides NEOBEE, that has happened in this space so far. If bitcoin focused a little more on people, instead of technology, we would be much better off. A lot of people still don't know what a bitcoin is.
2289  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Legal Issues on: July 25, 2016, 02:34:26 PM
Bitcoin Legal Issues is an important concern in relation to international financial law.

Prove it. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Fuck the bullshit. I like that, carry on.
2290  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Japan Passes Bill to Regulate Bitcoin Exchanges... on: July 25, 2016, 02:33:20 PM
we are hearing this news again and again some time on social media and some time from our friends and in bitcointalk. but still there is no conformation about this statement. i dont know either is for real or just the expectation.

I have yet to catch a news snippet or article to confirm this. But it makes sense, Gox was epic and I think other governments are waiting to see how Japan prevents this from happening in the future. Notice how most governments are uncharacteristically hands off with cryptos. Guy makes a new fiat, goes to jail. Guy mints a new gold coin, same thing. But bitcoin, despite the obvious boon it provides for money laundering, is pretty much unmolested. They simply want you to pay taxes. Seems like they aren't taking it seriously, which I doubt, or there is a longer term strategy at play.

Here we are quite some time later. Have we still not had a single shred of mainstream media about this? I have seen more about Karpales recently than I have this.
2291  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is it illegal for me to sell my Bitcoins? on: July 25, 2016, 02:30:40 PM
if you are living in such a country where bitcoin is banned. then if you are holding or selling your bitcoin then it is illegal. but if your country has yet not given any statement about bitcoin then it is legal. and you can use or can sell it very easily. without any restriction.

But please, make sure to pay your taxes (if your country requires it, most do). It seems like the taxation is the vector a government is most likely to harass a bitcoin user with, along with regulation (you don't have a license).
2292  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: USA - BTC & Other Coin Legal on: July 25, 2016, 02:27:49 PM
For the record, in the  States bitcoin is considered a commodity. Unless it is proceeds from an illegal activity, they are perfectly legal to possess and distribute.

Now, not paying taxes is another thing..
2293  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Coinbase NOT Regulated - No reply to Account Closure - Is Coinbase a scam? on: July 25, 2016, 02:24:20 PM
Terms of service usually dictate that a platform has this option, so I wouldn't be surprised at this. I'm glad they aren't denying you access to your funds, and that means you probably weren't doing anything illegal, just something they don't like. Lesson learned, manage your own wallets offline, and use wallets that only you hold the keys to.

Take this to Reddit if they keep ignoring you. They are sensitive about their brand; someone will come out of the woodwork to respond.
2294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Bitcoin even have a future? on: July 25, 2016, 02:17:30 PM
That we have invested so much specifically into bitcoin at this point, it seems to me some of these alts are kind of shooting the ecosystem in the foot. They are novel ideas, but the money they take out of the equation would be better spent fixing holes in the parent technology, bitcoin.
2295  Other / Off-topic / Re: What value does Bitcoin bring to you? on: July 25, 2016, 02:14:24 PM
Ability to quickly move money with a few clicks.

Ability to participate in trading markets without account minimums or extensive verification.

The ability to divide my funds into different accounts without a lengthy new account creation process.

The ability to speculate against an asset with extreme volatility, but general upward growth.

And to top it all off, it's cool as shit. It's science fiction, people.
2296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your money aim? At which point you would go in "retire"? on: July 25, 2016, 02:05:52 PM
There is no limit to acquisition. When I earn more money than I can spend in a lifetime, and my children's lifetimes, and possibly those of their children as well, after that, you earn for those that need. Put that energy in a charity. You can amass that same value for others outside your circle, and improve life for people that might need a little help. Or whatever charitable endeavor you deem worth it. You could save the whales if you feel they need saving (they'll be alright).

2297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An Article Claims BIG Investors Now Buy the Bulk of BTC on: July 25, 2016, 01:59:14 PM
...

Author Chris Vermeulen (a gold guy, but, hey I am too) writes that China and big investors (the Winkelvoss twins have not gone away) represent the bulk of new BTC purchases.

http://www.24hgold.com/english/news-gold-silver-large-investors-become-major-buyers-of-bitcoin.aspx?article=8762349738H11690&redirect=false&contributor=Chris+Vermeulen

The twins maybe a real gamblers to gamble and put to risk million or I should I say their billions of investment. If in case the price will go down they will get a heart attack
But I guess they have a group of financial analysts and trading experts to monitor and predict the movement of bitcoins. I'm sure they are not stupid to waste such big money that they are not sure they will profit.

And this is why, since they got their exchange up and running, I'm optimistic for the future of btc. They have reputations in finance that precede this bitcoin thing, for them to go all in (apparently with the blessings of experts) is a good thing. Also, they attract more of traditional finance to the party, which is the opposite of a problem.
2298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CHINA CONTROLLING Bitcoin? on: July 25, 2016, 01:56:13 PM
People here have claimed that Bitcoin is in fact controlled and ruled by China, as mining is centralized by Chinese mining institutions.

Do you think that China is controlling/ruling bitcoin yes or no?

First of Bitcoin is decentralized digital currency. So no one control bitcoins.
Second things as Bitcoin can make movement as most of mining farm is china as they are producing more bitcoin then ever in world. But that does not means that China controls bitcoins.

Was a decentralized currency. The mining (or how it has become a monopoly) is now the point of centralization. If China stopped mining collectively (thought exercise, bear with me) the network would be crippled with congestion. That sounds like a form of control to me.
2299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to send BTC to 10 people and only pay transaction fee once on: July 25, 2016, 01:52:31 PM
Coinbase should be fine for this. They don't seem to charge a fee, and I've been paid faucet earnings via coinbase (not a direct receive to wallet, the email to email thing.) You could also consider having them make a coinbase account. Pretty quick, and you know you'll be able to pay them with minimal fees.
2300  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Free Lance For Bitcoin on: July 25, 2016, 01:45:44 PM
Specifically that pay in bitcoin, or period? The ones that pay in bitcoin are always bitcoin related, and subsequently slim Pickens. General freelance work is available on (of course) freelancer.com, upwork, and people per hour. Mturk is kind of freelance, but meh, it's a headache.

You can always post your resume on the forum, but, they will ignore the shit right out of it.
