I'm in talks with some new devs to either switch the current algo or relaunch and send people new coins based on their holdings.
It's tough for all coins right now. I think switching to a new algo might be a good idea from a mining perspective to reduce heat.

Sorry for the late reply, just noticed this thread. I'm the founder and CTO at BlockCypher, happy to answer any technical question you'd have. Welcome. It's pretty late over on this side of the pond right now. I'm sure Will will get back to you tomorrow though. Could you give us any details on how block cypher works and how an existing coin would move to it etc? Thanks.

"In surreal news, a Japanese artist launched a bonsai tree and a bouquet of flowers into space"
http://news.artnet.com/in-brief/artist-launches-bonsai-tree-into-space-65519Maybe we could crowdfund a project to put "a BRIT into space" - for publicity and promotional purposes. Put a Prypto scratchcard with one BRIT on it into space (or orbit if possible) - could even ask Prypto to help sponsor it. Would be both humorous and attention grabbing. Haha that's a great idea.. To the moon etc. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Thanks for the suggestion, good stuff as always. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Actually I'm kind of serious about it. It's worth a try. Maybe even see if you can get Virgin Galactic involved somehow.

This coin really dumped to the bottom by miners
There are no miners you fooligan. It's price manipulation and idiots panic selling so they can buy whatever is the current new coin.

I've just had an idea of starting a crowd funding campaign with crowdfunder.co.uk, don't have any experience with crowd funding myself so I want to know what you guys think, or if you've been involved with one before. Also, what do you think will be the right amount to aim for?
Any ideas or feedback is welcome.
That depends on what the idea is. Well the money/campaign would be used to help us hire some more people to do marketing and development work on BritCoin. The remainder of the 1% pre mine (150k Brit) is not really worth enough right now to tempt people into working with us, since the price is low/undervalued. I think if we could raise £20k it will go a very long way to helping BritCoin spread and grow. This is just an idea I had this morning, nothing is set in stone. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) That's a brilliant idea. I would use somewhere like Indiegogo or Kickstarter though because they have much more traffic and are more likely to get noticed. The other thing is that you should put out press releases to news organisations that you are doing this to see if they take it up. Also I think it would be good if you could talk to block cypher about what it would take to incorporate their technology into Britcoin. Also speak to Bryce Weiner at blocktech. Although he is a controversial figure he tends to be quite approachable and he knows how to get attention - he might be able to give some advice about getting noticed a bit more.

ethereum presale has started. If deves don't amend the ipo price, investors will go there
If people don't like this they aren't going to like Ethereum. They don't even have anything ready, there are no refunds if they don't deliver, and the planned delivery is for the end of the year anyway. I would rather invest in something that is here now.

Sorry I missed this one! YES you are 100% right and ESCROW is the next big feature we're already working on figuring out.... Apologies if I missed it but couldn't this involve some kind of multi-signature approach? I think block cypher already have this in place so it shouldn't be too difficult to implement into SYS as a first step towards ESCROW.

I'm hoping we've turned a corner now and shook off all the impatient day traders.. Well the ones who are not interested in long term prospects at least, the ones who are full of short term blind optimism, panic selling, ending in loss. But you never know, they may still be lurking. Thanks for the BlockCypher tip btw, their service looks really interesting. I wonder who is selling so much so cheap? I doubled my investment last night when it was in the 150s. Lots of buy support down there.
Impatient morons who expect a coin to multiply by 10 in a few days and expect growth to be linear with the value always going up. They buy the coin at a peak then are shocked when the price declines and they inevitably feed into it by panic selling. Such people are basically too stupid to be put in control of any amount of money. Yes it would allow the easy implementation of blockchain apps and multisignature support according to their blurb and it seems to be true.

Guys - any progress on the press release, podcasts etc. ? Should really help to build up the momentum.

People who invested in Bitcoin when it was pretty much worthless were told they were insane. I wonder where those people are now? Probably saying the same thing about every altcoin. This coin is bringing Ethereum type innovation to the blockchain and it is doing it NOW, not some time in the future. It is natural to have concerns and doubts, all altcoins are a risk. The fact is if any altcoin is going to succeed it's going to be one with innovations that help real world adoption and SYScoin has that. It is unlikely to make you rich - investments generally don't do that and that is what this is. This is a chance to be part of Altcoin 2.0 - the first real developments since LTC. I think it's worth taking a risk on.

Block Cypher is really interesting. I'm not sure exactly how it works. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable could explain. Perhaps look at getting Britcoin on it? It's already started reviving interest in URO. http://www.blockcypher.com/![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fdl.dropboxusercontent.com%2Fu%2F81196340%2FBitcointalk%2FBlock_Cypher.jpg&t=663&c=YOenZGRJS0-F0Q)

Price seems to be creeping up to 400 sats again (even if you don't ignore the retard who is till trying to lower the price with 20 coin sell orders - 1 coin guy has obviously upgraded to 20 coin guy now). Perhaps people are starting to take notice of the IBTimes/Yahoo News article.

I strongly urge my fellow Syscoin pre-sale participants and/or those that are still considering entry to answer the following question in regard to some of the concerns put forward (price, miners, etc.)... What if we get an ASIC Showdown with this baby??? ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) isn't bitcoin scrypt Bitcoin is SHA256D whereas LTC (and SYS) use SCRYPT.
|
|
|
...and at the moment my GPUs get too hot for SCRYPT mining...
You need to look into Heavycoin's HEFTY1 then! ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Actually I've been mining a lot of MNR which uses HEFTY (Heavy uses HEAVY not HEFTY similar but different enough to need different mining kernels).

Thanks guys! I still think we may get some more, even bigger media publications by the end of the week. PR releases can take days before a journalist will get in contact, so there's probably more to come. You never know, we may reach the holy grail that is BBC. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Bad news about the dedicated multipool Soul_eater_123, but thank you for trying, it's really great of you to contribute like that. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) We're still in relatively early days and we have CoinKing payouts working (eventually) and hopefully when the price goes up we'll have more people wanting to mine and get paid out in Brits. Great work. Now might be a good time to get in touch with David Seaman again on doing an interview, particularly as Yahoo news has picked up the IBT article. Don't forget to mention this to him - he might be more interested if he thinks there is going to be interest building in Britcoin. Also there is a UK based podcast called Bitcoin UK (podcast feed: http://www.bitcoinukmedia.com/?feed=podcast; @BitcoinUKmedia on Twitter) - would be worth talking to them too.

Also I don't know if this is mentioned anywhere else but PRYPTO make scratch cards which are essentially paper wallets for cryptos. Might be an idea to get an arrangement for people to buy coins directly with fiat this way. I spoke to Prypto earlier and they say they are open to any coin and recommend contacting their resellers directly to arrange this. Would be great for promotion too if you hand out small amounts of SYS on cards for free just to get people interested. The link to their site (resellers) is: http://prypto.com/resellers/?pg=DirectoryI also think another way of getting out the message would be to do an interview with David Seaman (@d_seaman on twitter). He has a podcast that covers crypto amongst other topics and is genuinely enthusiastic about the subject. It would also be a good chance to allay any fears and concerns people may have before jumping in to the presale. Julian Yap (@jyap) is also a trusted and respected person in the crypto community. Having him on board to check the blockchain and certify wallets would be another tick in the trust box.

What if we get an ASIC Showdown with this baby??? ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) When I've got some BTC free I'm going to buy a few of the small (5 MH/s) ASICs to give mining SYS a try. I got into all this through mining and at the moment my GPUs get too hot for SCRYPT mining (plus there wasn't really anything I wanted to mine Scrypt wise). If this is a slow steady rise in value then it would benefit us miners taking the plunge and investing in some hardware before the big guys and hash farms make it too expensive for us.
